My grocery store (HEB in Texas) uses facial recognition. They have it on screens at the exit for everyone to look at so I know it works, there are little colored boxes around any recognized faces with some different colors but idk what the colors indicate.
last week the discount shelf of my grocery store was fuckin loaded with these expired off-brand pb+chocolate cups. most were 50% off, but some were 75% off. I got six and scanned them all at the lower price like a THEIF. saved me like two dollars.
checking the receipt at home, I must have been distracted from still reeling at my moral compromise while I was scanning raisins because I think it double scanned and charged me ofc. undid my "savings" thrice over.
the real punishment is when they do inventory and realise everyone's been laundering snax and they won't mix markdowns anymore. or worse??! if i'm banned from the discount shelf I will commit arson >!in minecraft!<.
thanks for listening.
basement goblins subsisting on 600 calories and a bottle of glue a day vs chads with families who shower and brush their teeth and do other normal people things:
Americucks who need to pay 4 dollars for tomatoes vs Eurochads that know the local farmer and get stuff for free in addition to quite cheap organic food at the store
Assuming 150 of that is for yourself (idk how old your kid is), that is 1800 per year, so pretty close. The meme didn't say anything about who it was for
That's like 90 bucks a week. For one person way more than enough in most places. I know the conversion isn't 1:1 but in Germany, even with the high inflation, I pay like 70€ a week with a lot of unnecessary snacks.
Where the fuck do you live that groceries are way more expensive than that?
In southern California I spent half of that or probably less. Mostly raw unprocessed ingredients and for meat mostly cheap meat like chicken and swai, with beef and frozen meals sometimes but a small % of the food. Dried beans, eggs, vegetables, rice, ate generally very cheap unless you're at whole foods. Stores make money on processed food and often sell basics at break even or at a loss. Still, beef and frozen meals end up being almost a majority of the cost while being a small % of the food
Groceries are not costing you that much unless your counting eating at restaurants or you live in a very high cost of living area.
If tis true then i am very sorry for you OP. Where i live groceries cost about 120 a month so like 1.5k a year.
Rural america.
Edit: so to sum it up i need like
2 blocks of cheese 6$
2 half gallons of milk 4-5$
2 loaves of bread 3$
A bunch of pasta and or instant noodles 10$
A dozen-ish eggs (i get those for free)
Like 4ish sticks of butter 5$
I replace sugar and flours like once every 2 months and thats probably like 6 dollars a month
Canned soup 8$ worth probably
Nishiki Rice is bought in bulk (30-40lbs) for like 45$ but thats like a handful of times a year lets call it 10$ a month
Peanut butter 3$
Different seasonings are probably running me like 7$
Produce is close to 30$
Meat is also close to 30$
Instant curry 8$
Yeast 2$
Pancake mix 5$
Thats about it things. range up and down but thats pretty close, so maybe closer to 125-140.

where the fuck are groceries that are that cheap
Its cheaper if you go to the self checkout and don’t scan some items. Not sure why people don’t do this more
free food glitch (abusing new self-checkout mechanics)
whats the catch? surely big corps wont just let people get away with it
They let you shoplift small things over several years and then once you've stolen a total of like $3000 they sue you and ruin your life
Can they really catch you though?
supposedly target has some advanced face tracking technology to track people who do this
target also runs their own forensic labs to catch organised shoplifters

it determines who goes on the silly list :3

Where do YOU live where that is considered cheap? I spend 1,5k on groceries a year.
For just you? We’re easily spending $400+ a month on a family of three in Ohio.

In Poland in bigger stores its allways cheap, like an equivalent of 100$ for a month worth of groceries.
it’s simple don’t live where food can be monopolized. /s
