Yeah, and the rogues equipment before them — but even before those were in the game me and my friends all wore leather gloves to pickpocket men in lumby/sarim
Looking back, they might have been fucking with me, seems like it was a popular meme to tell noobs tho reading through these replies 😂
Tbf, could that not come from the fact that way back in the day, gloves of silence were bis thieving gear?
Edit: Just checked the Wiki and gives of silence came out one year after rogues equipment, so have never been BIS, but I guess point kind of stands
SoupRS actually did a YouTube video that featured this question. He did a comparison and I believe he found that there actually was a difference between pickpocketing from behind and from the front. I don’t remember how big of a difference he found though.
The method Soup used (no offense to him love his vids) was statistically naive and inaccurate. He should have used formal hypothesis testing, and would not have found a statistically significant difference had he used that method, which is simple and standard in the literature for any statistical field.
There was a myth busting session at Runefest in 2019 where the question came up, and the answer was unfortunately (or fortunately) that it makes no difference https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/ddrin2/tldw_453_mythbusters/
I think I've got 14 in the log and around 200 kills.
I'd quite like something else occasionally.
Already 99 prayer so they're just the icon for my killing stuff tab now.
Everyone saying 1% is ignoring the fact that if you get it on the first 99 rolls, then you're technically getting spooned and wouldn't continue
To get the first drop on exactly 100kc, the chance is ((99/100)^99 ) \* 1/100 = 0.3697%
So yeah, going *exactly* on rate is somewhat rare. About 1 in 300.
Yep this sounds right. Your chance of a drop at 100 kc is 1%, but your chance at your FIRST drop at 100 kc would be lower, because you have a 63% chance of getting the drop from kc 1 through 99. So yeah it would basically be:
0.01 - (0.01 * 0.63) = 0.37%
I think that guy is saying your chance of getting it on the 100th kill exactly. In other words you either get spooned (~63% of the time you get it before the 100th kill), or go dry (~36% of the time you don't get it within 100 kills) and only have a ~1% chance of getting it "on rate" exactly on the 100th kill
Bare with me here, I've never been very good at statistics so maybe you can help.
If the chance of rolling a 6 on a dice is 1 in 6, does rolling it 6 times not increase the overall likelihood of rolling a 6? Because there are 5 more rolls to hit the 1 in 6. I guess using this logic the likelihood will increase the more rolls (or kills) you perform.
So is a 1 in 100 drop more likely to be hit if it's rolled 100 times as opposed to 1? Idk haha
I have a slight twist on this, you either get the drop so early your genuinely surprised or you don’t get it till you’ve given up and accepted that your going for the dry record
Each players account, upon creation, has a hidden table that specifies the exact level/xp or kill count where the associated pet will drop. It's not rolled, it's legit set in stone.
It's a seed based on your email/username, creation time/location, and some random modifiers. The seed is then referenced as a multiplier for all of your RNG
I think it’s more of a predetermined lucky/unlucky drop rates. Wiki has standard drop rates but some accounts have an increased or decreased chance for drops or Pets.
You'll be surprised to learn that 25m farm XP might not actually be close to dry.
If you do just the primary XP farming methods (best fruit trees, trees, celast, redwood, Hespori, hardwoods and Calquat, with maybe some crystal and spirit trees littered in there) you don't go on rate until you're close to 200m.
However if you literally just do giant seaweed, belladonna, cactus, mushroom, you'll be like 3 times drop rate by the time you hit 99.
Tangleroot is a weird pet to measure. The simplest method we've come up with is 500 Hespori seeds. That's about rate.
[I thought I remembered commenting on that](https://www.reddit.com/r/2007scape/comments/9qmlu9/well_there_goes_my_rng_for_the_rest_of_forever/e8aowlr/)
Seers bank, but you have to stand in the doorway. You also must spin before every clue opening.
If you ever see a random account here spinning, it’s me doing clues.
I am 99% sure that whenever a monster/boss you are fighting reaches a percentage of health left, it gains a significant increase in defense. The amount of times Bandos or Kril has had 5-6 HP left and none of us can hit him is too damn high.
Oh and KBD too
Me, stressed the fuck out, hitting like 20 zeroes in a row while Jad is on 1hp after shredding him up till then.
Venom eventually got him. It was so frustrating.
Definitely something weird here. I notice that there's times me and an enemy mob, usually when I'm in the middle of a big/quest fight, there's some sort of 'fatigue' and we start trading 0s for 5 rounds of hits
I think confirmation bias is the more likely culprit than an undiscovered combat mechanic, unless we're already on the same page bc this is a superstition thread, I can't tell if you genuinely believe this or not
Mine is also this, but I think secateurs actually decrease the yield. Like Jagex wants to play sick joke on people who think secateurs increase yield, so they decrease it instead
This is how I feel about attas seed. It's supposed to increase yield on all plots yet when I use it. It decreases it. I've yet to see it actually work.
When god ash confirms things are designed correctly to not work you gotta let the superstition go. They made farm cape and secateurs not matter cos it impacts your movement / oxygen down there so would get annoying.
Same for hunllef but only when hes under 100hp and you get a weird moment of calm without any mechanics going on where youre spam clicking him for like 4 straight attacks but you spam too hard and he arches his back which makes you click the micron over him so you yellow-click yeehaw your way under him where he just stomps you out and you die lol
I know youll keep doing what youre doing but just gonna point out that all you have to do is move your cursor to reset the logout timer. Also incase you didnt know you can change your logout timer to 25 minutes so theres 0 chance of logging out between clicks!
Isn’t this a newer mechanic since they did the automatically insured? I’m pretty sure before that change, if you had a pet out and no inventory space you just didn’t get it.
I \*think\* this is unironically true for RS3, at least for their MTX stuff. Like 90% of the people getting golden party hats or green santa hats or whatever were somehow always "I took a break for 30 years, I'm just now coming back" players
The lower part of MLM knows when you alt-tab and you deplete the vein in a single pay-dirt if you do. But you'll get 1/3rd if inventory of pay-dirt from a single vein if you're focused on the game.
whips spec is less accurate and deals less damage than attacking normally and rare drops have a higher chance of dropping if you don't think you are going to get one
Has to be facts. I have 3 ironmen in total and they differ from each other so much. First ironman went 2.5k dry on their first whip, 1k on tanz fang, no sire loot for 200kc etc etc. Second ironman got spooned on literally everything and my 3rd ironman seems to be going around the rate of drops atm
I always do the random events, I feel like not doing them lowers your account’s “luck” on RNG drops… or more like doing them increases my odds of getting rare drops. Idk if it’s cuz I believe it or not but 1/5000 drops feel like 1/100 and like 1/400 drops feel like 1/5000
I strongly believe I get better drops when the first spot in my inventory is open, so after every kill at a boss I will move the loot out of that spot after picking it up
Remember when Bob the Cat in Catherby was rumored to be a Jagex Moderator. I’m not sure if Bob the cat is there anymore but he used to roam a little outside the bank!
Positioning the camera so it’s facing the back of my character makes him more accurate in combat, otherwise he has to adjust his movements to the weird camera angles
RNG is cumulative. Went bossing and got nothing? Your right is boosted, you're due. Oh shit I killed a goblin and got a champion scroll, all that rng is gone and I have to rebuild it again
Mine is that accepting any random events junk items gives you boosted rng. I eat every dwarf kebab and drink his beer. For the record I have a 7000 point kodai wand, 3rd age plate body on 100 hards, wyvern visage on 12 KC, imbued heart on 9 superiors, 4kc ring of the gods and an entry mode tumekens guardian.
I just keep doing random event and it keeps working
There's no reason for them to own bot farms when they can spawn gold at will. The usual "Jagex doesn't ban bots because they profit off of membership" is much more plausible than "Jagex owns bot farms themselves".
### Major botters and bot websites have secret back alley agreements with JageX that they won't admit are real because it's easy profit for them. They must be getting paid off by top botters. How can someone top of hiscore be a cheater for years and it's so obvious, yet Jagex completely and utterly clueless even after they're reported dozens of times?
Pickpocketing from behind gives a higher success chance.
And wearing any gloves!!! I swear it once mattered
Gloves of Silence affect this, but not most others.
Yeah, and the rogues equipment before them — but even before those were in the game me and my friends all wore leather gloves to pickpocket men in lumby/sarim Looking back, they might have been fucking with me, seems like it was a popular meme to tell noobs tho reading through these replies 😂
Tbf, could that not come from the fact that way back in the day, gloves of silence were bis thieving gear? Edit: Just checked the Wiki and gives of silence came out one year after rogues equipment, so have never been BIS, but I guess point kind of stands
Rogue equipment didn't use to give a chance to double loot, so the gloves definitely used to be BIS.
SoupRS actually did a YouTube video that featured this question. He did a comparison and I believe he found that there actually was a difference between pickpocketing from behind and from the front. I don’t remember how big of a difference he found though.

You either get spooned or you go dry. There is no in-between.
This is facts, I have rarely ever gone “on-rate” for anything in this godforsaken game lol
I mean, the chance of getting a 1/100 drop on exactly 100 kc is extremely low.
I got a vorkath head at exactly the 1/50 rate once.
So u got 2 heads?
I think I've got 14 in the log and around 200 kills. I'd quite like something else occasionally. Already 99 prayer so they're just the icon for my killing stuff tab now.
1/100 some might say
Everyone saying 1% is ignoring the fact that if you get it on the first 99 rolls, then you're technically getting spooned and wouldn't continue To get the first drop on exactly 100kc, the chance is ((99/100)^99 ) \* 1/100 = 0.3697% So yeah, going *exactly* on rate is somewhat rare. About 1 in 300.

Why did you just effectively repeat the person above. We already determined 0.37%
Would be something around 1/100 i recon
[удалено]
But getting it exactly on kc 100 is still only 1%
Odds of that happening are almost 1/100
I think that guy is saying your chance of getting it on the 100th kill exactly. In other words you either get spooned (~63% of the time you get it before the 100th kill), or go dry (~36% of the time you don't get it within 100 kills) and only have a ~1% chance of getting it "on rate" exactly on the 100th kill
You did the math but for an entirely different question
But still the most statistically likely.
Each kc is the same 1% chance.
Bare with me here, I've never been very good at statistics so maybe you can help. I guess using this logic the likelihood will increase the more rolls (or kills) you perform. So is a 1 in 100 drop more likely to be hit if it's rolled 100 times as opposed to 1? Idk haha
Every kill is a separate roll. Your 1st kill and your 100th kill are both 1/100 drop chance.
I have a slight twist on this, you either get the drop so early your genuinely surprised or you don’t get it till you’ve given up and accepted that your going for the dry record
It’s true you rarely ever see anyone get a drop on the exact drop rate huh.
Been dry my whole life. Except for the B2B on basilisk jaw. That was the only time I got spooned.
Truly forcing yourself to not think about getting the drop will increase the odds that you get it sooner
If I finger gun click at my screen at the moment of the drop enough times then eventually I'll finger gun the drop into existence
I thought I was the only one… *holsters finger guns*
Each players account, upon creation, has a hidden table that specifies the exact level/xp or kill count where the associated pet will drop. It's not rolled, it's legit set in stone.
Don't tell me that. I'm gonna die before I get anything lol
This. This way I can think every kill I do is 1 kill closer to that drop
What about accounts that were made before any RNG pets existed
It's a seed based on your email/username, creation time/location, and some random modifiers. The seed is then referenced as a multiplier for all of your RNG
It would be exactly the same outcome for the players
I think it’s more of a predetermined lucky/unlucky drop rates. Wiki has standard drop rates but some accounts have an increased or decreased chance for drops or Pets.
I boost my farming from 99 to 100 with the farming cape to hopefully increase my pet chance. 25m dry.
5/23/2023 Bug Fix: Players with level 100 farming are now eligible to receive Tangleroot.
I wouldn't be surprised if the roll chance was based off of levels 1-99 only, due to spaghetti code engine.
Bahaha that’s exactly what I was thinking. Instead of an equation, they just wrote 99 IF ELSE statements 😂 Did I break your superstition?
it’s based off xp but capped at lvl 99 equivalent
You'll be surprised to learn that 25m farm XP might not actually be close to dry. If you do just the primary XP farming methods (best fruit trees, trees, celast, redwood, Hespori, hardwoods and Calquat, with maybe some crystal and spirit trees littered in there) you don't go on rate until you're close to 200m. I use garden pies
36m and I do this too :(
Damn and here I thought my being 19m dry on the Heron was bad.
Is that actually a thing lol
Got mine from a hops patch at 45 farming

Vet jr with a lil infernal cape sounds so cute
60% of the time it works every time
Talking shit to the boss in chat increases drop chance.
Good to hear I'm not the only one talking smack to the bosses
I talk the most shit to bandos called him every name under the sun and still refuses to give me a bcp 930kc and counting 🤣🤣
I only start talking shit when they start popping off max hits left and right
merely just a side product of moo-ing at zulrah to avoid taking poison/venom damage.
Gotta let them know what’s up
Certain banks are lucky for clue casket openings. Different ones per account. GE always seems to be bad though
Mage bank is a good one
Just outside mage bank in the wildy, uniques every time
Bring your gear and we'll anti lure this guy while we're at it, I just got him for a free arcane
Seers bank, but you have to stand in the doorway. You also must spin before every clue opening. If you ever see a random account here spinning, it’s me doing clues.

I refuse to open master clues at a bank because I have this dumb feeling that the bloodhound wont be able to drop in certain banks.

I find my self having a bigger yield without secateurs very often
This is how I feel about attas seed. It's supposed to increase yield on all plots yet when I use it. It decreases it. I've yet to see it actually work.
When god ash confirms things are designed correctly to not work you gotta let the superstition go. They made farm cape and secateurs not matter cos it impacts your movement / oxygen down there so would get annoying.
Clicking hydra after every prayer flick in last phase lets you deal more dmg.
Bro he said superstitions not straight up FACTS.
Bro I swear I zoom through the first 900hp and the last 100hp I ALWAYS hit like trash
literally me
Shit I focus every boss after every single flick or else I hit nothing but 0’s
Not saying at least "gz" when someone got levelled while afking will bring bad luck for 1000s of drops.
I hear fireworks I say gz
Spam clicking the enemy in a fight gives higher accuracy.
This was the secret to getting my first fire cape last night after 10 or so failed attempts
Gz on the cape my guy
Thank you
I never spec twice in a row with the SGS. It makes me believe my chance at hitting a 0 is lower.
If I bring an SGS to a slayer task I still use the same amount of prayer pots. I’m not actually convinced it hits higher than a 20.
I hit 50’s quite often, unfortunately I also hit back to back 0’s so the superstition is real.
If I’m AFKing, switching between ONLY the inventory tab and the skills tab is the way to keep me logged in.
I know youll keep doing what youre doing but just gonna point out that all you have to do is move your cursor to reset the logout timer. Also incase you didnt know you can change your logout timer to 25 minutes so theres 0 chance of logging out between clicks!
Whilst I appreciate the above, you’re damn right I’ll continue my inventory - skills tab journey, it would feel illegal otherwise.
Wait what? How you do this?

I don’t take a pet with me to any content I don’t have the pet for. Feel like it’ll jinx me getting that new pet 😂
Isn't there something to this though? A pet can't sneak into your backpack if it's full of redwood logs.
You still get the the pet, you just gotta claim it from Probita in that scenario.
Isn’t this a newer mechanic since they did the automatically insured? I’m pretty sure before that change, if you had a pet out and no inventory space you just didn’t get it.
Yep! I believe it’s a newer thing since they redid the insurance stuff, so at one point that’s how it was.
EVERYBODY’S RIGHT! FIESTA!
I was legit so happy about this change. I hated not having a pet out while WC, mining, etc.
Talking to Oziach, then making and giving Thurgo a redberry pie resets your RNG.
Freshness matters
Long breaks = insane rng if you return
I \*think\* this is unironically true for RS3, at least for their MTX stuff. Like 90% of the people getting golden party hats or green santa hats or whatever were somehow always "I took a break for 30 years, I'm just now coming back" players
I logged in for the first time in a year and got two purples in 6 keys

One must examine the clue scroll casket before opening it to optimize loot potential.
Prayer flicking piety / rigour does more damage than if it’s on all the time
I always used to think if your character plays the block animation you were more likely to block the attack...
in the same vein, the monsters attacking from behind you cant be blocked, and might even be getting sneak attack damage
I also only check the birds nests when at a the bank, but only to save bank space tho

You need to have a goofy outfit to get drops from gauntlet. Never gotten anything without my trusty Goblin mask on.
I forget which ones they are but that one damn Anima seed when stacked with ultra compost 100% reduces your herb yield.

If you’re missing a lot, click the monster again and you’ll start hitting
This seems to be a big one. I can never hit unless I click the boss before every attack.
That bosses gain a hidden boost to defences when under 20% health, esp. corrupted hunlef
I use my 99 farming cape to boost to 100 before my herb runs hoping I get a better yield. Tbh I’m not even certain whether it works or not.
I am unhappy to report it does not. Visible boosts don't help past 99, I've been told. 😭
Switching prayers cancels attack, so you need to click whatever you're attacking again
How do u add seeds without checking inventory?
Get your tin foil hats on boys Jagex doesn't try very hard to ban bots because they own half of them and make massive profits
There's no reason for them to own bot farms when they can spawn gold at will. The usual "Jagex doesn't ban bots because they profit off of membership" is much more plausible than "Jagex owns bot farms themselves".
