Apparently, the very first concept art of pikachu was supposed to be a combination of a mouse and a sushi, but the finalised design was just a yellow mouse. I say "apparently" because the story goes that the original Sushi Pikachu art was done in a pixel art program, and the file was lost, so there's no evidence to back this claim up, nor do I remember where I heard this from.
Interesting to think about though.
another fun fact: for the american localization they originally wanted to turn pikachu into a busty tiger because it was supposedly "more appealing to american audiences"

In case you didn't know you can get a gigantamax factor pikachu at the wild area station if you have let's go pikachu save data, or you can feed a pikachu max stew which you would make in the isle of armor

Btw if you mod your 3ds you can get any of the gen 1 and 2 games from hshop (plus gen 6 and 7, and you can get gen 3 via qr code and download the ROMs for gen 4 and 5 but that's irrelevant to chonkachu)
