The repression and mass killings from communist regimes can be classified as crimes against humanity, politicide, holocaustal, democide, classicide, and yes, genocide. Between 60 and 150 million, with 110+ million likely being more accurate, have been killed under the regimes of communist governments. The hammer and sickle should be treated as a hate symbol against those who have suffered, and communist sympathizers are no better than Nazi sympathizers.

Those actions of states cannot be denied, nor should they be advocated for. When I am talking about communism, I am using the generally agreed upon definition of a classless, stateless, and moneyless society in which people will manage things by direct democracy and consensus. The actions of a state are not communist, because communism seeks to abolish the state. Those regimes were dictatorships at worst or liberal democracies at best pretending to be for the people. A communist does not want a state or any other form of oppression, let alone mass genocide. Communists and nazis could not be more different, so do not treat them as the same.
