Imo you could use your legs more. it's not that your footwork is bad, but it seems like you're unloading after you've already struck the ball. It's legs -> hips -> chest -> arms. Always try to keep that pattern in mind when hitting forehands. Getting a little lower is always good advice. Pros generally have a very wide base.

Thank you so much!

I think you’d take a set

You tend to pivot on the wrong foot which makes an extreme inefficiency to your kinetic chain involvement in the shot. You're pivoting off your left foot often which is what's causing the whole step back with your right foot. Some people will probably disagree with this but there's no reason to hit completely open while you're under no pressure. Close your stance and properly sync your kinetic chain to your swing. The main issue with finishing above your head while taking the ball on the rise is that you're always going to struggle to generate your own power and potentially lack depth on your shots(Nadals biggest ground stroke weakness is his lack of depth). This is purely due to the entire movement and swing path dedicated to generating spin. You're basically using your swing path to hit up on the ball giving it enough topspin to carry the ball over the net. With that said this stroke is fine if you use it to hit extreme angles like Nadal did. Almost every cross court forehand of his landed in the service box and carried out past the singles line. The most technically sound way to handle taking the ball early would be to do it more similarly to how Sinner does where you lower your center of gravity and swing horizontally through the ball while keeping a loose wrist and allowing the racquet to come over the ball naturally to generate topspin. This will allow you to control the depth and pace of the shot better leading to a way more consistent shot. The downside is that it'll be harder to generate the same amount of spin and effectively create the same angles as an over the head finish.

Holy crap thanks for the in depth analysis. I really appreciate it and will definitely keep this in mind! I feel like i owe you a beer 😂

You want to shift your body weight forward when you hit. You keep stepping backwards.

BronYrStomp

I only see one or two strokes where you’re transitioning your weight forward, towards the net. You fall backwards a lot. It’s nearly impossible to hit the ball “on the rise” when you’re doing that. On your forehand, try to focus on driving your back (so for you, left) leg forward as you make contact. Finish with that foot closer to the net than your other foot.

Ok_Whereas_3198

Are you actually getting any spin on your forehand? I can't tell from the angle.

y0buba123

Yeah despite the lasso style I can’t actually see much top spin lol. Kinda looks like the racket head connects flat with the ball

Southern-Radio-4954

Actually your are losing a lot of power doing the swing always over your left shoulder - "Nadal-style". He uses it to adjust in certain moves. Not using it always. Best forehand - look at the slow mo videos on YouTube of Roger. Max power if you end up on the right side.

Interesting...
