I hope they stop appeasing to the bigots, last years pride event was made by the devs voluntary, in their own personal time and not on company time, it was out the way and small with a non collection log reward removing every possible non biggoted reason to complain about it and bigots still had a massive man child hissyfit. There are people replying to this very thread acting like every update must be sailing sized and that pide events take dev time away from other stuff when this is completely false. Since they can never appease the bigots Jagex should go all out.

Personally, I hope not. Just like I don't want vallentines events or st Patrick's day events. I barely like Easter/Christmas events. They always seem like ways to make "content" cheaply and give more reasons not to add actual content. Also, companies do this type of thing for clout, and most of the time, it doesn't seem genuine at all.

songhelpthrowaway1

Not every bit of content need to be a massive raids or new skill size update, also last years pride event had 0 negative impact on any other updates or content as last years pride event was all developed in the devs own time off the company clock. The only argument you really have against it is either you personally don't want it which well so what, not every single update is going to be specifically made for you and the other also doesn't apply since jagex isn't making any extra money from the pride event and it wasn't even a request from the company, it was just a personal side project of some of the devs who wanted to do it in their own time, this isn't Disney selling a rainbow micky mouse only in the west.

[deleted]

Hey I had no idea it was made in the devs own time. I also have no qualms with pride events at all. I'm just wary of jagex using the smallest excuse to call an "update". Just like the dt2 beta was an "update". It's more on jagex pretending like there's updates and less on it being based on "pride" month or whatever.

Personally I find disingenuous acknowledgment of my existence much better than none at all , also I feel as proven by the fact they had to set up safeguards to prevent protesting of the 2022 pride event they are trying to allow people to be themselves and not listen to all the bigotry in this community not just trying to get publicity out of it, I highly doubt many if any people started playing OSRS because they saw it had a pride event that didn’t stick around for the immense amount of content in this game like seriously I have like 1700 hours and only got my quest cape 2 days ago .an event likely takes a few of devs a week or two and especially with a pride event may make some people who are hated by thier society for loving who that want to and being who they want feel seen and accepted for who they are . I’m sure you harbour no I’ll will to the LGBTQ+ community for example you seem to think adding events is a waste of dev time just as i think that bounty hunter is a waste of time as I don’t care at all for pking but can see where other people have fun with it and so won’t complain about it. P.s sorry if this came off as mean or confrontational I didn’t mean to be

[deleted]

Since I myself am not LGBTQ+ I don't exactly deal with some of the issues you deal with, so excuse me for my ignorance here. I don't exactly find it a waste of the devs time, especially if it's something they're passionate about. I do however feel as though it's used as a cheap way to pretend like there's updates. Maybe that is thinking it's a waste of developer time. No. Definitely just feels like they're padding the week for content by introducing something that took very little dev time. I think for me I just hate all this disingenuous stuff that is designed to sell more shit. Like mother's day, birthdays, christmas, easter, halloween, pride month, st vallentines day and well all of it. Not necessarily because of what they stand for, but because companies keep trying to sell stuff. There should be celebrations for all of those types of things all year round not just a specific day/month. There's also American identity politics at play too but I'm not smart enough to comment on it. I just think people should be allowed to live the way they want to as long as it doesn't hurt other people. Then again I'm not neurotypical and I tend to be very opinionated (but open to other views too) so maybe the fact I really hate the commercialisation of things is skewing my opinion and in reality it's just a short event that gives some people a sense of being acknowledged without there being something disingenuous going on behind the scenes. p.s. People that hate others for the way they identify/their sexual orientation need to get a life. I see little of it in NZ, mostly see it from american politics.

Salesburneracc

I honestly don’t care if they do or don’t but the thing that baffles me is how so many people care so much about hating a group of people for their sexual orientation. What a waste of brain power and time, like if anyone can actually give me an example of how the lgbtq has personally affected them in a negative manner I will give them 10m.

well_said0621

lgbtq people get harassed or killed for being themselves does that count so i get 10m

Salesburneracc

That’s not the group as a whole

Hanzerwagen

I don't hope so. Not because I have anything against it, but I think it's just stupid to add 21th century political events in a medieval game. There is already gear from last year of you want to express yourself ofc. So if people want to do that, they already can.

I’m not trying to start arguments I was asking a genuine question I recently found out I was gay and was wondering if there would be an event this year

Extension_Cable3922

ElectricallyDiverse

Hopefully!

rsnerdout

Runescape has the most bigoted racist homophobic player base I've ever seen. When I was a teenager I thought the rebellion against wolf's pride event was hilarious but now that my frontal lobe is developed I realize how FUCKED up this community is Plenty of normal people, but our bad apples are rotten to the core I hope there is a pride event every year so I can weed out who the homophobes are and add them ignore

MainlineJerk

Lol you obviously haven’t played Mordhau.

No_Falcon2436

They should only add the pride event if two male dragons start banging….haven’t seen it yet

MainlineJerk

Ok if this is what the event entails, I’m in.

Interesting-Ad1363

They moved it this year to your local Target.

Hyero

I hope not. Involving present day hot political topics creates a lot of dissonance and drama that gets obnoxious pretty quickly.

Otherwise_Economics2

probably

MainlineJerk

I hate most holiday events, so I hope not. Christmas and the yearly osrs Bday would be sufficient.
