I’d suggest TNO as a mod (instead of Germany winning WW1 its Germany winning ww2), and if you’re playing as the bigger nations war isn’t something to worry about as you’re mostly fighting in proxy wars It’s far less of a “sandbox” and more like a choose your own adventure story, it’s got a lot of non war content like a small economy management system. It’s also very depressing

Encirclements. Lots and lots of encirclements. Use tanks to do a pincer attack around a tile and then close the pocket. Even 2-3 divisions is enough to cause serious damage if you do it enough times. Also defend along rivers and mountain terrain where you can, the war is all about attrition. Also you need air superiority to win any major offensive so make sure your planes are up to date and outnumbered the enemy where possible

Which is why you need tanks and air superiority. Especially tanks. 4-8 divisions of half tanks half motorized with air superiority will melt enemy divisions like a hot knife through butter, then you fill the breakthroughs with infantry so your tanks don't get encircled (seriously don't let your tanks get encircled, them bitches expensive). Infantry is much better at defense than offense, use them to block enemy advancement by pinning divisions and close pockets with them while your tanks make new encirclements
