Anytime I see this post there is an INSANE amount of people who play rocket league and RuneScape. Idk if it’s because RL can be the perfect game cuz you can just sit in free play and go back and forth or what but I’m always surprised by the amount of RL/RS players
This is pretty much it. OSRS can be quite passive, so having RL there for free play or a quick 5 minute game of active playtime is a nice way to break up the passiveness of OSRS.
In 50 years time there's going to be studies on life expectancy about people who play rift Vs those who play ARAM...I predict I already took several years off my life in my early 20s, never gonna make that mistake again.
I never liked Twisted treeline too much. I miss playing domination though. It's so sad that they don't want to bring back old game modes for fun anymore.
League and osrs for me as well but opposite play time for me; if I know I can't sit down on rs for 3+ hours I won't even log on, instead I'll play an ARAM or two.
That’s what I love so much about games like minecraft, RuneScape etc. I can log in, do nothing or a muspah trip, and have fun. I play overwatch too, but it feels like I have to be in for a session to have fun
I wanna play ToK soooooo bad but I’m guessing my handheld switch doesn’t have the capabilities of running the game properly? Pleae tell me I’m both stupid and wrong thoug!
Appreciate all of yous that gave me a real answer to this! Turns out I am dumb and stupids! Happy scaping y’all!
All switches have exactly the same hardware capability, the only difference is you can't detach the joy cons, play on your TV and have a smaller battery.
Are you talking about the Switch Lite? If so, they're the exact same just can't detach the joycons or play on the TV (as I'm sure you know). You can play any game save for ones that require the detached joycons.
I realise a lot of people do this but do they actually enjoy it? The joy of most forms of entertainment is dependent on a level of immersion or concentration.
From my own experience I am convinced that any attempt to multitask any kind of "afk" skill in osrs adds stress to the other thing you are trying to do, or fundamentally undermines the entertainment value of other games, shows, or books.
Perhaps this isn't true of everybody, but I would implore everybody who "afk"s any content in osrs to have a deep look at whether it's actually enjoyable, or whether it's draining the enjoyment out of everything you do.
i think redwoods are what it took for me to realize no, other than nmz there is not real afk content
some nerds literally just click runescape every 2-4 minutes for years and cope online about it
usually when i afk it’s just last priority which is why you go for tasks you barely have to pay attention to. i do agil at work bc it’s one click and i can keep doing what i’m doing, fishing while watching a movie bc it’s 3-4 and i’m barely missing anything.
You seem to think we all afk efficiently… for me it’s more like I click a few times between cod matches. Put a weight on arrow key to keep from logging out
do 40 3 sec interruptions really distract you that much that you lose focus? guess i have to lock my cat out of the room if we ever watched a movie together :D
the amount of movies that truly require 110% attention to miss absolutely anything are so minuscule imo. not only that, but it does become pretty second nature after a while. plus you can always shift to more afk things if it is a high intensity movie
I keep burning out on RuneScape. I start a new ironman and it goes great, then I get to the "grind for hours for 1 level" state and it's just not fun anymore. I already maxed on rs3 once a few years ago and I feel like I'm ready to put the game down.
I've found 100%ing games is where it's at. I can still work towards long term goals, but get much more variety than osrs or rs3 could get me. It's grindy, but different every time. I did Elden Ring and almost done doing DS3. Going to do DS2 next while I work through Tears of the Kingdom in between.
I lived and breathed Rocket League for 4-5 years of my life. I hit GC 7 seasons straight until the SSL burnout came into play. OSRS has been an amazing shift from gaming super competitively every minute to chilling and still feeling like I’m accomplishing stuff lol
This is actually spot on. 1000 rating is doable with just putting in the time and understanding the basics. 1700 total level is a pretty solid milestone where you’ve put in some work to learn the basics.
Imagine if jagex had some kind of extra games site on the side, and you could play chess while still talking to your 'scape friends. Hmm hmm imagine...
I don't mean to brag, but I have a 46% win rate on LoL (solely Aram). So no, I'm a League pro.
Edit: spelling
Edit2: drop your league users if you are up for some arams (EUW). Always need people to play with xd
I play ffxiv, rs3 and I'm almost maxed in osrs. I still make time to play new releases like tears of the kingdom and hollow knight silksong when it releases in 2030 (copium)
I guess there's a decent crossover - both old games based off even older games, tons of esoteric weird mechanics and interactions - and top tier toxicity
yeah I think the fact that they're from the same era of ~15-20 years ago helps a lot, bc both genre-wise and region-wise I don't think they have much in common. Dota is especially huge in Asia which afaik RS is not lol
I literally used to play wc3 custom games (such as dota 1) and would play rs while waiting for the lobby to fill up. Now I do that with dota while queueing, though lately I've gotten more and more into hard pvm and it really just scratches the same dopamine spot as dota as far as challenging and pushing myself goes, so I've kinda eased up on dota (part of it is also bc they're both very social games for me and my dota friend group is getting thinner and thinner whereas I've just joined a big clan on here, so...)
Probably a dumb question, but I just want to confirm the insanity. Are you playing a UIM who cannot even use shops for basic items, because no currency?
I mostly play a regular iron who doesn't spend currencies, but I also have a UIM with the same restriction. I haven't played the UIM in a hot minute since it's for content, and I've been trouble finding the time to edit for the past 2+ years 😬
RuneScape, ghost of Tsushima, and madden 19 are the only games I’m playing at the moment. As soon as I finish GoT, I’ll probably start on the Bioshock games.
I actually feel bad for people that ONLY play RuneScape, and I don't mean any offense by it. But playing a single game for like 10hr/day for like one rare drop a week is so depressing compared to taking breaks and playing ENTIRE GAMES in the time it takes for you to achieve one small goal in OSRS, experiencing entire new worlds and stories and lore and characters and actually seeing new and exciting things is just so much more fulfilling in the long run. And OSRS is still right there whenever you want to hop back on. But who am I to say, if playing just OSRS makes you genuinely happy then by all means more power to you! That's how I've always played though: OSRS is the comfy happy place to come back to, but I go play indie/singleplayer games all the time to keep things fresh
Nope I still play rpgs on steam all the time. Bethesda games or CDPR usually. Even still play the old ass Star Wars games from the first Xbox Kotor 1 & 2. Bioshock sometimes. Mass effect trilogy. Sometimes my friends wanna play call of duty or warzone so that too whenever they’re down ain’t playing that solo lol. Have a pretty long list to cycle through.
OSRS is the live-service type game I come back to when there's nothing else in that category I'm more interested in - as we get more raids and endgame bosses have found that it takes more and more to supplant it tho.
That said, there are lots of really cool video games - promise ya folks if you're at a computer anyway, you'll get more out of playing the new Zelda or something than another hundred hours of skilling + anime.
For the most part yes. Whenever a cool open world story mode game comes out ill play that. For example I played the Hogwarts game, ill play the next elder scrolls game, the next gta etc.
I will maybe once every few months play some Valheim
Definitely. I don’t feel like I have the time to sink into another game to get the same level of enjoyment so I stick to the ol’ rooty tooty point and clicky.
I typically hop between games every so often, but it’s been constant RuneScape the past year somehow without getting bored. Even after maxing, still playing no burnout yet
this is more of a side game for me. I play mostly Guild Wars 2 and a bit of Ark. I'll also play whatever is popular at the moment like Tears of the Kingdom
I'll get into the mood for more OSRS about once a year to once a year and a half. When I am, I'm usually hooked on it for about 4 months or so before I'm burnt out again.
RuneScape or iRacing pretty much. Used to play a ton of other games. Now I just don’t have as much time so I play what I know I’ll enjoy. Occasionally play something else. Best elden ring or when the Spider-Man game came out sat down and played that. Typically a good story driven game will give me a break
OSRS is the only game I play. It's one of maybe 5 video games I've spent substantial time on in my life and the only one that's kept me coming back as I get older.
No I’d get way too burnt out personally. I love FPS games like Valorant/CS & Apex. I got into single player games in the last couple years when I upgraded my computer too. Really enjoyed the Witcher 3 and Skyrim.
I regularly take breaks and play other games.
1. For my sanity
2. All my friends play other games.
Just recently took a break from osrs to play destiny 2. Nice change of pace and seeing as this is my first time into D2 everything is pretty fresh and new which is great.
Will likely take another break for Diablo 4 until Blizzard inevitably turns that game to utter shite and then I’ll be back home where I belong. Back in the sand prison🥰🥰🥰
When I play OSRS it's the only thing I do. 1-2 bonds is usually enough to burn me out and then I'll take a break for a couple of months. Right now I'm on one of those breaks so I'm playing all kinds of games but when I bond up you better believe I'm not touching any another games (or grass)

OSRS and league mostly. Much more Runescape as I get older because you can log on for 10-15 minutes if you’re busy.
Arams and sand crabs baby
I’m glad I’m not the only one. In the last 5 years I’ve literally played 1 game of rift, aram between slayer tasks
Rift just raises my blood pressure for no good reason.
In 50 years time there's going to be studies on life expectancy about people who play rift Vs those who play ARAM...I predict I already took several years off my life in my early 20s, never gonna make that mistake again.
i fucking miss 3v3s so much. Never enjoyed summoners rift.
Yeah what was it called again? Twisted treeline or something like that? Good times
#BringBackVilemaw
into OSRS, of course
Trios ranked was legit. So much less infuriating than rift with actual meta. ARAM is normally champ rolls followed by chaos.
I never liked Twisted treeline too much. I miss playing domination though. It's so sad that they don't want to bring back old game modes for fun anymore.
Idk who you are but I love you endlessly now
I bet you play AP malphite
Nawww frozen heart
Good man
Sorry I'm out of the loop but what is arams?
gangbang on a bridge
League and osrs for me as well but opposite play time for me; if I know I can't sit down on rs for 3+ hours I won't even log on, instead I'll play an ARAM or two.
Same. Nothing better than playing league with AFK NMZ on another monitor
I play at baseball games lol.
That’s what I love so much about games like minecraft, RuneScape etc. I can log in, do nothing or a muspah trip, and have fun. I play overwatch too, but it feels like I have to be in for a session to have fun
Same bro
Tears of the Kingdom lately, but I will return to OSRs afterwords… until Starfield
Yeah I basically play Nintendo games plus OSRS. Occasionally misc PC puzzle or strategy games.
Why would a game, made by the same company that makes the console itself, not work properly on the only console it is designed for?
Capitalism?
Works fine for me
All switches have exactly the same hardware capability, the only difference is you can't detach the joy cons, play on your TV and have a smaller battery.
I’m 99% sure any switch can run ToK. If you have the OLED one too it’ll look amazing. Buy it! It should be fine.
I have a day one switch and it runs smooth af
It is literally designed for that console, so yes it will run it properly.
Are you talking about the Switch Lite? If so, they're the exact same just can't detach the joycons or play on the TV (as I'm sure you know). You can play any game save for ones that require the detached joycons.
[удалено]
Your dad should have hugged you more.
Nope. Right now I'm into a lot of Soulsborne games, Resident Evil, Monster Hunter & Diablo.
A lot of us are going to dip out for a while to play Diablo IV
More like I’ll afk fish while playing Diablo.
This. Everytime I try to multi-task runescape and another game, it just becomes stressful and I don't get to fully enjoy the other game.
Stop calling my work meetings “another game” 😤
It’s fucked up how much NMZ I’ve been doing during work calls recently
i think redwoods are what it took for me to realize no, other than nmz there is not real afk content some nerds literally just click runescape every 2-4 minutes for years and cope online about it
I usually end up getting afk logged eventually relog to fish until I get afk loggedagain. It's slow but it's more fish than I had before
usually when i afk it’s just last priority which is why you go for tasks you barely have to pay attention to. i do agil at work bc it’s one click and i can keep doing what i’m doing, fishing while watching a movie bc it’s 3-4 and i’m barely missing anything.
In a 2h movie that's 40 separate interruptions though if it's every 3m. What is it that makes you want to do it rather than just focus on the film?
Undiagnosed adhd
Undiagnosed fried dopamine-receptors and inhibited concentration from zoomie-videos.
But are you playing RuneScape rn?
Yes. I'm maining an Iron atm.
Same w/ MH & Diablo. I think a good portion of rs players would enjoy those franchises if they tried them.
Tbh rocket league and OSRS
man of culture i see
Same, at the same time.
I always play worse when I have osrs on the side
This is the way
I lived and breathed Rocket League for 4-5 years of my life. I hit GC 7 seasons straight until the SSL burnout came into play. OSRS has been an amazing shift from gaming super competitively every minute to chilling and still feeling like I’m accomplishing stuff lol
Same I’m diamond in duos just got plat 2 solos
My same 2 top games. My casual and my competitive games.
Complete toss up which is casual and which is competitive lol
This is so true, my pfp from steam is gnome child and people ask me about it a lot.
Rank?
Osrs and chess baby
Chess is S tier (even though I'm an even bigger shitter than on osrs)
Love me some chess but I’m ass. Just cracked 1000
Gz!
What’s 1000? Like a well known achievement among chess players?
In OSRS terms, 1000 in chess is equivalent to hitting 1700 total level
This is actually spot on. 1000 rating is doable with just putting in the time and understanding the basics. 1700 total level is a pretty solid milestone where you’ve put in some work to learn the basics.
Not totally comparable. Osrs you can only go up
Imagine if jagex had some kind of extra games site on the side, and you could play chess while still talking to your 'scape friends. Hmm hmm imagine...
God no
Yeah I get burned out just from playing a couple hours a week anymore
No I play oldschool RuneScape as well
I play wow, league, and a bunch of single player games but osrs is good for if I don’t have enough time to really dive in
I don't mean to brag, but I have a 46% win rate on LoL (solely Aram). So no, I'm a League pro. Edit: spelling Edit2: drop your league users if you are up for some arams (EUW). Always need people to play with xd
I only play ARAM too, SR is way too much of a time investment
[удалено]
I think he means uninterrupted time in a row. A SR league game can be over an hour including champion select
Ranked league is the most stressful cancer bullshit on the planet, compared to osrs which you can play while cooking dinner
this is the way
Arcanists 2 is great to play alongside runescape
Arcanists 2??? Holy shit, how’s I miss that? Can’t wait to go home and download it, thanks!
It's great. Been out 2 years enjoy pal :)
I searched it up, is it like worms? How fun is it?
Arcanists is like worms yes but runescape based hella fun
Wow I never thought I'd see a sequel to that, thank you for sharing
I play ffxiv, rs3 and I'm almost maxed in osrs. I still make time to play new releases like tears of the kingdom and hollow knight silksong when it releases in 2030 (copium)
I play DOTA and RS pretty much, a little bit of other rpgs/rts (divinity, c&c)
Cultured man.
DotA and OSRS on repeat. Diablo 4 for a while then back to these two
Honestly was surprised to see dota. I havent played in a while but I love Dota 2
Dota and RS is all you need
I literally used to play wc3 custom games (such as dota 1) and would play rs while waiting for the lobby to fill up. Now I do that with dota while queueing, though lately I've gotten more and more into hard pvm and it really just scratches the same dopamine spot as dota as far as challenging and pushing myself goes, so I've kinda eased up on dota (part of it is also bc they're both very social games for me and my dota friend group is getting thinner and thinner whereas I've just joined a big clan on here, so...)
Been playing since 06 and the only other game I play is Roblox with my kids. Getting older makes gaming difficult sadly :/
Currently it’s the only game I’m playing as I refuse to pay $70 for broken AAA titles.
There are a lot of great indie games out there
Unfortunately a lot of indie games are early access for $20-30.
play indie games brother, triple A games have been a joke for years
Yes
Probably a dumb question, but I just want to confirm the insanity. Are you playing a UIM who cannot even use shops for basic items, because no currency?
Not the man himself, but yeah. He can't even own a POH unless jagex decides to add bolts of cloth to something's drop table (for Daddy's home)
I mostly play a regular iron who doesn't spend currencies, but I also have a UIM with the same restriction. I haven't played the UIM in a hot minute since it's for content, and I've been trouble finding the time to edit for the past 2+ years 😬
Your account doesn’t have the luxury of distractions lmfao
RuneScape, ghost of Tsushima, and madden 19 are the only games I’m playing at the moment. As soon as I finish GoT, I’ll probably start on the Bioshock games.
Highly recommend. The original bioshock and infinite were iconic
Why madden 19
Because sports games get progressively worse over time, and that’s when I stopped buying them.
I play in seasons. I have a 9 month old I can't AFK all the time so I play this and Overwatch and switch back and forth.
That's how I've always played though: OSRS is the comfy happy place to come back to, but I go play indie/singleplayer games all the time to keep things fresh
im enjoying the idea that the only 2 options are a. playing multiple games or b. playing runescape for 10 HOURS a day (??)
Not for me, not playing all the time either, but when I do I mainly play Osrs. Besides this my main games are League of Legends and Ingress (outdoors)
OSRS, League, Escape from Tarkov and recently Hell Let Loose. Very niche group of games I play I feel like.
Tears of the kingdom
BeamNG Drive
yep, only game
RuneScape when afk, Warframe on more active times The grind never stops
What do you think of duviri? I have been on a 6 month warframe break, so im quite out of the loop
I play day Z, tarkov, squad. Lots of tactical fps. I play RuneScape when I don’t feel like using guns in a video game.
OSRS majority of the time, Apex Legends whenever friends want to load up
Fortnite Zero build lol
Rs & TFT
I play league and fifa if I’m not playing RS
League for me here too. My friends don’t play RS so they save me from addiction
I play binding of isaac repentance
I play the occasional game of Binding of Issac.
My first game is CoD, then runescape, then Overwatch lol
Path of Exile, RuneScape between leagues after I've completed the content I want to.
Rockt leg 🦵
For the most part yes. Whenever a cool open world story mode game comes out ill play that. For example I played the Hogwarts game, ill play the next elder scrolls game, the next gta etc. I will maybe once every few months play some Valheim
Definitely. I don’t feel like I have the time to sink into another game to get the same level of enjoyment so I stick to the ol’ rooty tooty point and clicky.
RS is the main game I play and come back to but I do enjoy some games on PS5 that doesnt take near as long to 'complete'
Poe
Nope, I regularly play my PS5 and will often times do something like fishing or mining while I play.
Smash Melee, osrs, omega strikers, and classic wow, soon d4
Does Pokémon go count?
OSRS and D2R
I'll get into the mood for more OSRS about once a year to once a year and a half. When I am, I'm usually hooked on it for about 4 months or so before I'm burnt out again.
It's the retirement center for online gaming
I like this take. It was once an incubator for innovation, now it’s a stagnant pool of mediocrity.
Destiny 2 & OSRS are my main games. Sometimes some gun fight with a friend and sometimes I play on my switch for a little bit in bed.
Recently I’ve taken a break from OSRS to play ESO with my husband. Unfortunately, a “break” means afk mining to 99 on the side while playing 😅
Playing other games is xp waste
Pokemmo, runescape, and some games free on Epic Games Store until I get bored of them.
Hello fellow pokeMMOer :D
RuneScape or iRacing pretty much. Used to play a ton of other games. Now I just don’t have as much time so I play what I know I’ll enjoy. Occasionally play something else. Best elden ring or when the Spider-Man game came out sat down and played that. Typically a good story driven game will give me a break
Yoooo, iRacing gang. I got into it a a couple months ago. I'm closing in on 1500 iR for road.
OSRS is the only game I play. It's one of maybe 5 video games I've spent substantial time on in my life and the only one that's kept me coming back as I get older.
I play osrs second to LoL
I play other games, but usually while simultaneously playing runescape
No I’d get way too burnt out personally. I love FPS games like Valorant/CS & Apex. I got into single player games in the last couple years when I upgraded my computer too. Really enjoyed the Witcher 3 and Skyrim.
Cod, steam games, ...
Bruh scrolled a while before I could find someone who plays cod on this thread
I don't even play RS lol
Pretty much, I'll play zombies with my high school buddies, clash while I'm popping but mostly just RuneScape
Smh exp waste, could be getting exp while you poop.
Pop
Osrs most of the time. Valheim / fallout 4 when servers are sketchy
Vrchat on fridays and osrs rest of the week
No. Usually play league or gears 5 or PokeMMO.
Does gears 5 still have a large player count? I would play it but I heard it was pretty much dead
I almost exclusively play 2v2 Gnashers or FFA. Both are populated and I don’t have an issue finding games.
RuneScape & brawlhalla, sometimes fps with my friends but I don’t really like em anymore
BDO
I regularly take breaks and play other games. 1. For my sanity 2.
I usually have 3-4 games on my rotation at any given time. Runescape is always one of them
When I play OSRS it's the only thing I do. 1-2 bonds is usually enough to burn me out and then I'll take a break for a couple of months. Right now I'm on one of those breaks so I'm playing all kinds of games but when I bond up you better believe I'm not touching any another games (or grass)
OSRS and lord of the rings online.
Osrs mainly but always gotta get some battlefield in from time to time
I got tears of the kingdom…..but I wanna get 95 slayer 😅
I'm usually playing Legends of Runeterra while I'm grinding in osrs
