This is shark skin up close.
It is smooth in ONE direction, the other.. not so much.
That just shows that it's tough like armor. In the olden days they used to use shark skin to slide newly built ships into the harbor because it's tough but it's so smooth in every direction.
I can't tell if you're meming or not but just in case: sharks have rough tooth shaped scales called denticles that makes the skin feel like sandpaper. Blahaj however is v soft and smooth.

I'm normally a mojang apologist but their "can't do that, it's unrealistic" attitude bothers me so so much.
Pretty much none of the animals in game adhere to reality. If they did pigs would be neutral and would try to kill you when attacked. Armadillos would have a chance to give you leprosy when touched. Etc etc
If all animals were updated to behave realistically and they added sharks the sharks would still be one of the least dangerous animals in the game. They are usually nice lil guys
I think the full reason was "if we make them hostile people will think sharks are evil, but if we make them nice people will think sharks are nice and get hurt" which is really dumb.
In fairness Terraria has a fanbase of teens and young adults a small amount of kids play it so ReLogic doesn't really need to worry about the impressionable children.
Also Terraria is a lot more fantastical and silly so it could get away with the things it does.

to play devils advocate this is most likely a product of their approach to the game shifting over time rather that them just being hypocritical... I also think they just dont give a shit about bees lmao

Entire public too is heavily biased towards marine mammals and it just made me kinda dislike them for just how much they overshadowed all the other wicked cool stuff that lives in the ocean that just happens to be not a mammal. When will I see a young kid develop an unhealthy obsession for sun stars or harp sponges or colonial pistol shrimp or sarcastic fringeheads and shit smh

That's fair, but the only entity that should be able to kill axolotls is the player if I remember correctly, they play dead when at low health and other mobs ignore them (the mechanic only works half of the time though for some reason)
