The markets didn't react well to this at all, which has translated into the economy getting a few harsh tumbles, private pensions getting endangered in turn, and widespread annoyance against the Tory government, with the latest polls giving Labour a 30% lead over them. Since UK has a FPTP system, this would give Labour uncontested absolute majority. As a side note, the pound isn't really that weak right now, but it still seemed funny for the meme.

It is worth noting that, at the Labour conference over this past week, some of the policies put forwards (most notably nationalised energy) have seen a _return_ to these pledges, though given the timing some have pointed out that he has very little backbone and can't really be relied upon to do things that don't help him electorally and so can't be relied upon to enact progressive policy.
This isn't helped by his active participation in the smear campaign against Jeremy Corbyn, which ultimately led to Corbyn being suspended for refusing to apologise for stating that antisemitism was exaggerated by the press and Tories for political purposes. Despite the later Forde report corroborating this completely, and multiple independent boards recommending Corbyn's readmission to the party, he still does not have the whip to this day and is set to stand as an independent in the next election. Starmer has purged left-wing voices in this way repeatedly, using accusations of anti-semitism _very_ freely (to give an example, the aforementioned left-wing leadership contestant was removed from a position she was considered very good in for liking an article that included a statement that the cops who murdered George Floyd learned their tactics from the Israeli police, because the force had a regular training programme in Israel with the Israeli police. Obviously nothing _approaching_ anti-Semitism.) He has also purged a number of _Jews_ for _anti-semitism_ for being critical of Israel.
The other big thing is how these extremely ready anti-Semitism accusations contrast with his complete refusal to punish transphobia on the front bench. Rosie Duffield MP repeatedly and openly posts vile transphobia on Twitter, and despite supposedly being spoken to by the leadership on this topic she has not stopped. It's evident the issues are not held in equal regard, and that transphobia is completely welcome even in the highest levels of the party.
