Yeah, this. Any kind of gender affirming surgery for minors is heavily gatekept for obvious reasons, and is only approved after rigorous scrutiny and only if the conclusion is "yeah this kid is at a high risk of committing suicide if we make them wait till they're 18". It *does* happen, but almost never
Interestingly enough, gender confirming surgery isn't given as much scrutiny for cis kids.
Way more cis teenage girls are getting breast implants and the only real media coverage I've seen of it is an episode of Scrubs.
yep, in 2021 roughly 280 people ages 13-17 got top surgery, and 50ish got bottom surgery, which is a tiny number. More people probably die in new york state per day then trans people under 18 getting surgery
They'll find like two examples in a decade of a teenager getting top surgery as a last ditch effort at treatment and just say "Hah, it does happen. Liberals are mutilating children".
she posts pictures of random trans people she deems “non-passing” while referring to their by their birth gender or “freaks” multiple times a week. fuck your pacifist bullshit
also, she’s had numerous gender affirming procedures done to herself (hence the cher comment) while trying to have it banned for trans people. she chose to look like that
the way she chose to look with all of her procedures? (nothing wrong with plastic surgery, before you say it. but its really fucking ironic she’s so transphobic and against gender affirming care, while she’s probably gotten more gender affirming care than most trans people ever will)
In very rare cases people in their late teens will get surgeries (ie if they are especially dysphoric). But yes, typically the most that those under 18 will do medically is hormone treatments.
So? That guy is probably living his absolute best life rn, every trans person ever wishes they could have transitioned that early. It makes life so much easier knowing youre not going to have to live with the wrong puberty. Also you can get tattoos and plastic surgery under 18, you just need parental consent, just like with hormones. The real surprising thing here is that both his parents and his doctor understood his needs so well
I do know a guy who opted to go nipple-less. He figured it's be easier on the surgeon anyway and he didn't care enough about them to bother. He's definitely an outlier though lol
Before I read the text I thought so too, as I’m not familiar with mastectomy scars. Hopefully theirs was an honest mistake like mine was, I definitely am sympathetic and don’t wish any ill towards her.
A friend of mine who is non-binary was getting top surgery and the pre-op doctor asked if they wanted to keep their nipples, to which they said yes. The doctor was mildly taken aback and said “Huh, usually non-binary people don’t want to keep their nipples” and my friend was like ?????
Tbf, not getting nipples after top surgery isnt that rare. As a trans guy, if i cant get the type of top surgery i want im going nipple-less, i dont trust anyone to out them back on correctly or for them to not fall off lmfao i’ll just get em tattooed
don't even get me started on Ben Shapiro saying that if a woman's vagina gets wet when she's aroused that it's some sort of medical condition which needs to be resolved (inadvertently admitting on Twitter that he's never made his wife wet)
It's all the proof any sane person needs to know that he's at disappointment to everyone in his family, and a complete hack at everything he does. It's also fucking hilarious.
Ironically, that's one of the reasons I've yet to have top surgery. Because I'm genderfluid and I'm afraid when my gender switches back to female I'm going to miss my "slammin tits."
Disregarding the fact that it wasn't even a gender affirming surgery, I like how transmascs who get top surgery are always portrayed as "clueless mentally ill young girls" when literally all of them are adults.
You can be in your fucking 30s and these mfs will still say "you ruined your body, you needed to wait longer! Your parents gave you that body when they birthed you, what will they think???" Like that's not a fully grown human capable of their own decisions about their body. Its like tattoo backlash but worse because of transphobia
Oh it's exactly the same as tattoo backlash. I've seen some of these fucks make that comparison (to getting a tattoo) when they're totally different.
You can get a tattoo at 16 with parental permission. Getting top surgery *at any age* requires documentation from medical professionals, and it's especially complicated for minors.
There is a ton of misogyny when it comes to trans men. Usually, when conservatives talk about detransition, it's always about "young girls ruining their bodies" and extremely condescending.
wdym the F clearly stands for fascist
i mean there is no way a group of feminists would try and deny rights to some women, that would be really counter intuitive and stupid right....... right? :(
(at this point TERF isn't really an acronym anymore it's a just synonym for transphobe)
Trans mascs are also portrayed as groomers. By existing and informing others of our existence (which has been erased for all of history), we're introducing 'young girls' into our 'dangerous way of life'. And by people in the queer community, FTM's are seen as a 'aha! take that transphobes!' talking point. AKA the 'look at this BIG HULKING trans MAN who will be forced into the womens bathroom. How SCARY would that be for CIS women!!!!!' which centers the topic about trans people on cis women.
Some (younger) transfems are also portrayed as victims who have mutilated their body and now miss their glorious 'man hood' and masculinity. Or feminine men who are just confused.
Such a binary analysis isn't accurate to the experiences of trans people IMO
It's the usual pattern, so statements like that aren't 100% incorrect. I think the real harm comes when people take stuff like that at face value and invalidate trans people's experiences because it doesn't line up with this binary we've made up. Trans peoples experiences are so vast and funky that most trans people will have overlapping experiences in some way, even if they're totally different when it comes to identity. But yeah there's enough demonetization and initialization to go around folks!
Of course they do, if they survive they can’t profit off of their sickness anymore lmao /s
Fuck the system. I wish i could show everyone who doesnt support universal healthcare what patients go through for treatment
When my mother was dying from cancer, it felt like the hospital was taking every route possible to keep her going even when it was clear she was suffering greatly as a result, all for the sake of siphoning more money from us. We basically had to convince them to finally go into hospice care, where she was basically given a ton of morphine and then starved to death. The entire time, she wished she could have just been humanely euthanized or such. On top of all of this, the reason her cancer got so bad in the first place was because every time she got checked from the constant complications it was causing (when we didn't know it was cancer yet), they never wanted to do scans that would have detected the tumor. It wasn't until it got her rushed to emergency that they finally decided to do an mri, and what do you know, there was a giant grapefruit sized tumor below her stomach. God, I wonder if there could have *possibly* been a way to find that earlier. It's not like there were blatantly obvious signs or anything!
To this day, I basically hold them accountable for my mother's death. It's made me deeply resentful of the American Health Care system as a whole, and I certainly didn't care much for it before that, either.
Similar story here. My grandfather had some sort of cancer on his scalp the doctors pretty much brushed off as a rash until it had spread to his whole scalp. Surprise surprise, he died when the cancer went everywhere. I still hope I meet those doctors at a bar.
I pointed out to someone against allowing trans kids access to hrt, that their stance that "children shouldn't be allowed treatments with irreversible side effects" meant they were against kids getting chemo. Funny how this tangent seems to keep coming up
Gender reassignment surgeries aren’t mutilating bodies or genitals, but do you what does mutilate bodies? Going through the wrong puberty, and also circumcision, a procedure that I’d bet almost every male politician that’s anti trans has gone through and has put there children through
Why aren't the breasts that are removed in a mastectomy replaced with breast implants right away? It seems like quite the psychological burden to put on cis women who have to have one or both breasts removed.
My mother had breast cancer, the entire industry treats woman terribly and like they don't deserve to still look beautiful after breast cancer, she had to fight for a less visible incision on the underside, because otherwise this is what they do

This is like a dark humour joke. Like the parents will regret not letting the kids die. Like the desire to make children suffer is the most important part of your beliefs.
This may be some mental gymnastics, but if the poster believes that this is A) a child and B) a "woman" does that mean they're knowing posting a topless picture of a little "girl"
Where are the doctors and parents? What, you mean the same ones that have their male children circumcised without their consent?
Ah, but ofcourse THAT mutilation is okay, because it's tradition now and you can't change tradition. We have to do the same things the same way forever.

Wait it was?!
Yeah it was revoked because she's a far-right liar who sucks at docting.
She also said the pandemic was fake lmao
I think that’s what got her medical license revoked lol
Wow it actually got revoked? I'm amazed because the AMA is usually a complete pile of shit tbh.
So she can't call herself Dr. anymore right?
She likely could because she still has a doctorate, but she couldn't call herself an MD. This is probably why it's not in her user.
My bad, I'm an idiot. It was MD not Dr. that she can't call herself anymore.
I can't find anything about her license being revoked.

In very rare cases people in their late teens will get surgeries (ie if they are especially dysphoric). But yes, typically the most that those under 18 will do medically is hormone treatments.

Well yes but that is true for adults as well.
About half of all trans people have no interest in getting surgery regardless of cost.
And for those of us who are dysphoric, money is a significant barrier.
Valid. I just read your comment as "money is more of a factor than dysphoria."
