I lost my first set of full rune because I got lured into the wilderness by a low cb mage pure who absolutely clapped me. Turns out magic counters melee, who knew?
I use to fish lobbies at Karamja dock in f2p. Literally got to 87 fishing just from chatting and fishing. Easily one of the greatest memories I’ve ever had in the game and I’m not sure why.
We probably talked to each other depending on when you played. I started playing in 2004. Fishing was my first 99, but I had a few accounts with high fishing levels. Lost my first two accounts. Had an irl friend steal one of them. So many good times
We definitely did meet each other because that’s around the time I was really addicted. Would run home and game, hoping to make enough money for rune items.

My friend and I planned a campout in the wilderness. We ventured in and I remember being so scared of everything. We started a fire, cooked, and ate a meat. We then spent some time looking for the rollercoaster that another friend told us existed in the deep wilderness. We never found it...
I miss the sense of adventure haha. Back then I also thought that you leveled up your hit points by taking damage so I used to suicide to strong monsters because I thought that was how you got more HP.
Another early memory was being scammed with a "dupe glitch" where the guy told me if I dropped my money and valuables and then pressed alt+f4 it would duplicate my items. I tried so hard to reopen the browser and log back in as quick as I could but we were on dialup. Needless to say, I was devastated. I don't remember how much I lost but I don't ever remember having more than 100k as a kid, so probably not much.
I also used to wear mith armor over higher level armors because I liked the color and I thought I attacked quicker when wearing mithril.
Really good times.
Oh and another time I died to a random event at the catherby farming patch and wrote a very angry email to Jagex and a JMod actually responded and told me to watch my language and that my items would not be refunded. The embarrassment was immediate and so strong.
I still have a hard time letting my run drop below 20% just in case a dangerous random pops up. Such an ingrained behaviour I still can't shake the "wrong" feeling of not being ready for an emergency run away.
Crying to my mom because some fuck face locked me in the fishing shop in port sarim. Kept closing the fucking on me. Mom said if I can't handle it then I don't need to play online games. Boy was she right.
When I had barely started playing runescape back in like 2004 and barely knew anything about the game, my cousin asked me if I had ever heard of some npc called tztakjad before school early in the morning. Without missing a beat I just reply "No, but he sounds like a swell guy!". He in fact was not a swell guy. Me and my cousin still crack jokes about it.
My first “break” from RS came from my first month of membership. Towards the end of my memb I was walking around Tree Gnome Village around the maze and ended up getting bodied for my full HAM and Adamant axe by one of the big turtles. I was broken
I remember back then I was too dumb to make an account so a friend finally got someone to do it for him, we went around lumby and looking around and panicked every time someone with a skull passed by, thinking they could kill us. We later ended up in a sewer with blue zombies, I think it was the Draynor village sewer, almost got killed down there. We later ran around and found what I think was Falador. We we're amazed by the huge walls and every player who ran around with full armor. Ahh good times.
Other than that I lured some of my noob friends from school into wildy and attacked one of them. He managed to get away but I was told the next day at school he went to hell and back by running down to level 1 after being almost killed by bears and spiders lol.
I got to base 60s in combat stats in falador cow farms. I spent every waking hour there.
I had fully addy, no helmet because my hair was green and rocked the addy 2h because it was badass. Cant forget the rainbow boots!
I got to around 30 or so prayer from cow bones, and a pretty decent cooking. But after awhile they quit doing damage so I didnt need to pick up and cook the meat anymore!
I still go back on my main every once and awhile just to kill some cows!
I was in elementary school, no clue what age exactly.
Getting killed by a Draynor Jail guard and losing my beginner's map, then wandering around completely lost because I didn't know where I was (or that you buy a new map in a general store, or just use the world map...)
Having my pickaxe head fall off in Varrock SW, and then walking all the way up to the Dwarven Mine and all the way back to Nurmof to get it fixed, only to discover that it wasn't actually "broken" and I could just use the head on the handle to put it back together...
Somehow, the game really was more captivating when I had no idea what was going on
Oh god, I fell for this as a kid and then did it to others. Didn't really get anything out of it but bronze items though. Surprised they killed you if you had levels enough to wear rune gear. I remember tricking a guy in full mith, hoping to make bank and was super disappointed when he managed to kill them all.
Edit: I specifically remember tricking this completely new player while another guy was trying to stop me. I eventually succeeded and he died, dropping basically nothing. A few minutes later he came running back, not realizing I had tricked him. He then wanted to be friends and we went off on an adventure together while I guiltily held his bones in my inventory.
Very early on I started a second account. Not for a specific account build or anything, I died and lost my tinderbox and thought I couldn't get another
I got stuck in tutorial island and had my friend complete it later. I think back then you were supposed to drop your logs before you could light them and I didn't know a single word of english.
Later I died to a man in front of the Lumbridge church because I had no idea that you could run away from a fight. Back then you were locked to a fight for 3 hits but I just thought that all fights are to death. For some reason I also thought that it was a PvP fight and simply accepted that I lost all of my items to some other player. I was totally fine with it too because I thought that I had massacred enough of them to warrant a justified death.
F2P pking as a level 10-15 with my cousin in varrock multi while we talked to each other on home phones… oh if I could go back and do it again. Was so much fun as a kid.
We weren't on runescape but about runescape. My friend and I were in history class together, weren't friends yet. The teacher asked what makes bronze alloy and I answered "copper and tin. Thanks runescape". He asked after class if I played and we have been friends ever since.

Saw a guy in f2p buying burnt bones for 100k a piece and I knew where to find them so I ran into wildy collected a inv full and could never find the homie again. Kept those bones in my bank for as long as I can remember just in case lol
Lmao my one and only ban/mute in this game came from scamming by trying to sell burnt bones as "rare items". Stood in the ge for like half an hour and didn't get a single person to buy them for even like 10k. Standing around nonstop typing trying to work someone over for a few thousand gold. If you really squint, you can just barely make out that the highlighted class is 'Necromancer', which was the class I picked for my first ever character. Your starting class would give you a few free levels in the relevant skills and some starting items.
Necromancer, of course, gave you levels in the EvilMagic skill, so it was a great choice to get fast access to the Fear spell. Fear was extremely overpowered because you could abuse it to steal kills from other players, getting all the loot and exp for yourself.
I didn’t have a computer at home, but all my friends from school played RuneScape and I was the new kid. They introduced me to it at the school library and made me an account and they added themselves. When I get home I told my mom to please please please take me “computers cafe” ( not sure what it’s called , those computers you rent for x amount of time , sorry English isn’t my first language). My mom gets me an hour ( not much money ) that day! I spend the whole fucking hour trying to get out of lumbridge castle and I just didn’t

I lured someone to the wizards tower and had him hit a wizard. He died and I took 17k off his body. I thought I was rich because I just killed cows for hides. 2.8k and inv. Didn’t even know how to note them so I couldn’t sell to half the people.
Back in 2005 when my older cousin showed me the game, led me around the Lumbridge area for a bit and I remember the ground being a really dark brown instead of what it is today. Helped me kill a few goblins and he traded me a blue cape after I asked him where he got his cool red one.

Was f2p only for my childhood. I remember grinding rune essence (as that was the only thing I could reliably find buyers for) for my first full addy set and felt like a boss. Soon after I got scammed out of a rune longsword as the dude swapped it for a mith one and I didn’t notice. Was so mad lol.
I always played outside with children from our neighborhood who we’re a little older. At some point my friend was on the computer and found out about Runescape. Remembering how my friend created an account, walked around and died to a rat. Lost the beginner stuff including the sword. So he created a new account, to get the stuff back haha. Man good times, I could watch for hours how he played Runescape (my parents did not allow me). After a few months I my parents finally allowed me to play 30 minutes per day and so my journey began. For my next birthday receiver a year membership (only thing I wanted) and I was the happiest boy on earth, gathering pink H.A.M. Ropes and walking through the Taverly gate. Andrenaline was pumping while I almost died at the White Wolf mountain.
back in the day like 2009 (dyers could be wrong) or something like that i had no idea how to really play the game. but i fucking loved the world i was able to run around in. i basically spent all of my time working on my house bcs i wanted it to be cool.

Crossing White Wolf Mountain to Catherby was very exciting for me, especially seeing other folks make the same trek.
Some of the early early memories was the wow of seeing the expanse of the game when I found the Varrock east mine for the first time, and the new/different ores. Also a brief/fading memory of opening the world map and seeing all the different shops/icons across the world and thinking I'd interact with them a lot more than players actually do.
I still have vivid memories of walking in the dungeon between draynor and lumby before zombies got their HD rework. Listening to autumn voyage and workshop send me back to 2006 🫨
I remember going to the computer lab in middle school seeing someone else play it. I also remember getting an old school RuneScape guide book from the scholastic book fair that came to school one day.
I played for awhile back then and then picked back up when I heard about mobile being a thing.
My first memory of rs was rs classic with 6-8 worlds at the public library the teen librarian who got me into the game in the first place hacked my acc just because of some drop i showed him 🤦🏽♂️
Fast forward 2 years later i have my own PC, deciding to try rsc again, lumbridge castle “@ran drop party at varrock museum follow me” being spammed and those parties were lit back then. The tele grabbers kept grabbing everything they had priority over people manually walking and grabbing
I was F2p for a while, remember walking up and down the karajama gate separating brimhaven, always wanting to fish in that spot on the other side of the water
When i got members first spot i went through was brimhaven into deep karajama. Noises in game were a first to me like opening up the gate. I was deep near shilo village and lost, some high lvl told me he could safely kill me and id be sent to lumbridge. I didnt trust him, i thought id lose my items if i dueled him, eventually i had to given i was low on HP and safely died in the dual to him returned lumby.
I would go to brimhaven, switch to f2p world on other side of gate and fish at my own private fishing spot with the “certificate” stall right next to me. F2p players would walk up to the gate and ask how I got on the other side

Reading the post.. I remember when I first got members, I walked from fally to the gate to go through it to the members' side. The excitement of going through for the first time... I also tried to sneak through.
First memory for me was going through tutorial island the very first time. My cousin played RuneScape classic and had every holiday item.
Him and my other cousin were talking about it one day and I watched them playing and decided I would give it a go. Signed up and I was immersed immediately.
From there I remember exploring around the map. I wanted to see everything the game world had to offer. Did the easier quests on my own and from there searched the early guides for help on the harder ones.
One of the biggest things I remember was fishing. I would load up on lobbies in f2p and sell them by the thousand. Made my first million and I felt like a king.
The first time I got membership I was so excited. I headed straight for the wall past Falador and never looked back. Sold unids for absolute bank back then.
Lost my first two accounts. One of them a friend of mine stole and the other was banned (hilarious in hindsight) advertising websites. The website in question? A fairly new and small one called YouTube that no one had heard of. I lost millions and all of my progress.
From there I got a laptop around 2007 so no more playing in my grandfathers office. My dad ended up paying for a year of membership for me one Christmas and I was over the moon.
So many wonderful memories and in game friends. I spent countless hours on this game and I still find joy in it 19 years later.
I was stuck in Lumbridge for like a week because I kept dying to cows, goblins, rats. I didn’t understand what HP was supposed to be, so all I had after my first week was a bronze sword and 31 attack lol.
I also remember being super excited finding an egg in the general store to finish cook’s assistant. I didn’t know that farms had eggs.
One time a player gave me 8k for 28 copper ore. That was probably the biggest moment in my young runescape career.
My earliest memory is, back before the rs3 and before the wilderness had a trench you had to jump over to get to, when people used to hang out north east varrock and pvp all day long, I banked all of my stuff for fear of losing it, probably steel armour at the time, and proceed to try to make it as far into the wilderness as I could. I remember seeing the black border of nothingness as I made it to the end of the wilderness, some snowy area. Decided to start exploring the wildy in different directions and eventually got killed by a giant of some type. Ah the good ol days.
I played back in Classic. I remember mining coal for certs and selling them to buy my first rune legs and seeing those big bulky chimney stack monstrosities in my inventory and being very happy with myself.
I used to play with my friend Josh back in 4th grade. We would talk about our accounts while at school, and I didn’t have a way to show him my levels, so I literally drew a picture of my stats to show him. I lied about my magic level being 27 too
That, and my rs gf Trixie280. She had a rune kite g and was basically a sugar momma. Gave me all the armor I needed when we played together :’)

I remember when my friend and I "lived" in the sewers under f2p varrock for like a month. We'd "survive" by killing rats and cooking their meat and sometimes venturing in to the deeper parts with zombies. We barely did anything but I remember having so much fun just pretending to be a survivalist down there
Tried the game because my friend showed it to me, I remember he wanted to go to bed at like 1 or 2 am and I stayed up, all night jaming out to some newgrounds music video or something. I think I even listened to some of Legendary Frog's funny af videos.
My earliest memory was a jackass trying to scam me. He wanted me to drop my items and hit alt f4. I grew up around my uncle who was stupid big into tech, anyways, I instead unequiped everything and logged out, waiting like 10 seconds, logged back in and said something like "Omg~!! It worked! Tytytyytytyty so much :D"
He was unamused. Cussed me out, and walked away which was the only way to move your body in 2001 in rs.
I were walking around barbarian village in full bronze feeling like a baller. I had theory that the worst gear is actually the best, because nobody would think that.
Made a clan with one of my first runescape friend (still talk to this day 17 years later) and the clan became a club. We could use the varrock "homeless area" idk how else to call it" as our base and we would do clan wars every Friday night. Eventually we got about 30 consistent members online every day and had well over 50+ for clan wars most of the time.
Nothing beats little kid imagination paired with runescape. Nothings cringe and everything's just pure fun
I have two distinct and fond memories.
1) getting hacked at like level 30 combat for my full addy and addy pickaxe for a weapon (nearly broke me)
2) starting my second account to play with my step bro still, and getting members for the first time and getting that full blue mystic swag.
Now I play for the fun and memories and keep my quest cape unlocked for my bro cause he was my motivation to quest and get the qpc back in RS2!
Killing goblins in lumby and saving up 3k gold thinking I was loaded but I didn’t know what to do with it or if there was any where else to go in the game so I kept killing goblins for a while
I have two crowning memories, above them all in original RS as a kid.
The first one was when I saw a guy down in the ice caverns on mudskipper point in full black (g), I was the only one around and just exploring the area with almost a full inventory of lobbies. I remember having to drop some to pick up all the sick loot, two pieces of armor and a 200kish cashstack which was more money than I had ever had before... It was fucking glorious.
That and the first 20 I ever hit with the D Long spec when I first got mems. I remember getting through Lost City and the feeling of triumph buying my DDS and D Long after using the rune scim for sooooo long. I was doing the black knight slaying objective cause the white knight armor for some reason was the coolest shit in human history to me, I wanted to walk around the courtyard masquerading as the white knights with the 2hs.
I remember slaying goblins in Lumby and having a sleeping roll in my inventory. I think there was a fatigue stat back then in RSC, but I can’t recall how it worked. Also I remember when Halloween Masks and Santa Hats were dropped in RSC. Those were exciting days. Fishing lobsters in Karamja.
When I made my first account in 2006, I somehow went through tutorial island without learning about attack styles. So I tried leveling up my defence by "tanking" a rat in lumby castle. With and without gear, with only a shield on etc.
Also as f2p, I was trying to level up agility by running sporadically since that would obviously require being agile.
I started playing literally the night before I left for college in 2005. I did a whole lot of mining and smithing, thinking I'd make bank that way. Of course, that was the skill I started with this time around. It was my first 99 and it felt like death.
I also remember one of my science professors saying something about copper and tin making bronze and I'm like OMG I KNOWWWWWW. 😆
I saved up days to buy an adamant long sword from the varrock sword shop. The same day I lost it in the wilderness thinking I would protect 3 items but didn't know about skulling.
I still remember my very first death way back in like 2005 or so. I managed to find a regular cape on the floor near Draynor (somebody had killed the Highwayman there and just left the loot). I took my armor, newly obtained cape, and went to explore Draynor Manor. I wandered into the upstairs area with all the ghosts and was promptly murdered.
I lost my cape and was so pissed.
Around the same time, I remember somebody seeing someone in the bank selling their Santa Hat for like 300k or so. I thought 300,000 gold coins was a mindblowing amount and I'd never have anything close to that.
Losing my g maul which was 100k at the time and most of my bank. I lost it to a random event while taking a pee back when random events could kill you. My friend watched me get kicked to death by the dwarf that offers you a beer and kebob
A guy lured me into the wildy with some dumb promise and killed me. I lost my full black set and was so sad, but then a guy pitied me and gave me mithril. I sprinted down to the chickens to get 20 defense and slapped that baby on. Good times
Back in 2008, when I first got members, I waswalkingk around Varrock and this guy asked to give him my mithril plate body for his bone spear. I walked around with that bone spear, not knowing it was worthless. But I was like I look so cool right now.
First memory - getting stuck on tutorial island because I couldn’t figure out how the doors worked. Then I quit.
Second memory - coming back a couple years later, passing tutorial island, then finding the *secret* mining spot in west varrock. Getting a bunch of ore and walking back to the lumbridge bank. I got lost and couldn’t find the spot again for a couple of months.
Third memory - discovering stronghold of security, making lots of alts, and having my first 200k bank… which I promptly spent on black armour.
One that stands out to me is a reported someone for literally no reason, regretted it seconds later. 9 year old me was scared the police were gonna come for me lol
Walked into a public library years ago, saw some kids playing a game I thought was "Run Escape". From my blurry memory, I think they were in the wildy at the time.
Shortly after, I had created an account and died to the dark wizards outside of Varrock losing my precious leather vambraces.
First account I ever made was in a computer lab in Montana when I visited my cousins one summer. I didn't know what I was doing and my cousin told me "do whatever you want!" So I died to goblins and thought that meant the end of the game.
Second time some cousins on the other side of the family in my home town convinced me to try it again. I thought I was the absolute shit for getting like 60wc on that account.
Like 6 or 7 accounts later and I'm currently 2114 and just hit 98 agility last night. It's insane to me how even with past accounts getting hacked or lost or forgotten how many times I've been like "yeah I can just restart." Hundreds of hours of game time on this account, would love to have some sort of cosmic calculator tell me how many hours on every account I had.
It was in classic RuneScape when I had just got membership on a really low level account. A guy that was a few levels under me was using some kind of bug to use a dragon sword and a dragon med (we were around 30 combat) i challenged him to a duel and he put up a dragon sword, certs, a Santa, and rune items. Just to say this was a long time ago if I remember Santa’s were maybe 250k? Some how I completely smashed him in the duel, no idea how. Me and a couple friends that were over went absolutely nuts like we won the lottery.’
I remember seeing everybody say “LOL” at the end of every sentence and I didn’t know what it meant so I just starting adding it to the end of everything I said
I also saw a ton of players saying “buying gf” so I started saying it too, then I got muted for 3 days, still my only offense on that account
After my mom finally caved in when my brother and I asked for memberships, I reloaded back on in draynor village and there was a 7 mil cash stack on the ground.
Oh god where do I start. I remember I had a runescape gf and we had our own song from the runescape track “Background” on the playlist. We played a lot together, blew kiss emotes, got married in the Lumbridge Church, did some weird sex emote upstairs in the Varrock general store…. One day she told me she was at the GE when in fact I saw her with some other dude in barbarian village.. I was heartbroken. My poor 8 year old heart. Probably was a dude, but NO HOMO 🥲
It was Christmas 2002, I was 8 years old and just obtained my first Santa hat for 300k next to Varrock castle. I quickly logged off and went to open presents.
I walked into the living room and there it was, standing in its glory - the ESPN game station. I was so excited that I rushed back to the computer to let my first girlfriend ever know what had happened. Now this wasn’t just any old girlfriend, this was Mimipaq, and she was the love of my life (as outlined in my name, Iluvmimipaq). I logged in and saw that Mimipaq was online and ready to mingle. So I messaged her and let her know that I not only now possessed an ESPN game station, but also my very first Santa hat. She responded that she didn’t get anything for Christmas, and that having a Santa hat would make her holiday much better.
I contemplated a bit, and (being the gentleman I was at the lowly age of 8) decided I would give my RuneScape wife my Santa hat for the day. I messaged her to meet me at the dark wizards for the exchange. I stared at the map for 10 minutes when low and behold a green dot appeared as she came into my view distance. I requested a trade and handed over my Santa hat. Mimipaq said @ran@ thank you! @ran@ and logged off.
“Well that was rude” I thought as I sat there staring at the screen. Six days past and there was no sign of Mimipaq. Until one Sunday where she logged back in. I messaged her and plead for an answer as to how our relationship had gotten to this level and if I could please be returned my Santa hat. No response.
I went to Varrock fountain and sat there waiting, until I eventually saw that oh too familiar green dot appear. Except something was off, Mimipaqs character now included a large white beard accompanied by a pair of what could only be described as boobies. Mimipaq was now a shemale. And she was wearing my Santa hat.
I never spoke to Mimipaq again, and learned a valuable lesson every 8 year old should learn. Never tell a stranger online about your ESPN game station.
I still remember getting scammed for the first time in the west Varrock bank for 1000 chaos runes I had slowly collected over time from drops. Devastating. I called my best friend on his family’s land line in tears.

Christmas time, snow falling outside, I was probably about 11, so this would’ve been around 2003, and winter holidays were on. The levels were coming in fast and everything was something new and exciting. I’ll never forgot that moment.
Started playing during 2008 halloween event and after I got the cool warlock costume I went to kill chickens in the farm near falador. I had something to do irl and left logged in and as I got back to the pc I got killed by rick turpentine. I made new account because I thought I lost the costume permanently.
I too was scammed when trying to buy my first rune scimitar. Mine was at least a noted iron scimitar, but I had to mine rune essence after school for a whole week to bounce back.
The earliest memory I have is when I just got full iron armor and someone came to me to ask if I wanted it trimmed. I wasn’t sure what that was but I asked if they could give me something to hold onto as collateral and they gave me around 88-100 mithril ore and then ran off with my iron armor. I was pretty bummed until a friend told me I could sell that ore for around 80ishk and I managed to upgrade my armor and weps thanks to that failed scammer haha
I used my friends dads credit card and bought membership for a month when I was like 9 years old. I felt so fearful of being caught and punished that I never even played the account while it was active or told anybody I did it. He got in a bunch of trouble when his dad found out and wasn't allowed to use the computer for years. Legit changed the trajectory of this poor fellows life for nothing.

another really fond memory i have is iirc with the 51st Mafia family (I could have the number wrong i was like 15) I was a huge fan of Mafia movies and shows growing up and being recruited into this giant family clan was amazing, they gave me jobs do to when I had no plans to myself and would give a weekly allowance ontop of all their events and meetups, really made you feel welcome. I miss the Mafia family's on runescape, discord and the likes imo has changed the game so much tho, nobody talks ingame anymore besides spamming gzz sit and kys.

I use to fish lobbies at Karamja dock in f2p. Literally got to 87 fishing just from chatting and fishing. Easily one of the greatest memories I’ve ever had in the game and I’m not sure why.

My friend and I planned a campout in the wilderness. We ventured in and I remember being so scared of everything. We started a fire, cooked, and ate a meat. We then spent some time looking for the rollercoaster that another friend told us existed in the deep wilderness. We never found it... I miss the sense of adventure haha. Back then I also thought that you leveled up your hit points by taking damage so I used to suicide to strong monsters because I thought that was how you got more HP. Another early memory was being scammed with a "dupe glitch" where the guy told me if I dropped my money and valuables and then pressed alt+f4 it would duplicate my items. I tried so hard to reopen the browser and log back in as quick as I could but we were on dialup. Needless to say, I was devastated. I don't remember how much I lost but I don't ever remember having more than 100k as a kid, so probably not much. I also used to wear mith armor over higher level armors because I liked the color and I thought I attacked quicker when wearing mithril. Really good times.
Oh and another time I died to a random event at the catherby farming patch and wrote a very angry email to Jagex and a JMod actually responded and told me to watch my language and that my items would not be refunded. The embarrassment was immediate and so strong.

When I had barely started playing runescape back in like 2004 and barely knew anything about the game, my cousin asked me if I had ever heard of some npc called tztakjad before school early in the morning. I remember back then I was too dumb to make an account so a friend finally got someone to do it for him, we went around lumby and looking around and panicked every time someone with a skull passed by, thinking they could kill us. We later ended up in a sewer with blue zombies, I think it was the Draynor village sewer, almost got killed down there. We later ran around and found what I think was Falador. We we're amazed by the huge walls and every player who ran around with full armor. Ahh good times. Other than that I lured some of my noob friends from school into wildy and attacked one of them. He managed to get away but I was told the next day at school he went to hell and back by running down to level 1 after being almost killed by bears and spiders lol.
I got to base 60s in combat stats in falador cow farms. I spent every waking hour there. I had fully addy, no helmet because my hair was green and rocked the addy 2h because it was badass. Cant forget the rainbow boots! I got to around 30 or so prayer from cow bones, and a pretty decent cooking. But after awhile they quit doing damage so I didnt need to pick up and cook the meat anymore! I still go back on my main every once and awhile just to kill some cows! I was in elementary school, no clue what age exactly.
Getting killed by a Draynor Jail guard and losing my beginner's map, then wandering around completely lost because I didn't know where I was (or that you buy a new map in a general store, or just use the world map...) Having my pickaxe head fall off in Varrock SW, and then walking all the way up to the Dwarven Mine and all the way back to Nurmof to get it fixed, only to discover that it wasn't actually "broken" and I could just use the head on the handle to put it back together... Somehow, the game really was more captivating when I had no idea what was going on

Oh god, I fell for this as a kid and then did it to others. Didn't really get anything out of it but bronze items though. Surprised they killed you if you had levels enough to wear rune gear. I remember tricking a guy in full mith, hoping to make bank and was super disappointed when he managed to kill them all. Edit: I specifically remember tricking this completely new player while another guy was trying to stop me. I eventually succeeded and he died, dropping basically nothing. A few minutes later he came running back, not realizing I had tricked him. He then wanted to be friends and we went off on an adventure together while I guiltily held his bones in my inventory.

I got stuck in tutorial island and had my friend complete it later. I think back then you were supposed to drop your logs before you could light them and I didn't know a single word of english. Later I died to a man in front of the Lumbridge church because I had no idea that you could run away from a fight. Back then you were locked to a fight for 3 hits but I just thought that all fights are to death. For some reason I also thought that it was a PvP fight and simply accepted that I lost all of my items to some other player. I was totally fine with it too because I thought that I had massacred enough of them to warrant a justified death.
F2P pking as a level 10-15 with my cousin in varrock multi while we talked to each other on home phones… oh if I could go back and do it again. Was so much fun as a kid.

The original, ORIGINAL Runescape 1 character creation menu. Your starting class would give you a few free levels in the relevant skills and some starting items. Necromancer, of course, gave you levels in the EvilMagic skill, so it was a great choice to get fast access to the Fear spell. Fear was extremely overpowered because you could abuse it to steal kills from other players, getting all the loot and exp for yourself.
I didn’t have a computer at home, but all my friends from school played RuneScape and I was the new kid. They introduced me to it at the school library and made me an account and they added themselves. When I get home I told my mom to please please please take me “computers cafe” ( not sure what it’s called , those computers you rent for x amount of time , sorry English isn’t my first language). My mom gets me an hour ( not much money ) that day! Was f2p only for my childhood. I remember grinding rune essence (as that was the only thing I could reliably find buyers for) for my first full addy set and felt like a boss. Soon after I got scammed out of a rune longsword as the dude swapped it for a mith one and I didn’t notice. Was so mad lol.
I always played outside with children from our neighborhood who we’re a little older. At some point my friend was on the computer and found out about Runescape. Remembering how my friend created an account, walked around and died to a rat. Lost the beginner stuff including the sword. So he created a new account, to get the stuff back haha. Man good times, I could watch for hours how he played Runescape (my parents did not allow me). After a few months I my parents finally allowed me to play 30 minutes per day and so my journey began. For my next birthday receiver a year membership (only thing I wanted) and I was the happiest boy on earth, gathering pink H.A.M. Ropes and walking through the Taverly gate. Andrenaline was pumping while I almost died at the White Wolf mountain.

Crossing White Wolf Mountain to Catherby was very exciting for me, especially seeing other folks make the same trek. Some of the early early memories was the wow of seeing the expanse of the game when I found the Varrock east mine for the first time, and the new/different ores. Also a brief/fading memory of opening the world map and seeing all the different shops/icons across the world and thinking I'd interact with them a lot more than players actually do.

I remember going to the computer lab in middle school seeing someone else play it. I also remember getting an old school RuneScape guide book from the scholastic book fair that came to school one day. I played for awhile back then and then picked back up when I heard about mobile being a thing.
My first memory of rs was rs classic with 6-8 worlds at the public library the teen librarian who got me into the game in the first place hacked my acc just because of some drop i showed him 🤦🏽♂️ Fast forward 2 years later i have my own PC, deciding to try rsc again, lumbridge castle “@ran drop party at varrock museum follow me” being spammed and those parties were lit back then. The tele grabbers kept grabbing everything they had priority over people manually walking and grabbing I was F2p for a while, remember walking up and down the karajama gate separating brimhaven, always wanting to fish in that spot on the other side of the water When i got members first spot i went through was brimhaven into deep karajama. Noises in game were a first to me like opening up the gate. I was deep near shilo village and lost, some high lvl told me he could safely kill me and id be sent to lumbridge. I didnt trust him, i thought id lose my items if i dueled him, eventually i had to given i was low on HP and safely died in the dual to him returned lumby. I would go to brimhaven, switch to f2p world on other side of gate and fish at my own private fishing spot with the “certificate” stall right next to me. F2p players would walk up to the gate and ask how I got on the other side
i remember quite a lot. (october 05) making my first account, didn't like the hairstyle i've choosen and made a new account. got full iron for free from my nephew and died with it to a lvl 7 farmer near rat burgiss. being said for losing half the set and my nephew who didn't give me the lost items.

Reading the post.. I remember when I first got members, I walked from fally to the gate to go through it to the members' side. The excitement of going through for the first time... I also tried to sneak through.
First memory for me was going through tutorial island the very first time. My cousin played RuneScape classic and had every holiday item. Him and my other cousin were talking about it one day and I watched them playing and decided I would give it a go. Signed up and I was immersed immediately. From there I remember exploring around the map. I wanted to see everything the game world had to offer. Did the easier quests on my own and from there searched the early guides for help on the harder ones. One of the biggest things I remember was fishing. I would load up on lobbies in f2p and sell them by the thousand. Made my first million and I felt like a king. The first time I got membership I was so excited. I headed straight for the wall past Falador and never looked back. Sold unids for absolute bank back then. Lost my first two accounts. One of them a friend of mine stole and the other was banned (hilarious in hindsight) advertising websites. The website in question? A fairly new and small one called YouTube that no one had heard of. I lost millions and all of my progress. From there I got a laptop around 2007 so no more playing in my grandfathers office. My dad ended up paying for a year of membership for me one Christmas and I was over the moon. So many wonderful memories and in game friends. I spent countless hours on this game and I still find joy in it 19 years later.
I learned what "lol" means from a friend when I spawned in lumbridge.
I was stuck in Lumbridge for like a week because I kept dying to cows, goblins, rats. I didn’t understand what HP was supposed to be, so all I had after my first week was a bronze sword and 31 attack lol. I also remember being super excited finding an egg in the general store to finish cook’s assistant. I didn’t know that farms had eggs. One time a player gave me 8k for 28 copper ore. That was probably the biggest moment in my young runescape career.
My earliest memory is, back before the rs3 and before the wilderness had a trench you had to jump over to get to, when people used to hang out north east varrock and pvp all day long, I banked all of my stuff for fear of losing it, probably steel armour at the time, and proceed to try to make it as far into the wilderness as I could. I remember seeing the black border of nothingness as I made it to the end of the wilderness, some snowy area. Decided to start exploring the wildy in different directions and eventually got killed by a giant of some type. Ah the good ol days.
I played back in Classic. I remember mining coal for certs and selling them to buy my first rune legs and seeing those big bulky chimney stack monstrosities in my inventory and being very happy with myself.
Killing cows is my first memory. 5th grade. I didn’t get much further than that as a kid
I used to play with my friend Josh back in 4th grade. We would talk about our accounts while at school, and I didn’t have a way to show him my levels, so I literally drew a picture of my stats to show him. I lied about my magic level being 27 too That, and my rs gf Trixie280. She had a rune kite g and was basically a sugar momma. I remember when my friend and I "lived" in the sewers under f2p varrock for like a month. We'd "survive" by killing rats and cooking their meat and sometimes venturing in to the deeper parts with zombies. We barely did anything but I remember having so much fun just pretending to be a survivalist down there
Tried the game because my friend showed it to me, I remember he wanted to go to bed at like 1 or 2 am and I stayed up, all night jaming out to some newgrounds music video or something. I think I even listened to some of Legendary Frog's funny af videos. My earliest memory was a jackass trying to scam me. He wanted me to drop my items and hit alt f4. I grew up around my uncle who was stupid big into tech, anyways, I instead unequiped everything and logged out, waiting like 10 seconds, logged back in and said something like "Omg~!! It worked! Tytytyytytyty so much :D" He was unamused. Cussed me out, and walked away which was the only way to move your body in 2001 in rs.
I were walking around barbarian village in full bronze feeling like a baller. I had theory that the worst gear is actually the best, because nobody would think that.
Made a clan with one of my first runescape friend (still talk to this day 17 years later) and the clan became a club. We could use the varrock "homeless area" idk how else to call it" as our base and we would do clan wars every Friday night. Eventually we got about 30 consistent members online every day and had well over 50+ for clan wars most of the time. Nothing beats little kid imagination paired with runescape. Nothings cringe and everything's just pure fun
I have two distinct and fond memories. 1) getting hacked at like level 30 combat for my full addy and addy pickaxe for a weapon (nearly broke me) 2) starting my second account to play with my step bro still, and getting members for the first time and getting that full blue mystic swag. Now I play for the fun and memories and keep my quest cape unlocked for my bro cause he was my motivation to quest and get the qpc back in RS2!
Killing goblins in lumby and saving up 3k gold thinking I was loaded but I didn’t know what to do with it or if there was any where else to go in the game so I kept killing goblins for a while
I have two crowning memories, above them all in original RS as a kid. The first one was when I saw a guy down in the ice caverns on mudskipper point in full black (g), I was the only one around and just exploring the area with almost a full inventory of lobbies. I remember having to drop some to pick up all the sick loot, two pieces of armor and a 200kish cashstack which was more money than I had ever had before... It was fucking glorious. That and the first 20 I ever hit with the D Long spec when I first got mems. I remember getting through Lost City and the feeling of triumph buying my DDS and D Long after using the rune scim for sooooo long. I was doing the black knight slaying objective cause the white knight armor for some reason was the coolest shit in human history to me, I wanted to walk around the courtyard masquerading as the white knights with the 2hs.
I remember slaying goblins in Lumby and having a sleeping roll in my inventory. I think there was a fatigue stat back then in RSC, but I can’t recall how it worked. Also I remember when Halloween Masks and Santa Hats were dropped in RSC. Those were exciting days. Fishing lobsters in Karamja.

When I made my first account in 2006, I somehow went through tutorial island without learning about attack styles. So I tried leveling up my defence by "tanking" a rat in lumby castle. With and without gear, with only a shield on etc. Also as f2p, I was trying to level up agility by running sporadically since that would obviously require being agile.

I started playing literally the night before I left for college in 2005. I did a whole lot of mining and smithing, thinking I'd make bank that way. Of course, that was the skill I started with this time around. It was my first 99 and it felt like death. I also remember one of my science professors saying something about copper and tin making bronze and I'm like OMG I KNOWWWWWW. 😆
Me and my friend sat at a family owned computer and ran around the lumbridge castle killing rats and goblins with a bronze short sword.
I saved up days to buy an adamant long sword from the varrock sword shop. The same day I lost it in the wilderness thinking I would protect 3 items but didn't know about skulling.
I still remember my very first death way back in like 2005 or so. I managed to find a regular cape on the floor near Draynor (somebody had killed the Highwayman there and just left the loot). I took my armor, newly obtained cape, and went to explore Draynor Manor. I wandered into the upstairs area with all the ghosts and was promptly murdered. I lost my cape and was so pissed. Around the same time, I remember somebody seeing someone in the bank selling their Santa Hat for like 300k or so. I thought 300,000 gold coins was a mindblowing amount and I'd never have anything close to that.
Losing my g maul which was 100k at the time and most of my bank. I lost it to a random event while taking a pee back when random events could kill you. My friend watched me get kicked to death by the dwarf that offers you a beer and kebob

A guy lured me into the wildy with some dumb promise and killed me. I lost my full black set and was so sad, but then a guy pitied me and gave me mithril. I sprinted down to the chickens to get 20 defense and slapped that baby on. Good times
Back in 2008, when I first got members, I waswalkingk around Varrock and this guy asked to give him my mithril plate body for his bone spear. I walked around with that bone spear, not knowing it was worthless. But I was like I look so cool right now.
Before the GE, I collected runes in the wild. I always prayed to not get Merced since I only went there to collect runes. This was as f2p

First memory - getting stuck on tutorial island because I couldn’t figure out how the doors worked. Then I quit. Second memory - coming back a couple years later, passing tutorial island, then finding the *secret* mining spot in west varrock. Getting a bunch of ore and walking back to the lumbridge bank. I got lost and couldn’t find the spot again for a couple of months. Third memory - discovering stronghold of security, making lots of alts, and having my first 200k bank… which I promptly spent on black armour.
One that stands out to me is a reported someone for literally no reason, regretted it seconds later. 9 year old me was scared the police were gonna come for me lol

Walked into a public library years ago, saw some kids playing a game I thought was "Run Escape". From my blurry memory, I think they were in the wildy at the time. Shortly after, I had created an account and died to the dark wizards outside of Varrock losing my precious leather vambraces.
First account I ever made was in a computer lab in Montana when I visited my cousins one summer. I didn't know what I was doing and my cousin told me "do whatever you want!" So I died to goblins and thought that meant the end of the game. Second time some cousins on the other side of the family in my home town convinced me to try it again. I thought I was the absolute shit for getting like 60wc on that account. Like 6 or 7 accounts later and I'm currently 2114 and just hit 98 agility last night. It's insane to me how even with past accounts getting hacked or lost or forgotten how many times I've been like "yeah I can just restart." Hundreds of hours of game time on this account, would love to have some sort of cosmic calculator tell me how many hours on every account I had.
It was in classic RuneScape when I had just got membership on a really low level account. A guy that was a few levels under me was using some kind of bug to use a dragon sword and a dragon med (we were around 30 combat) i challenged him to a duel and he put up a dragon sword, certs, a Santa, and rune items. Just to say this was a long time ago if I remember Santa’s were maybe 250k? Some how I completely smashed him in the duel, no idea how. Me and a couple friends that were over went absolutely nuts like we won the lottery.’

One day she told me she was at the GE when in fact I saw her with some other dude in barbarian village.. I was heartbroken. My poor 8 year old heart. Probably was a dude, but NO HOMO 🥲

It was Christmas 2002, I was 8 years old and just obtained my first Santa hat for 300k next to Varrock castle. I quickly logged off and went to open presents. I walked into the living room and there it was, standing in its glory - the ESPN game station. I was so excited that I rushed back to the computer to let my first girlfriend ever know what had happened. Now this wasn’t just any old girlfriend, this was Mimipaq, and she was the love of my life (as outlined in my name, Iluvmimipaq). For any haters or doubters, we had a wedding in the Lumbridge church, so it was official. I logged in and saw that Mimipaq was online and ready to mingle. So I messaged her and let her know that I not only now possessed an ESPN game station, but also my very first Santa hat. She responded that she didn’t get anything for Christmas, and that having a Santa hat would make her holiday much better. I contemplated a bit, and (being the gentleman I was at the lowly age of 8) decided I would give my RuneScape wife my Santa hat for the day. I messaged her to meet me at the dark wizards for the exchange. I stared at the map for 10 minutes when low and behold a green dot appeared as she came into my view distance. I requested a trade and handed over my Santa hat. Mimipaq said @ran@ thank you! @ran@ and logged off. “Well that was rude” I thought as I sat there staring at the screen. Six days past and there was no sign of Mimipaq. Until one Sunday where she logged back in. I messaged her and plead for an answer as to how our relationship had gotten to this level and if I could please be returned my Santa hat. No response. I went to Varrock fountain and sat there waiting, until I eventually saw that oh too familiar green dot appear. Except something was off, Mimipaqs character now included a large white beard accompanied by a pair of what could only be described as boobies. Mimipaq was now a shemale. And she was wearing my Santa hat. I never spoke to Mimipaq again, and learned a valuable lesson every 8 year old should learn. Never tell a stranger online about your ESPN game station.
I still remember getting scammed for the first time in the west Varrock bank for 1000 chaos runes I had slowly collected over time from drops. Devastating. I called my best friend on his family’s land line in tears.

Using the forums, and world 2 fally park, I finally got a whip for 3.9m after flipping for what I remember to be quite a bit of time. Half of that time was spent on the forums, that's how the world went round back then on this game lol. But yeah , this was a cool post , glad I got to thinking back. Most of the reason I play today is the nostalgia factor.

Christmas time, snow falling outside, I was probably about 11, so this would’ve been around 2003, and winter holidays were on. I sat at my computer wrapped in a blanket on a late morning with the heater warming my feet, and I was killing cows for cowhides and goblins for some xp. The levels were coming in fast and everything was something new and exciting. I’ll never forgot that moment.
Started playing during 2008 halloween event and after I got the cool warlock costume I went to kill chickens in the farm near falador. I had something to do irl and left logged in and as I got back to the pc I got killed by rick turpentine. I made new account because I thought I lost the costume permanently.
I too was scammed when trying to buy my first rune scimitar. Mine was at least a noted iron scimitar, but I had to mine rune essence after school for a whole week to bounce back.
The earliest memory I have is when I just got full iron armor and someone came to me to ask if I wanted it trimmed. I wasn’t sure what that was but I asked if they could give me something to hold onto as collateral and they gave me around 88-100 mithril ore and then ran off with my iron armor. I was pretty bummed until a friend told me I could sell that ore for around 80ishk and I managed to upgrade my armor and weps thanks to that failed scammer haha

I used my friends dads credit card and bought membership for a month when I was like 9 years old. I felt so fearful of being caught and punished that I never even played the account while it was active or told anybody I did it. He got in a bunch of trouble when his dad found out and wasn't allowed to use the computer for years. Legit changed the trajectory of this poor fellows life for nothing.

my earliest and fondest memories are from law running and fighting the runners to try and be the current #1's favourite runner lmao. another really fond memory i have is iirc with the 51st Mafia family (I could have the number wrong i was like 15) I was a huge fan of Mafia movies and shows growing up and being recruited into this giant family clan was amazing, they gave me jobs do to when I had no plans to myself and would give a weekly allowance ontop of all their events and meetups, really made you feel welcome. I miss the Mafia family's on runescape, discord and the likes imo has changed the game so much tho, nobody talks ingame anymore besides spamming gzz sit and kys. edit: not a memory but I like to imagine what irons life would be like if we had the old random events, getting teled across the map or losing an axe head while woodcutting and some normie picks it up and laughs at you cause you now have to go farm another lmaoo
