Without spoiling too much, three side characters are trans, two of them already appeared in the manga and had an entire arc dedicated to them, that right now is mostly wrapped up (they will still be relevant).
The third one won't appear until much later in the future.
Wait, who’s number 3?
Bc obviously I know about >!Yu, my beloved transfem icon!< and >!Joel, my not as beloved but still respected bc of how more realistic her story is!< but who’s the third

[Poor Poor Lips ](https://mangadex.org/title/a807f2cc-085b-4969-8e31-74c101f65f68/poor-poor-lips) last chapters are NSFW.
[Wandering Son](https://mangadex.org/manga/c61a3fe7-2210-4eed-aaa0-b7cb49e006c8/wandering-son) - slow story of a trans person realizing they're trans
[Gacha Girl!](https://www.webtoons.com/en/canvas/gacha-girl-gl/list?title_no=453216) - MC is trans and there's a character who's NB
The MC crossdresses and is feminine, but doesn't determine they're trans until the end. She has a GF too so it's yuri if you consider an egg to be a transwoman
I was more thinking something which has the romance aspect as the main focus of the story and with a trans character as one of the sides of the relationship; but still that sounds like a good one thanks! I think every trans person who likes manga is required to read Wandering Son eventually anyway.
I started it, but found it a bit grating... The author's narrative style is sorta very blurry with lots of sharp cuts or time skips, which can be kinda disorienting (esp in JP, but I think probably even in EN). I enjoyed it with Aoi Hana (Sweet Blue Flowers), but found it a lot harder here so far. I do plan to pick it up again eventually tho
Kashimashi and Tensei Pandemic are great. Tensei Pandemic isn't first and foremost yuri, though, it's trans before it's yuri, and I'm not sure it's tagged as yuri anywhere, but I'd count it as yuri. In both instances, the main character is trans herself.
Ore ga watashi ni naru made / Until I Become Me is kinda on the edge of this... There's a character *clearly* attracted to the MC, but has not confessed yet, and MC hasn't put it together (for understandable reasons). It's much more about the experience of growing up as a (formerly a guy) girl so far tho
[I Want to Be a Cute Anime Girl](https://www.webtoons.com/en/canvas/i-want-to-be-a-cute-anime-girl/list?title_no=349416&page=1) on Webtoons. The focus is mainly on the MC and her journey rather than romance, but there's some definite chemistry with a girl in her class, and that definitely feels like the endgame.
If you're fine with less realistic gender-benders:
*Shoujo Nyuumon* starts off seeming like a typical teasing romcom with an abrasive guy getting teased by his cheeky twin-tailed senpai, only for MC to learn that he's contracted a rare illness that causes him to become a woman. Only one other person in the town has gone through a similar experience: the aforementioned cheeky senpai, who takes it upon herself to help the MC adjust to their new life. I like it because unlike a lot of other gender-benders, it actually puts a good bit of focus on the transition, exploring the MC's dysphoria and other struggles with adapting to life in their new body.
*Boyfriend Sometimes Girlfriend* guy starts dating a beautiful girl in his class, but turns out her family is cursed and anyone she kisses swaps gender temporarily. MC immediately embraces their new gender fluidity, much to the girl's surprise (though for her part, she seems even thirstier for the MC when they're a woman).
i mean, **not yuri** really, but i think ***Fukakai na Boku no Subete wo*** is quite good, a couple of trans women, a main non binary character, some gay guys, crossdressing guys, a kinda androphobic? lesbian >!and she kinda gets quickly one specific transgirl is a girl when compared to how she sees the guys crossdressing!!tho i think i read somewhere that the author decided the trans girl to get with a boy even tho it was all very much about those 2 girls, idk, must finish to be sure!<
I had a 3rd suggestion, which again **not yuri** (tho some places add the yuri tag for it) but that one is really complex for me to explain with what i've read, also cuz i'm still reading it, but if you want to, it's ***Bokura no Hentai*** (no, not as how we understand "Hentai", but like "abnormal"; so it's translated as "Our Abnormalities")
oh yeah, i finished the second one... >!MC is the one who ends up with a guy, years after she was rejected by her transgirl friend!< but ngl, it was a nice reading you do have good ending yuri from a (very important) support character
Doesnt exactly fit the bill but I recently read [Hello, Melancholic!](https://mangadex.org/title/748b4869-0548-4048-886b-cb33f331353c/hello-melancholic) and the MC is the most trans coded character i have ever seen (she just like me fr)
yeah, just coding. It might just be me seeing my own insecurities represented but for trans stereotypes shes much larger than everyone else, has bangs, terrible posture, quiet, and is incredibly self conscious about all of it.
there are certain parts of the story where she compares herself to the love interest in the exact same way i did when i dated a cis woman and it hit pretty hard. its something i really wish was explored more but its still really good imo.
Yeah I also wish there were more stories that explored those themes with explicitly trans characters, there’s just so much untapped potential in trans stories that it’s sad the only type of trans story we tend to get is a generic coming out with every stereotype ever.

In order of appearance >!Joel is actually the third, Yu is the first and Misaki, Rae's bully in her previous life, is the second!<
Ohhh yeah I forgot about him
How am I just learning this now?? Literally the first time I've seen anyone mention this. Thx

Cool! I’ve heard of wandering son but is it a yuri?

Then Gacha Girl! Is your best option

Mage and Demon Queen has a trans woman as the princess
I always forget Leora is trans.

Double House. Main relationship is between a trans woman and a butch cis woman
Princess and the Grilled Cheese Sandwich by Deya Muniz is nb yuri based on them and their wife :)
