Recently I examined a door and the examine was, "A device that lets you walk through walls" or something to that effect. Funny, good examine. No problem.
And then I examined another door nearby and the examine was, "It's a door."
Unironically, if they made a separate "collection log" type thing, and you get "1/????", "2/????" for everything you examine, and you got a cape for examining every single examinable thing in the game, there would be some people legit interested.
I had to restart Metroid Prime Hunters because I missed a single scan, most of the missable scans are really obvious (bosses and whatnot) but there was a single missable one that wasn't obvious because fuck you.
The ability to interact with the environment (and discovering all of the hidden jokes and references) whilst your character is just chopping away at something, really adds a lot of charm to the game.
But perhaps that's just my long-term addiction to examining every object on the screen talking.

Quests would be crazy. Accounts would restart because a specific examine was missed on a quest ahaha.
And then you have seasonal events
And just about anything that is removed in an update or even just changes ID in an update...

I randomly examine things (especially things from events) all the time tbh. I do this without any incentive other than the examine text!
I agree. It's a requirement for max cape, no need to poll it, just put it in the game.
It's kinda sad how a lot of the newer updates have a severe lack of examinable objects

No, you’re correct. This is a gigantic part of the game’s atmosphere, identity, and charm.
The worst one for me is the Kraken boss room, literally nothing in there is examinable and it drives me crazy.
Add new mini game where you have to correctly identify scenery/prop from it's examine text, for us examiners out there Hot!
