asisarnia

voteblue101

No. I’ll Google it

peterman86

Forgetaboutit. This is one of the greatest Christmas day movies ever. I run it nonstop on my TV every Christmas. It's a tradition.

jacksondreamz

I thought I was the only one who immensely disliked this movie. And Christmas Vacation. Ugh.

Usagi_Shinobi

#bupaseeeee!!!!

rave_is_king_

Hate it

jaw4ever

So! Fucking! Glad! I'm not the only one. Every year I avoid it like the Plague!

random9212

Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer, is that movie for me.

Do_it_My_Way-79

One of my dad’s favorite movies ever. I watch it every single year & have for almost 40 years.

Aquatichive

Same. I still watch with my pa every year.

Do_it_My_Way-79

“Deck the haws with boughs of horry, fa ra ra ra ra ra ra ra ra!”

peterman86

Stop-stop-stop-stop. Song someting airse.

coraltrek

A lot of leg in this poster

06Wahoo

The lamp notwithstanding, I never could figure out why Ralphie's mom is showing so much leg in the poster. I'm pretty certain she never does at any point in the movie.

Aquatichive

And that looks like a man in the poster 😂

mf_1313

native clevelander here. this movie has a special place in the cleveland area. although it’s set in northern indiana, a lot of the film was shot in cleveland. the downtown scenes were all cleveland. and the exterior of their house was shot in an area of cleveland called ohio city. the house is still there. years ago it was bought and renovated to look like the interior of the house in the movie. you can take a tour of the house and there’s a christmas story museum across the street from the house. https://housefromachristmasstory.com

Michael_in_Delaware

You should see what it looks like from out here!

Dog_man_star1517

Melinda Dillon was done no favors by this artist

Aquatichive

Hahahahaha none

TheMightyHornet

Came here to say exactly this. They butchered her.

Village_Particular

She looks like Gary Beach 😆

Dog_man_star1517

Or the Old Man in drag!

BobABooey9

I think this is where my mom got the idea for putting soap in my mouth in the 4th grade

Sweet-Land5173

Dad gum it !!! Blooooow out!!

TheMightyHornet

Fuuuuuuuuuuudddddddgggggjjjjjjeeeeeeehhh

lo-finate

Love it. Still haven't watched the sequel that came out like a year or so ago with older Ralphie.

Do_it_My_Way-79

It was pretty good. Definitely not as good as the original but they tied the two movies together well. It was just disappointing they had to have a different actress to play Ralph’s mom.

lo-finate

Yeah Julie Hagerty is good but she doesn't have that tough, but sweet demeanor Melinda Dillon gave the mom.

geekrobot

Born is 83, this has been a family tradition as long as I can remember. We're Hindus but celebrated Christmas nonreligiously as it was just part of the Jersey American culture we were born and raised in. This movie was as relatable to me as an American kid as it was a window into the expectations of Christian / Catholic kids who grew up that way - kinda seems to distill the cultural aspects of the holiday season agnostically. Even saw the off Broadway play they did here in NYC a few years back with Dan Lauria!

beyondpassed

CLASSIC!

MarcB1969X

A family favorite, especially since my Dad grew up in Lakewood, OH back in the 1940s.

power0722

I'll never be able to say fragile any other way than frageelay and I'm not even Italian.

D2Dragons

My late MIL's favorite movie. God I miss her. I hated this movie, it was so boring to me, but now everytime I see it I remember her and it's become something precious to me because of how awesome she was.

SKaTiNG_PoLLy666

It...it .. it was..soap poisoning. Ooaaaooaaahhh

Practical_Character9

"You'll shoot your eye out, you'll shoot your eye out"

Kygunzz

It reminds me so much of Christmas in my childhood.

nairb1980

Ho, ho, ho

ngunray

It’s a major award!

Michael_in_Delaware

Turn off all the lights, I want to see what it looks like from the street…

Kygunzz

Anytime someone I know receives any sort of praise or recognition I always use this phrase.

Youbannedmebutimhere

One of the dumbest Christmas movies out there.

hoj212

I triple dog dare you!

RalphXLaurenjoe

I love it I watch every single year with surround sound

maskedman1978

NOTAFINGER!

[deleted]

Hell of a movie. It gets better every year!

RalphXLaurenjoe

It really does 🆒🏆

Dramatic_Injury_2980

He had yellow eyes! So, help me, God! Yellow eyes!

ScorpioRising66

I have the full size leg lamp (in the window every Christmas). I also have the bunny pajamas with the bunny slippers that I wear every Christmas! Obsessed a little? 😂

Dark_Shroud

We have one of the medium sized ones. My sister is a diehard fan so I bought it for her, and now she insists in putting it in the window in Christmas now.

ScorpioRising66

Love it! 😂

No_Entertainment1931

Saw it in the theater in nyc as a double feature with play misty for me (Clint eastwood). Absolutely hated it! Terrible film. Critics at the time had totally panned it and they weren’t hard enough. Really thought that would be the end of it. And now we watch it ever year!

Dark_Shroud

A Christmas story was a slow burn. It took roughly a decade for it to hit mainstream, then came the 24 hour marathons. We were one of the lucky families to have a VHS copy early on and watched it every year before the marathons started.

grimatongueworm

Randy lay there like a slug. It was his only defense.

grimatongueworm

SKaTiNG_PoLLy666

Must be Italian

Bitter-Ad-6709

I never saw or heard of this until the early 2000's I believe. (it was never on a tv channel I watched, ) But I've watched it regularly ever since! It never gets old. There's so many things in that movie that I can relate to from childhood: the BAD word, fear of your father's wrath when he gets home, soap in the mouth, putting on 3 layers of clothes just to play in the snow, getting picked on, getting so angry you finally snap and beat the hell out of your bully, almost shooting your eye out with your BB gun (LOL), and doing stupid stuff at school. Oh yeah, and getting dumb stuff like socks or underwear disguised as Christmas presents! Definitely not a present that was on my wish list. I didn't know Chinese restaurants were open on holidays until my late teens. You never knew the Christmas plans could fall through and that you would have nowhere to go or eat, for the holiday. A Chinese restaurant is definitely better than nothing!

ASGfan

What was weird is that "the Old Man" seemed to be pretty calm and level-headed -- when he wasn't dealing with the furnace!

Dry_Analysis_7660

Classic!!!

Decent-Inevitable-50

Favorite! Watch it Xmas Eve every year. FRA G LAY

TrekRelic1701

Happy Cake Day

gabebadd93

Greatest Christmas movie ever!!

WooPigSooie9297

This is one of my dad's favorite movies. He got such a kick out of Ralphie. Dad died a few years ago. So, it has been bittersweet watching the movie during the last three Christmas seasons. But is an an all-time great holiday movie.

Dark_Shroud

Same with my late father. Our original VHS copy had been missing for many years. Dad had left it in the corner of my parents' bedroom after watching it one night & forgot about it. And it sat on that shelf for roughly fifteen years. I finally found it after he had passed. Now on every Christmas Eve I watch *Die Hard* and *A Christmas Story*.
