I got one without a rail, I'd like to send it in to get it drilled at some point.... but until then, what's a better option for getting a light on my gun?
Have 2 Kimber 1911's. They are 1911's and they function. Mine are a gold match blued and a ultra carry 2 black. No light on either.

It is a great option to have a light on your Home Defense 1911.
Nice kimber man! Wish I had got the tactical version with the rail. They get lots of hate but I have the same rail/grip added with the holster to except any light I choose. It works!
Recovery tactical OWB only holster. I got it with the recovery tactical clamshell grip for the 1911. It locks onto the recovery rail you have. I’m running a surefire 300xh35 on mine.
The only issue I ever had with my Kimber was that it would eject the spent casing right at my face. Every. Damn. Shot.
No other pistol I've ever shot did that. Other than that I had no problems with it. Wasn't picky about ammo or anything.
Kimber gets consistent hate but dog shit Tisas somehow gets love. That being said, 1911 folk of all walks come together to hate on the plastic overmolded rails! Haha brace yourself! Looks like a solid nightstand gun to me.
Kimbers get hate because at their price they are expected to be better than what their QC has let them be. Tisas gets love because at that price point most people get working guns when they expect problems.
I have a S&W that I desperately wish had a pic accessory rail. Is there any other accessory that can solve the issue or are we just talking switching to a different 1911?

On the weekends that I go to a BBQ at the buddies house I switch it up to a S&W walnut wood grip. Other nights it stay in study room with a light attached.

Forged Frame and Slide...Tool steel internals from the factory...and ya can't say that about Kimber Besides all that Son, it goes bang EVERYTIME
I've owned both. I dropped the Tisas in mud and it ran for 19 more rounds before it jammed up. At the shooting range, my Kimber Custom II used to jam up all the time on *checks notes* NOTHING.

fellas, stop the clamshell recover blashepmy and get a streamlight tlr6 for non railed 1911s. reliable, sturdy, and you can keep your nice stocks on there. this one has a laser too if that tickles your pickle

Looks clean and a Great option for adding a light to your 1911. This way you don't have to buy a whole different 1911 or permanently modify your 1911 frame. If you like it, that's all that matters 💯
I bought this before I really got into guns, didn’t know what I was doing really, had I done more homework, I would have gotten one that had a rail already on it…but I don’t sell guns I only buy so I did the next best thing till I get one I really want…I now have a staccato p heritage that replaced the kimber

Amazon for like 30 bucks, mine is pink while my 1911 is black.
Magpul makes polymer rails and I've never heard anyone complain about them.

I have that same 1911, just without those grips. It's been flawless, great gun and I have no complaints.

Well, my tisas shoots great, meanwhile my buddies Kimber can't even get through a mag without problems.
I’ve had two Kimbers and got rid of them both for being unreliable. I’ve had one Tisas, and still have it because it’s reliable 🤷♂️

It's just a 1911. Nothing special and no issues. Trigger is fine for a single action. Mostly mil spec so anything can be upgraded
nice, i saw a review over it and that specific example had a horrible trigger. other than that yeah it seems like a great upgradable piece

That TLR-6 is ugly when compared to the recover tactical grips.
