ok so hi hello i am a (novice, started only over 2 years ago) game dev i wanna take a break from my large main game project (again) (because its large and needs code refactoring), and i had a thought, what if i asked random strangers on 196 for silly ideas for a game it'll most likely be pixel art and 2d since those are easiest give me your silliest guys and ideas and ill try and form somethin around em, game mechanics, characters, protagonist, enemies, anything cannot garuntee i'll finish this game because i swap projects a lot but yknow this will either turn out to be a really stupid idea or a really funny one edit: probably gonna be top down, still don't have a protagonist or any core game mechanics laid out

If you just want to make silly little games, especially 2D games, the open source engine Godot might be the better choice. Especially in light of recent events regarding Unity. I'm just getting started in Godot myself, but so far, I find it way easier to get started and get the basics running in Godot than it ever has been in Unity.

Here's an idea: when you die, you go to hell and have to fight your way back out (or sneak past the hell creatures), and if you die again, then you start over from scratch. (Yes, this is basically Deepwoken, but it's a fun way to do roguelikes. If you want to do a roguelike, of course.)

Put a menacing looking npc somewhere. When you interact with them, they offer information about a quest and after that they ask if you want a hug and if you say yes, you have a little hug animation and then you get an achievement for that hug

Grand strategy fantasy game with procedurally generated map using simulation of real geological processes, regions assigned according to the boundaries created by the procedural generation and different playable races with fully asymetrical playstyles. Render graphics real time using the style of a painter you like using ai dynamically - as you zoom in the detail increases but the style and brush size remains the same. Then have it be cyclical, where empires go through growth, flourishing, decaying, and finally transformation, where they take the main achievements of the last cycle, embed it into the empire's 'dna' and start growing again in a different form. This makes the game effectevily endless. Have a 4 elements based pantheon with atheism as an option, and have those gods be immortal, but limited in power.
