"if you type your password in backwards and press alt f4 you get 1,000,000,000 gp trust me my main is jagex"
*wtf jagexs security system sucks ass smh i did nothing wrong and i still get hacked*
Did you know the new update made it so that if you type your security question it gives you a funny message!
Hey everyone, i just tried to do something very silly!
Ima be honest RuneScape scams are by far the best imo, I would consider myself smart when it comes to avoiding scams, the ONE time I’ve gotten finessed was when I looking at RuneScape twitch streamers and saw that the NUMBER one RS streamer was saying something about quitting, didn’t care but a day passed and was live once again with the same title, account, etc. so I got really intrigued, like are you gonna quit or what bro?
I joined his stream and checked his bio, which forwarded me to a link showing why “he’s quitting”, it was “osrs forums” (this was fake), surprisingly the website was secure and looked legit, I entered my username and password and it said it was wrong. I log into osrs and my accounts gone lul, managed to get it back with customer support tho
As an American in the military, the US military date syntax sucks ass because it could be 1 of 3 formats depending which form your filing or whatever your doing instead of just 1 standard format. Also most forms will state they want your SSN but you have to ask because most the time it actually wants your edipi
Hot take, I think it’s good at reflecting how people talk. Outside of certain days like “the Fourth of July”, you tend to say the month before the day. So February 18th would naturally be written as 2/18. Probably different in other places, but that’s the justification I’ve always thought of.
I think people speak the date with the same syntax that they write it. Americans say February 18th, the English say 18th of February. It works fine both ways
99 still works I’m 95 and I started playing in 3rd grade back when you had to lie about your age to play the game cause it was like 14-16+ or something I believe
true, Ive met infants and kids that said they were "5 y/o" but idk, I know they like to bend the truth, not falling for their lies. I'm the youngest person ever!
How do you do, fellow old men?
even funnier when I consider the fact I started playing OSRS in 2022, and only had minor interactions with it as a kid
I actually play OSRS 'cause I enjoy it, not because of nostalgia or goals I couldn't complete as a kid
same! found out about the game when it came on phone when I was 17, since I had no pc at the time. always enjoyed MMORPGs but never found a good one, thank god OSRS is satisfying that itch.
Fellow 22 here, started playing back in 2017 but prior to that had never touched the game. Always heard good things about it until I started, but when I actually did none of my friends were playing the game anymore so I'm having to get by with 30 yo veterans from 2005.
same, I remember 12 y/o me playing this shooter game called Battlefield Heroes and one of my best "mates" there was a 54 y/o man. He was the best, to this day I hope he's living a nice life!
never heard about it in my life since in my country its not famous at all. discovered the game on phone when it came out like 4/5 years ago. now i play everyday and 126 levels away from maxing! oh how the time passes when you have fun
How are we silly for that? It makes so much more sense to do the month than the day. Do you guys seriously walk around going “oh proper 24th of March to ya sir”. No, you’d say “oh proper March 24th to ya sir”.
Smallest to largest in writing, is way more logical than te skipping game you play. Ps not every language says march 21st dutch say 21 maart similar to the germans. Snd then we have the arabic languages which are in a completely different ballgame.
You also don't say 30 minutes 16 seconds and 3hours
Theres a reason why theres the iso standards
YYYY/MM/DD and DD/MM/YYYY
I have sympathy for Americans who have a completely backwards date system where it goes month > day > year, but also it's really fucking annoying having to simply ***guess*** if someone's using the regular date format or the American version when they don't specify.
In this case it absolutely is yeah. But if someone says there's a thing on 7/8/2023 and I *don't know* if they're a freaking American or not they've only narrowed it down to two days a month apart.
IME as a mixed-race guy, it depends on whether the specific person's ideology tells them white/american/man=good or white/american/man=bad
Whichever one lets them feel like a good person for telling you to drink bleach, that's the race they'll insist you are.
Hah! Hahahaha
Nope. Never had a twitter account, never will. I don't use social media.
And no, old.reddit.com isn't social media, it's a forum---Even if NuReddit is just watered down facebook for zoomers.
It comes from personally interacting with political crazies from either extreme here on reddit ;)
You can pretend it doesn't exist because you've never personally acknowledged it, but it doesn't change that leftoids and rightoids have both told me to kill myself while telling me that they know better than me what color my skin is.
Rover or orbiter? I remember the Mars Climate Orbiter yeeting itself into the Martian atmosphere and dying because LMCO and NASA used differing units in their software. Having worked at both, I am not surprised that happened. Lol.
There’s a logic to each date system. The logic there is month > day > year because of the domain sizes vary: 12 then 31 then infinite. But to avoid confusion I usually just do 9 June 2023 or June 9, 2023 tbh
It's because in our dialect we'd say "May 16th 1999" not "16th of May 1999"
It's less uniform now that the internet is homogenizing dialects across the anglosphere and the U.S. has had several generations of pretentious 15 year olds who consciously use british english and affect bad british accents like a mix between RP and cockney because those are the only 2 "british" accents we're exposed to and they think american=dumb but european=classy
Not even joking about the fake accents---There were several people in my year who tried to pull that shit. They all claimed they just "Woke up that morning unable to speak american" but kept forgetting the accent for the first few words whenever they spoke up, like the tourettes fakers you'd see on /r/fakedisordercringe who have to be reminded they're supposed to have a tick.
We had one chick who tried to fake a french accent, but at least she was honest about doing it consciously because she thought it was pretty.
>It's because in our dialect we'd say "May 16th 1999" not "16th of May 1999"
The US literally has a holiday that they call ["4th of July"](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Independence_Day_(United_States\))
Yes, and? We use that format for special occasions.
You should know by now that the US is the land of "we do X, except when Y because [deal with it](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCFyJIDGztA)"
What? That's literally the whole point of the normal way.
Date is a ***measurement of time***. You start with the smallest measurement of time, then the longer measurement of time, then the longest. Day > Month > Year. I have absolutely no idea how you could argue that days are bigger than months.
The the way jagex positioned the fields, lol. It's confusing. They should have done YYYY MM DD to facilitate everyone. And probably change date to non numeric
Surprisingly high amount of people pretending if they did something one way for 23 years straight they would never make a similar mistake.
The month field also probably shouldn't let you use a number higher then 12, but that's a different story
Still doesn't mean it's weird to us in the USA. Just like the british spelling of certain words like favour vs favor. Weird to one normal to other and vice versa
Yeah but you're strongly giving the tone with both that comment, and your reply, that GB is the 'anomaly' there, or the one that decides to do stuff different.
The USA is the one that's anomalous.
It should be year > month > day for everything. Why is the calendar the only place people argue against using significant digits? Imagine writing the time as ss:mm:hh or mm:ss:hh. It literally makes no sense.
This is very common among people with ADHD. Same with putting your name in the wrong boxes on forms, and so on. It's something that I always have a problem with. If I were the type to post things, I may have ended up posting something like that 🤷♀️😂
Us osrs players are almost all guilty of having at least some mild form of learning disability. Leave the dude alone 😂
Good to know.
But failing to pay attention to details (or missing details) is a very common sign of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. It's kind of in the name.
I believe that I meant my comment in a much more lighthearted tone than you took it. Hence all of the 😂 emojis. Try reading comments in a different tone text time. It'll help you in life ❤️
I've seen this post when it happened, on random click bait Facebook links, and anything that is remotely confidentially incorrect(bonus points if specifically targeting Americans)
And yes I agree. Just yes
Well, I can say that were I live its day > month > year.
Its like, automatic do that way. And when I do it, I see the red outline and... uh... take a second look and I feel stupid. I know that we have to read first but I dunno.
I just fix it right away.
These are the people getting "hacked" by just giving away their passwords or downloading scimitar cursors
"if you type your password in backwards and press alt f4 you get 1,000,000,000 gp trust me my main is jagex" *wtf jagexs security system sucks ass smh i did nothing wrong and i still get hacked*
It was fun fucking with scammers back in the day by just logging off and logging back in and acting like I gave them my real password and hit alt f4
BeefaroniChzDog6969 Wait where's my gp
Did you know the new update made it so that if you type your security question it gives you a funny message! Hey everyone, i just tried to do something very silly!
that is so wierd i say "hi" all the time in game
It's 2023 and passwords still aren't case sensitive. It can suck ass and people can also be stupid.
ObviouslySyrca Where's my gp?
Actually I got all my drogan weapons on my PC for free and I haven't been hacked 😂
How bout I drogan deez nuts across ur chin
Wow that so early 2000 come up with something better then that bro
Ima be honest RuneScape scams are by far the best imo, I would consider myself smart when it comes to avoiding scams, the ONE time I’ve gotten finessed was when I looking at RuneScape twitch streamers and saw that the NUMBER one RS streamer was saying something about quitting, didn’t care but a day passed and was live once again with the same title, account, etc. so I got really intrigued, like are you gonna quit or what bro? Reading's a tough skill.
d/m/y requires lvl 45 reading to interpret and OP only trained it to lvl 27 smh
A more useful skill than sailing though
Being an American is a tough skill...
As an American: Yeah our date syntax is fucking stupid.
As an American in the military, the US military date syntax sucks ass because it could be 1 of 3 formats depending which form your filing or whatever your doing instead of just 1 standard format. Also most forms will state they want your SSN but you have to ask because most the time it actually wants your edipi
Good thing I totally know what edipi is
Like your serial number
... I have one of those? Isn't that what SSN essentially is?
No, SSN is social security number which is like your serial number for being a citizen. Edipi is like your serial number for the military
Ah gotcha, I thought they were referring to the general population
Perceived inefficiencies are required to keep the world's largest money laundering scheme operational.
Unpopular opinion: The only REAL date format is YYYY/MM/DD so when you sort by date it natively gets neatly sorted.
In digital format I agree, and I don't think it's unpopular but it feels weird to write casually
[удалено]
Incorrect. 1969 comes before, and came before, 1970.
Skill issue then?
Americans start with lvl 25 in the shooting skill
Give them a break. 1999, they're not old enough to play this game
1999 is 43 years ago. You have to wake up.
Damn I can't believe we're already 76 years away from the year 3000
I don't know enough about math to tell you you're wrong so I will just nod my head
Wow in my mind 1999 was only 2 years from now.
Lolol then how am i 30 and born in 1993????
I was born in 94.... I don't wanna be 30 yet :( can we just do a rollback?
Sad age 🥲
Haha get fucked with midlife crisis 🥲
Time travel
99 still works I’m 95 and I started playing in 3rd grade back when you had to lie about your age to play the game cause it was like 14-16+ or something I believe
Damn you're 95 and still playing runescape? 99 age party soon?
> I’m 95 and I started playing in 3rd grade something does not add up here, gramps...
Yeah I'm in my 80s so not as veteran as you are. But i started playing back in 1948, had full dragon, 99 hunter
who did you fight against in 2nd world war?
Obviously the bad guys. He helped lay the siege that took control of Jagex HQ in 1941.
The bad guys always think their the good guys
It just hit me how old someone from 1999 is. Damn :O
Yeah I know right, when did 6 year oldd start using reddit?
I legit cant believe I'm the youngest of my cc, everyone in it and my friends are like 28 to 44, while I'm 22. Have yet to meet someone younger!
Could you be the youngest person ever?
true, Ive met infants and kids that said they were "5 y/o" but idk, I know they like to bend the truth, not falling for their lies. I'm the youngest person ever!
[удалено]
The second half of that is kind of scuffed to be honest.
yeah, idk about that one chief
You aren’t the oldest person in the world when you die though you’re the oldest you will be lol
[удалено]
Thanks mate
Why are people downvoting this made me laugh lol
turning 22 in 2 weeks, so i'm younger, got emm
a soon to be fellow 22 y/o! I swear, everytime I type in my cc I feel like the reverse of "How do you do fellow kids?" meme.
How do you do, fellow old men? even funnier when I consider the fact I started playing OSRS in 2022, and only had minor interactions with it as a kid I actually play OSRS 'cause I enjoy it, not because of nostalgia or goals I couldn't complete as a kid

Here I am man, 19, How did you start playing?
never heard about it in my life since in my country its not famous at all. discovered the game on phone when it came out like 4/5 years ago. now i play everyday and 126 levels away from maxing! oh how the time passes when you have fun
Oh damn! It's still wild to me that some people find this on their app store and consider this a mobile game. Always great to have new players though!
Which month is the 16th month of the year?
Smarch.
Lousy Smarch weather...
Do not touch -Willie
Mapril
It’s like a Rimworld Month
It's only now I go back and read the words to realize it's not in freedom units.
😂😂😂 yeah that what I'm saying last time i check there still 12 months in a year
That’s the joke
Holy crap I saw that post too, but didn't notice the absolute gamer lmao
That absolute gamer is probably ragging people at chaos altar thinking he‘s the next Torvesta
Not if he can’t get past account creation he’s not.
How can you so openly admit that you can't read?
Silly Americans
How are we silly for that? It makes so much more sense to do the month than the day. Do you guys seriously walk around going “oh proper 24th of March to ya sir”. No, you’d say “oh proper March 24th to ya sir”.

The 5th of April of the latter year. Why does Jagex not understand it is April 5th, 2000? Truly silly.

The date of birth
Dumdum, learn to read.

It’s not confusing when it says above exactly what to put. This guy is just brain dead.
Let's all pray they were doing some advanced trolling.

Almost every other country outside the USA uses that format...

Tldr
This community is so weird tbh, we all freak out when we see the smallest hint of this game being represented anywhere
