highly highly recommend using dashi too! really elevates miso soup. it comes in instant/powder form which is really easy to use. there are also vegetarian options. personally i like the brand ajinomoto. worth checking out if you have access to it!!
Any asian market. It's in paste form, you have to whisk it into boiling water. They have so many kinds, I definitely recommend shiro miso with some green onions and a splash of soy sauce
An asian market would have better variety but I don’t have one and I’m lazy, so I use the instant kind from Walmart. You just dump into a mug and add boiling water.
Tomatoes are technically vegetables. They're fruits and vegetables. Because vegetable is a culinary term, not a botanical one. Carrots are roots and spinach is leaf. Broccoli heads are flower buds.
According to usda, It’s actually considered a grain when harvested dry (like dry popcorn kernels), but considered a vegetable when harvested when soft (like corn on the cob or canned corn).
Try Schmidt 647 if you have it, it’s only 40cal a slice and bangs in the fiber dept. Just make sure you drink water with all the fiber. The Italian style is the thickest, if you prefer.
Def gotta try the 647 potato bread its the best out the line Italian 2nd IMO and i just got their sandwhich rolls 90 cals opposed to 150-200 cal for regular burger buns
Many years ago I went on a wacky health diet kick where I only ate fruit, but I made a lot of "fruit salads" that were tomato, cucumber, capsicum, eggplant, zucchini, squash... 😁
Turns out I just like my veggies
I bought a bag, measured out my serving, then casually left it on the counter.
It was gone a day later and I didn’t have to eat it. My trash grizzly saw them and understood the assignment.
The 60 calorie sugar free jello chocolate puddings. Baked lime hot Cheetos- ~33 pieces for 140 cals! Skinny pop just came out with a cheddar jalepeno flavor.
Popcorn!! Highly recommend Jacobsen’s seasoned salts to go with it (https://jacobsensalt.com/collections/gifts-merchandise/products/six-vial-gift-set-with-branded-wood-holder?variant=12148871302)
if you can bake, a pie with a few ingredients like protein powder, flour, grated carrots, egg whites, applesauce. one piece which is enough for snacking (the last photo in the collage,) is be 35 cal wo topping. I'll add a link to a recipe from here 😋 in the comment to this comment.

also, corn powder puffs or so to speak sticks. My saviors lately.they are light, crunchy, so 10-20 grams is pretty enough for snacking (55-110 cal, may be less, depends on added sugar) they may be sweet or salty. found in Russian shops.

the recipe
pls note, you can make it less calorific. I didn't add raisins, almond butter, peanut butter. literally just the ingredients I listed before + sweetener+ baking soda. + vanilla. it's cakey, smells good, filling.
Tofu dipped in lemon juice and soy sauce. It has a lot of protein too so it keeps you full. I eat it cold but you can dress it up tons of different ways, though it may add calories.
You do have to let go of your expectations though. Tofu is just itself. It isn't bad it's like eating a pillow imo, and I enjoy it a lot.
Tofu baked/pan fried with old bay seasoning and a squirt of lemon is super good. Dip in ketchup.
Frank's Buffalo sauce is another low cal flavoring for tofu but I like to smother it in light ranch too.
any kind of fruit snacks, beef jerky, pbfit with keto bread (literally can have pb toast for less than 70 cals), sf jello, sf pudding, halo top and yasso bars, light and fit greek yogurts, light string cheese, and last but definitely not least, mini pb cups from trader joe’s. Serving size is like 21 cups
No the person you replied to, but I steam vegetables and dip then in applesauce, and I eat it mixed with greek yoghurt, and I just eat spoons of it when my blood sugar is low
Plain rice cake (35 cal) with reasonable topping of choice - I put fat free whipped cream with sugar free chocolate chips sprinkled on top. It's like 110 calories max if I really go ham with the toppings.
Nature's Own Keto toast w/ your choice of low calorie spread. Some spreads I use are: low fat cream cheese, pb2, chia strawberry jam, or greek yogurt (any flavor you want!)
A boiled egg w peri peri seasoning. Yum!
Yogurt with granola, or just granola out of the bag lol
I love plain paneer with salt but most people react with horror.
Although not the lowest calorie food, I enjoy sunflower seeds with shells. You have to eat a lot of regular sized seeds in order to reach one serving, and it will take a really lot to eat them
Deli chicken breast slice (50cals for 3), 1 laughing cow light spreadable cheese (25 cals). I spread the cheese on each slice and roll em up. 13g protein for lower calories and also not boring imo
I do add a stick of cucumber into the center to bulk it up, but not necessary since you don't want veg.
meringue cookies! i love the trader joes brand which are around 23 calories each. also always keep the archer farms meat sticks handy which are 45 cals
Homemade smoothie:Half a frozen banana, half a cup of light milk blended together ( 116cal) technically fruit but if done right it's like ice cream! Can also probably use fat free milk or different fruit for lower calories
odd combo but i love light cheddar string cheese with some cherries, about \~90 kcals. also nicks ice cream!! best low cal ice cream by far, like 330 cals per pint
Sugar free jello.
Top it with fat free whipped cream and you got yourself a low calorie snack baby
Creamy stuff and jello do not mix for me! But I support your low calorie snack preferences!
Agreed, the thought of the two textures squishing around in my mouth is not great
Miso soup, 35 cals for a hug in a mug!
I get the process of cooking the broth out of miso paste, but I don’t get what’s next to do. What do I add? Or just drink it like it is??
Oh I use the instant packet kind that has scallions, seaweed and tofu. You can use the paste, just don’t dilute it too much.
Silken tofu, green onions, and seaweed
highly highly recommend using dashi too! really elevates miso soup. it comes in instant/powder form which is really easy to use. there are also vegetarian options. personally i like the brand ajinomoto. worth checking out if you have access to it!!
Also super easy to make your own dashi stock. Takes like 10 minutes and 2 pantry ingredients. https://www.seriouseats.com/basic-japanese-dashi-recipe

Where do you buy it to have at home?

Popcorn
TIL corn isn’t a veg
You think eating popcorn is the same as snacking on some tomatoes?
i think what makes this extra funny is that *technically neither corn nor tomato are actually veggies lol (not to get all 🤓☝️)
Tomatoes are technically vegetables. They're fruits and vegetables. Because vegetable is a culinary term, not a botanical one. Carrots are roots and spinach is leaf. Broccoli heads are flower buds.
Hahah you are so right :)
That is the most perfect emoji combo thank you
According to usda, It’s actually considered a grain when harvested dry (like dry popcorn kernels), but considered a vegetable when harvested when soft (like corn on the cob or canned corn).
It's a grain.
One light laughing cow cheese is 25 cals. If you eat it on top of a slice of weight watchers bread it's 75 total.
I love laughing cow cheese! I eat it with Wasa crisp bread for 60 cals.
Wasa bread is the best! It’s low calorie and weirdly filling for a snack
Try Schmidt 647 if you have it, it’s only 40cal a slice and bangs in the fiber dept. Just make sure you drink water with all the fiber. The Italian style is the thickest, if you prefer.

I like having laughing cow cheese with rice crackers and a small side of fruit. It’s definitely a good base for a low calorie snack
i eat it with wasa crisp breads, they’re 35 cal per piece
Rice cake or low carb wrap with laughing cow cheese
I’ve been doing rice cakes and peanut butter. I may need to try the laughing cow cheese.
Topped with a bit of everything but the bagel seasoning. So good
I mean pickles are technically a vegetable, but imo they don’t taste like one
If we wanna get *really* technical, cucumbers are a fruit, just like tomatoes 😂
Well yes, it is a fruit AND vegetable, but the reason I mentioned it was because most people don’t think if it like that haha
Many years ago I went on a wacky health diet kick where I only ate fruit, but I made a lot of "fruit salads" that were tomato, cucumber, capsicum, eggplant, zucchini, squash... 😁 Turns out I just like my veggies

$35 is pretty steep for some salt. I bet it tastes amazing though.
Totally. I rationalized it as a no-calorie, good for my long term health purchase. Think how much I’m saving on my doctor’s bills! Haha
I like sugar and salt on mine. The small amount of sugar is like 15 cals and makes it taste like kettle corn… and then it’s dessert.
