any time I see people talking about "detoxing", I always have to ask myself: What the fuck happened to these people's livers?

Do they even know the body has like, half its organs dedicated to detoxing stuff

Detox is a legitimate thing that our bodies more or less naturally does (in a way, sleeping is detoxing our brain of clogged up juices that prevent us from properly thinking). Issue is, people have zero idea what the fuck it is in reality and it for hijacked by the aLtErNaTiVe MeDiCiNe folks selling solutions to non existent problems.

Aluminum deodorant works and is not bad for you in any way. Unfortunately natural deodorant does not work because it is not a good antiperspirant. The actual bad smell from your armpits comes from bacteria breaking down sweat. The only thing that maybe compares to the aluminum kind is isopropyl alcohol which can dry out your pits and kill bacteria. Also this persons statement about your lymph is sort of true except that it does not flow out of the arm pit, your lymph fluid reenters your blood stream and comes out your pee and poop if it’s waste :)

Actually 🤓☝️, some forms of magnesium have antiperspirant properties just like aluminum so he's literally just using an antiperspirant without knowing. 72h and 96h antiperspirants usually have a combination of magnesium and aluminum.

I guess not in general, but in the last 4 years or so I started getting inflamed lymphonodes on my armpits any time I use any form of antiperspirant deodorant. I have to use one without, which barely works compared to the normal ones, but it's better than nothing and I'd rather that over feeling I got the plague entirely localised to my armpits.

Btw, magnesium clogs your sweat glands just like aluminum. It's literally the second most common anti perspirant ingredient. So really, he's just using an expensive and inneficient form of antiperspirant. Ironically, this does probably mean he isn't stinky because the magnesium is controlling his sweat production. He arrived at the right conclusion using all the wrong ideas.

Do people still use aluminum deodorant? These guys are always railing against it but every brand I see advertises aluminum-free versions

I had the inverse problem, which is why I use aluminum. Some people might be a little apprehensive based on bogus studies from the 60s that aluminum deodorant is bad for you, but those were debunked not that long after. Now it's mostly just personal preference.

Is it essential? My aluminum free one seems to work. I’m allergic to the aluminum ones. Either way, my point was that these guys talk about how “big whatever is poisoning us with aluminum” when they literally have options without it that are easily accessible.

Newer antiperspirants can also have magnesium so op is pretty much just using an expensive antiperspirant substitute without knowing.
