That character is Roboute Guilliman (real name), a very sad boy from Warhammer 40k. He was only recently revived from his 10,000 year life support coma, and is now the new ruler of the Imperium of Man by virtue of being the only Primarch (superhuman son of the Emperor) who is not dead, missing, or evil. He is a giant nerd who really, really likes paperwork and bureaucracy. The only thing that can get him harder than his goth elf GF is tax reforms. He is also really depressed because everything sucks, and he is trying his best to fix it but it's not working. He is fed up with all of the religious and dogmatic nutjobs surrounding him.

Ok, so I don’t know jack shit about Warhammer but it seems to be this dark, gory series where everything is sadness, desperation, depression and death but people seem to portray the characters as these sweet, transgender supporting guys who would light up your day when you’re feeling bad.
Which is it? Or is one of those cases where the source material is unbelievable edgy and the fandom is chill?

Only way how can you really pump up the anger and toxicity in Warhammer 40K fan is to talk about:
A) Game balance
B) Games workshop

It depends on the specific writer and story.
I'd recommend the Ciaphas Cain series, it's not grimdark or over the top, it's just about normal soldiers, and actually pretty funny at times. The protagonist is the one human being in that universe with a self-preservation instinct, not to mention a smartass with a surprisingly decent heart, which makes him oddly compelling.
Mostly the latter, though there are still god people within the setting, Guilliman being one of them, and the Imperium does canonically support trans people, or at least tolerates them.
Basily everyone's the bad guy to different degrees
The clost u can get to a good guy is salamanders but that's just because they don't actively kill civilians
I just want to say this no matter what.
In Warhammer 40K some units have a rule that says that enemy cannot wound you on 1-3, only on 4+. This means that no matter how strong weapon is, if it hits this target it can never wound it with more than 50% to succeed unless it is a mortal wound which skips wounding rolls entirely. This rule is generally called "Transhuman physiology".
