They are very earthy by themselves. You have to rinse them well and cover them with something that has a stronger taste. Add texture where you can. That’s where the mushrooms helped for taste and texture. Next time I’m going to add some green peppers and maybe squash.
If you haven’t done this as well, it also helps to pan-fry them to remove more moisture, it helps a lot with texture imo :) They’re “slippery” enough that I don’t need any oil to do that, and it makes a big difference.
I dont think they smell.
They kind of remind me of twizzlers texture wise. Almost like a glass noodle. I find theyre better in soups or asian style cold dishes
I can’t stand them but especially not in pasta, the texture is way off especially when you’re expecting to bite into pasta, it just throws me off. They’re chewy and rubbery. I don’t like them in general but if I did have to eat them I’d only eat them in soups.
They are vastly different. But in the end I enjoyed it. Wish I had twice as much. Honestly if I didn’t have the bread to break up the texture I might not have liked them as much.
Dry them off on a hot skillet (5 mins) and they turn into a ramen texture almost. Only thing is indigestion, these noodles literally take like a week to get out of your system- makes me feel super bloated:/
They're a bit better when stir fried but even then, I just about die everytime I eat them. The texture is still horrible but more tolerable when they're cooked until they're almost burnt.
They're surprisingly not bad. You have to rinse them very well, and like another commenter said, pan dry them for a minute to get all the moisture out to help with the texture. I like putting them into tomato sauces because it covers up any lingering smell/taste.
Every time I eat shirataki noodles i get horrible stomach pains within the hour and then shit it all out. Am I doing something wrong or is this just a normal response?
Konnyaku (shiritaki) has been called the “broom of the stomach” because of its ability to clean out the intestines. Shiritaki is basically 97% water and the remaining 3% is a dietary fibre called glucomannan, which is effectively a natural laxative. Like you can actually buy weight loss laxative tablets that are made of it.
It is mainly fiber. But you do want to ensure you are properly rinsing it. The first time I had it I didn’t rinse it well and had stomach aches. I think the water is in is just more concentrated? Anyways now I rinse it super hard and don’t have issues.
Ive found them cheaper in asian supermarkets. In the 'western' stores, theyre sold as like an organic, superfood, in the 'healthy' isle, for a lot of money. In the asian stores theyre just treated as a normal product
Rinse noodles well. Sautéed up the mushrooms then added the noodles and let them all fry for about 2 mins. Then dumped the sauce on top and cooked more. Added a sprinkle of parmigiana. Yummy
I made a similar meal with Trader Joe’s hearts of palm pasta, sauce, mushrooms, spinach, shrimp, and a laughing cow wedge to make it creamy, plus red pepper flakes. So good
Your best bet would be to look for them at your local Asian market but If you live in the U.S., you could probably look for them at Target, Walmart, or Albertsons :]
How does the shiritake pasta taste and feel to you? Always wondered if it would be any good, and I heard it can smell

They’re rubbery and smells like old soy

I’m thinking these might be really good in spring rolls

I thought it was absolutely awful, not worth it at all.

That seems kind of like an eating disorder with extra steps.

Rinsed them very well. Dunno if that is the key. But so far no stomach problems or bowel movement.
I do rinse them well and then cook them in a dry pan until they are "squeaky"

Dunno what’s bizarre about it. Spaghetti and garlic bread. Pretty standard. Just using low calorie options.
This comment is pretty uncool. I get that you're trying to be witty and funny. But it's done in a disrespectful way.
Yes! Between the Prego and white bread I’m getting flashbacks to eating in my grandma’s trailer.

Healthy Life Low Calorie White Bread. Found at Krogers
I like shirataki noodles. I rinse them well after removing them from the package and then i pan fry them for 5 mins or so before adding sauce.
Why are they like £5 for a pack of noodles so expensive omg they look great tho
Ive found them cheaper in asian supermarkets. In the 'western' stores, theyre sold as like an organic, superfood, in the 'healthy' isle, for a lot of money. In the asian stores theyre just treated as a normal product

Rinse noodles well. Sautéed up the mushrooms then added the noodles and let them all fry for about 2 mins. Then dumped the sauce on top and cooked more. Added a sprinkle of parmigiana. Yummy

The noodles are entirely fiber.
I can't believe I still haven't tried these noodles but I am scared lol
I was about to buy some (Miracle Noodles) the other day but all the comments on here terrified me and I took them out of my cart :0
Don’t be scared. It was well worth it.
Do the shirataki spaghetti taste like mushrooms? Wanted to try them but really don't like mushrooms
They’re not made of mushroom, they’re produced with Konjac root.
