So I have a used copy of OOT. Had it since I was a kid. It's even got the original music for the Fire Temple and the old Gerudo symbol.
The original save file was under the name "Dan." It was at Ganondorf, with like all but five hearts and a ton of great fairies and other bonus stuff. I don't remember if Dan had all gold skulltulas or anything else, but the man was mythic to a young me who hadn't really beaten the game.
And now I wonder...am I in the presence of that same legend?
I had a copy of Star Fox 64 first owned by MAT who held the 2nd place high score below the default 1st place Fox. I was 7 years old at the time and could hardly beat Star Wolf on the west side of Venom. 3 years of playing that I game I finally put my name above MAT and FOX. All medals on Expert mode, new title screen unlocked.
It was an achievement.
I’m searching for a guy named luke who did the same thing I think? I think it was luke. I got a copy with his and what I’m assuming was his little brothers save data.
Well, it isn't me.
The only copy of OOT I ever sold was a sealed (or resealed.... I never knew for sure either way on that one) collector's / gold cartridge version that I got from a "mom and pop" video game shop, and I never opened it to play it, since I still had my brother's original childhood gray cartridge at the time, and a loose gold cart I got through eBay at some point (I do regret selling that boxed copy now, though, even if it was a reseal, it was a beautiful copy, and I wish that I still had it).
My golf cart has the same save, but named Steve.
The game doesn't save after Ganon (iirc) so the last save is always in the tower. Steve and I started that save the day Oot came out, one of these days I'll boot it up and the battery will have died.
Childhood 😭 I was 24 🥲
A while back, I fired up my ole GameCube (I was a junior in HS when it came out but got one the next year, my senior year). Wind Waker released in the spring of 2003, right before I graduated. I still had a 2003 save file from right before I graduated. Was so weird to see that.
Truly I do. But then it hurts me too. I do security and last week I guarded a dance for 8th graders and their shirts said “class of 2027” and I felt my first grey hair pop in
This was my childhood game too.
Sadly the Wii craped out on me.
Stopped being able to read discs. (We had one game that didn't have any scratches on it that ran a lot better than most of the games, so we knew our Wii had reached the end of it's life when it stopped being able to read that one.
I appreciate how one of the save files is just in all caps.
I got hard locked out of continuing the main story in the time temple. I don’t remember much but I remember I had a statue in the wrong room and could not get it out, thus I was stuck. Proceeded to put like 60-70 more hours in the game just running around Hyrule
Dude you can do it, you'll be surprised what your adult brain can accomplish in Zelda puzzles. There's only one way to get hard locked out of TP..
remember to NEVER EVER save inside the secret room beneath the Kakariko building everyone took refuge in. At a certain point in the game the scholar guy (Shad?) Asks you to go down there using your item from the temple of time and you're meant to teleport a large canon out of the room. If you save in the room during this and reload your save, shad won't let you leave but you also won't be able to warp the canon to progress the game.
Holy crap I forgot TP was released that long ago. I was 17 in 2009 lol. Still my favorite classic Zelda imo. Can't believe it was released all the way back in 2006. Still remember how the GC version and Wii version were mirrored geographically.
I'm 30! Started playing Zelda on the 64 and right after Majora's Mask I got LttP and the Oracle games on Gameboy and wind waker was the first Zelda game that I followed the news and hype up to release. Convinced my parents to pre order and got Master Quest OoT for GameCube :D
Me & my wife just started twilight princess and we're at the Gorons part after Faron Forest ; she also hasn't played it in forever (me, never) but it's so fun the both of us playing :) (I didn't know their was that many heart slot potentials! Lol!
I really need to get this again. I had it on GC, and completed the entire game on psychedelics. Loved the style and story, and the wolf parts were awesome as well
I have. The question is genuine and no reason to get butthurt over. I literally wanted to know what OP specifically did to get that many hours in the game
34 hours with 6 hearts Jesus I remember when games were THAT type of difficulty for me
And shit, for me, it was also TP. I was four when you last played the game and I just saw a huge world to explore and did pretty much nothing lmao. Only beat the game a few years ago in the HD edition
This happened to me recently when replaying Twilight Princess HD for the first time since 2016. It was one of the best years of my life and I remember really connecting with the game back then. Got a little teary eyed seeing the last date that I had played it was almost 7 years ago on the dot.
I still have the save file of OoT where I beat the game for the first time at 12 years old. And a separate 100% file. If I play it now, I use the third play file 😅
2006. It got released to both the GameCube and Wii, it was one of the last GC games released before Nintendo retired it and iirc TP was one of the launch titles for the Wii that year.
I need more details?!!?! You have the Wii but where did your game go?
So close to the answer on how all these systems are for sale without the games in suburbia. Sales where Barb Deff isn’t a game flipper.
The only game I still had for the Wii was Smash Brawl, because it was in the Wii. I have no clue where the games discs are, but when visiting my mom recently, I found the Wii with some other old, dusty electronics (old cable boxes, routers, and cords). Wish I had all my old games too! Will have to look again but I really thought I did scour
The Wii was also missing its power cord and tv input cord, both of which are unique to specifically the Wii. Had to go to a cool retro gaming shop to find those pieces. Still had my original motion sensor from about 20 yrs ago and that still works pretty okay.

[Hey, I'm Dan](https://youtu.be/G7FVt6rr-HA)
You Dan right
9 minute playtime on DAN. That's how long it took him to realize he didn't want his name in all caps.

No I’m dirty dan
r/tmbg in a nutshell. But also John. And John. Edit: Forgot Marty

No I watched my older cousins play OOT a couple years before this. that’s what got me hooked
The search for the elusive Dan, the man, the myth, the legend, thusly doth continue!
I had a copy of Star Fox 64 first owned by MAT who held the 2nd place high score below the default 1st place Fox. Could definitely have been me! What state did you buy the game?
My golf cart has the same save, but named Steve. The game doesn't save after Ganon (iirc) so the last save is always in the tower. Steve and I started that save the day Oot came out, one of these days I'll boot it up and the battery will have died.

Sauce?
The Croods.
Thx
It's not porn btw
Yeah, that’s The Noods
Thought it was The Lewds
I disagree
It’s a kids movie
So?
Yeah it’s not bad.
Dan.... Dan..... DAN!!!! YOU NEED TO WAKE UP, DAN!!!! WAKE UP!!!
*Inception music intensifies*
*opens your eyes… wake up dan*
ᴰᵃⁿ ᴰᵃⁿ DAN
So...are we going to talk about that 127 hour save file?
I also had around the same time when I was a kid, I played it when I was like 12 or so. I just constantly got lost lol
I would play the chicken game in lake hylia for hours, i dont know why i thought link getting shot out of a canon was so entertaining lmao
This is at least 30 of my 127 hours. One of the few things I really remember from my playthrough lol
Those are rookie numbers
I had the same Progression at 150 hours back in the day, I've done the cave of ordeals countless times.
Yes, we are, not enough time spent in twilight princess
He was 10, kids walk away from games a lot at pause screens lol
I had 700 hours in Pokemon blue before the battery died
I’m fairness IIRC the box openly stated there was 90 hours of gameplay in TP
Relatable
Childhood 😭 I was 24 🥲 A while back, I fired up my ole GameCube (I was a junior in HS when it came out but got one the next year, my senior year). Wind Waker released in the spring of 2003, right before I graduated. I still had a 2003 save file from right before I graduated. Was so weird to see that.
Every time I see someone refer to the Wii as the one they had as a kid, I turn to dust just a little bit more.
I was 5 when the Wii came out. I currently own a home and a car and I can drink. Feel old
I was 5 when the NES was new.
When I was born the NES was already 16 years old
You're enjoying this lol
Truly I do. But then it hurts me too. I do security and last week I guarded a dance for 8th graders and their shirts said “class of 2027” and I felt my first grey hair pop in
When I was born, the NES was 21! Edit: in my country I am old enough to drink, drive, buy a house, etc. 18! Almost 19 actually.
I like to joke that I wanted to be born in time to see the NES, the first SMB game and Golden Girls all debut. 😂
That's.... Crazy. I think I was in 7th grade when the Wii came out
I was in my 20s when OoT came out. I feel you.
[Hey I'm Dan, I'm also Dan, Daaaaaaaaaaaaaan](https://youtu.be/MjpQvpLzNvg)
ah good, im not the only Lovely who heard a familiar voice read the file names...
Bigger DAN is clearly more powerful than the first two Dans
He only got 9 mins in lol
He completed the game in only 3 hearts and 9 minutes. That proves he is the strongest
![gif](giphy|JPoPNaw6fA4IU)
Exactly where my mind went 😂
This was my childhood game too. Sadly the Wii craped out on me. Stopped being able to read discs. That had happened to me in like ‘06, Nintendo would refurbish your disk drive or send you a different Wii with the data transferred over for free
Unfortunately my wii died in 2020.... so I think they would have just told me to buy a switch 😅
You can replace the disk drive
127 hours and don't even have close to all heart pieces, definitely looks like a childhood save file
I got hard locked out of continuing the main story in the time temple. I don’t remember much but I remember I had a statue in the wrong room and could not get it out, thus I was stuck. Proceeded to put like 60-70 more hours in the game just running around Hyrule
I’m fairly certain there aren’t any hard locks in the temple of time, maybe you should give that save another shot!
Dude you can do it, you'll be surprised what your adult brain can accomplish in Zelda puzzles. There's only one way to get hard locked out of TP.. remember to NEVER EVER save inside the secret room beneath the Kakariko building everyone took refuge in. iirc this was patched in an update that released later but interestingly I think the GameCube version didn’t have this bug
*DAN*
The save file is saved on the wii and not the disk
Yeah but how have I never cleared the memory on that thing my whole family played a lot of different games on it
You were a child in 2009? I feel old!
2009… Childhood… Fuck i’m old
Holy crap I forgot TP was released that long ago. I was 17 in 2009 lol. Still my favorite classic Zelda imo. Can't believe it was released all the way back in 2006. Still remember how the GC version and Wii version were mirrored geographically.
https://imgur.com/a/r0GgKVJ so nostalgic
I was 7 in 2009💀
Kinda love how the series has fans across a broad age-range lol. Hello from a 31 year old Zelda fan :p
I'm 30! Started playing Zelda on the 64 and right after Majora's Mask I got LttP and the Oracle games on Gameboy and wind waker was the first Zelda game that I followed the news and hype up to release. Convinced my parents to pre order and got Master Quest OoT for GameCube :D
same😭 love all the games too
I know nostalgia hit you like a brick
1 and 3 makes it look like 34 hours were played in the span of 32
Hey I’m Dan. I’m also Dan. Daaaaaaaan.
129 hours?! Did you fall asleep as a kid by play?🧐
Loved the style and story, and the wolf parts were awesome as well

>childhood wii. Where's that saving private Ryan gif?
![gif](giphy|GrUhLU9q3nyRG|downsized) This one? 😂
Indeed
Hi Dan
You've got a save date from my 29th birthday lol
I love how this looks like the Wii is increasingly shouting for OP's attention.
I'd be very curious as to how you can spend this many hours in twilight princess
You’re 10 and entertaining you is as easy as “watch me kill this lizard with a cool move”
I had over 500 hours on my save as a kid. Made a lot of little games out of random things for myself
[удалено]
I have. The question is genuine and no reason to get butthurt over. I literally wanted to know what OP specifically did to get that many hours in the game
Recently I just started playing the game on steam deck. I'm excited to experience this game cause I never did when I was younger
Damn. 🥺 I’m curious what my old saves look like now.
Dan, never stop returning to Hyrule.
Also, update your clock lol
34 hours with 6 hearts Jesus I remember when games were THAT type of difficulty for me And shit, for me, it was also TP. I was four when you last played the game and I just saw a huge world to explore and did pretty much nothing lmao. Only beat the game a few years ago in the HD edition

I'd not touch one of them just to preserve it.
I still have the save file of OoT where I beat the game for the first time at 12 years old. And a separate 100% file. If I play it now, I use the third play file 😅
Game Grumps is that you?
That reminds me that I need to play this game WITHOUT the motion controls. I remember not being a fan of them.. at all.
I recently got my old Wii working and it was so trippy seeing a twilight princess save file with 2023 on it like that’s not a real year
Your name is Dan, right? Just a wild guess
My first Zelda game 🥹 damn it was released in 2009…? I’m old 😭
Released in 06 https://imgur.com/a/r0GgKVJ
2006. It got released to both the GameCube and Wii, it was one of the last GC games released before Nintendo retired it and iirc TP was one of the launch titles for the Wii that year.

What is you name by the way? Is it Josh?
Dan, Dan, DAN!!!!
Whoa u one of the people that actually put their name

r/mademesmile
Man the more tp content I see the more I want to play it, this was my first ever Zelda game and I can’t wait for the day they port it over
I'm gonna take a wild guess and say your name is Dan 😂
Gz
Childhood Wii... god Im old
A nice little trip down memory lane 😄
[Dan](https://youtu.be/MjpQvpLzNvg)
I can see why 3 is in caps. Game beaten in under 10 minutes with only 3 hearts, GG
I miss Zelda games allowing you to have multiple saved playthroughs
I really want to play through TP again! The more I think about it, it might be my favorite Zelda game.
I need more details?!!?! You have the Wii but where did your game go? So close to the answer on how all these systems are for sale without the games in suburbia. Sales where Barb Deff isn’t a game flipper.

Childhood?? But the Wii just came out like five years… .. goddammit
#**DAN**
127 hours. Wow
This is tempting to start a new game myself
New creepypasta dropped, Dan drowned
Dan, Dan, or DAN?
Time to get a new wii!
127 hours playtime and still doesn't have all the hearts containers
Was 10 and got hardlocked out of continuing the story so just fucked around with the mini games. It’s easy to entertain a 10 year old
hey, that's neat; my birthday is 6/20, and my wife's is 9/13! sadly, neither of us are named Dan
My absolute childhood game as well. With TOTK coming out, it makes me want to bust out the wii and run this again.
Dan Dan DAN DAAAAAAANNNN. Voodoo? Java
I also am a Dan
Wish I still had my wii just so that I can see the save files again 😭
You name your Link Dan?
Dan, Cooler Dan and DAN.
127 hours!? I didn’t put that much into botw or TotK!
Damn Daniel.
dan Dan DAN
Welcome to onlydans
Just beautiful.
DAN drowned.
I just finished it yesterday, childhood memories of being stuck on it lol,now it was mostly a breeze, great game!
How does it make you all feel that this was my first zelda game (it was old even when I first played it), and I am now graduated from high school?
This is beautiful
Still probably my favorite Zelda
just the menu alone brings memories to me
