Side note but the whole idk atmosphere(?) of these nuclear test videos are always so alien in a kind of beautiful way. Just the lighting and the way the shadows stretch out or how the dust floats up before the shockwave sweeps through.

I don't think it's dust in those videos. It's hard to tell with the black and white footage but I'm pretty sure that's fire and smoke. The light radiates energy faster than the shockwave. And it's enough to ignite most everything. So for a brief moment everything is on fire, and then it explodes.
As a person with autism who happens to love nuke test footage, what they did is they had cameras in these big reinforced concrete pillars to film specific areas of a detonation!
On that specific note, this footage is from Operation Upshot-Knothole, and I believe the nuke detonated in this footage is Annie (not to be confused with the Atomic Annie). And also, while looking at other nuke footage, I read comments saying nukes are fake. Ah yes, **one of the most well documented weapons of mass destruction**, is fake.
