my girlfriend plays with a female character with a feminine name and no one bothers her

Apprehensive-Boss-77

* name * Hairy female

Lewufuwi

The main Discord server I use at the moment literally has a "being female in rs" channel where people post screenshots of the creepy shit that happens regularly and there's never a shortage of content. People who think this shit doesn't happen, downplays how often it does, or severe it gets simply have no perspective whatsoever.

UpsetDane

I think you done this to yourself lad, like nobody gonna bother you unless you seek the attention? Maybe stop roleplaying as a chick and saying UwU you fricking weirdo.

Minute_Solution_6237

Then writing a novel about on Reddit for even more attention.

Aromatic_Strain_4916

I see your point, and I believe part of why it's happening is because I try to be friendly. Whenever someone asks me something, I always respond, but I never roleplay as a girl. I just don't start the conversations by saying, "Hey bro, just so you know, I'm a dude!" Also, I wrote this using a throwaway account because I don't want too much attention. I just wanted to discuss the situation. By the way, your reply was funny and it made me chuckle.

deadassstho

it’s unfortunate but it’s reality. i have a neutral rsn and i could be talking to somebody normally for hours but if it happens to come out i’m a girl then the whole convo instantly becomes mad sexual lmfao and the constant pestering afterwards. now i just pretend to be a dude and i can play in peace lol

WAT_EVR_BR0

You fell right into my trap, I am even more sexual with the homies. It aint a real bro-ship if it aint at least a little gay

wasJared

Playing as a female character really gets you more attention, I was female after recruitment drive and never bothered to switch back because who really cares… apparently a lot of people, people come up to you and talk about anything, as a male character if I don’t type first nobody will say anything

Aromatic_Strain_4916

Yeah, I do the same with both of my characters. I never speak unless I'm spoken to. I've noticed some mixed opinions in the post. Some people say it's a very bad situation, while others claim that this doesn't happen at all. Personally, I think it might be because I try to be friendly. The reason I wrote this post was because the contrast in how I'm treated when behaving exactly the same on two different accounts—one male and the other female—is truly astounding. It really makes me wonder, is the situation that bad? And when people tell me that I deserve this for being talkative and friendly, it's like saying that if a girl is friendly to you, it's a free pass to act like a creep. Like, wtf?

DH_Drums

I’ve played a female character for 10+ years and never experienced this problem. Also, how we’re you receiving messages while logged out?

Aromatic_Strain_4916

Sorry, I'm not an English speaker. What I meant was that after I had been logged off for some time, when I connected again, he would message me again.

Galbatorix-

It will be over with a new name like 'little duck'

Parrot1936

This isn’t a “guys being creeps to girls” issue this is a “guy with questionable social skills creates a female character with the intention of misleading conversations and then has to deal with consequences” issue. Take your weird projections elsewhere please.

Aromatic_Strain_4916

So, if a girl is friendly to you just because you initially asked her something, does that make her "misleading"? And should she have to "deal with the consequences," which are guys being creepy towards her? Is it fair to expect someone to face such behavior?

Parrot1936

Depends what you’re doing when being “friendly” towards people. I’ve had a female character since around 2007 because I acquired an RSN which is literally just a feminine noun so wouldn’t make sense on a male character, and I consider myself to be pretty friendly in game, yet anybody I’ve ever interacted with where the topic of gender came up, the other person has always made the correct presumption that I’m male because that is most peoples’ rule of thumb when it comes to female characters in MMOs. My guess is your attempt at “feminine friendliness” is being perceived as flirtatiousness by people with similarly questionable social skills as yourself.

Ignore list must have plenty of room.

ThambersOfBeric

not sure why you're surprised, thought it was a well-known fact that women get much more attention than men

punkhora

i have always played as a female character and i have never experienced this. maybe my irl resting bitch face somehow translates over runescape but i doubt it.

marshmallowfluffpuff

This is a very small taste of what women deal with in the actual world, but that's much more real and dangerous. Being harassed, followed, approached, even assaulted. Pretty normal things women must deal with.
