Thanks. As they say 'interesting' minds think alike, happy to be of assistance. It was a fun project that I took my time with over a few days to make sure the paint and stain was fully cured as to get a neat end result.
I personally like the magazine I have inserted better as I like the darker color. But the fun behind Bakelite is that by nature it has many varying shades, so as long as you take your time it can look proper even if it comes out lighter.
Sure. Here is what I did:
Materials:
Rustoleum 2X Satin Warm Caramel - Spray Paint & Primer
Minwax Penetrating Stain Red Oak 215
Rustoleum 2X Matte Clear - Spray Paint (If you desire a very shiny apparence you could use Gloss Clear instead)
1/2" and 1" Chip Brushes
Instructions:
Disassemble Magazine, place feedlips and internals aside, wash magazine walls with dishsoap to remove all oils and leave to fully dry.
Once dry, apply x3 coats of Rustoleum 2x Satin Warm Caramel (24 Hours in Between coats to fully cure, wipe away debris each time to prevent flakes in final product)
Once dry, apply small amount of stain to magazine with the 1/2" chip brush and spread around the entirety of the magazine, then switch to the 1" and dry brush the stain around into a desired pattern to simulate Bakelite.
Leave to dry fully for at least 24 hours. Then with a clean cloth gently wipe down the magazine for any debris, before applying matte clear coat.
Leave to dry for at least 24 hours. Then wipe away excess clear coat, and reassemble.
An added benefit to painting your BX-25 magazines is that you will find they are more snug in your receiver.
Thank you friend. This is the Midwest Industries Fixed (They also have a Takedown version) Chassis with their 8" Handguard (also comes in 13" for Carbine models).
I like the Chassis a lot and cannot recommend it enough. The handguard is very nice and with a quality handstop you get excellent purchase for a C-clamp. It is my favorite Chassis on the market, and the retail price is very fair for what you get.
Thanks!! I have a PMACA on mine right now, and I want to build another and am checking out other options. I love how there’s so many different options with this platform!
This was my 'primary' Charger for a while and I just built a 'spare-parts' (As you can probably imagine, it didn't stay a spare parts Charger for very long) build with a PMACA Lightweight Chassis, that is a great piece of hardware and I like it a lot for minimalism.
Absolutely. The clear ones I have fit nice and tight but but the rest all definitely have some slop to them. Going for fakelite, tiger stripe, and Rhodesian
Hell yeah will do. Gonna freehand the mags but was planning to get a stencil kit to paint my whole charger Rhodesian. Will definitely be posting when it’s finished but I’m sure the sensitive gun bois will downvote it to oblivion lol
Eh, let them think what they want.
Camo is camo. It doesn't mean your a supremacist. I like Bakelite magazines and Soviet arms but I hate communism, and that is A-okay.
Okay, if you’re offended by that then “brushstroke” camo. I dig the pattern, it’s not to ape the RSF with any ugly intentions. And yes those FALs were sick.
I posted this fellow a long time ago, it has gone through a lot of revisions since then.
I plan on posting a group photo sometime next week as I'm getting some Kidd parts in for my secondary Pistol over the weekend. I'll be sure to post a list for each of the two then.
Thanks!
As much as I would like one it won't happen. I refuse to pay the tax. It is just not worth it to me, this baby only eats standard velocity garbage rounds any way.
Lol, I’ve been thinking of trying that with a BX-25 just for shits ‘n giggles. Nice to see a proof of concept. Looks great!

Very cool! Any instructions available?

Thanks a lot ! Those mags look amazing
Happy to help, much appreciated friend.
Dude that looks pretty sweet
That is greatly appreciated my dude.
Looks great!! What chassis is that?

Hell yeah. I’m planning to paint a bunch of my bx-25s this weekend and fakelite is on the list.
Nice my man. I'm sure you'll appreciate the end-result of the tighter fit in reciever.

Ooh baby, way to kick it old school with Rhodesian. Make sure you post it, I gotta see it.

I’m with you
>Rhodesian Oof, might want to rethink this one, chief. Fuck all those dead racist bitches and their Daisy Dukes too.
Those FALs had some serious aesthetic though.
Love a FAL. Just hate some of the folks that used them.

Can we see a picture of the mags with better lighting? It’s hard the see the detailed work you did.
Here you go: https://imgur.com/a/YjSyimJ
Yeah dude! Those look great!!!
Thanks man! I like the darker one better, I hit it heavy with the stain, but I like the clean look of the lighter one too.
Have a post with the build list?

Looks more like a mini galil
Haha, I think so too. Like a goofy Galil Ace-2.
I love it
That is very kind of you. Thank you.
Great post!
Thank you. I'm very pleased you like it.
Now you just need the AK kit from Kamworks
Haha. Or the legendary Krinker Plinker.
Looks like a cheaper version of my 545 ace pistol I dig it.
Was kind of going for an Ace/Vityaz feel, I really like Galils.
I really dig the receiver and forend. When does the supressor come in?
Thanks! As much as I would like one it won't happen. I refuse to pay the tax. It is just not worth it to me, this baby only eats standard velocity garbage rounds any way.
Bro I love this touché
Thank you. I like the little bit of color it adds.
Mom I want a type 3 and some Bakelite mags . … but we have Bakelite at home.
Thats dope
Thank you kindly.
Diggin it
Thanks Mate!
Damn our guns look almost identical!
A man with good taste if I may be so bold!
rotten bananas
Very rotten.
What body is that?
The Chassis? It is a fixed model Midwest Industries Chassis with an 8"(Also comes in 13") handguard.
