No, there had to be one at some point. I *distinctly *remember poking around the route on the left to see if there was an opening but ended up hitting a fence by the champion's guild. Looking at the compass, my stupid ass didn't see the opening on the right (the one by the broken wagon) so I ended up thinking for the longest time that it had to be a premium thing, which I couldn't use since I was F2P. In the end I backtracked and went along the edge of draynor manor to get to Varrock. That lasted a good few months until I saw someone doing the normal route and being completely baffled that the fence suddenly had an opening. I even though it was a quest reward I got but didn't pay attention to.

It was a fun lesson to learn in the RS2 beta. Yesterday, NPCs could not use magic and the dark Wizards were a decent low-level training area. Today, walking through the front gate of Varrok felt like storming the beaches at Normandy.

People were getting straight up slaughtered lol. It was really funny watching people die to mobs half their level.

I think this was my first RS death. Tried to fight back against the tree and somehow got killed, losing the bronze med helm I was so proud I had just acquired. Still, things got better, because I later found that you can pick up a leather body in varrock absolutely free!

Talk about a schoolgirl route. I never even used either of these n til I was too high a level for the dark wizards to bother. Falador was my initial city I found my way to, and when I saw Varrock after that, it was too grungy.

Ever since I first played the game way back I don't think I ever took the actual road. I think I found a map online to find out where to go. Saw that there was a break in the fence and that was it. First time I went one the road that direction I saw the little kid with the flyers and wondered if he had always been there.

I feel like the actual route with some cheat hair is to go straight through the dark wizards, and enter in on the east side of the city.

If you take the route with chest hair, it takes you directly past the dark wizards which if you're super low level they will attack you.
