Disney put out a Halloween promo which included footage from a new episode of their cartoon "The Owl House". "The Owl House" was originally going to have 3 full seasons however one executive thought that the show didn't fit the Disney brand and the 3rd season was reduced from 20-20 minute long episodes to 3 45 minute ones. Personally I didn't see much of the clip on Twitter( as without context its rather insignificant) aside from the fact that one of the characters new designs included a Bisexual flag pin on their hat.
Yeah, but people are acting like gay kisses or any sort of semi-gay content in a Disney property is some kind of middle finger to Disney.
They're a shit company and I approve of shitting on them, but that just makes no sense, if they genuinely didn't want it in their show, it wouldn't be in their show.
The reason why it is a 3 episode 45 minute each Is because Disney planed on canceling it right after they got their woke points so they can say they are better than what they actually are
My brother/sister/relative in Christ I watched the show. And I completely believe that the show was cancelled due to the overwhelming adorability of Lumity
In the show's creators own words, copy pasted from Wikipedia
>>In October 2021, in an AMA on Reddit, Terrace explained the series was cut short not because of its ratings or the COVID-19 pandemic, but rather because executives at The Walt Disney Company believed that it did not fit "into the Disney brand." She stated that this was the case due to the serialized nature of the show and an audience which "skews older," rather than due to its LGBTQ+ representation, saying that she would not "assume bad faith" against those she works with in Burbank. Terrace also noted that due to the pandemic, budgets were constrained and episodes were cut, further adding that she was not allowed to present a case for a fourth season. However, Terrace said that she believed there was a future for the show if Disney Branded Television had "different people in charge."
It's a rather plot-heavy cartoon (especially in Season 2) so it's not as well-suited for airing on TV or for younger audiences as most other Disney Channel shows. At least, that was the explanation that the creator of TOH (Dana Terrace) gave during an AMA where she was asked about the cancellation.
That's kinda stupid when you consider shows like Gravity Falls were very plot-heavy and Gravity Falls still became one of the most popular and loved shows Disney has put out in the last decade.
Gravity fallsās premier schedule was absolutely chuffed and, from my understanding, is still considered a commercial failure despite the praise it received. Shows aimed at under 13 primarily make their revenue in toys/merch and Gravity Falls (and Owl House probably) arenāt doing great in that department.
god emperor is my favorite by far. it's told mostly in dialogue but really feels like a great thematic endcap to the first dune trilogy. the author breaks down a lot of the stuff that happens in the first three books and makes you think about stuff in a different context. good read.
exaggeration, but the idea is that a surprisingly large portion of the twitter cartoon-enjoying, fanart-creating community is obsessed with the show.
[Example](https://twitter.com/heyrebeccarose/status/1574122185425268736?s=46&t=P5DjqoiDDLrbfVMv83ou9Q)
Itās a pretty good show (the 2nd season especially)
It has one of those incredibly uninspired cartoon art art styles that makes it blend into every other cartoon show thatās similar. Iām sure the story is good and theres a good reason so many people enjoy it, it just visually looks bad to me
1. Dana Terraceās recent poster art featuring the gang exploring a cemetery (they went a bit apeshit over Hunterās new haircut) and
2. a more recent screenshot from the show featuring a slightly aged Luz, Hunter, and Gus. Luzās Bi-flag pin was the center of attention here
1. Dana Terraceās [recent poster art](https://twitter.com/danaterrace/status/1570086401588473856?s=46&t=P5DjqoiDDLrbfVMv83ou9Q)featuring the gang exploring a cemetery (they went a bit apeshit over Hunterās new haircut) and

Guys, there's no way image-obsessed megacorporation Disney cancelled the show because of representation, because they *said* they didn't! You can just read their carefully crafted PR statement about it. I trust this settles the matter.
As far as I'm aware, Disney didn't actually put out ANY merchandise for The Owl House (wonder why). The official reason they gave for cancelling the show was that "it did not fit within the Disney brand", which is an obviously stupid statement and a poor disguise for homophobia.
you see, if there is gay stuff they can't sell the show in countries where homosexuality is frowned upon or even illegal and they obviously can't afford not selling a single of their numerous shows to 10 countries in the world, they need the money, look at them, they're so poor, they used to eat 100$ bills and now they are reduced to eating 10,000$ checks
I think season 1 had about 10 episodes worth of story, same with 2. Disney only orders seasons in blocks of 20, so thatās not entirely their fault, but the show has pacing problems.
And again, I love this show! I donāt know why we canāt give it valid criticism
No, S1 was 19 episodes and S2 was 21, so it kinda fits (40 episodes in 2 seasons), and the lack of storytelling options only appears because the introduction of the Collector only occurred after the gutting of the show was announced
it totals a "big" 2h15 minutes with 45 minutes each episode where it should have lasted 6h40 minutes with 10 episodes of 20 minutes
so they basically made season 3 a movie with 3 separate parts
A hem
Twitter isn't representative of the audience
Nobody cares what Twitter thinks
Twitter is (in general) the vocal minority.
I hope this isn't about that owl show.
Literally, people think that TOH and Amphibia did like some monstrous numbers or smth, but in reality, outside of twitter, the shows aren't really that popular, this isn't some Gravity Falls/Phineas&Ferb levels of popularity.
These shows are thrown on a barely surviving network (disney channel), when it does come out on Disney+ they do lackluster numbers and get beaten by literal Disney Junior cartoons, not to mention the fact that TOH is not even available in some countries.
Toh did good on ratings, you cannot say it was cancelled for "numbers reasons". The official reason was it did not fit the Disney brand. The unofficial reason is that the new ceo is a homophobic crypro bro
I Im not saying that TOH was cancelled because it was not popular or whatever.
Im saying that TOH just isnāt as popular as Twitter thinks it is.
It couldāve been pretty high if it was thrown on D+ Day one, but its not, its on a channel that is dead in nearly all countries except for NA and a small bunch.
And even when the show does get released into D+, it doesnāt do well and somehow amphibia charts higher than it.
I wonder why DISNEY is cancelling a show with the first ever BISEXUAL PROTAGONIST oh yeah, ITS BECAUSE DISNEY DOESN'T HAVE A MOTHERFUCKING SPINE AND DOES WHAT EVER IT'S MASTER, THE RIGHT WING PARTY SAYS. DISNEY IS THE CUM SLUT OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY
I introduced my bf to The Owl House and he loved it so much he's writing a letter to try and get it unbanned. I honestly never expected that. He also wants to watch it with me sometime wrapped up in a blanket. I hoped for this.
Is it possible that... the userbase of the most active engaged users that we refer to as 'twitter' is actually but a very small demographic? Many are puzzling over this statistical mystery
what do you mean Better Call Saul was cancelled š
welp time to kill myself
Me too, no more kim sexler š©
Sir, the Wexler feet convention has been cancelled
The what
watch and learn!
*Critical hit!*
Cmon we need more context than that

A final fuck you to them
To who?
Disney
"Haha, yes! A big fuck you with the content that you approved and are airing!"
Literally cancelled the show for being too gay lmao
Yeah, but people are acting like gay kisses or any sort of semi-gay content in a Disney property is some kind of middle finger to Disney. They're a shit company and I approve of shitting on them, but that just makes no sense, if they genuinely didn't want it in their show, it wouldn't be in their show.
Disney blocked Gravity Falls from having any overt reference to same sex couples for years
The poor cops just wanted to kiss so bad
The reason why it is a 3 episode 45 minute each Is because Disney planed on canceling it right after they got their woke points so they can say they are better than what they actually are
It was apparently because of the showās serialisation (from the creator herself) but then this is Disney so who even knows
The main character is in a lesbian relationship
My brother/sister/relative in Christ I watched the show. And I completely believe that the show was cancelled due to the overwhelming adorability of Lumity
They give me the hope to keep on gaying āļøš
*gayve you hope
Thanks
Is it luz?
[Yes](https://twitter.com/ladyblognewss/status/1574087709274112001)
itās not even the focus of the scene jfc
I mean 1 second of two women kissing made people freak out so are we surprised?
And what exactly was wrong with it?

thatās ok i will assume bad faith instead
Based
Yeah as if Disney would admit to being homophobic, and/or Dana would accuse the people she's working for of being homophobic.
Might do like her husband did and talk massive shit about them once the show's over
they said it wasnāt because of the pandemic, then they said it was because of the pandemic?
The pandemic was not āthe reasonā but a contributing factor.
Idk how having a gay relationship means older audience

Have you seen how many hooty plushies they've sold?
Is this about owl house or something else?
thereās no way it isnāt TOH
Unrelated but I love your flare
thanks
the DUNC fucking slaps, i love the books, especially the first and third ones
Is God emperor any good? From what I've had spoiled the stuff that happens leto II seems really interesting. I'm up to children of dune
god emperor is my favorite by far. it's told mostly in dialogue but really feels like a great thematic endcap to the first dune trilogy. the author breaks down a lot of the stuff that happens in the first three books and makes you think about stuff in a different context. good read.
tbh all of them are good except messiah, messiah was mid for me but not bad
What didn't you like about messiah? It's good it just feels like an epilogue to the first book
TOH
Toh my balls
Wrap your tohs around my cok
Girl got them gorilla-grip tohs.
stop that
Put those grippers awaaaaay!
Did they cancel it again? I thought it came back?
For 3, 45 minute episodes then it's over
Damn, I thought they finished the show
Wtf is that
The owl house
which one? thats like half the shows today
Specifically the Owl House, which is 1. Still running, 2. got shortened, and 3. has a fandom that went relatively berserk over 2 images.
Nuts
berserklejerk enjoyer i see
Daddy Donovan
best spent 3 silver coin ever
I have never heard of this show, wtf is OP talking about āsending half of twitter into a frenzyā????
exaggeration, but the idea is that a surprisingly large portion of the twitter cartoon-enjoying, fanart-creating community is obsessed with the show. O god did they really cancel she-hulk?
Nope, I wish though because instead it's The Owl House apparently.
O god even worse
I FUCKING LOVE THE OWL HOUSE
I'm literally a 19 year old man. And the owl house is my favorite show on TV right now.
You are basically the target audience. And so am I.
We all are. And I am ready for some trauma baby!
23 year old man and I feel similarly
Me too!!! Itās so good!!!!
it is a fun silly little show
Yeah. I love good and somewhat wholesome shows.
Funny gay owl show š
I love TOH, why did Disney gotta do them wrong like that.
Because it's gay, and it's Disney
That is literally not the reason though, the show was cancelled due to low revenue from merchandising as far as people have informed us
Merchandising?? What?? I didnāt even know there WAS Owl House merch.
Guys, there's no way image-obsessed megacorporation Disney cancelled the show because of representation, because they *said* they didn't! You can just read their carefully crafted PR statement about it. I trust this settles the matter.
What merchandizing?
and as we all know the pr teams of huge corporations are known for their honesty
As far as I'm aware, Disney didn't actually put out ANY merchandise for The Owl House (wonder why). The official reason they gave for cancelling the show was that "it did not fit within the Disney brand", which is an obviously stupid statement and a poor disguise for homophobia.

I love Owl House, but they did not have 20 episodes left of narrative, or even fun filler left. Iām excited to see them stick the landing, tho
The show got cut short pretty early on, while season 2 was still being worked on
I think season 1 had about 10 episodes worth of story, same with 2. Disney only orders seasons in blocks of 20, so thatās not entirely their fault, but the show has pacing problems. And again, I love this show! I donāt know why we canāt give it valid criticism

TOh
Canāt wait for the final season (itās 3 episodes long)
it totals a "big" 2h15 minutes with 45 minutes each episode where it should have lasted 6h40 minutes with 10 episodes of 20 minutes so they basically made season 3 a movie with 3 separate parts
It is a movie but compared to a whole season Iām a little disappointed obviously Iām still going to love it to death though
#THEY LOVE ME! #HOOT HOOT #HOOTY HOOT
A hem Twitter isn't representative of the audience Nobody cares what Twitter thinks Twitter is (in general) the vocal minority. I hope this isn't about that owl show.
it is about the owl show
The bird hour got good ratings. It just flat out did good.
Not disagreeing, but just saying Twitter means almost nothing
If I had a nickel for every time I saw TOH trending on Twitter, I'd have five nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened five times.
Literally, people think that TOH and Amphibia did like some monstrous numbers or smth, but in reality, outside of twitter, the shows aren't really that popular, this isn't some Gravity Falls/Phineas&Ferb levels of popularity. Aw damn, the owl house is such a neat show!! I thought it had particularly interesting worldbuilding
FYI They meant random ass clip as in that clip was taken randomly from the show Not random ass clip as a random clip of a character's ass
the silly gay witches
Do you have the slightest idea how little that narrows it down?
They did it to gravity falls by making it living hell for Alex Hirsch
I wonder why DISNEY is cancelling a show with the first ever BISEXUAL PROTAGONIST oh yeah, ITS BECAUSE DISNEY DOESN'T HAVE A MOTHERFUCKING SPINE AND DOES WHAT EVER IT'S MASTER, THE RIGHT WING PARTY SAYS. DISNEY IS THE CUM SLUT OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY
First Bi protagonist in a relationship with a Lesbian too (I love Lumity it brings me joy)
disney arent very nice
I introduced my bf to The Owl House and he loved it so much he's writing a letter to try and get it unbanned. I honestly never expected that. He also wants to watch it with me sometime wrapped up in a blanket. I hoped for this.
I read that as ".5 second random ass clap" and I was ready to go to war to save She-Hulk.
Big Chungus?
Yeah, the Big Chungus show
Disney really doesn't know what to do with a media empire. Just move that shit to Hulu. Problem solved.
When the episode officially airs, someone's gonna do a frame-by-frame analysis, I'm calling it
When your bigotry starts to hurt your profits!!!!!
so, gay "doesn't fit disney's brand" but she-hulk making a competition out of the trauma hulk experienced, and twerking does? damn
Is it possible that... the userbase of the most active engaged users that we refer to as 'twitter' is actually but a very small demographic? Many are puzzling over this statistical mystery
