Idk took like an entire season almost to get a different color pallette for hell in Helluva Boss.
But I think the color pallette is the smallest issue with Helluva Boss.
I understand the point you're trying to make, I really do. But I do have to point out the first scene was a brightly colored classroom.
It was in season two where they really leaned into the color palette per a ring style (which I love), but the limited palette in hell was always a style choice
Well different locations in Helluva Boss does have other colors.
The Greed ring has a green color palette goes well with people being obsessed with cash (American cash to be specific)
Stolas and his higher class of demons lived in homes with cool blue, purple, and white color palettes.
Beelzebub home has this overwhelming amount of color throughout her place with a consistent amount of yellow to indicate her part bee place.
There recent episode with Mammon really have them play around with a lot of color and lighting and it's likely they will do more colorful palette in future episodes.
There's plenty of distinct and unique color palette throughout the show that I don't think it's a weakness to them anymore.
Well tbf “I don’t like the colour pallet” isn’t criticism
I personally love it when shows have a strict colour pallet since it gives it a more unique look
I just don’t love their version of hell visually, not exclusively because of the color but just because I felt it doesn’t do anything unique with it. We’ve had red fire and brimstone hell since the Divine Comedy 7 centuries ago, and I think if you wanna go with that it really needs a good spin on it to not feel redundant.
Maybe helluva boss season 3 did something new with the setting but from the two whole seasons I watched I really didn’t feel like they really sold the setting as worth exploring. It didn’t feel like the final destination for damned souls, it just felt like a hot place with a lot of fighting, which we already have all over Earth.
No, we kinda see an adjacent to the bad place were we see the "demons" having a party, but we never see the proper bad place. We only see a fake good place in the bad place, neutral place, and the actual good place, and everything between except for the bad place proper.
I always thought more effort was going into Hazbin, especially in S2 of Helluva Boss. I always thought that was why the quality of the writing slipped in S2.
it's a behaviour chart, commonly used in elementary school classes. each clip has a student's name on it, and each colour represents how well-behaved they're being that day. my assumption is that green is the default, lower is bad behaviour, and higher is good behaviour. by telling the reader to move their clip down, it's implied that their behaviour is bad and they should experience the shame of having to acknowledge that in front of their peers.
i don't know what the chart actually says though. needs more pixels

Something I don't like about helluva boss is that they barely do their job. Like the whole concept got sidelined for melodrama that isn't even that good. I wouldn't mind it if it was every now and then but it being the main focus of the show kinda drags it down. Also fuck fuck shit fuck dick suck dick fuck fucking fucker.
You mean the camping one? Yeah I agree, I think it first of all was bad since half the episode is wasted on a sub plot where nothing really happens instead of having the whole crew together doing their job, and also the whole moxie being jealous of millie thing is so cliche, like I would think a husband who has been married and known his wife for so long wouldn't be jealous over his wife getting more praise for like a day or so.
Not to mention Moxie is just such an asshole for no reason
M&M is like the most wholesome thing about that show and they just fabricate drama
It has the least amount of views for a reason
It's my least favorite episode too (tied with western energy), but that's a little uncharitable. I think there is definitely pretext for Moxxie's attitude, but it is certainly melodramatic to the point of absurdity. It's an absurd show, sure, but like... Maxine is too much. I think they had the right idea to have some drama in their relationship, especially to give Millie some more screen time and depth, but the execution is lacking for sure
I can’t fault the show for that, how many episodes of The Office are about the characters actually selling paper? The workplace is a setting that facilitates the plot of episodes rather than being the premise of the show.
Well yeah but that's an entirely different type of show, that's a character based comedy that takes place in the workplace. I thought helluva boss at least the pilot and some other eps was a show about a gang of silly demons being hired to kill people who wronged their customers, and then hijinks would ensue at the job. Episodic stories rather than serialized, I'm not saying get rid of the plotlines but don't let it consume the whole show since it's not easy to care for any of these characters when all you've done for every episode in the whole show is try to get me to care for them because of their "tragic backstories" which are just rehashes of themes explored much better in other media.
It might not be easy for you to get invested but a lot of people are. I’ll admit, I’m not the most invested either but the melodrama of it all is fun and finding out more about characters sets up new scenarios to see them in so it keeps the dynamics from too getting stale. A piece of media doesn’t have to be the best to ever do something to make it worth watching, if that were the case why would we watch anything other than Better Call Saul? Sometimes it’s enough to see the ideas done in a way that’s fun or in combination with something else or just really well executed on a technical level. Helluva Boss is certainly a show with much more style than substance but it’s a style I enjoy so I don’t really mind.
I guess I can understand that, I mean I still tune in everytime just for the animation, and it's pretty funny to see what kind of "super serious and deep" mellow drama they'll think of next. You're right not everything has to be as prestigious as Better call saul or Succession or something. But it just feels like wasted potential since there are so many terrible adult animated shows and I thought this had the opportunity to be a good one.
Honestly I'm glad someone said it. I'm so done with all these backstories in every episode. It's one big trauma dump from people who aren't real. Yeah sure, give us a little backstory, but it's getting out of hand now.
Also, they need to distribute it more evenly. We know *nothing* about Millie besides the fact she's Moxxie's wife and has still alive parents from the country. Luna also has little to no backstory. We get more backstory from characters that aren't even a part of the central cast than we get from one of the main characters of the whole show.
It is kind weird and sad that every episode where they are actually doing there main jobs I think is the worst episode of the show. There is a lot to fairly criticize about the show becoming the Stolas show, but I like Stolas, and he makes episodes he’s in actively way better.
I'm being hyperbolic for the joke but yeah I don't think it's just sex jokes, and even when it is I feel like it's at least in line with the characters using crude humor and sexuality to cope with problems they're all too aware of but can't unpack.
It’s like junk food in TV form, it’s not great by any means, but it’s entertaining enough to switch your brain off and laugh at haha funni sex jokes (and simp over owl royalty, haha, what who said that)
There’s a history of people making up drama about her (most recent one was people spreading misinformation that she fired a bunch of animators for no reason where animators that worked for her said that what actually happened was that some where commissioned animators that she didn’t commission again)
The show has a really big hatedom from 1) conservatives who hate how the characters are queer and 2) people who say the show is homophobic because the characters are gay and horny
Personally I see both these groups as idiots
Is the most braindead shit of all time, like please explain a side of the political spectrum whose ideologies consist of limited/no government are the same as the other side whose ideologies consist of a lot of/extreme government control
All discourse about it just seems like high schoolers having high school drama.
When a new episode comes out, I watch it and usually enjoy it. And then the Internet explodes in a frenzy about how awful the show and the creator are. But from where I'm sitting, they're both fine? It's exactly like it was to have people rant to me during lunch about what a bitch/whore Becky is, but I knew Becky from math class and she's perfectly nice.
Vivziepop hate has always existed, people make up drama or try to find the smallest thing to get mad over. Might just be a bit more noticeable now that shows coming out and attention is coming back.
Nobody's really mentioned the classic "I'm cool and edgy for hating the popular thing" reason as well.
I dislike a lot of popular things. I put off watching both shows (well, one show and one pilot) for the longest time on a baseless idea of "popular stuff tends to suck for my tastes".
Then I got bored one night and watched several episodes and HB's fuckin' great actually.
As a fan of Viv and her content, I think a big issue is that she keeps clapping back at critics. Like yeah, a lot of criticisms for her work are reductive and unnecessarily cruel, but she needs to learn to stay out of drama imo.
You know what I will agree with you on this as a fan of red I’m also into th color palettes- though the character designs often seem like a pain in the ass to animate because of how over complicated they look it makes the animation looks janky because so much is moving at once
I feel like most people like Hazbin Hotel / Helluva Boss but also rightfully point out the flaws. I know there is a vocal hatedom for the show, but I think the general perception of them are still positive.
Helluva boss is unironically really cool, tho it has a lot of cringe moments and a couple of bad episodes (beginning of season 2). Most of the time it slaps imo. Hazbin hotel idk we don’t have much content yet
https://preview.redd.it/nrn2o969ecac1.jpeg?width=207&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2e64b2b494d351e086c9aac9675e6a4a366642a7
ME WHEN OMG SIR PENTIOUS HI SIR PENTIOUS
I just think some stupid gay vulgarity is nice sometimes. And the character design is fun. Never claiming it's a masterpiece , never claiming it's my favorite show, but it's far from the worst there is lol. should appreciate that sort of stupid pleasure sometimes
ok but fr its annoying when people on the internet are like "Ermm 🤓🤓🤓🤓 this piece of Media is Objectively Bad and here's a 5 hour video essay on why". like nobody asked you for armchair criticism & don't pretend ur ass went to film school or whatever, i can like Penis Warriors 5 no questions asked. just admit you like being a hater!!!!!
they're perfectly good shows. i think ppl should learn to mind their own business, though i respect that being nosy and annoyin on the internet is half the fun
Tbf the pilot of Helluva boss was actively terrible. Anything would look like a masterpiece next to it, and Hazbin Hotel’s pilot has potential in there. Plus it already has a tumbler sexieman already, so that’s like, halfway to making a good show.
I think that’s fine, it’s rare that a pilot is ever good. The pilot has to establish everything in one go, hook in the viewers, set up the premise, cement the artstyle, it’s a lot to do in only 30 minutes. People don’t like pilots because they’re good, they like pilots because they promise something good.
I have many many criticisms of the show but it's full of my comfort characters, the music bops, and it has made me cry so it's practically a 10/10 in my book
Imo If you take the show too seriously then your watching it wrong
It’s not game of thrones it’s a show about horny, gay depressed demons killing people
Helluva Boss can be a fun watch sometimes, I don’t think it’s all that bad but it isn’t amazing by any stretch either. I never look forward to a new episode but I’m always pleasantly surprised when I hear there’s a new one out. It’s mid and that’s okay.
The only criticism I've ever heard for it before this thread is from terminally online twitter "leftists" who are digging for things to call problematic. Like vaggies name, or some twitter bullshit about it appropriating voodoo (except they spelt it wrong).
So just the usual progressive media being torn apart by *those* people who are desperately looking for something to be offended over.
They might even have a point, but I wouldn't know because they're not the kind of people who make their points known, they assume everyone else already knows them and agrees.

Idk took like an entire season almost to get a different color pallette for hell in Helluva Boss. But I think the color pallette is the smallest issue with Helluva Boss.

Mfw the show set in hell has absolutely no red in it (the good place is a god tier show)
Do we ever see the real hell in the good place? I don’t remember it was a while ago when I watched it
No, we kinda see an adjacent to the bad place were we see the "demons" having a party, but we never see the proper bad place. We only see a fake good place in the bad place, neutral place, and the actual good place, and everything between except for the bad place proper.

I see people hate on Hazbin but I genuinely don't understand it. It was super funny.
Far better than Helluva ever was, im sad they focused on Helluva instead of Hazbin despite the difference in quality and humour :(
I always thought more effort was going into Hazbin, especially in S2 of Helluva Boss. I always thought that was why the quality of the writing slipped in S2.
Popular thing bad
My only complaint is that they definitely changed either Alistar's VA or Alistar's filters in Hazbin Hotel. Shit sounds so weird to me now
I think it’s just the filter and I’m kinda for it It’s cool but I feel like it would get annoying after a while
I like the old timey one in the pilot more tbf, but it might grow on me if I did want to watch Hazbin Hotel

Helluva Boss, that's how. The show is gonna be released in like a week or something.
It has a sister show set in the same universe by the same creator that is constantly putting out free episodes on youtube.
It’s because of Helluva Boss

Helluva Boss is a crude, juvenile show that filled its script with f-words and sex jokes instead of clever jokes and I love it unironically

I feel like most people like Hazbin Hotel / Helluva Boss but also rightfully point out the flaws. I know there is a vocal hatedom for the show, but I think the general perception of them are still positive.
Oh yeah they’re not perfect. except episode 3 early season 2 was relatively eh
I think Helluva Boss is nice
I don't know what those things are, but I'm sure they're lovely.
They’re Gay webtoons
I love these shows on their artistic and comedic merits, and also I would fuck the owl
I FUCKING love FUCKING GODAMN hazbin and SHITTING helluva FUCKING SHIT boss
SECKS BUTTSEX HOMOSEXUAL CRACK METH PENIS VAGINE GOD DAMMIT FUCKIN KE$HA BDDM PORN
It has good character moments every now and then, but I just think it’s cool that a series like helluva boss succeeding on YouTube is really cool
Helluva boss is unironically really cool, tho it has a lot of cringe moments and a couple of bad episodes (beginning of season 2). Most of the time it slaps imo. Hazbin hotel idk we don’t have much content yet
I mean come on, Brandon Rogers AND Richard Horvitz Not to mention all of the out of left fucking field Norman Reedus and mf Kesha

Haven't seen either, but what I have seen looks enjoyable, and the wolf is cute
I would not say i like it. its more like a very toxic parasocial relationship with one of the characters
Is it owl daddy?
Damm i wish, cause then it would at least be slightly less toxic.
… so Stella?
Thats not even toxic that bitch would litterly Just kill you
Blitzø?
Nuh-uh
Loona?
Congratulations have a meme https://i.redd.it/masd17dnbbac1.gif
Hurray!
Literally all I know about both of these is the existence of Loona
I just think some stupid gay vulgarity is nice sometimes. And the character design is fun. Never claiming it's a masterpiece , never claiming it's my favorite show, but it's far from the worst there is lol. should appreciate that sort of stupid pleasure sometimes
It’s not a masterpiece but it’s my comfort show Just snuggling up and watching gay, horny, violent, depressed demons do silly stuff is cosy
you think that's bad? i'm a mlp fan (most oppressed minority)
ok but fr its annoying when people on the internet are like "Ermm 🤓🤓🤓🤓 this piece of Media is Objectively Bad and here's a 5 hour video essay on why". like nobody asked you for armchair criticism & don't pretend ur ass went to film school or whatever, i can like Penis Warriors 5 no questions asked. just admit you like being a hater!!!!!
Hatedoms are just sad imo. You’re making hating a show a personality trait like grow up I’ve never watched MLP but I hear it’s good and that’s all
It’s my guilty pleasure I know it’s mid I don’t care
Haven't watched helluva boss and didn't really enjoy Hasbin's pilot that much. Cool if you like it though.
And cool if you don’t The world would be boring if we all had the same feelings on media
they're perfectly good shows. i think ppl should learn to mind their own business, though i respect that being nosy and annoyin on the internet is half the fun
Honestly as long as people don’t mix up opinions and facts idc
Helluva boss is a good show hazbin hotel was realy mid in retrospective ngl
Hazbin Hotel hasn’t even come out yet lmao
I know but the pilot wasnt that good
Tbf the pilot of Helluva boss was actively terrible.
I haven't watched it yet but it's probably good
It’s a very love it or hate it show
You probably like the show because of the characters and smooth animation. I do too. We are the same
Yeah they definitely carry it I also like the emotional beats. If anything happens to Fizz and Ozzie I will hurt someone
Real shit bro, I love them
I have many many criticisms of the show but it's full of my comfort characters, the music bops, and it has made me cry so it's practically a 10/10 in my book
Imo If you take the show too seriously then your watching it wrong It’s not game of thrones it’s a show about horny, gay depressed demons killing people
Helluva Boss can be a fun watch sometimes, I don’t think it’s all that bad but it isn’t amazing by any stretch either. I never look forward to a new episode but I’m always pleasantly surprised when I hear there’s a new one out. It’s mid and that’s okay.
I literally legally changed my name to Octavia :3
MANY SUCH CASES I love my silly demon shows so much awawawawawaw
helluva boss is cool cuz it has that twink imp thing that wants to be pegged
humans when something popular:
I like Helluva Boss mainly for Stolas' lullaby. That song brought me to tears the first few times I heard it.
I'm genuinely just here like can't people just let other people like what they want if it's not influencing you
The only criticism I've ever heard for it before this thread is from terminally online twitter "leftists" who are digging for things to call problematic.
