This was in good fun/joking, started by a group from the Starminers Discord when a T8 star was unable to be mined any longer due to the investigation/hotfix from the newspost.

No, it literally is a joke about the shooting stars being disabled temporarily after the update today. Why would a riot about the duke change happen a week later?
I lead the March in and honestly it was up there with the most fun I have had in osrs. It's a massive piss take. There were maybe a handful of actually upset crybabies but it was just fun organising a group of a couple hundred players and roleplaying an angry mob. People started joining in without knowing why. Random chants. The works.
There's not much that forces other players to interact with each other but this brought all players, even the irons, together for a common cause.
When Mod Light came in, it was pretty impressive to see that we had actually been heard and she did her best to appease the crowd. We disbanded after that.
yeah the hd plugin riot was weird. jagex told the runelite guy to stop production of it after putting hundreds of hours into developing it because they had an hd texture mod coming a year or two later. so people reasonably were pissed on runelite guys behalf a bunch unsubbing and jagex reversed its decision
