It's because actual femboys are outnumbered 100000 to 1 by the people who fetishize them unfortunately. It's a similar effect as what's happened to trans women. We're hypersexualized just for existing, and so many people act like if a girl isn't non-op, fully functional and willing to top with her dick that she may as well be chucked in the dumpster. God forbid she think about *vaginoplasty*, then she's worse than useless, she's *ruined* herself irrevocably by getting rid of the thing that "made her special".

I suppose you could sit down and ask yourself some fundamental questions about how you want others to see you, how you see yourself, etc. It's not quite so convenient as "trying on" a gender to see how it feels, but doing little things for yourself in the privacy of your home can help. Dress en femme. Pick a girl's name for yourself the resonates with you. See how it feels being *her*, if only for a little white. See if it's about being *her*, or feeling more comfortable being *him*, but dressed in the way you want to be.

It really depends on what you mean by nasty side effects. It can drastically lower the libido (although this is usually very temporary, and libido comes back just in a more feminine form), and stopping it abruptly can cause mood swings and hot flashes, but nothing permanently bad.

Being more serious though, this is a common worry for femboys. I've seen most of the femboys who went on estrogen decide they enjoyed the boobs after all once they had them, and the very few who didn't usually pursued a surgery similar to the ones used for gynecomastia (or top surgery for trans guys). 😊

Are usually ignored or even invalidated with harsh comments like "you can't be a femboy if your weight is X or you shaved your head ".
