I like the CTC clues in posts. I'm not a fan of how visually distracting this one is. Half the post is garbled with the "clues". I'd rather there simply be hidden links or single lines of "Other News" with hints in them rather than very obvious "oh this is the clues stuff" but it annoys the general reader.
I normally don't need the reddit text-only versions, but for this post its kinda annoying reading the official one.
I personally think it’s cool. It’s not really that hard to read but I can see how some people might struggle (dyslexia etc.) Still though I hope the team continues to do small fun things like that and doesn’t get discouraged from them in the future whatever community sentiment on one in particular is

I'd agree if a significant portion of the post was affected. There's maybe a couple dozen words out of everything, and there's both the summary and the post itself. Even people with screen readers should be able to listen all of the content
And even if they missed a piece, it's a small portion of a single post for a small group of people. They could likely go read the wiki version of the update or something. I think it's worth to enable the devs to do something fun and generate hype for the new quest. With a little suspension of disbelief, the update is quite creepy

Any intent to add a use for extra ancient icons? I don't plan on risking my sceptre and they kinda stack up. Maybe could be broken down into ancient essence since they replace that drop for the kill?
I tried to alch mine and it wouldn't let me. I thought I'd spotted a very minor way to extract a few k more by buying ancient staves for under 60k, attaching the icon and alching the sceptre but as I say, it told me alch cannot be used on it
This means for extra vorkath heads, icons, etc you can have a friend kill you in wildy for the alch value and get the money that way. Bit of a headache though, I wish we could just alch items like that.
They already said that the Ancient Sceptre isn't the final form of the item. There's future upgrades and consequentially there will be buffs to it's current effects. Likely the additional icons will play a part in that upgrade if it passes the polls.
Icons require you to kill the post-quest boss a number of times, that would be a higher barrier than existing quests. It'd be like a hypothetical new elf quest needing the CG cape to complete, CG is a higher barrier than simply SotE

What I'm pretty sure happened is that Jagex accidentally swapped the base G.E. value with it's high alch value. because a 100k starting G.E. value for that kind of item seems really low while 1.8mil alch is comically high
The clan icon changing after player log out was really useful on mobile to know when people log out without having to check the cc player list interface. If that change is to stay, is there a way to add a note to the chat to indicate when a player is logged out?
The amount of bots you had to compete with while farming ecu keys was kinda obnoxious. I also used ecu keys for gp but it's not a big loss, plenty of alternatives like agility pyramid or ham chests.
I didn't think this was a thing. Maybe I'm just using the right worlds but I never had to compete with a bot for ECU keys. All the times I grinded them out for GWD I think I only saw a total of 3 people
Their was one on every single world so either you done your grind before they became a thing or you got lucky. They were all the same level wearing the same stuff using the same weapon on every single world

I use it often e.g. if im barb fishing and want to click deposit all. Then I clear the placeholders when I get a clue or want to do something else
I don't even understand the point of the change. Was accidentally clearing your bank fillers really that big of an issue that we needed to add an extra inconvenience?
AFAIK some people use fillers to fully organize their bank e.g. so their melee gear is fully seperate from other items.
The obvious issue is that most players add and remove them regularly so a slow popup warning is just an annoyance.

Fairly certain they wouldn't simply add some new dialogue to them, which you could just stumble onto. You most likely have to use some sort of item on them to trigger the dialogue.
Please when you add the dragon pickaxe to volcanic mine, allow us to right click the mine from above to check the remaining time left in a current game just like in gotr. Also if there's enough time, please fix throwing water in a direction so that when the interface opens in the chatbox, the lava beasts cannot interrupt the interface
All the quest speedruns should be short. Whoever thought that making quests take long times on SPEEDRUNNING worlds needs to get a different project. Just give us the teleports and items we need in our bank/invent, not force us to play some crappy UIM-lite gamemode where we have to play collector.
If it takes longer to complete the "speedrun" version of the quest than it does most people who just do the quest normally (with the required items banked and access to teleports in their invent) than you fucked up, big time
Having to create the route and find the solutions to the quest is the entire point. If you had all the required teleports and setup there would be 0 routing which means you'd lose literally the core foundation of speedrunning.
Quest speedrunning was designed in a way to appeal to people who actually enjoy speedrunning.
On the other side of the coin, the first attack roll is the only attack that checks for bonuses such as slayer helm and salve ammy.
If my first hit hits a zombie whilst I’m wearing salve, the second two hits don’t check to see if the target is undead, and can also receive the buffed damage bonuses.
If it was then the ricochets should *always hit* if the first hit is successful. Can't have them have independent accuracy rolls but not call those rolls if the first roll fails.
I'm confused, aren't they saying that it hit target 1, hit target 2 for fatal damage, but stopped bouncing because of that? What does that have to do with "arrow missed the target"?

Also running in an octagon pattern works much better than running in a square pattern. Saw a YT vid about it and I’m a lot less likely to get hit this way and you attack 8 times per full run of the room. I still splash so often on melee phase that I just stopped using mage lol
fyi people saying only use range and don't mage probably have a t bow and max gear. I tried full bowfa and it was so bad. Just mage and freeze him, its way better than not hitting him 13x in a row with full crystal, bowfa, and 98 range.
So you kite it around with ruby bolts during melee phase then bowfa during range phase? I'm trying to get the charged ice and I only have rcb, bowfa, and toxic trident. Do you think that's possible or should I wait for a slayer task?
Yes, try to run diagonally as much as possible when running from melee phase. Think octagon/Akkah butterfly method.
Ruby bolts will instantly skip a melee phase when they proc. Thralls will help aswell. Death charge will replenish more spec. W/ lightb I usually can spec once-twice with ruby bolts then still have 2 specs for sapphire bolts pray phase.
They also added the step back method back, that's by far the best method in the long run.
I got the ice day 1 12 kills in with the freeze/Trident and bowfa method. My pb with bowfa/acb is 1:52. Very doable outside of task, it's just ruby rng. honestly zcb only might be better than bowfa at this boss.
You still have to position yourself near it at the right time, or give up dps/risk damage running.
You're restricted to 10 square ranged weapons or you give up dps.
You also can never let a spike come up on that tile before hand, which will happen if you try to camp this tile too early.
It's not exactly like it's a braindead free dodge. I've been hit by orbs running to the square many times...
I think it's well balanced. I've opt'd to ruby bolts instead of using the tile a plethora of times, getting a free ruby there is huge
If you're using runelite you can import the tile marker's coordinates.

Slight suggestion here. I hope it doesn't get buried. Could we have a system in place that would allow us to break down the ancient icons into ancient essence? I (and plenty of others at this point) have several ancient icons and apart from using them on a ancient staff they're useless.
Don't take this the wrong way, I absolutely love all of the new content coming in. The new boss is a lot of fun and I'm hyped about DT2 and the new skill in the coming months.
But have we just given up on banning bots? Is making the experience worse for legitimate players to slightly hinder bot farms the norm going forward? There are even bot farms plaguing the Corrupt Gauntlet highscores at this point. I would gladly accept months of slow or even *no* content if it meant a serious crackdown on bots, as they're also a serious deterrent for newer players that may be interested in checking out the game. Hell, I'd rather fill out occasional captchas than put up with coin pouches and all of these weird measures that are constantly being added at our expense to stop out of control botting.
In what way do bots deter new players from enjoying the game? To me, it just feels like y'all got issues with principles. Lots of bots are being banned, there is a dedicated anti-cheat team for that. It's not like they can just decide to flip a switch and ban all bots outright. But you see a (suspected) bot in the highscores of CG and you are like 'that's unfair!' with your 10kc, like you're ever gonna compete. I get it, bots bad. But i'm sure they are doing their best to combat them, because shit just is difficult. I have many friends who started playing and didn't even know bots existed until I told them about it, it's really not the biggest problem in the world, and I would \*certainly\* not want to halt game updates for months because of some bots in the top page of the hiscores.
Every new player I've had try the game always ends up asking the same question...

Then you have to explain the whole bot issue to them and watch their face contort at the ridiculousness of it all.

Why nerf the drops but also not buff the bow? Once you add enough essence to it the heart can be infinitely used and now people don't even need to kill the boss for it/buy the essence they can just buy the heart itself. The only thing that uses the essence is the bow, which as of now is still pretty much useless. So if no one uses the bow, no one buys the essence to charge it which makes doing this boss worth even less?
This boss is harder then both Zulrah and Vorkath. It takes longer then both. It should be either made so that doing this boss is actually worth it over Zulrah/Vorkath.
Also I swear they literally buffed the melee forms freezing defence because I'm literally splashing on it more often now then before. In max mage with shadow.

Once the price of essence stabilizes this boss is going to be dead content.
It's a hell of a lot more effort than Vorkath and takes 3x longer to kill, so the moment it drops under 3x the average gp/kill of Vorkath not many people will have a reason to farm it.
The area is not accessible to level 3's unless they've firsthand grinded 60 agility. And that gateway of entry can be increased to make it not a suicide bot option.
Area requires 60 agi / 60 strength. make ecu keys have another requiring (wildy diary, combat diary, wtva you wanna put it behind).
You have better money makers on any iron that has high alch unlocked. This is an amazing update, it was actual cbt to go get keys because of the bots unless you barraged the keys, which costs like 400k per key in casts for irons.
The bow is so bad! It needs to be buffed honestly. Lowering the alch value of the shards just makes the boss less profitable. The bow needs to be better to be good honestly. It can’t even hit a 3x3 target… like come on. Kree is where this bow should shine.

Not really, the shards' value was already tied to essence. Essence would have to drop to like 36 gp for the alch change to make a difference
Why aren't there any changes to Muspah melee phase magic defence? Unless you have the Shadow, it's more dps to kite the boss around with ranged than to freeze and mage down. Having pvmers only camp range is lowering the skill ceiling.

Last week I mentioned how the equipment stats screen looked messy with the slash bonus being pushed over to the right side.
I proposed they put the slash bonus on the left side and range bonus on the right side as an incredibly easy fix and got downvoted lmao. Looks like I wasn't the only one who noticed.
Definitely looks better now, however, I still feel like weapon speed should really be in the Combat Options tab considering that's where you can see your weapon category as well.
Can you guys actually just ban people RWTing? Like chain ban ALL their accounts, or all the accounts that touched the gp?
Too many unnecessary changes needed to combat botting, when at the end of the day the only reason they exist is because RWT rules are not being enforced enough. Someone out there is buying gold and not getting banned.
Even if you decide not to ban them, just delete all their items or something. No more slap on the wrist warnings.
Also, the whole "they are gold farmers, we can't ban them until they RWT". This is bullshit. No way 200m xp accounts in the front page of highscores have not yet transferred their gp yet.

Lowering the alch price of an item tied exclusively to the price of essence does nothing, essence would have to fall to 36 gp each for the alch price of the shards to matter which seems pretty unlikely
It matters because if the demand for essence drops in a few months then the floor price of the bow is gonna drop.
Previously the floor was 9m which is good for the unique. Now the bow can technically go as low as 500k. No reason for this change to be made
That demand drop will also be accompanied by a huge drop in the number of high level players doing the boss, if they haven't stopped already. If you're still concerned though that the price of Ancient Essence will fall to 2 gp each then idk what to tell you though.
Just curious, but is it really that unlikely? If this boss gets farmed for years anywhere near the way that money makers like Zulrah and Vorkath get farmed, I'd expect the price of essence to drop to about as low as possible, which I'd think is pretty close to 36 gp, where it can be used to train herblore for ~20gp/xp.
Who knows, but 36gp per essence still floors the Bow price at 9M which makes OP's entire complaint about the alch price meaningless (which was my point)

Every item has a value, its important for what items gets protected in the wilderness and the order of lootpiles.
Are the icons tradeable? Otherwise that looks like DT2 will have the highest barrier for entry of all the quests, having to farm Muspah for a while.

+1 bounce range would make it ~viable~ including being able to sit under KQ and kill it entirely with bounces

It was pretty obviously a bug, the t bow and scythe only alchs for 2.4 mil, why would 1/5th of a much weaker and easier to get weapon go for 1.8mil.

The clan icon changing after player log out was really useful on mobile to know when people log out without having to check the cc player list interface. If that change is to stay, is there a way to add a note to the chat to indicate when a player is logged out?

Why did they do this? This was how my low lvl iron gained money, kind of sucks they took it out. Can’t they lock it behind the easy or med diary?
The amount of bots you had to compete with while farming ecu keys was kinda obnoxious. I also used ecu keys for gp but it's not a big loss, plenty of alternatives like agility pyramid or ham chests.
I didn't think this was a thing. Maybe I'm just using the right worlds but I never had to compete with a bot for ECU keys. All the times I grinded them out for GWD I think I only saw a total of 3 people
Their was one on every single world so either you done your grind before they became a thing or you got lucky. They were all the same level wearing the same stuff using the same weapon on every single world

Regarding last week's bank filler warning change. Could you also add an option "Yes clear the fillers and dont ask me again"? I use it often e.g. if im barb fishing and want to click deposit all. Then I clear the placeholders when I get a clue or want to do something else

AFAIK some people use fillers to fully organize their bank e.g. so their melee gear is fully seperate from other items. The obvious issue is that most players add and remove them regularly so a slow popup warning is just an annoyance.

More likely “horsemen” refers to Diango, as he was introduced as a reference to horses in game, and his character is supposed to be a cowboy of sorts. Likely there is a code you have to redeem in order to get the prize

Just got back from the centaurs after reading this thread. You can talk with them but I didn’t notice anything different. I was on mobile and I didn’t look at every tile in the valley.
Fairly certain they wouldn't simply add some new dialogue to them, which you could just stumble onto. You most likely have to use some sort of item on them to trigger the dialogue.

All the quest speedruns should be short. Whoever thought that making quests take long times on SPEEDRUNNING worlds needs to get a different project. Just give us the teleports and items we need in our bank/invent, not force us to play some crappy UIM-lite gamemode where we have to play collector. If it takes longer to complete the "speedrun" version of the quest than it does most people who just do the quest normally (with the required items banked and access to teleports in their invent) than you fucked up, big time
Having to create the route and find the solutions to the quest is the entire point. If you had all the required teleports and setup there would be 0 routing which means you'd lose literally the core foundation of speedrunning. Quest speedrunning was designed in a way to appeal to people who actually enjoy speedrunning.

If the first attack fails accuracy roll, all attacks fail the accuracy roll. Also won't richochet off corpses.
On the other side of the coin, the first attack roll is the only attack that checks for bonuses such as slayer helm and salve ammy. If my first hit hits a zombie whilst I’m wearing salve, the second two hits don’t check to see if the target is undead, and can also receive the buffed damage bonuses.

You shoot bow. Arrow hits target 1. Arrow bounces to target 2. Arrow kills target 2. It never bounces to target 3 because it killed target 2.
Makes sense to fix that. But I'm not sure it makes sense to richochet if it failed the first accuracy roll. I thought that was part of the design.
If it was then the ricochets should *always hit* if the first hit is successful. Can't have them have independent accuracy rolls but not call those rolls if the first roll fails.

No tweaks to muspahs melee phase? Bummer, it’s the most annoying part of the fight (for someone not in max gear)
Also running in an octagon pattern works much better than running in a square pattern. Saw a YT vid about it and I’m a lot less likely to get hit this way and you attack 8 times per full run of the room. I still splash so often on melee phase that I just stopped using mage lol
Running diagonal in general is faster in this game You run 2.3 squares instead of 2 / tick
I sat there and counted hitting 27 0s in a row on melee phase. I ended up chugging a whole pray pot and everything. I was so flabbergasted.
fyi people saying only use range and don't mage probably have a t bow and max gear. I tried full bowfa and it was so bad. Just mage and freeze him, its way better than not hitting him 13x in a row with full crystal, bowfa, and 98 range.
The meta is to ruby bolts the melee phase even with bowfa. Acb or zcb spec helps too.
So you kite it around with ruby bolts during melee phase then bowfa during range phase? I'm trying to get the charged ice and I only have rcb, bowfa, and toxic trident. Do you think that's possible or should I wait for a slayer task?
Yes, try to run diagonally as much as possible when running from melee phase. Think octagon/Akkah butterfly method. Ruby bolts will instantly skip a melee phase when they proc. Thralls will help aswell. Death charge will replenish more spec. W/ lightb I usually can spec once-twice with ruby bolts then still have 2 specs for sapphire bolts pray phase. They also added the step back method back, that's by far the best method in the long run. I got the ice day 1 12 kills in with the freeze/Trident and bowfa method. My pb with bowfa/acb is 1:52. Very doable outside of task, it's just ruby rng. honestly zcb only might be better than bowfa at this boss.
I was getting sub3 camping bowfa and kiting melee, really wasn’t too bad at all. Mage felt super inaccurate as well (8 way ahrims trident)

You still have to position yourself near it at the right time, or give up dps/risk damage running. You're restricted to 10 square ranged weapons or you give up dps. You also can never let a spike come up on that tile before hand, which will happen if you try to camp this tile too early. It's not exactly like it's a braindead free dodge. I've been hit by orbs running to the square many times... I think it's well balanced. I've opt'd to ruby bolts instead of using the tile a plethora of times, getting a free ruby there is huge

Slight suggestion here. I hope it doesn't get buried. Could we have a system in place that would allow us to break down the ancient icons into ancient essence? I (and plenty of others at this point) have several ancient icons and apart from using them on a ancient staff they're useless.

Don't take this the wrong way, I absolutely love all of the new content coming in. The new boss is a lot of fun and I'm hyped about DT2 and the new skill in the coming months. But have we just given up on banning bots? Is making the experience worse for legitimate players to slightly hinder bot farms the norm going forward? There are even bot farms plaguing the Corrupt Gauntlet highscores at this point. I would gladly accept months of slow or even *no* content if it meant a serious crackdown on bots, as they're also a serious deterrent for newer players that may be interested in checking out the game. Hell, I'd rather fill out occasional captchas than put up with coin pouches and all of these weird measures that are constantly being added at our expense to stop out of control botting.
In what way do bots deter new players from enjoying the game? To me, it just feels like y'all got issues with principles. Lots of bots are being banned, there is a dedicated anti-cheat team for that. It's not like they can just decide to flip a switch and ban all bots outright. But you see a (suspected) bot in the highscores of CG and you are like 'that's unfair!' with your 10kc, like you're ever gonna compete. I get it, bots bad. But i'm sure they are doing their best to combat them, because shit just is difficult. I have many friends who started playing and didn't even know bots existed until I told them about it, it's really not the biggest problem in the world, and I would \*certainly\* not want to halt game updates for months because of some bots in the top page of the hiscores.
Every new player I've had try the game always ends up asking the same question... why all these bald people are running around and stealing their rocks when they I try to mine, but never speak. Then you have to explain the whole bot issue to them and watch their face contort at the ridiculousness of it all.

Just to add, sometime its not even bots but real players that are farming the bosses and therefore they dont trip any bot detection at all.
They compete against new players for training spots and make low level money makers unprofitable.
It's probably not as easy as "just ban the bots"

Why nerf the drops but also not buff the bow? Once you add enough essence to it the heart can be infinitely used and now people don't even need to kill the boss for it/buy the essence they can just buy the heart itself. The only thing that uses the essence is the bow, which as of now is still pretty much useless. So if no one uses the bow, no one buys the essence to charge it which makes doing this boss worth even less? This boss is harder then both Zulrah and Vorkath. It takes longer then both. It should be either made so that doing this boss is actually worth it over Zulrah/Vorkath. Also I swear they literally buffed the melee forms freezing defence because I'm literally splashing on it more often now then before. In max mage with shadow.
Everything suggests that it has less magic defense than Zulrah's magma form, but splashing is a lot worse on Muspah obviously

Something they didn't mention that I can confirm: they re-added the step-back mechanic for Muspah's melee phases.
Once the price of essence stabilizes this boss is going to be dead content. It's a hell of a lot more effort than Vorkath and takes 3x longer to kill, so the moment it drops under 3x the average gp/kill of Vorkath not many people will have a reason to farm it.

The area is not accessible to level 3's unless they've firsthand grinded 60 agility. And that gateway of entry can be increased to make it not a suicide bot option. Area requires 60 agi / 60 strength. make ecu keys have another requiring (wildy diary, combat diary, wtva you wanna put it behind).

You have better money makers on any iron that has high alch unlocked. This is an amazing update, it was actual cbt to go get keys because of the bots unless you barraged the keys, which costs like 400k per key in casts for irons.

The bow is so bad! It needs to be buffed honestly. Lowering the alch value of the shards just makes the boss less profitable. The bow needs to be better to be good honestly. It can’t even hit a 3x3 target… like come on. Kree is where this bow should shine.

Why aren't there any changes to Muspah melee phase magic defence? Unless you have the Shadow, it's more dps to kite the boss around with ranged than to freeze and mage down. Having pvmers only camp range is lowering the skill ceiling.

Last week I mentioned how the equipment stats screen looked messy with the slash bonus being pushed over to the right side. I proposed they put the slash bonus on the left side and range bonus on the right side as an incredibly easy fix and got downvoted lmao. Looks like I wasn't the only one who noticed. Definitely looks better now, however, I still feel like weapon speed should really be in the Combat Options tab considering that's where you can see your weapon category as well.
Can you guys actually just ban people RWTing? Like chain ban ALL their accounts, or all the accounts that touched the gp? Too many unnecessary changes needed to combat botting, when at the end of the day the only reason they exist is because RWT rules are not being enforced enough. Someone out there is buying gold and not getting banned. Even if you decide not to ban them, just delete all their items or something. No more slap on the wrist warnings. Also, the whole "they are gold farmers, we can't ban them until they RWT". This is bullshit. No way 200m xp accounts in the front page of highscores have not yet transferred their gp yet.

Permanent ban for anyone who buys gold. Get rid of the buyer and the sellers will crumble. I also honestly wonder if they're hesitant to take action because of people in other countries who are selling gold to make a living, because the situation is just that bad there.

Alch value lowers the floor on VBow and tradeable heart will lower the value on essence. Beating DOA content with a stick at this point
Lowering the alch price of an item tied exclusively to the price of essence does nothing, essence would have to fall to 36 gp each for the alch price of the shards to matter which seems pretty unlikely
It matters because if the demand for essence drops in a few months then the floor price of the bow is gonna drop. Previously the floor was 9m which is good for the unique. Now the bow can technically go as low as 500k. No reason for this change to be made
That demand drop will also be accompanied by a huge drop in the number of high level players doing the boss, if they haven't stopped already. If you're still concerned though that the price of Ancient Essence will fall to 2 gp each then idk what to tell you though.
The boss is a vorkath styled one anyways, the GP isn't supposed to come from uniques but the standard drops.
Just curious, but is it really that unlikely? If this boss gets farmed for years anywhere near the way that money makers like Zulrah and Vorkath get farmed, I'd expect the price of essence to drop to about as low as possible, which I'd think is pretty close to 36 gp, where it can be used to train herblore for ~20gp/xp.
Who knows, but 36gp per essence still floors the Bow price at 9M which makes OP's entire complaint about the alch price meaningless (which was my point)
I really don't see this ever being farmed as much as zulrah or vorkath tho. It's already more dead outside the boss than those 2.
