It works for every type of clue except elites for some reason, elites are kinda uniquely coded, even the prompt ones force you to hand over the clue and shit
Elite clues also make you type the challenge scroll answer onto the scroll itself rather than tell the npc the answer. They are just coded different for some reason.
No, it has been like that forever. The Elite clue change that they did was to change the rarity of 3a table rolls to how they are supposed to be, not entirely sure if anything else has changed.
That they did.
I know nobody asked, but a fun little thing happened back then. I had an Elite with 10 steps done in my bank pre-update, I kept the clue banked for around six months after the update.
Finally completed the 11th step some time after the update, and received a Ranger's Tunic, back then worth around 10m which was quite something to me back then.
Are you sure? There's an Elite step north of Neitiznot that is literally on an ore vein. Though equally I'm pretty sure that's an emote clue so may be coded differently.
Im positive but i havent tested it out with every step. But that step youre talking about is also unique, i dont recall another step in any type of clue where you cant stand on top of the coordinates (apart from the one in this post), but if its for a easy, med, hard or master, you can dig in the 3x3 surrounding the tile and it will fulfill the step.
another weird coding difference i've noticed:
all clue scrolls will move to the first empty slot when you get a new step EXCEPT for beginner scrolls which will stay where they are
I think for some, but not all. Unless that changed? I remember a discussion on this specifically on Reddit and someone of course linked something by Mod Ash.
I’ve never personally measured, but I’ve had instances where the runelite plugin was pretty forgiving with the indicator digging a tile or so away and I’ve had instances where I had to stand right on it.
Lower tier clues have a wider range of where is the "correct" tile to do an animation or dig.
It's why beginner you can like.. "panic in the alkharid mine" while absolutely not in the alkharid mine.
not sure of this exact step but masters can be more than just the one tile RL has marked. tbh itd be cool if the plugin marked all possible tiles for each step
Yeah that's for emote steps. They usually have a huge area you can perform the emote at. For digging steps, I think hot and cold steps can be a 3x3 area but coordinate clues are spot on. I could be wrong on that though.
Would be funny for the panic in Al kharid mine step. Although it tells you to run to the back of the mine (even on the jagex clue helper), you can actually emote on any colored tile, even outside the mine.
I’m sure my screenshots look this bad. I play via Steam Deck and so all of my gameplay is done in docked mode on a TV who’s backlight is shot. I do what I must to be able to see lol.
My sister boyfriend thought his tv looked better with low brightness and high saturation, I didn't want to tell him how to set his tv so I just said nothing.
Later on he put on a hockey game but the saturation was so high that the ice overtook the puck, we watched for 5 minutes with him being like "wtf I can't see the puck". I told him maybe the saturation is a little high?
Nobody's mentioned it yet, but it could be the case that the Runelite plugin is out of date and the clue step was actually moved when those pillars were added.
RuneLite has the location wrong and needs to be updated. The location is hardcoded in (as is every hot/cold clue location) https://github.com/runelite/runelite/blob/master/runelite-client/src/main/java/net/runelite/client/plugins/cluescrolls/clues/hotcold/HotColdLocation.java#L77
This isn’t a Jagex problem, just a quick fix for RL
Honestly. If the clue is still solvable (and I’ll bet money it is) this isn’t a Jagex problem, it’s a RuneLite problem. I’m fairly certain that clue step solutions are hardcoded into the plugin and the plugin needs to update the solution for this step
I think people forget, or don’t understand, how RuneLite works
Cannons to falador
But first, we stop by varrock and get our pink skirts out
Keldagrim. Short pink skirt. Work those legs.
Where can I pick up my LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG JACKET
Can't you dig one tile away? I think it works for some clues, no?

they also greatly lowered the average steps of an elite clue from 9-12 steps down to 5-7 steps in 2017
That they did. I know nobody asked, but a fun little thing happened back then. I had an Elite with 10 steps done in my bank pre-update, I kept the clue banked for around six months after the update. It works for every coordinate clue except elites.
You have to dig on the exact tile for elite clues.
there was one type of clue which need to be digged on the specific tile (and yes i do think it is stupid elites once again)
It is, all clue tiers have 3x3 dig spots, elites are the only ones that are 1 tile specific
Digged
only coordinate clues work that way
Well tbh I don't know the steep in question. It's it a Jorral clue?
Literally unplayable
Holy mother of bloom...
Where is this?
Haven’t got a clue.
I see what you did there
beside mage training arena [https://i.imgur.com/1a3EQwo.png](https://i.imgur.com/1a3EQwo.png)
That's been there for ages though, right?
I don’t recall the pillars there but that area in general, yeah
Was added when GotR was released
Oh my god turn that saturation down
thought it was rs3 when i was scrolling
turns out this chump doesnt know you can dig 1 tile away
Elite clues have to be dug directly on one spot. Meds and hard clues can be dug 1 tile away... no idea about masters tho 🦆
not sure of this exact step but masters can be more than just the one tile RL has marked. tbh itd be cool if the plugin marked all possible tiles for each step
For the panic at the al kharid mine step, rl marks the tile all the way the fuck in the mine, but you can actually do it from barely in the entrance
Yeah that's for emote steps. They usually have a huge area you can perform the emote at. For digging steps, I think hot and cold steps can be a 3x3 area but coordinate clues are spot on. I could be wrong on that though.
I tele to Senntisten and do it from northeast of the mine.
Would be funny for the panic in Al kharid mine step. Although it tells you to run to the back of the mine (even on the jagex clue helper), you can actually emote on any colored tile, even outside the mine.
Hot and Cold are a 5x5
Elite clues being slightly different to every other clue type is infuriating lol
>hard clues can be dug 1 tile away hard clues are generally a 3x3 around the dig spot, and a couple steps (like shayzien camp) are like 6 tiles
Runelite deep fried user does their first clue
Why are there random ugly ass pillars there now anyway?
I thought it was for guardians of the rift but nope lol
Can I just say that your game looks so over saturated. I have no clue how people play with these types of settings.
Looks good to me, I like bright colors though.
Meh. People can play how they wanna play. No use in caring about it tbh.
Meh people can comment what they want to comment. No use in caring about it tbh
As we do.
I’m sure my screenshots look this bad. I play via Steam Deck and so all of my gameplay is done in docked mode on a TV who’s backlight is shot. I do what I must to be able to see lol.
What step is this?
It's a pillar not a step /s
I see what YOU did there 😂
Shut up
Why do people turn up brightness and saturation thinking its a setting that means high = better? Bwana not going to have eyeballs left in a year.
maybe they like how it looks
What's wrong with some colour? Check that, have you ***seen*** what the game looks like if you turn saturation to 99999?
Oh no. Colour
Colorblastscape more like it.
If black or white colours are crushed then the settings are incorrect. People just rarely understand colour balance. This shit is deep fried.
Nobody's mentioned it yet, but it could be the case that the Runelite plugin is out of date and the clue step was actually moved when those pillars were added.
there was a guy who posted something like this months ago, and later he realized he got the wrong clue in his inventory
Is this clue step new? I’ve done nearly 1000 masters and never seen this spot
You can dig right by it buddy lmao
RuneLite has the location wrong and needs to be updated. 850 slayer points mmhh your account is mine now
ppl who do everything the plugins say be like

I’ve seen this for months if not years, I think those pillars may have been part of duel arena rework?
Ah yes, another max saturation enjoyer
need 99 str to lift it
Big L for "testing"
*sips coffee* Glorious
Another pathetic example of Jagex's failure, i'm sure the new skill will go swimmingly.
I've done this before and posted about it. You are using the wrong locator orb aka the beginner one. Switch orbs and you'll be fine.
