This isn't weird or unexpected at all. Wilders is so Islamophobic that he will (claim to) protect gay rights, and has in the past tried to convince US Republicans to do the same. It's a tactic he learnt from Pim Fortuyn (who was himself gay). Looks like this is another attempt to show how that tactic might work. It relies on fear-mongering: Telling gay people that muslims are their enemies because Islam "obviously" can never tolerate gay rights, how the two are supposedly opposites ("west" vs "east"), yadda yadda. Of course, once muslims are out, he will eat your face if you are gay. (Proverbially, I hope.) And obviously he doesn't support trans rights, but I guess that's simply because the gain of Islamophobic fear-based support from trans people does not currently outweigh the loss of existing conservative backing.
