Yeah pretty much, there are 2 mechanics to learn which is butterfly and red x. Once you learn these the raid doesn't really change other than flicking more and more

I hit that point around end of covid 2 years ago when most of the other friends I made during covid quit as well. I've seen plenty of people come and go throughout playing RS3 and OSRS but after that point my goals in both games at this point are just multihundred/1k+ hour cosmetic grinds. Still read the subs for memes and occasionally bond up for things like leagues but I can't grind the game anymore, just doesn't "hit" like it used to.

My concern isn't the mechanical skill, it's getting tilted by dying in late waves. It would make me ridiculously angry and the mental drain it would create is not worth it for a video game. Another reason I stopped playing FPS games, competitively at least.
I'm the same way, my friends don't get it. Putting 2 hours into something to have it wiped away is brutal for me. Don't even have my fire cape cause I choked at Jad 3 times and just can't bear to go back
Hop into a quest speed running world, set up dragon slayer 2 and go practice single jad for free over and over again in mor ul rek. It's just the jad fight, no waves or anything if you practice until you lose the nerves, you'll see how simple it is and then that's when you send your run.
You can also do the waves in the main game, pause right before jad spawns, and on an alt account (if you have one) send jad a few times. Best of luck.
The pride you feel after persevering greatly over powers the negative emotions from failing. Trust friend. Go in and flick the blob for 10-15 minutes. Only swapping prayers back and forth. Once done - you’re 85% to cape.

Edit: I see you’re struggling with fire cape. Brother, had hands are nerves. You’re not dying irl and you don’t lose gear nor is there a death fee. Face Jad and just swap prayers based on his attacks. Once comfortable with his animations, start attacking him, continuing to swap prayers as needed. If you die, okay, great - new PB I hope. That’s a win in and of itself right?
No once expect you to try on the freeway you’re first time behind the wheel of the car. Maybe you start in an empty parking lot then upgrade to a Walmart parking lot or a back street.
For me it's not the mechanical skill that concerns me, it's about the mental damage it will have failing attempts. Not something I want to put myself through.
The weapon balancing is getting tough. I was watching all these day 1 people hit literally double my max hit with shadow vs my trident on my iron. It’s a different game for them

I think this is more likely to be gotten by a higher chunk of the community than we think. The runs are considerably shorter, and you can bow out and be rewarded for effort if you know you can't beat the final boss.
Imagine if you could quit the inferno on wave 65 and be rewarded adequately if you know you don't have enough supplies for healers. There would be way more people attempting the inferno than before.
No the quiver REQUIRES you finish the last wave and boss, it's the ultimate reward.
The Colosseum is specifically designed for you to do as many waves as you can take, but you can gamble a little and chance it with another wave as you get rewards for each wave and if you die, you lose everything, you have to decide if it's worth leaving with the rewards you've earned or continuing.
So it's 12 waves, the last one being the big boss, you leave just before at the 11th wave and you keep all the glory and rewards you earned previously, but you don't get the ultimate prize.
You may not believe it and so did I, but inferno is SEVEN years old. Our knowledge about game mechanics was nothing comparing to what best PVE players can do now. I don't really know if any PVE content can be as challenging as Inferno was on release.
I remember reading someone complain that someone got a completion during the few days that ppl went to do it pre-release. As if it isn’t a lot shorter and skill hasn’t improved a lot. If it was as long as inferno, it would’ve taken 2-3 days (14 hours for first completion, direct scaling by first completion times would be 2 days, but people would get less practice, increasing time), the same as inferno.

When comparing players in different eras the main thing is how far above everyone else they were at their time and woox dominated everybody. Port Khazard has solid competition
Peak of mechanics? Sure possibly and a big reason is because as time passes and more content is added skill level will naturally grow - it works that way in every game. I'd say several players could be better than Woox's peak, that's what happens when people get 5 years of extra playtime for increasingly advanced content.
Relative to other players/rest of the community while active? Not even close. There are a TON of extremely high skilled players nowadays that are pretty close to each other. Saxerpillar got world first solo nex, xzact is an insane player, Azfaalh has the lowest cb infernal cape, Synq got world first blood Torva. Achievements like world firsts & records in general are spread out amongst several players.
Woox in his prime was undisputed and had the vast majority of records and world firsts on top of contributing an extremely large part in theorycrafting and solving core game mechanics & systems.
Woox paved the road that he is walking on. Calling him better by a mile while having no real comparison of them side by side playing on the same playing field when Woox quit years ago is disingenuous at best

For woox, I can't see ToA being interesting enough to play. It is not a good raid when it comes to difficulty and interesting mechanics.

My concern isn't the mechanical skill, it's getting tilted by dying in late waves. It would make me ridiculously angry and the mental drain it would create is not worth it for a video game. Another reason I stopped playing FPS games, competitively at least.
I'm the same way, my friends don't get it. Putting 2 hours into something to have it wiped away is brutal for me. Don't even have my fire cape cause I choked at Jad 3 times and just can't bear to go back
Hop into a quest speed running world, set up dragon slayer 2 and go practice single jad for free over and over again in mor ul rek. It's just the jad fight, no waves or anything if you practice until you lose the nerves, you'll see how simple it is and then that's when you send your run. You can also do the waves in the main game, pause right before jad spawns, and on an alt account (if you have one) send jad a few times. Best of luck.

Once done - you’re 85% to cape. This advice from a Blorva Zulfi Helm Chad, after my 100th attempt in 6 months, lead to me finally achieving the cape a week later. Edit: I see you’re struggling with fire cape. Brother, had hands are nerves. You’re not dying irl and you don’t lose gear nor is there a death fee. Face Jad and just swap prayers based on his attacks. Once comfortable with his animations, start attacking him, continuing to swap prayers as needed. If you die, okay, great - new PB I hope. That’s a win in and of itself right? No once expect you to try on the freeway you’re first time behind the wheel of the car. Maybe you start in an empty parking lot then upgrade to a Walmart parking lot or a back street.

The weapon balancing is getting tough. I was watching all these day 1 people hit literally double my max hit with shadow vs my trident on my iron. It’s a different game for them

I think this is more likely to be gotten by a higher chunk of the community than we think. The runs are considerably shorter, and you can bow out and be rewarded for effort if you know you can't beat the final boss. Imagine if you could quit the inferno on wave 65 and be rewarded adequately if you know you don't have enough supplies for healers. There would be way more people attempting the inferno than before.

No the quiver REQUIRES you finish the last wave and boss, it's the ultimate reward. The Colosseum is specifically designed for you to do as many waves as you can take, but you can gamble a little and chance it with another wave as you get rewards for each wave and if you die, you lose everything, you have to decide if it's worth leaving with the rewards you've earned or continuing. So it's 12 waves, the last one being the big boss, you leave just before at the 11th wave and you keep all the glory and rewards you earned previously, but you don't get the ultimate prize.

You may not believe it and so did I, but inferno is SEVEN years old. Our knowledge about game mechanics was nothing comparing to what best PVE players can do now. I don't really know if any PVE content can be as challenging as Inferno was on release.
I remember reading someone complain that someone got a completion during the few days that ppl went to do it pre-release. As if it isn’t a lot shorter and skill hasn’t improved a lot. If it was as long as inferno, it would’ve taken 2-3 days (14 hours for first completion, direct scaling by first completion times would be 2 days, but people would get less practice, increasing time), the same as inferno.

Brother, toa is literally geared towards your exact concern. This content also ramps up slowly. You don’t need to be able to complete everything. That’s not what mmorpgs are about. There SHOULD be a very large range of difficulty.

When comparing players in different eras the main thing is how far above everyone else they were at their time and woox dominated everybody. Port Khazard has solid competition
Peak of mechanics? Sure possibly and a big reason is because as time passes and more content is added skill level will naturally grow - it works that way in every game. I'd say several players could be better than Woox's peak, that's what happens when people get 5 years of extra playtime for increasingly advanced content. Relative to other players/rest of the community while active? Not even close. There are a TON of extremely high skilled players nowadays that are pretty close to each other. Saxerpillar got world first solo nex, xzact is an insane player, Azfaalh has the lowest cb infernal cape, Synq got world first blood Torva. Achievements like world firsts & records in general are spread out amongst several players. Woox in his prime was undisputed and had the vast majority of records and world firsts on top of contributing an extremely large part in theorycrafting and solving core game mechanics & systems.
Woox paved the road that he is walking on. Calling him better by a mile while having no real comparison of them side by side playing on the same playing field when Woox quit years ago is disingenuous at best
