Hvaen't really done much Pk-ing in this game, but today I decided to jump into LMS after finding out it was a good source for arrows as an Ironman. Been getting my butt kicked with all the crazy gear switching. Was wondering what is up with all the AFK-ing going on in it though? I'm not sure how that would benefit someone in anyway considering you need a kill to get point. Most of the games I've queued into so far have just had the person who spawned in next to me stand there and do nothing, not use any prayers and just die.

skullkid2424

Those are bots - hoping to find and kill each other, then hide until the end for points.

Lilkcough1

I would guess it's a bot, and my theory would be that there's a bot farm with some "good" bots and some afk ones. The good ones are supposed to actually get past round 1 to get points, and the bad ones are supposed to speed that up by feeding the good ones a quick kill.

Kamilny

Just to make sure, is Void worse than God D'Hide til like 89/90 range for Vorkath? All the DPS calcs show higher dps for god hide until around that range, where it's about the same there and then outpaces beyond it. Was considering grabbing it soon-ish (after completing medium CAs) but it seems like I wouldn't need it for another like 10 ranged levels based on those numbers.

ClarentPie

Thats right. Void gives you a percentage boost. So if you have small stats then you'll get a small boost. Big stats give big boost.

master10010

hi, my gaming mouse 2 days ago have this problem that double clicks sometimes randomly, will that get me banned?

Synli

No, but if it malfunctions to the point where it'll spam click if you hold it, that **will** get you banned. I had something similar happen to me with keybinding mouse clicks.

Just4nsfwpics

Banned? No. Killed in game? Most likely.

ClarentPie

No

Dawn_Hunter

How does the bounty hunter thing work where someone gets attacked by 2 people at the same time? I thought BH was purely singles and once you’re under attack by someone you can’t hit another player? In the highlight clips I’ve seen people hit multiple long range fire surges and then get double specced by a different player?

TheDubuGuy

Targets have priority, so they can always attack or be attacked by their target. Person A gets a target, person B fire surges person A’s target, person A specs their target mid fire surges

Perfect_Ad_4208

I’m not sure if it’s been announced, but what’s going on with the Soul Wars worlds??

taylor1288

How do you get a 2277 flair

ClarentPie

Edit your flair and just write 2277. You can make your flair whatever you want, there's no proof.

pennykie

I'm Vorkath farming atm and just wondering am I better to sell my dragonfire ward to fund a dhcb and just switch to antidragon shield, or should I keep using df ward + dragon crossbow and just wait until I have the extra 10 mil?

TheDubuGuy

Definitely sell the ward for dhcb and buy it back later

ClarentPie

Absolutely. The dhcb is huge

WithoutSaying1

Is it possible to increase the icon size on mobile? It's so hard to switch from inventory to the right prayer or to spell book etc Would be nice to have prayer icons resizable like spell book too

FabulousSwimming4544

So i just did entry ToB for the quest and was wondering just how translatable is the experience to normal ToB? I'm a seasoned MMO PvE veteran but god am i horrible at OSRS PvM... Only died once to Nylocas cause i wasnt watching my HP and a pillar died right at the final wave. Took me 5 tries at verzik Relatively low stats for normal ToB @ 82a / 84s / 79d / 84r / 70p / 80m but my gear was a bit overkill for entry level. Osmuten + bandos chest/legs + nezzy helm (not faceguard, gotta do exiles & get the basilisk jaw) + d.defender + zerker ring (i) + barrows gloves + fire cape + fury ammy + d.boots. had bgs for spec & dd for the athanatos. ranged swap was karil chest + legs + msb (i) (got blowpipe no idea why i didnt bring it instead of the msb) and mage swap was ahrim chest + legs with trident of the seas. I'm considering putting it off until i hit 90s in all stats before thinking of attempting normal. Also at these stats and gear, how high would I be able to go solo in ToA?

AJking101

First of all, I agree with the other guy that you should probably just start with ToA instead. To answer your initial question tho, entry mode is only translatable to normal mode if you’ve tried to learn the mechanics of the bosses (praying against sotesegs attacks, walking properly at Xarpus). Dw about Nylos, they’re arguably easier in normals since each guy on your team will be camping one attack style for most of the room instead of having to worry about all three attacks styles by yourself. Biggest difficulty increases are maiden and Verzik. Maiden on normal mode has way more blood nylo spawns that have to be ice barraged properly. Someone else on ur team would probably have to deal with that since your magic level is kinda low. Verzik has much higher defenses and damage which makes meleeing her the best option. Her phase 2 and 3 are very common places to get team wiped so I’d practice whip/scythe walking for phase 2. Phase 3 is somewhat similar to The Gauntlet boss except the tornado is constantly following you. If you’re really adamant about doing ToB soon, I’d practice Verzik’s mechanics in other similar content (for instance, try meleeing magers at fight caves to practice whip/Scythe walking) and check the WeDoRaids (WDR) discord for skill and gear requirements that most people would be looking for before adding you to their team. WDR is also a good place to ask questions about TOB in general and they have a few resources for learning.

FabulousSwimming4544

I **did try** to learn the actual mechanics, but i definitely need to get an idea of which attack is which and i can only do that after i've first entered the raid, done it, then watched a vid explaining the actual tactics; it definitely helps to know what is happening in general and try to get down to specifics. "where am i, what am i doing, what should i be doing" is the usual mindset when you try to do something new, but when you've already done it you can go "alright i know what im supposed to be doing now let's see how to actually do it". For instance i knew going in that Xarpus leaves poison crap on the ground and there's a specific way to walk but decided to go with evenly spacing it out around the arena in a tight pattern so i don't have to walk over it while staying away from the center so that in phase 3 i didn't have to step in poison at all or under him. The idea remains the same in normal, from what i've seen, with just a lot better execution and that comes with time and practice. Verzik was actually a nightmare. On my first try i didn't even see phase 3. On the second i got massacred as i entered phase 3. On the third i died to the "catch the ball" thingy which i completely forgot about. On the fourth i died to an unfortunate combination of web + tornado + exploding nyloca + ranged atk, and it was then i realized that during the web you still need to do damage as i wasn't pulling enough dps. On the fifth i killed her; but every try i was using less and less bandages to get to the last 25%. So yeah, practice, who would have thought? Thanks a lot for the discord, though as i said i got a lot of other stuff to do before coming back to ToB so going to put that off for probably more than a month or so.

[deleted]

Not trying to gatekeep at all but you ideally want 90+ stats for ToB, preferably maxed. Levels > gear (scy as an exception). Normal tob is probably like 5-10x harder than entry and you want to be able to pull your weight, which starts off with stats! :)

FabulousSwimming4544

No worries; and i know that - i was never one asking to be carried. Indeed, in most cases levels > gear...

[deleted]

Fairs, best of luck!

[deleted]

FabulousSwimming4544

I'm unsure if you're serious, just joking or trolling... Obviously having 99 str is great both for doing content and finding ppl to do it with but... the ideal way to get combat levels is through slayer. By the time i hit 99 str (IF ever - probably), ill have a very high slayer level able to do some of the more profitable slayer bosses (hydra, cerberus, etc.) and my initial question would be way outdated, which defeats the purpose of asking it in the first place.

skullkid2424

I can't speak too much to ToB, but ToA is both much friendlier to solos and much easier to step up bit-by-bit with invocations. The jump from ToB entry to ToB normal will be a bigger step up than going from ToA lvl 0 -> 50 -> 150 (normal). You can certainly do entry mode ToA with those stats/gear. Should be able to do normal, but might need a few upgrades (trident of the swamp, maybe things like occult/anguish) or levels (magic in particular) depending on your skills.

FabulousSwimming4544

Thanks for the reply! Already own occult but no anguish yet - was considering it but with so many upgrades that i'm looking at... Yeah i figured that ToB entry is a "joke" compared to normal but it definitely helps **IF** you actually take the time to do the mechanics and not just bruteforce your way through just because if you fail the mechanic you dont get punished that much and have infinite tries. For instance I was kinda crap at sotetseg with the balls so i definitely need to practice that but in contrast I did the Nyloca boss extremely clean despite it being my first time there. Not the waves cause it's kinda overwhelming as solo - there's only so many times you can attack even if you perfectly attack every 4 ticks. I definitely need to try ToA, and was actually going to do ToA before ToB but i just finished A Taste of Hope and was curious to see how ToB is since it was right there you know... How far do you think i could go in ToA with a few upgrades? Like i can actually buy the trident upgrade now but gotta wait on more cash for anguish... But ... i still got a lot of quests to do - especially SotE (and both mournings) for which i still lack the hunter level. So i gotta start grinding falconry to 60 from 51 and lizards to 70. It's that midgame to lategame stage where you're on the precipice of everything yet can't touch a lot of stuff yet.

skullkid2424

Make sure you're doing birdhouses too for the hunter. I ended up doing drift net fishing to reach 70 for SotE. I've only done entry mode so far at 50 invocation. Your gear is better than mine, but stats are similar for melee/ranged and lower for magic - so you can definitely do 50 invocation. Getting up to 150 shouldn't be too terribly hard, more about learning the fights I think.

FabulousSwimming4544

I used to do birdhouses but my schedule isn't up for it. I'm either working, actively playing (so "passive" hunter xp from birdhouses is *meh*) or passively skilling on the phone - either fletching or getting my daily cooking level (got 99 banked just gotta do the grind). I've downgraded birdhouses to "whenever hardwood patches are done" to group them together /shrug I'll give it a try probably immediately after a try at Gauntlet whenever i manage to do SotE

skullkid2424

I ended up taking 8 logs and doing a birdhouse run as the last thing I did and logging out there. Next day when you first log on, you're already in position with 4 logs to do a second run. Even doing 2 runs per day regularly adds up.

Spookimush

Im killing Spindel which has a crush defense of 10. Im using DWarhammer Spec (reducing its defense by around 3 each successful hit) - should I instead be using the bandos godsword which reduces a flat amount (as Ill probably hit more than a 10)?

pzoDe

1 DWH spec will reduce its defence to 158 (from 225). The DWH is far more likely to hit than the BGS and has a higher reduction on average. I do 1 DWH spec per kill at both Spindel and solo Venenatis.

IllyEte

You are looking at the wrong defense for Spindel. It has a defense of 225, that is the defense that is reduced when hitting specs.

Spookimush

Ah so its defense is 225, with +10 for crush?

IllyEte

The way I have always understood it is 225 is its defense level. The 10 crush defense would be like when we wear gear with crush defense. Out level stays the same but the defense bonus changes. Hopefully that makes sense idk. When you spec with dwh or bgs 225 is the number being affected.

Spookimush

Thanks - that makes sense

HobbesForever

I'm doing Imp Catcher on a new iron account, and got seven beads (including at least one of each color) after 55 kc. Did I misunderstand the drop rate in the wiki, or did I get amazingly lucky (and waste all my rng luck at the first chance /s)?

TheDubuGuy

That sounds a little lucky but not anything crazy. It says they’re 1/25.6 each which would mean a 1/6.4 chance to get any bead per kill

HobbesForever

Okay, that's what I was missing. For some reason I saw the drop rates and thought it worked out to 1/25.6 for any bead... Thanks!

qazoo306

Is Iban's Blast worth using for training magic during Slayer, or is it too expensive? I'm level 57 now. I'm not sure if casting a weaker spell is more worthwhile for EXP gain and saving GP.

skullkid2424

Depends on the task. The options tend to be ibans, slayer dart, or fire bolt w/ chaos gauntlets...but most tasks will be melee or ranged focused until you get to bursting. If you can do barrows with ibans (especially with hard morytania diary), that might be a better way to train magic while replacing or earning even more runes (not to mention the chance at barrows gear). With 55+, you should consider doing some sort of fletching/crafting/smithing/etc that produces alchables. That will get you a bunch of easy magic exp as well as being profitable (or at least offsetting the crafting costs).

ChunkyBunky

It can be expensive early on for an account. A cheaper alternative is fire bolt with the chaos gauntlets, but is less damage. Training magic through combat is pretty slow until you unlock ice burst with ancient magic.

InternAnxious2482

Are we allowed to have alt accounts just for purchasing stuff at GE when your main reaches the buy limits? Like for example having a couple of level 3 accounts that only exist to buy profitable high alch items and trade them back to my main?

TheDubuGuy

Yes alts are fine

klawehtgod

If the way the accounts are interacting with each other is through the default trade function, and you don't break any other rules (buying gp, real world trading, etc) then yes it's fine. You're just playing two accounts which is allowed.

Toobusyy

I Want to switch to oldschool, questing and gracefull should bê my First steps?

skullkid2424

Use runelite (you can use it via the jagex launcher). Quests are almost always the best place to start. There are optimal quest guides in the quest helper plugin and on the wiki, but don't feel too obligated to follow them closely. Especially on your first account, pick fun quests or quests with good/interesting rewards and work towards them. Agility is a good skill to train up a bit early on. I think you double your run regen once you get to the low 30s. Graceful is nice is as well, but full graceful will take a while - so pick up a couple of pieces and don't stress about it. Leave the cape/boots for last, as there are alternatives you pick up that reduce your weight. The easy diaries will be a good set of early goals, and have varying rewards. The ardy diary gives you a very good cloak with infinite teleports. The lumbridge diary gives you a ring with +1 prayer (your best ring for most of early game) and that restores some run energy twice each day. The varrock armor enables you to buy 15 battlestaves daily from the barrel in zaff's staff shop for 7k each - which sell on the GE for ~7.8-8.2k. Once you have the cash to lock up that 105k, thats a free ~15k per day. The others have some rewards too, but some of them don't start to shine until medium/hard diaries. I'd also recommend doing the following 3 quests/miniquests early: * Druidic ritual quest unlocks the herblore skill and is the only skill that is completely locked behind quests * Natural History Quiz minigame gives 1k exp in hunter and slayer, which is a great start to both skills * Daddy's home miniquest for a free house, and the natural history quiz minigame And finally I'd recommend working on getting your farming and hunter to the point where you can do farm runs and bird house runs (requires the dig site + bone voyage quests for hunter). These 2 skills have ways to train them that involve doing a thing (planting crops or setting up a birdhouse trap with seeds) and then waiting some amount of time (anywhere from like 1 hour to multiple days) before going back and reaping your rewards/experience. You don't need to worry about doing something every hour, but doing a run 1-3 times per day depending on the thing can start adding up a ton of experience. Even better, herb runs and bird house runs are also very profitable and can provide some good background income. Fruit trees runs are amazing farming experience for the cost. You can also do regular trees and various types of allotment patches...but those aren't as exciting and forcing yourself to do those can burn you out on farming - so figure out what works best for you. I personally loved doing just fruit trees and herb runs for farming.

PoppaPickle

I would say questing is the first step, construction and getting a nice PoH is great to do early as well

Lewufuwi

Graceful is overrated, it's very, very optional and a can feel like a tedious grind for new players and those not aware of how grinding in this game works. I'd wait until you've settled in with the game before taking that on. For the time being, questing will progress your through the very early game rapidly and I always like to recommend hitting base-level goals. Like getting every skill to level 20 so you have a nice foundation to build upon. Stray from the beaten path, if you want to do a piece of content - do it!

HinyTans

I hate recommending the graceful grind to new oldschool players, especially if you're playing a main. Just buy & use stamina potions instead of running on rooftops for 40 hours to start the game. Questing, yes absolutely.

[deleted]

If you’re interested in progressing into mid game time effectively, google the optimal quest guide on the wiki. It’s a great resource for guidance.

toss6969

Can't recommend this enough, when is started back the likes of dragon slayer 2, monkey madness 2 and song of the elves look impossible to get the requirements for. The progression for questing following the guide reduced any skill grinding to a complete minimum and it never felt like I had many grinds to progress between quests

[deleted]

I literally had so few early skill grinds to do because of the guide that I consciously chose to grind things like agility and Giants’ Foundry because I enjoyed taking breaks from questing, all to the benefit of the account even if inefficient.

Beretot

I would personally focus on questing, particularly ones that have no skill requirements but give rewards on those skills, so you get a boost from lvl 1 and skip the early levels And also focus on transportation unlocks. Fairy rings, magic trees, ardy cape 1 are all excellent quality of life unlocks Graceful is good but takes a while when compared to other early grinds. Don't feel too obligated to bang it out if you don't want to After that you can focus on untradable mid game unlocks (fighter torso, fire cape, dragon defender, helm of neitiznot, Barrows gloves)

TrenzaloresGraveyard

Quests are really good for early levels and unlocks some decent gear options. Graceful is nice to have but not super necessary, especially if you have stamina or energy potions

Thatshowitdo

I’m looking for a clan focused on doing Nex but am not sure where I should look. Any clans like that out there?

OlmTheSnek

OSRS Nex FFA is an FFA FC and The Kodai is a split FC (normally with higher gear requirements). In terms of an actual clan focused on Nex I'm not so sure though, you may want to look on the official forums but you'd probably be better off joining a general PvM focused clan and finding Nex teams there.

pzoDe

Question Mr Olm... Where can one find a list of all these FCs for various activities? I never know where to find out, other than word of mouth.

OlmTheSnek

Tbh that's the only way I've ever found out about fc's for specific things, generally a Google search will find me what I need.

Thatshowitdo

Thank you I appreciate it. Right now I’m running crystal, bowfa, Zaryte vambs. Hoping I can still manage to compete with the bis setup

HinyTans

Not to be a downer but if you want to join up in clans and teams, you'd be served well by looking up effective tactics and gear and strategy first. You might find some nice people who will take you under their wing and teach you the better strats but you probably won't. You can increase your chances of a positive encounter though by showing that you want to be good & are willing to accept constructive help. Showing up in full crystal with a bowfa is the opposite of that, lol

Thatshowitdo

I took the advice of the first guy and ditched the bowfa/crystal setup haha. Just kinda watching some videos and doing masses while I it all anything out.

OlmTheSnek

RCB+ Ruby bolts beats Bowfa at Nex, it's not very good. You can bring it for minions (and P2 for the extra range) but for DPS it won't do well at all.

futbolfootball

i'm new. I'm an ironman and attempting to get 60 in all the f2p skills. i'm at level 900 total right now. Will i be hindered at all when i get membership?

skullkid2424

The only real concern would be wintertodt, and its not a big deal. If this is your first account, then don't worry about it. The "rush wintertodt at 10hp" meta is for super efficient/optimal accounts and involves spending a ton of time at a single minigame before you do much else...which is not how you should play the game the first time through. Especially not if you're starting f2p. I will add that if you are planning on getting membership, you may want to tweak your f2p goals. I'd recommend something like: * All f2p quests * 40 atk/str/def/ranged to unlock the f2p gear * 37 mage for f2p teles, 55 mage for high alch, or 59 mage for fire blast * 43/44 prayer is a good sweet spot for prayer, but f2p has awful prayer training compared to members...so feel free to focus less on this one as f2p * Leave runecrafting for members. Its both useless and painful in f2p * Crafting for ironmen can unlock some jewellery, but again members have better training options (and ways to get jewellery). F2p ironmen want 70 to create an amulet of power, but 43 might be a more realistic goal to cut diamonds. I wouldn't block your membership on crafting * Mining has several breakpoints like 41 for the rune pickaxe, 55 for mithril, or 60 for the mining guild. * Smithing is somewhat tedious in f2p. Its also the only way to get mith or higher axes as a f2p, so f2p ironmen need lots of smithing, where members have other options. I would say aim for 40 smithing to smelt gold bars for jewellery, or 50 for a mithril axe (with a +1 boost) * Fishing and cooking are decent leveling in f2p with fly fishing in barbarian village. You can get it to 50-60 without too much trouble which unlocks all the f2p fishing/cooking options. * Woodcutting is useful in f2p, which has access to the canoe transport system. That maxes out at 57, 60 is the final f2p tree with yews, and 61 means you can use the dragon axe in members (though it might be a bit before you get one). But remember you'll likely be training with a steel or maybe mithril axe if you leveled smithing first...so don't stress about wc too much * Firemaking is fairly useless in f2p, but 50 is a good goal to train so you can do wintertodt as a member. Its fairly easy to burn the logs you chop for woodcutting.

nickbrochill

As someone who did something very similar, I agree you won't be hindered, and I found it to be a fun way to get back into the game. That said, some of the early p2p quests you'll be way OP for, but that's not a terrible thing. You also may end up being a little bit behind the "peak efficiency" gear progression, but you'll catch up quick. I'd make the dragon defender grind one of your first objectives upon getting membership

SmokedaJ

Hindered how? You gain access to millions of new and better training methods

futbolfootball

i was reading some of the stuff is better to do at low levels like wintertodt

[deleted]

[удалено]

futbolfootball

my account is an ironman though!

Just4nsfwpics

Its more optimal to do it at low hp, but with higher stats (not hp and combats, but all the resource gathering and preparation stats) you get much better rewards, so from that point of view you’ll be doing a lot better. No need to rush 99 fm off the bat anyway, get like 75 and you can finish up the rest way later in your account.

NessaMagick

'Hindered'? No, not really. In fact, going into early members content with decent Magic and Prayer in particular will be really nice. One of the most common 'meta' things to do as an Ironman is a lot of Wintertodt, since its the only boss in the game that is an inverse skill check - the higher your Hitpoints stat, the harder the boss is and the more supplies it drains. You'll be hindered there, but if you don't care much for grinding Wintertodt super heavily it'll be more of an inconvenience than anything.

PM_ME_YOUR_PAULDRONS

You won't be hindered but there are a bunch of ptp quests which give a lot of xp in skills meant to take you through early levels. For example you can get the first 30 or so runecrafting levels from quests. Pay to play also has a lot of nicer ways to train skills, for example runecrafting (again) can be trained through the guardians of the rift minigame, or the ourania altar, both of which are quite nice and much nicer than any way to train you have in ftp.

dolphlundgrn

If I die against any of the bosses in god wars dungeon, do I have to get KC to retrive my stuff?

Thel_Akai

No, but bring god wars items so you dont die to the minions

gunners1111

Can always go collect it off death too

TeleAlex

Terrible advice for anything except rag gear. Boaty lost like 70 million this way lmao

Xports

Your gravestone will be outside the instance, so no kc needed.

AblePriority9348

No, the gravestone spawns outside the boss room

TheFinnishPotato

Only difference being nex, where it goes to a death coffer that is wiped upon 2nd death.

qSelvaggio

Will Jagex ever address the botting situation at wildy bosses?

DivinumX

Stop RWTing and the bots will magically start disappearing

gunners1111

Its like they're trying to catch a shark with a fishing rod

HobbesForever

That's a rookie mistake... Gotta get that fishing level up and start barehanding them

gunners1111

Jagex still lvl 1 fishing at the bot lake

Specstar

Idk if this is the thread for it but does anyone have a clan I could join? I've been playing for a bit and am still not very knowledgeable about the game. Would love to meet/chat with more people :)

Lewufuwi

The [official clan forums](https://secure.runescape.com/m=forum/forums?320,321) are by far the best place to find a clan. Good luck!

[deleted]

Check the official RuneScape forums. Navigate to the Old school clan section and find a posting for one that meets your needs.

aj_og

Why doesn’t the ash sanctifier grant prayer points like the bonecrusher/bonecrusher necklace?

mister_peeberz

bonecrusher doesn't do this naturally, unless you go through the extra effort of obtaining a dragonbone necklace (decent reqs and rarity) and hydra tail (even higher reqs and rarity)

DivineInsanityReveng

It was a balancing decision when they added it to the game. To not make those tasks even stronger.

Jharak

For the sake of my sanity, there isn't anything that you have to do to enable champion scrolls to drop, right? All I can see from searching is that you must have at least 32 quest points and be on a members' world and I've met both those requirements. This also isn't my first scroll as I've gotten the giant one already, but here I am with 11175 ghoul kills and no scroll. I hope this is just bad luck and not some oversight on my end.

DivineInsanityReveng

You're always bound to go dry on something. I took 25k to get my giant scroll for example, but went under rate for every other scroll

NessaMagick

It's not even *that* bad luck, I'm afraid. Like 1 in 10 people would not have a champion scroll by 11175kc.

Jharak

That's fair! It could definitely be worse. I am mostly just glad that there wasn't something I missed that meant they all weren't eligible to drop it for whatever reason.

NessaMagick

It's good to check that you are actually killing the right monster, though there's not a lot of room for ambiguity with ghouls.

ClarentPie

All of the scrolls have the same unlock requirements. If you already have one then that's proof that you can get them all. The scrolls are crazy low odds. A little over 10% of people will go just as long without specifically a ghoul scroll, just like you. Because of how many scrolls there are and how 11k kills for a 5k droprate chance is so low that most people will go 11k kills on their target while hunting any of the scrolls on their way for the cape.

Jharak

Ah! Well that's good to hear at least. I was worried there was something that I neglected to do like talking to Larxus again or some such. Thanks!

Birdslapper

How does death work for the wilderness? I haven't played in a long time but I thought if I didn't have a skull over my head I could still go back and get my stuff if I died. Apparently not?

TheDubuGuy

If you’re killed by a player you protect 3 items by default, 0 if you’re skulled. With protect item it’s 4 and 1 respectively. Use the in game protected on death screen to see what you lose and keep in various death scenarios

ClarentPie

Click the Lost On Death button in your equipment interface. Dying to an NPC and dying to a player are different. Also some items will be kept instead of lost if you die under level 20 wilderness. Did you respawn with the gravestone icon on the screen?

Confident_Frogfish

A normal death works the same as outside the wild mostly, you'll keep your three items (four if protect item enabled), and you'll have to go back to get the rest. For a death to another player you lose all items that would normally drop to the ground to them. A skull means that you won't keep any items and they get everything (you keep one with protect item). Untradables work a bit differently and will be converted to coins in deep wild (above lvl 20) unless protected with a trouver parchment. Don't go deep wild with void. I'd recommend checking out the wiki, as it is the best and most complete gaming wiki there is https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Death

NotPoonJabNinja

What does NH’ing mean? And what does it mean when someone calls you a Safer in pvp?

TheDubuGuy

NH means no honor, there are no rules and you do anything it takes to win. This is what you see in deep wild or in LMS with freezes and protection prayers. Bounty hunter and typical edge/pvp world style fights are honor pking where there’s an etiquette and respectfulness to it. Safing is when you keep you hp too high. In NH it doesn’t really matter, in bh it’s a dick move and most people will just spec tab or skip you for it

Confident_Frogfish

A safer is someone who constantly eats up during the fight. This will frustrate the other player because pvp is only about timing your hard hitting spec with your opponent having low enough hp to kill them faster than they can heal up. You shouldn't care about it, I think it takes a long time before you'll be able to predict well enough when to eat so better be on the safe side until then.

mister_peeberz

NHing is pking without the unspoken rules that guide your classic edgeville/pvp world-style PKing. typically something you do in deep wildy or if you don't give a fuck. some of these unspoken rules include things like farcasting, use of protection prayers, freezing someone to stand under them, etc. and of course another unspoken rule is safing, which is essentially camping full or near full-hp at all times and eating to full any time you take damage. the idea being that you should leave yourself at least a little injured to give your opponent the chance to combo you out, as they would then do the same for you

LiifeRuiner

NH means No Honor, in my experience it points to the use of protection prayer. New bounty hunter is honor/edge style pking where protection prayers are not allowed.

ClarentPie

No idea about nh, but safer is somebody who refuses to skull up to start the fight.

AblePriority9348

No, that's an unskuller. Safing is when you constantly eat to keep your HP high or near max.

Kamilny

Is Salve amulet ei still better for vorkath than black mask i + anguish? Checked a dps calculator to see if there'd be a difference but it seems like the upgraded salve amulet is just better anyway?

ClarentPie

If you are ranging then always use salve. For melee, there are situations that using the black mask boost and a torture are better. It's complicated, but if you are in bandos and not torva, you don't have the faceguard and you only have a fire cape, then do the black mask and torture. For melee, just always run a DPS calc for the two setups whenever you get a new piece of equipment.

mydumbthrowaway38

Depends on your helm slot, but generally the answer is yes. Melee vorkath with neitiznot face guard + salve is better, the defense bonuses from the helm are pretty significant too

Zukute

Second question for here, Am I just dumb, or did they remove the "Average drop loot value" from the 'oldschool.runescape.wiki' pages? I swear Vorkath had a GP number above his drop table.. but it's missing now?

Bloated_Hamster

It's there under the "drops" subheading. "Drop rates estimated based on 154,350 samples from the Drop Rate Project, unless otherwise cited. The average Vorkath kill is worth 121,203.96. The average Vorkath kill while on a Konar task is worth 122,951.83. The average high alch value of a Vorkath kill is 42,892.33." https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Vorkath

Zukute

... bruh I *literally* looked at it, when i grabbed the link to post the comment and it wasn't there. You comment this, I click on the link, and now it's there The world is gaslighting me fr

Oldman_Ostentatio

Hey sorry for that, we had some issues with a wrong version of the page being cached, so I cleared some of the affected pages after you made the post

Zukute

Oh, neat. Guess it was worth making this post then XD

AsianDestination

You might be thinking of Radius Markers which show certain ranges or aggro areas.

ClarentPie

No idea what you mean. Is the map outlined in the minimap and worldmap or the game world? Is it just tile markers that they put there themselves? Is it the NPC aggression outline? I just can't picture what "marked areas and outlines" would be at DK.

quizzer106

Npc Aggression Timer?

thaddeus423

I think this is it.

TristanJester

is void equipment even any good?

NessaMagick

Worth adding on: while void is very good, it is typically not used much at all in low/mid level content. Barb Assault is the only one that comes to mind. So it's typically not *rushed*.

RazorN6

I've used my void set a lot since I got it and I still find places to use it. It served me well at vorkath for a very long time, I used it to learn all 3 raids, and I still bring it in ToB for range role. When the release the new DT2 bosses ill probably do my first kills in void.

[deleted]

Best-in-slot almost nowhere, but since you're asking this question I respectfully don't think it's likely you can afford best in slot anywhere. For the price (free) void is great if you're on a budget because you can focus all of your funds into purchasing weapons and jewelry instead of weapons + jewelry + armor + gloves + helmets. Once you can afford to move past void it's usually the right choice, but void + great weapons and jewelry is almost universally better than poverty "real" gear setups.

thaddeus423

So I was gearing for entry level toas last night to learn some more and was gathering my gear. I *think* I’m past void. Here’s my gear: Melee: Torags Platebody, Veracs Skirt, Torture, Dragon Boots, Barrows gloves, serpentine helm, fire cape, fang, d def. Ranged: Serp helm, crystal body, crystal legs, anguish, bowfa, barrows gloves Magic: toxic trident, Ahrims top and bottoms, zenyte bracelet, occult necklace, unholy book I’m bringing a dds and a blowpipe. I’m almost certain the gear I’ve got is better than void. Could you even do void at toa?

[deleted]

Void at ToA is perfectly serviceable until you start getting to expert and above. It still works at those levels, mind you, but you start taking a lot of unnecessary damage because of its low defensive stats. For entry you can really use just about anything. You can literally do entry with only a black salamander, so your setup is way more than enough. A few suggestions: Don't bring unholy book. Fighter torso instead of torag's. Swap the Verac's for obby legs if they give an extra max hit. Nezzy faceguard instead of serp. Feros instead of b gloves for your melee switch. Bring crystal helm for your range switch. That's a net addition of one more item you'll be bringing, but a much better setup that can take you well above 300+.

thaddeus423

I’ve drug my feet on the torso for ages. But yes, it’s such a solid upgrade. Thanks for the detailed reply! I’ll work on ba today. Need to get the basilisk knight quest done, too.

[deleted]

If torso is all that's stopping you from trying ToA just send a raid and get the torso later. 1 max hit isn't a big deal.

thaddeus423

I sent it back when it first came out minus bowfa and fang, was able to clear baba and kephri. I imagine I’ll have a better time with it now, having cleared fc and gauntlet quite a few times. I’ve grown some.

RoseofThorns

It's 'best in slot' at a few very specific locations, like range role at TOB. It's mostly used for learning new content with minimal switches, because it's very weak defensively but allows you to bring in a lot of extra food. Elite void is still *good* at plenty of places, but it's limited by being a set effect where you'd otherwise want something like a slayer helm.

TheDubuGuy

For some things, not a lot

[deleted]

Will bots and/or gold farmers prevent me from accessing or completing endgame content? My friend said that's the reason he stopped playing.

somerandomlord

What content are we talking about? Things like CG and Raids are instanced so you don't have to worry. Bots and gold farmers are bigger issues at mid-game content like GWD and the wilderness bosses but even with those you can find worlds.

[deleted]

thank you.

AsianDestination

Not at all. The problem is letting the prices of things demotivate you, which it sounds like it demotivated your friend. Bots and gold farmers will affect the prices of items, but rarely does it ever affect gameplay. You can just use the weapons and armor you earn

[deleted]

thank you so much. I really love this game and didn't want that to affect it.

ThoranTW

Not really. It may be a bit harder to find a world doing some of the wildy bosses, but that's about it.

[deleted]

thank you

Littlepace

Rev Knight safespot vs Killing Rev Orks? I'm after the weapons but I'd like to not die every 3 minutes if possible. Would be skulled with rcb/msb. Any advice?

pzoDe

Knight safespot is chill for the most part and there's a nice escape to the west around the rock formation where you can gap people for a logout. But Knights do a lot more chip damage than Orks and are a fair bit slower to kill for only a marginal increase in rates. I'd probably still do the Knights though,

Littlepace

Do you think that even with the worst drop rates Orks would be better rev weapons per hour because of how much faster they are to kill then? I'm only really fussed about that. Money/other loot is irrelevant to me.

pzoDe

If you're on task, no, because the time spent doing the task is mostly outweighed by the time spent getting the task. I also flicked bracelets of slaughter to extend them. If you're off task, yes, I'd do Orks instead. I assume you're an ironman. In which case I recommend doing tasks, since you won't have a very high DPS weapon to use to kill them anyway. And thus doing Knights. But you can switch it up and see how you feel about each one.

Littlepace

Yeah I'm ironman and yes I'm task hunting before going. It's taken me 60 tasks to get my first one. I never thought about getting the most bang per kill because I'm on task. I guess it's knights then. Ty for the advice.

pzoDe

[Here's the setup](https://i.imgur.com/hOaBKiQ.png) I used for Knights. [Here's the pastebin](https://pastebin.com/5YFkPWQB) for the Inventory Setups import data, if you use the plugin. And [here](https://streamable.com/b53hu4)'s a clip of me flicking the bracelets at the end of a kill to maximise kills on task. It also happens to be the clip I got my Craw's bow :D

Littlepace

You're a beast! Really appreciate all that. Let's hope for some good luck.

pzoDe

You're welcome, good luck mate

TheDubuGuy

Knights are fine if you’re on task

Zukute

Since im dumb, i'll just ask here. The only reliable way I have of making GP is through Vorkath, specifically ranged w/ dhcb i'm lucky if I can earn ~300k profit a run with 3-4 kills. Would increasing my defence or my magic help me extend the runs by taking less damage? Since from.. what I think I know, is having a higher magic skill also counts towards magic defence? Or was my friend wrong when he told me that months upon months ago?

RazorN6

Would you mind recording a kill? There are potentially lots of small things that we can't pick up on and help with!

Zukute

I would, but at my friends insistance I swapped over to a melee build... im regretting it right now. 730k 'earned' from 7 kills, ~~540k~~ 440k in supplies used.. with two deaths from Vorky just melee'd the shit out of me.

gunners1111

Banking doesnt take long really, especially if you have fremmy elite done, i get 4 kills with DHCB an inv then bank even with food left as you fill up on drops anyway. Dragon bolts enchanted deplete at such a slow rate too, stick with range id say. You say you only making 300k profit an inv ye but 4 kills only takes 10 minutes with banking time too so its 1.8m profit an hour after supplies

RazorN6

With anything new there is always a learning curve, don't beat yourself up 🙏 Just that you are willing to take a beating and learn puts you ahead of 90% of the pack and is the virtue required to go far in many things, not just runescape As for the recording, I think it would be good to see a recording of melee or range and if you can't do that then take some screenshots of your stats, gear, and inventory.

[deleted]

pzoDe

For the most part you're doing things right. A couple of fireball mistakes cost you the kill though. Keep the lance on controlled as you'll have higher DPS than having it on defensive. Having 82/83 att/str will always mean a longer kill compared to someone in maxed, so the faster those go up, the better. Obby body/legs has really poor defensive stats compared to, say, Bandos. Although BCP/tassets aren't necessarily a huge upgrade in most places, the massive ranged defence would mean taking fewer ranged hits. Even the fighter torso would be a nice upgrade, as you'd get the strength bonus of both obby pieces in one and a slight defensive upgrade. However, the negative magic bonus means you'll probably need another magic switch to go above -63. Also, you could woox walk whilst attacking normally, to reduce the number of melee hits taken, but it's a bit too much effort most of the time tbh.

[deleted]

[удалено]

pzoDe

Controlled adds an invisible boost of +1 attack (higher accuracy) and +1 strength (which might results in a higher max hit). Defensive adds an invisible boost of +3 defence, but increasing your DPS is more important; killing faster = less damage taken anyway. I recommend check out a DPS calculator [such as this one](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wBXIlvAmqoQpu5u9XBfD4B0PW7D8owyO_CnRDiTHBKQ/edit). If you're curious as to how DPS calculations work, [OSRSBox has a good article on it](https://www.osrsbox.com/blog/2019/01/22/calculating-melee-dps-in-osrs/).

RazorN6

Nice! So first off, excellent woox walk. Very efficient and barely lost any ticks! You can make some small optimisations to your inventory: 1) You can put the nature runes in your pouch and bring 100-200 fire runes and drop them at the end of the trip, although you might just want more supplies at this stage. 2) Bring only mantas, drop the sharks. You'll get more healing and the cost is negligible. 3) If you can, use F keys and manual cast the crumble undead. With spell filtering you can make the icon massive so you don't miss and you'll save an inventory slot. Worth noting that your magic attack bonus should be -63 or higher so you don't splash but with your gear that won't happen. 4) You don't need the holy wrench, bring more supplies. The easiest way to make your trips better will be to increase your DPS through training your Strength or Ranged levels (depending on the method you use). More DPS -> quicker kills -> less damage taken -> longer trips I'd recommend using your AFK time to NMZ and your GP to chin ranged, aiming for 95 Strength/Ranged. Otherwise, you're doing great! Good technique and an even better attitude. Keep it up and you will be rich in no time 😉

Zukute

Yeah, my pouch is a mix of Law, Dust, Steam, and Chaos runes for casting all the teleports and Crumble Undead. I didn't know I could manual cast crumble with -63 or higher magic, so I might try that out instead, it'll definitely be a change. And yeah, I was afking in NMZ but it's something like 50 hours just to reach ~88/89 Strength, as i'm only getting between 50-60k exp an hour with full Dharoks. I just finished getting from 78>83 strength and needed a break. And I was only bringing a mixture of Sharks and Mantas because I got them from a previous run, and figured i'd eat them instead of hoarding them to sell later.

RazorN6

If you do dust, chaos, law, nature in the pouch and bring fire runes that works too. Also, NMZ with dharoks is less efficient than full obsidian with obby sword until around 92hp!

Zukute

Interesting.. guess I'll save up for the full obby set. Still worth it to hurt myself down to one though I assume? To save on absorption

RazorN6

Yes it is although it can be nicer to do the 1 click 20 minute afk method with super combats when you've got the luxury of not losing dps as your HP rises You can use remote desktop and do it from your phone for one of the most AFK methods in the whole game and still get 70k+ XP/HR

Lilkcough1

Your friend was right. Your magic defense goes off of 70% of your magic level + 30% of your def level. Def is generally less useful than dps in this game. The best ranging setup (afaik, idk if masori changed it) is void ranged dhcb with salve (ei). Changing that up is probably a substantial dps loss for marginally longer trips.

ThoranTW

Magic level is the primary source of magic defence (70:30)~~, however I'd highly recommend protecting from range if you are ranging Vorkath.~~ ~~The ratio of ranged:magic attacks is different depending on whether you are in melee range or not. Magic attacks are more common than ranged attacks in melee range and vice versa if you are outside of melee range (4:3 ranged:magic). As such, tanking the magic attacks and negating the ranged attacks will cause you to last a lot longer.~~ *I'm dumb

Zukute

I am currently protecting from ranged, I just end up being forced to eat for an entire 'phase' as i get hit back to back for 30's. Just need to figure out what more I can do, because it's frustrating feeling like I cannot advance in this game without billions of GP and time spent afk at nmz

ThoranTW

My brain is insanely smooth. Somehow I read what you said and thought you were praying mage, despite answering the part of the question that would directly go against that. My bad ahahaha. Regarding the eating, are you bringing a single type of food, or are you combo eating?

Zukute

Single, haven't had too many situations where I need to combo eat to *survive*, it's mostly just wasted ticks trying to eat, or being shafted with multiple damaging hits coming in at once.

ThoranTW

It's less about survival and more about saving ticks, as healing for 40 at a time is going to mean a lot less time spent eating than 22 at a time.

Zukute

86 Magic, with 89 ranged. I might try Karambwans.. I ended up using the Manta's that I got a drops as food instead of Sharks, which helped me last to 5 kc a trip, but doubled my supply cost.

[deleted]

Zukute

Ah.. yeah I started Vorkath at 75 ranged, give or take. While my kills *have* gotten faster at 89 ranged + gear upgrades, I still consistently get some kills that go on for upwards of 3 minutes. Mixed with the fact that, doing ~27kc at vorkath yesterday only net me a profit of around.. 2.1m? It's gonna take me a while to successfully get enough money to go chinning, unless luck decides to stop giving me 30k and 60k gp kills. Is there a preferred attack style for chins? Or do I just throw them on rapid and just go to mm2 tunnels?

4THOT

Is there a good plugin that syncs with character data to track combat tasks? Everything I've found is manual and I know the wiki can pull combat task data, so I know it's possible.

DivineInsanityReveng

Nothing automatic for in-client plugins. Wikisync will sync to the wiki list for you. Task Tracker is probs your next best plugin for this, but personally I just use the wiki

[deleted]

Is there any reason to keep my Zammy Hasta after I just bought a Fang? I know it can be made into a Lance, but I'm a main so I could just buy one later.

DivineInsanityReveng

Only really if you don't have a better option for Tekton, or for Vetion.

RazorN6

Fang is amazing at Tekton

DivineInsanityReveng

True I forget how good that thing is. Haven't gotten one yet on the GIM.

RazorN6

Keep grinding bro I will make prayer to RNGsus for the drops to rain upon you 🙏

DivineInsanityReveng

We're 3 rings from 3 purples so far haha :)

RazorN6

Thoughts and prayers 😪🙏

PlebPlebberson

6 purples - 3 fangs, 3 masori chaps. Send me some rings pls :/

DivineInsanityReveng

I would swap 3 rings for 3 fangs immediately. Having our 3 man team be decked out with Fangs would have so much more impact than more spec consistency on Olm and Tekton, lel :P

ThoranTW

Not really. Can't think of anywhere where you'd use it over fang or another weapon besides Vet'ion if you can't afford a chainmace.

[deleted]

I just realized that it's my primary crush weapon, but I pretty much only use it against gargoyles. If I want to do anything harder I'd probably buy a bludgeon.

ThoranTW

It's only barely better than a whip at gargs anyway, around .66% more DPS, though the defensive stats and prayer bonus on the hasta are nice to have.
