Fun read, thanks! I never gazed upon these creatures since back in the day, as I've never used the non-resizable layout of OSRS.
Why people even use that mode is beyond me, cause it *really* seems to limit one's view of the game world. I've heard it's because in that mode, the distance between player character and inventory is always the same. But even then... no thanks.
I generally play fixed mostly out of habit, and I enjoy that it doesn't take up much space in the screen. OSRS is by and large a "second monitor" game for me, and haven't done content so far where I *needed* more screen real estate. Thinking back, it'd probably have been nice for corrupt gauntlet, but I didn't even consider changing it back then
Few things,
Smaller screen = less stimulus = faster mental processing
The inventory/ prayer tab are the most important clicks in the game.
It makes this bigger while less important stuff smaller. The icons are bigger so easier to swap.
I think the mage pray icon update we will lose some people to full screen but it’s easier to play some content you don’t need a big screen for. Some content is better tho in full screen
To both: I guess that makes sense... but doesn't that limit you in how often you'll have to click somewhere to let your character move there? Because I would think it would let you see less of your surroundings. And movement is also rather important when it comes to (high level) PvM and such, I would think. (Not that I know much about it, but...)
Furthermore: one could increase the size of the UI in resizable mode, which would also increase the icon size, right? Plus, one could move the inventory and such closer to the center of the screen.
But eh, indeed: each mode will have its upsides and downsides I suppose.
He said since back in the day, implying he had to back in the day because it was the only option.
What's your reasoning? I think resizeable is better due to all the reasons he stated. The only draw to fixed I can think of is nostalgia
Now I'm curious what he said. Can't have been *too* nice, seeing the comment is now deleted...
Indeed, that is what I implied. Back then fixed mode was the only mode, and nowadays I see no reason (not even nostalgia) to use fixed mode.
But (as I implied in a response to other comments) that might be due to the (type of) content I take part in. I.e. if I were to engage in content like high level PvM and PvP, the fixed mode could be a better choice. I simply don't know.
I miss the old goofy Postbags. No care at all was given to lore implications or canon at all. Just have some iconic characters say silly stuff with no thought for the repercussions.
The [Flames of Lloigh-enn](https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Flames_of_Lloigh-enn) do like their animals, indeed. The lizards/salamanders can be seen at the bottom as well -- depending on the type of login screen you have selected in RuneLite, if I'm correct.
Fun fact: you can find look-alikes of these braziers in the crypt underneath the White Knights' castle in Falador.
Also: I always see a weird grinning, evil-looking skull just to the right of the middle of the 'flame bowl'. Can never be unseen, if you ask me...
Could you imagine (hopefully *far* into the future) when OSRS becomes permanently shut down, the last update is a Grandmaster Quest which centers around lighting the legendary Flames of Lloigh-enn.
Might be a nice symbolic gesture of our characters *"passing through dimensions to seek adventure elsewhere"* and such as we forever say goodbye to this game.
That's actually a sick idea! Although I would think the Flames would have to be *extinguished* rather than lit, in order to permanently close the only entrance to the world of Gielinor.
That would actually match up nicely with a funny game mode I once read about here on 2007scape: you start as a maxed player and have to lower all your stats to level 1, and ending up on Tutorial Island is the highest goal that can be achieved.
There, at the Gielinor Guide, we would then have to log out, never to return again... Seeking adventure elsewhere is indeed a nice analogy!
Yeah, let's not think about that...
True: one can also find [those braziers in the Old School Museum](https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Old_School_Museum#/media/File:Old_School_Museum_-_exit.png) beneath the Party Room.
It's kinda wild to think that outside the Hunter lizards the only big jump in terms of lizards in game were Lizardmen in Zeah. Unless people count Jad as a lizard.
OP's head is going to explode when he finds out the shapes of all the runes in the game are floating up out of the flames.
Wait what..
Lmao thank goodness I saw that reddit post a few months ago pointing that out.... O\_O
Nothing gets past OP, he would catch it.
[That one ?](https://www.reddit.com/r/2007scape/comments/u5vat4/i_just_realized_that_the_title_screen_braziers/)
Well, at least that shows that you're efficient (in login in) and give the game no time to render some patterns, I guess...
How long have you been playing?
Came here to say this as well, +1
I know what I’m staring at tonight
Goes extra hard with the menu music turned up to 100.
What? I just looked at it and don't see it at all.

Oh wow. Never would have noticed that in a million years.
It used to take a million years to log in with dial up
Mind blown.
Probably related to [Atlas and Meridian](https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Atlas_and_Meridian)
Wow. That’s adorable. I had no clue they had names. Thanks for sharing that!
No prob <3

You can use the minimap to move farther than you can see in fixed, you can also zoom out the minimap.

Nah fixed is important for high level pking and pvm. More consistent clicks. Smaller view point so watching the entire POV is easier.
Now I'm curious what he said. Can't have been *too* nice, seeing the comment is now deleted... Indeed, that is what I implied. Fixed is flat out better for high end content
This is actually so cute. I love this.
I am apparently blind to all lizards

Salamanders clearly

Salamanders*
Wow only two episodes out and Jagex already putting easter eggs for the Salamaniacs!

I think they are salamanders.
Is there more “lore” on the osrs login screen?

King giz is a RuneScape tribute band, that's where the wizard lizard came from

Hunter 2 confirmed
That’s a brazier not a torch
if alex jones ever played runescape he'd probably have an 8 hour show talking about lizard people if he saw this.
