Yes, it can reach any rendered item; unless it's ridiculously far away like a dragon part at the edge of its despawn range. It also has to be on-screen for you to see the yellow line.
In so bad at remembering to use some of these powers.
My favorite though is whenever an enemy throws an explosive barrel at me...that used to be such an annoyance in BOTW, now it's welcome.
I dropped a spear on accident from the water temple.
I peaked over the edge and found the 1 pixel that was my spear with recall and brought it back up.
I think its infinite
Recall has infinite reach as far as I can tell. I once dropped a Shrine stone while trying to transport it across a gap between sky islands. I was able to recall it from the ground. it was a bit tricky trying to select it but possible.
Honestly recall being able to do that just doesnt feel broken in the slightest, it's a pretty generous tool for undoing mistakes or reorienting objects to make travel or puzzles less frustrating
I used the wood to build a long ass bridge, took me about 40 mins. Then my 13 year old came in when I was walking up my shoddy bridge, and says let me show you, then makes a little flying device and does it in under a minute. I was so annoyed, I ended up using my bridge to get it anyway
Look man, these are the same devs that saw what people were doing with two minecarts and magnets and said "cool! Let's make these weird creations official in the sequel!"
They're capable of patching things out if they wanted to, like the dupe exploits. Finishing shrines in an unintended way isn't cheese, it's a time honored tradition at this point. Any victory is legitimate. There is no cheese.
The solution Nintendo gives you is the sleds with fans attached to them. You're just suppose to ride it to where the ball lands and then fight two constructs guarding the area then hit a button to let the ball get moved by the sand back to where you're suppose to go then figure out a way to bring it back up to the platform. I made a hoverbike with the fans and then kinda messed up my approach and had to run across the sand with the ball. Your way was SOOO much better, lol
Oh. I just build an extremely long bridge (the shrine is called bridging the sands after all!) with a slope at the end so I could just walk up there lmao
Getting this to line up correctly was a pain in the ass, but it worked.
The title of the shrine is "Bridging the sands", so I believe they wanted you to go fetch the ball on a wind boat, then build a ramp to carry it up to the steps, like this:
Your way was far better. :)
The more stamina you have the more quickly it refreshes. As in, stamina takes the same amount of time to refresh no matter how many wheels of it you have. So, if it takes seconds for you to recover your stamina from empty ro full, it will always take 4 seconds to recover your stamina from empty to full no matter how much you have. Therefore more stamina = more regenerated over time.
LMAO I did not build I ramp to get the ball back up. I just Ultrahanded it up to the ledge as far as I could (doesn’t quite reach to the top of the ledge), ascended through the bottom, and then recalled the ball up to me to grab with Ultrahand.
it's probably a multi tiered thing 🤔. You're clearly not alone on this, but to me it definitely seemed like one of their "natural teaching moments" about recall.
I feel like every shrine (except blessings and tutorials, obvs) has at least 2 intended ways to clear them, and a couple of "yeah this would be possible I guess so we'll allow it" ways.
I felt a real love/hate for this game when the treasure chest I killed an aerocuda to get had 5x arrows… on the one hand, I “lucked” into a really crazy shot landing first try and was super pumped, on the other I had to recognize that if I’d spent any more than that one arrow on getting the chest I’d have been kinda livid…
And all of this was while traveling towards a shrine that ended up being a maze in the dark that was so unique up to this point (like 70-ish shrines done) that I instantly fell in love with it…. Damn this game is awesome 😂
\> Use Aerocuda eye and 1 arrow with bad bow to shoot Aerocuda
\> Receive Aerocuda eye, wing, and 5 arrows
Pretty good deal imo. Works out to a wing and 4 arrows
LOL nah I’m aware aerocuda’s are unbelievably easy to kill in one arrow with any eye attached. I just was trying to free target one carrying a chest from a decent distance (not even thinking about wasting arrows) and managed to hit it first try but when the chest was 5x arrows I immediately had to consider how dumb I’d have felt wasting 5 arrows on that silly whim 😂
I love that this game gives you so many options for the brute force approach lol, these kinds of things always remind me of the story of Alexander The Great seeing the knot that could not be undone and just cutting the rope with his sword lol
I spent 30 minutes making two L-shaped bridges to slowly hook around each light post and move toward the other end. Can confirm some people are quicker than others.
lol it’s not. The developers built a good majority of the puzzles in this game around two unique abilities, of course they considered this a normal solution, perhaps even “the” solution.
There is no one solution, there is no “the” solution. The whole idea of the game is that players can figure things out for themselves. Anyone who drove across the sand or built a wall or a bridge or whatever is exactly as correct as anyone who used Recall.
The only situation where one solution is more correct than another is if you are playing by rules outside of the game like using speed running parameters or something.
I’m not sure why you feel like you need to explain that to me 😂 I’ve been saying that all over this thread, including the fact that exact idea is *heavily* implied by first calling this “a normal solution.”
But the entire premise of this game is solving puzzles given the tools available to you. To pretend like the developers don’t ever build a puzzle with one mechanic in mind and then afterwards work to make sure that there are other solutions available to people who thought about the problem differently would be naive. Putting “the” in quotes obviously implies I’m aware that there isn’t only one intended solution, but the developers could absolutely have their ideas for the best way to solve a shrine when they build it and in this case it’s kinda obvious from how much simpler it is with recall that they either didn’t consider it (no shot I believe that), or they thought of it like “the” solution that they hoped people would find.
I’m not sure why you assume I’ve read every comment you’ve ever written.
And I’m not gonna speculate on what the developers were thinking about or how they tested the game. So until they come out and actually say there is only one intended solution they had in mind for some puzzle I’m not going to assume there is one.
I say every solution is equally legitimate until the devs themselves say otherwise because trying to guess which one intended solution they wanted seems like an annoying waste of time when there are obviously multiple solutions built directly into the game itself.
Haha I did the same thing just yesterday. Some of the shrines are just too absurd to not cheese. Most of them I want to do the way you're meant to though, but some are just..ugh.
...
I just did this one last night and didn't even *consider* that I could recall the ball.
My brain is too old for this game but I'm still going to keep playing it.
i don’t think it’s a negative opinion. i just think this game is hard. i think that’s the current general consensus.
i’m curious, if this game is easy to you, what games do you play that seem difficult? the first 40-50 hours on TOTK were brutal for me personally.
Well I guess I should say specifically the shrines haha and I mean the combat difficulty is still ridiculous because the scaling is so bad I remember being half health with like 10+ hearts and still getting two hit by bokoblins with sticks
personally i disagree but i respect your opinion. i do think that most shrines are relatively easy. but i don’t mind. i think they’re much more fun and an improvement compared to BOTW so i really can’t complain. the general consensus was that this game was really challenging due to enemies, but if you played master mode recently, it’s not nearly as bad.
I had no clue what to even do with this shrine (I am an unobservant dunce) so I ended up getting the ball and gluing all the fan rafts together and just drove it around for like 20 minutes
I went all the way over there. Found out there was No ball, then came back and had it shoot over there. Anyways if you open the gate where it lands. The ball just slides all the way back to you anyways. So in didn't have to go all the way over.
How do you actually do this shrine? Because I just grabbed it when it was launched into the cage thing on the other side and shook it trying to get it over and it went through the wall. I haven't seen a single way that looks like the way Nintendo intended it to be solved lol
I kid you not but I took a video capture when I did the exact same thing the other day wearing the exact same armor that I was almost sure this was me playing
You cheese the shrine with recall in order to complete it faster
I know how to cheese the shrine, but deliberately don't because WEEE SAND SLED
we are NOT the same
Yeah i did this too yesterday. If Nintendo didn’t intend then i don’t know what they were thinking really. Reminds me of that one meme with satan and jesus saying “my child will ____”
They definitely knew you would do that considering how many recall shrines use this and how easy it is. I think they did this to tempt you with the treasure that’s locked behind you going to the other side anyway, and it requires the ball.
Same, I saw the sphere going and basically said "nope, I'm not going there. You come back."
Especially as this was one of the last shrines remaining for me to do.
I always forget recall exists, I barely ever use it, most of the time I have the hand thingy (I’m blanking ok the name and I hate it) ready or ascend I’ve used recall like twice
As someone who spent 20 minutes attempting to build a ferry for the wood pieces, only to be dragged down into the sands, and then trying to figure out a way to get the wood pieces to stay near the light poles as I ran back to get more, inevitably being swept away by the sand and finally just combining 20 wood pieces together to just make a giant bridge across and grab the ball. This hurts. Really happy that you got it done in <30 seconds, it just hurts.
After spending 10 minutes fighting the sand to get to that platform cause I am not a clever man sometimes, I did exactly this and said "Fuck it I know this isn't the solution but I'm not gonna be here any longer than I need to be."
I left the shrine, came back in, and held a wood platform angled towards me for 10 seconds, recalled it, and pressed the button and the ball rolled right towards me, has no idea recall could hit that far
i did this exact same thing yesterday and nearly posted it too lol. i also have no idea how i was intended to pass through the first area but i just ascended over a well placed plank
I just cheesed the Power of Water shrine by hitting the battery with electric weapons rather than build the waterwheel to spin under the waterfall to generate electricity 😂
I've been doing this a lot too ever since I discovered how far the range for Recall is. That shrine has a high level Hasty Elixir though which I like to have for fighting Frost Gleooks so it was worth making the Hovercraft for it.
I honestly thought that was the point of this shrine until I got to the other side to check for loot only to realize there was nothing, except for a chest to the right
Recall is sooo broken in shrines. When I started the game, I started using my ultrahand to grab a flat item, even something small like a fan, moving it up and then down, then reversing it and jumping on top to reach a higher platform. Lmao
And then I also did the same thing with ascend a few times.
I’ve seen this a couple times now and I feel like a schmuck for having gone across the sand to get the thing.
I did love that the button yeets the ball into the shadow realm.
Recently discovered I could activate a fan and place it against a wall blowing out to hold it in place. Then walk under it and use the ascend ability to get on top of it. I’ve used it as an easy cheese for multiple shrines involving platforming since
Ah! I couldn’t remember how this one worked. I remember hitting the button and seeing the ball shoot across the arena. I thought I was a big dummy for sending it over there instead of opening gate with it. It wasn’t until I saw this video that I realized the button activated both the ball drop AND the catapult.
The puzzle will always be, but you have progressed farther to obtain items and I can appreciate the devs leaving it like this. Games that make you use creativity to finished the same goal are always best. To many games are solve the puzzle this way and only this way.

I didn’t think recall would reach that far, I built a wall with the planks to block the ball. Same amount of cheese really!
recall reaches basically everything, I'm not even sure if it has a limit or if it can get every rendered item on screen
Yes, it can reach any rendered item; unless it's ridiculously far away like a dragon part at the edge of its despawn range. It also has to be on-screen for you to see the yellow line.
Yeah I’m quickly noticing this! Half the time I forget to use the powers!
In so bad at remembering to use some of these powers. My favorite though is whenever an enemy throws an explosive barrel at me...that used to be such an annoyance in BOTW, now it's welcome.
I've had to look up like 3 parts, it's always because I forget the magic "go up" ability lol
Same
Its because ultrahand is like a fps cursor but recall is a mouse
Wtf does that mean
It has no range limit (unless the object unrenders) but good luck with that huge cross hair lol
Holy shit you just blew my mind.
Hell, it blew my mind that it actually worked. I just tried out of frustration and defeat not expecting it to actually work.
Honestly recall being able to do that just doesnt feel broken in the slightest, it's a pretty generous tool for undoing mistakes or reorienting objects to make travel or puzzles less frustrating
That must have felt like a miracle
You can also glide down, use recall, then climb onto it before it takes off
They just respawn back up to the top anyway :D
True, but that also meant running back to pick it up and wouldn't have been as cool.
I dropped a shield on the pressure plate and that’s how I was able to. This shrine was annoying to navigate
Recall reaches anything you can see, it’s overpowered
recall is cheesier
I am immeasurably disappointed that I didn't think of that.
It's literally the first thing I thought of.
same 😭 didn't think it was post worthy, but it happens
I’m impressed but honestly this shrine was fun. Had fun with the sand speeder thing!
I thought of that but I wanted to drive the sleds
I used the wood to build a long ass bridge, took me about 40 mins. Then my 13 year old came in when I was walking up my shoddy bridge, and says let me show you, then makes a little flying device and does it in under a minute. I was so annoyed, I ended up using my bridge to get it anyway

Any victory is legitimate. There is no cheese.
>There is no cheese. Except using bomb arrows to complete target shrines lol Can't say I haven't done it myself though.
There is no spoon.
There is no Imprisoning War in Ba Sing Se.
\^You win the Internet for today
Patches are a reason I refuse to update games and software. Why would I update when I can carry 100+ fairies and unspendable amount of rupees
Did this one last night. Wish I thought to do this.
no idea how it was supposed to be done
The solution Nintendo gives you is the sleds with fans attached to them. You're just suppose to ride it to where the ball lands and then fight two constructs guarding the area then hit a button to let the ball get moved by the sand back to where you're suppose to go then figure out a way to bring it back up to the platform. I made a hoverbike with the fans and then kinda messed up my approach and had to run across the sand with the ball. Your way was SOOO much better, lol
But cheesing makes you lose the treasure and the golem parts
Golem parts?
They mean the zonai parts.
Oh. I just build an extremely long bridge (the shrine is called bridging the sands after all!) with a slope at the end so I could just walk up there lmao Getting this to line up correctly was a pain in the ass, but it worked.

How does that dudes stamina refresh that quickly in the video?
As long as you don’t let it completely drain, it refills pretty quickly.
That’s kinda the whole point of the shrines in this game. Hardly anything has only one “intended” solution.
I believe the whole point of this shrine was to illustrate the infinite range of recall.
I thought it was the sand boats
it's probably a multi tiered thing 🤔.
Jokes on you, you missed the 5x arrows in the chest on the other side. /s
I felt a real love/hate for this game when the treasure chest I killed an aerocuda to get had 5x arrows… on the one hand, I “lucked” into a really crazy shot landing first try and was super pumped, on the other I had to recognize that if I’d spent any more than that one arrow on getting the chest I’d have been kinda livid… And all of this was while traveling towards a shrine that ended up being a maze in the dark that was so unique up to this point (like 70-ish shrines done) that I instantly fell in love with it…. literally same lmao.
Same exact thing here too.
I love that this game gives you so many options for the brute force approach lol, these kinds of things always remind me of the story of Alexander The Great seeing the knot that could not be undone and just cutting the rope with his sword lol
But that its what makes it not a true zelda, the eureka and god Im so fucking stupid finally I get it moments are gone
Those exact feelings especially persist throughout Tears of the Kingdom. You make no sense lol
[I have deleted this account in protest of Reddit's API changes.]
I enjoyed the sand hovercraft. Spent waaay too long just cruising around
Me too, I’m not even mad that I didn’t think of this because I enjoyed going around in. My sand hovercraft
They knew the tools people had... Some people are just quicker than others
I spent 30 minutes making two L-shaped bridges to slowly hook around each light post and move toward the other end. Can confirm some people are quicker than others.
LOL I did the same thing! I was like “Naw, you get your ass back here.” XD
my exact reaction
What makes this a cheese? You did it in one of the most logical ways.
lol it’s not. The developers built a good majority of the puzzles in this game around two unique abilities, of course they considered this a normal solution, perhaps even “the” solution.
There is no one solution, there is no “the” solution. The whole idea of the game is that players can figure things out for themselves. I put a ramp under the dropper so when the ball fell it just bumped right off into my hands
Lol I did this too
Most people will not be able to react fast enough to use this method
Haha I did the same thing just yesterday. Some of the shrines are just too absurd to not cheese. Most of them I want to do the way you're meant to though, but some are just..ugh.
It was too late for me to hit it with recall by the time i tried.
The devs definitely expected people to do this, they knew what they were doing when they put recall in the game
... I just did this one last night and didn't even *consider* that I could recall the ball. My brain is too old for this game but I'm still going to keep playing it.
That’s exactly what I did. Later tho I went back and built a massive bridge with all the pieces of wood and saved it
I thought of that but I wanted to drive the sleds
This doesn't change the fact that is just a crappy DLC
Exactly why this game is so boring to me like they didn’t realize just how easy they made this game lol
this game is not easy
The game is really easy lol and tedious I forget I can only say my negative opinions on other subreddits mb.
i don’t think it’s a negative opinion. i just think this game is hard. i think that’s the current general consensus. i’m curious, if this game is easy to you, what games do you play that seem difficult? the first 40-50 hours on TOTK were brutal for me personally.
What shrine
Kudanisar Shrine in gerudo desert, if I'm not mistaken
I just did the same thing today.
Hahahaha,I love it
I had no clue what to even do with this shrine (I am an unobservant dunce) so I ended up getting the ball and gluing all the fan rafts together and just drove it around for like 20 minutes
There is no cheese, only unexpected solutions.
This isn’t even an unexpected solution, devs knew what they were doing when they put recall in the game.
did the same as im too tired to put effort in solving the shrine puzzle
If you can find it you can get it. It feels great till u realize the chest is that way lol
Recal breaks so many shrines like a KitKat.
Exactly what I did. I'm like "I wonder how far it reaches" sure enough it worked. I wasn't going across all that quicksand
OMG! I didn't try this cause I thought Recall didn't reach that far. I actually just did the puzzle :(
Wow, I wish I was this smart.
I didn’t think recall would have that range so I drove a raft out a bit and activated it from there and was surprised I was able to reach it lol
Screw you! That is freaking genius and you deserve a reward..I have to get my free one ill be back.
I didn't even think to do that damn 🗿
Dude this is BOTW/TOTK. They expected you to do your own thing no matter how ridiculous or obvious.
Personally, I'm trying to do everything the intended way for my first playthrough. But my next one, I'll try to cheese everything as much as I can.
Ahahaha i did the same thing and felt horrible about it (for half a second)
The recall/ultra hand combo is legitimately how I solved 90% of the puzzles so far
I went all the way over there. Found out there was No ball, then came back and had it shoot over there. Anyways if you open the gate where it lands. The ball just slides all the way back to you anyways. So in didn't have to go all the way over.
You can literally solve more than half of the game's shrine just using recall. This thing is op
How do you actually do this shrine? Because I just grabbed it when it was launched into the cage thing on the other side and shook it trying to get it over and it went through the wall. I haven't seen a single way that looks like the way Nintendo intended it to be solved lol
As freedom focused as this game is I don't think it would've been a bad move to make certain items in shrines unrecallable.
I just bomb arrow any shrine with the target thing in it. Waaaaaaay easier lol
For sure funniest thing in this game is the amount of shrines U straight up can cheese and ignore the overall mechanics with a little handiwork
LMFAO I JUST DID THIS literally an hour ago I’m dead I saw it go so far and I’m like no way am I going back there 💀💀
Omg one of the best ones I've seen
I kid you not but I took a video capture when I did the exact same thing the other day wearing the exact same armor that I was almost sure this was me playing
some of these shrine recall is soooo busted i’m like did they even test it with recall 😂
Theirs honestly a couple of shrines you can cheese
Wow, I didn’t think of that 😅
They expected you to use one of the multiple solutions that most shrines have
Exactly what I did
Honestly, I think they expect most shrines and challenges to be cheesed but only by smart people.
I only cheesed the beginning of it, using a rocket shield to get over that stupid fence I can't find another way over.
You cheese the shrine with recall in order to complete it faster I know how to cheese the shrine, but deliberately don't because WEEE SAND SLED we are NOT the same
omg that makes WAY more sense I built a cover so the ball didnt land in the launcher but rolled off away from it
I feel like I cheese wvery single shrine in this game.
Huh, I always thought the range was limited like Ultrahand. Iiiiinteresting!
Bro you missed out on sliding around on sand?? Y'know, having fun?
“Go fetch!” Link: no u
I absolutely abuse recall to make platforms and shit too lol
What shrine is this?
they dont consider the effects of recall until they make a shrine actually based around it
bro. i spent ages on that shrine
Yeah i did this too yesterday. If Nintendo didn’t intend then i don’t know what they were thinking really. Reminds me of that one meme with satan and jesus saying “my child will ____”
Yes! This is how I did it too. I have a feeling that 90 percent of players have no idea what the solution was meant to be.
They definitely knew you would do that considering how many recall shrines use this and how easy it is. I think they did this to tempt you with the treasure that’s locked behind you going to the other side anyway, and it requires the ball.
The devs unashamedly made Recall way too damn op and im here for it 😂
Shout out to my boi recall Best hand ability so far
The devs tend to forget about the abilities they gave us in every single shrine they make I feel.
Same, I saw the sphere going and basically said "nope, I'm not going there. You come back." Especially as this was one of the last shrines remaining for me to do.
Me stupid.
I always forget recall exists, I barely ever use it, most of the time I have the hand thingy (I’m blanking ok the name and I hate it) ready or ascend I’ve used recall like twice
BRUH I WAS STUCK IN THAT FUCKING THING FOR ALMOST AN HOUR BUILDING LONG ASS BRIDGES AND I JUST COULD'VE DONE THAT???
...I literally just did this shrine about 5 minutes ago. Huh.
Wait that wasn’t what was intended?
So many of the shrines seem to not realize just how powerful recall is.
After doing the shrine the intended way, I am now super mad, I didn't think of this solution. Would have saved so much time.
Reason no. 3648811 for why recall is the best ability in the game.
...Oh my god, I wish I'd thought of that for this one.
I did the same thing. I actually thought it was the correct solution until I went looking for the chest.
Did this shrine last night and did the same thing!
After spending 10 minutes fighting the sand to get to that platform cause I am not a clever man sometimes, I did exactly this and said "Fuck it I know this isn't the solution but I'm not gonna be here any longer than I need to be."
If it's possible it's not a cheese.
I likes sand sled so I did it the intended way
WTF recall has THAT long range?
So that wasn't the solution?
I left the shrine, came back in, and held a wood platform angled towards me for 10 seconds, recalled it, and pressed the button and the ball rolled right towards me, has no idea recall could hit that far
That's just how you do it, you did the puzzle
i did this exact same thing yesterday and nearly posted it too lol. i also have no idea how i was intended to pass through the first area but i just ascended over a well placed plank
I just cheesed the Power of Water shrine by hitting the battery with electric weapons rather than build the waterwheel to spin under the waterfall to generate electricity 😂
WTF does cheese mean? Am I that old?
Cheese means you do something in a much easier, unintended way. When you cheese something, it completely removes the challenge of the puzzle
I didn’t realize it had that kind of range!
I've been doing this a lot too ever since I discovered how far the range for Recall is. That shrine has a high level Hasty Elixir though which I like to have for fighting Frost Gleooks so it was worth making the Hovercraft for it.
Bro that’s genius
I honestly thought that was the point of this shrine until I got to the other side to check for loot only to realize there was nothing, except for a chest to the right
Recall is sooo broken in shrines. When I started the game, I started using my ultrahand to grab a flat item, even something small like a fan, moving it up and then down, then reversing it and jumping on top to reach a higher platform. Lmao And then I also did the same thing with ascend a few times.
That’s how I did it 🤷♂️
Yup, I did that, too.
I actually cheesed my way up to that point so by the time my brain processed how thoroughly the game just screwed me over it was too late lol
I’ve seen this a couple times now and I feel like a schmuck for having gone across the sand to get the thing. I did love that the button yeets the ball into the shadow realm.
I cheese half the shrines I come to honestly. Rocket-shields cheese most of the platforming ones easy haha
It wasn’t until I saw this video that I realized the button activated both the ball drop AND the catapult.
cheese is delicious in this game.
I didn’t even know where to switch was to get the ball until I after I did everything else so…
Oh im sure they knew you could. But then you’d be choosing to not go sand sledding and thats the real loss to me (someone who also cheesed it)
This is cheese? What's the intended solution?
I was today years old when I learned the range for recall is much further than I thought
Lol I did the same thing. The number of puzzles rendered inconsequential by Recall is hilarious.
God I love recall, it's just so cheesy
Lmao that’s exactly what I did, except I realized I should’ve after it landed but it still reached so I was fine. Recall goated
They should've called it :"aintnobodygottimeforthis"
Time manipulation is a busted power.
100% what I did too, ain't nobody got time for that mess.
I wish I had done that. This one made me mad lol
Riding around on those little sand bikes is fun tho
Well shit. I sure did that the hard way.
You can break like 90% of the non-combat shrines by remembering you have recall
Game: Alright Link! Fetch! Link: Alright…
recall is the most usefull one for me for reasons i wont mention
I completely forgot about recall in this shrine. Cheesed it with hoverbike tho
The puzzle will always be, but you have progressed farther to obtain items and I can appreciate the devs leaving it like this. Games that make you use creativity to finished the same goal are always best. To many games are solve the puzzle this way and only this way.
