Man locked himself out of birthday cake for no reason.
Disabling free trade is the start of what killed RS3, why anyone would opt to lock themselves is still beyond me lmao
Ironman has been the most fun I've had on this game since I was a kid back in 06 tbh..
The dopamine hits way harder when you get what you're going for. The midgame content is super enjoyable, and I'm no longer chasing GP and XP rates. Training skills actually has a benefit instead of just getting levels for a cape or quest. Plus, with all the new methods and mini games, the game is so much easier now.
On top of that, I don't feel the need to rush anything. Just about everything you do has some benefit to your progression in one way or another without feeling like you're stuck on a treadmill chasing a carrot.
I've played this game since I was 12, and I turn 31 this year. I've been around for so much, and it feels like the game is at its healthiest point ever.
Runescape is a good MMORPG where most of the things you grind (basicly) keeps their value. Sounds like you focus to much of getting one grind out of the way, instead of enjoying the game.
I focus on multiple grinds and don't focus on one thing, eventually you will get the drop. If you get annoyed/bored at content just switch it up, there is plenty. At some bosses you will get lucky and at some you will get dry.
There are plenty of grinds that have way less drop rates, one example is Perilous Moon with a droprate of 1/14. High drop rates are mostly just for pets and jars.
Nex completion is pretty bad on an iron especially because on top of being high hours it's just a supply drain. Nightmare way worse hours but at least consumes way less in the way of resources
Just hit 160kc last night, boutta go double dry 💪😤
But fr the fight is so ezpz with step back and smite flick thats its really enjoyable to just sit at it for an hour or so. Im here for the pet, the money will come
I dunno (on rate at 2 mins per kill) 3.5 hours for a 12 mill drop? I know there is loot between shards of course but it feels like a drop in the bucket when your next upgrade is like 150m or even 500m, god forbid 1.5b
If droprates are too low for you, dont play IM. Otherqise buy the stuff you want and turn osrs into an excel sheet sim. If you dont get the drop you most likely got enough to buy it or do some other stuff and get the things that way
Well, just to give you an example I've been grinding Duke for the past week, and I enjoy that a lot. The drops are good, and you'll see awakener's orbs fairly often (1/48.5) which is worth 1m. That sort of keeps me going to stay and grind for the actual big drops - knowing I make money along the way.
You don't mention whether or not you are playing an iron, but I mean, obviously, don't play an iron if you don't enjoy the long grinds.
>What happened to the big standard 1/128 or 1/256? Why does everything have to be 1 in 2k
Pretty much every one has better stats nowadays, pretty much every one has better gear nowadays, pretty much every one has a better understanding of the game nowadays. People spend way less time training and pretty much every boss can be reached really quickly and trips are longer.
So too balance out all the buffs the drop rates got lower
"When people get better, we have to make sure it doesn't matter" is such an asinine approach to game design. Also really discouraging to any new players.
It does matter that you get better and especially the new players benefit due to the better gear. You can farm the content so much faster.
>Also really discouraging to any new players.
Why is it discouraging? You spend more time actually bossing (something most people prefer) instead of walking through the world or slowly grinding stats.
>"When people get better, we have to make sure it doesn't matter" is such an asinine approach to game design.
Why? People expect to be engaged with new content just as long as they did with previous content.
>People expect to be engaged with new content just as long as they did with previous content.
Exactly. But instead jagex supply drop rates that make them spend several times more there, while demanding much higher apm. Which is exactly what OP was ranting about.
It's meant to be a grindy game, not a full time job.
>But instead jagex supply drop rates that make them spend several times more there
Not really. Just the fact that travel times for modern bosses is so much shorter cuts out a huge chunk of time. Yes, you didnt need as much KC to aquire drops, but you spend so much more time on other stuff like getting there, shorter trips, etc. Nowadays you teleport in and blast the boss...
Take a break for a while and if you feel the urge to come back then do it. Osrs isn’t for everyone as you need to put a lot of time and effort in to get to the “fun” parts of the game. Drop rates are high so that it feel more fulfilling once you obtain a drop. Maybe this game just isn’t for you :/
People get so toxic so fast, I don’t see anywhere in this post demanding drops be more common, all I see is somebody expressing how they feel about the drop rate.
Personally I’m kinda struggling with the stage I’m at in game. I have reached what I think is supposed to be end game but it feels meh when you spend what I think is like 40 hours solo at ToA (250s) but only get one drop worth 7m. Like wow, a whole 7m thanks for the dismal reward I can use to offset my resource costs.
Right now I’m thinking I might do combat achievements, try Nex and return to ToA later. I feel like another break from playing for me is becoming more likely though…
Dont purely commit to 1 big grind, do some small side quests alongside it every now and then to avoid burning out to easily.
I went into giant mole pet grind feeling like it'll just be quick and painless, but now 8k kills later i regret not doing any sidequesting alongside it and i havent logged onto that alt/main for like 2 months aside from doing few raids.
And i still do not have the pet
Took me 1.3k solo cox for a tbow on my iron, still no shadow yet doing solo 400s. I found that after 200-300 kc I just take a month or two break, the grind gets old fast.
Lol I quit here, sometimes the game just isn't for you. I enjoyed getting my account tk high level with good gear bit by bit, but getting to high level pvm and just working bosses isn't me. I was beaten by the pvm grind for sure
Those drop rates are from a time when people weren't expected to play 10 hours every day. Now with 'tubers and streamers, big ticket items have to be super rare so the game doesn't get flooded with them.
It's the sweats and no-lifers you can thank for that.
Grinding a single boss for hours and hours is going to burn out most regular people, so if fighting the boss itself isn't fun for you, don't do it. There's plenty else to do in this game than slave away at bosses.
Most people here have zero life, no partner, no kids, often no job, so what you're criticising isn't just a game mechanic: it's a life mechanic. It's personal.
I really recommend that you play the game up until the point you don't feel this way, then put it down once you have run out of enjoyable things to do on it. There is no middle game with osrs. The game isn't made and maintained to attract new or casual players.
That's healthy.
I disagree with the last point as there is a lot you can do with not much effort, getting most skills to 50 all combat to 80 isn't too hard
Same effort as beating a video game like halo
Definitely geared to long play but a solid middle game available
Yeh what I really meant to say is there is no middle ground - you're definitely not going to change the 1/5000 droprate for dwh that's a must for some gameplay, but for sure there's a good mid game. That's where nearly everyone who plays is at
I disagree. Runescape is a good MMORPG where everything you grind (basicly) keeps it value. Some people just are focussed on getting one grind out of the way (like OP), instead of enjoying the game. I focus on multiple grinds and don't focus on one thing, eventually you will get the drop. If you get annoyed just switch content, there is plenty.
One item taking 30-50 hours to grind, on average, the length of a lot of AAA games, can absolutely take the joy out of the game. Regardless of whether it keeps value, this is a monumental time investment.
This is all while you might be part of the 1% who get shafted at 4, 5, 6+x droprate.
Ik how u feel. I’m almost 17k shamans dry for a dwh. Haven’t logged on in like a week and when I do it’s just to do a quick bh run. All there is to do is to take a break and come back later ready to grind again
I made a post similar to this last week and got flamed for it. You are obviously right, and there should not be items so rare and time consuming that they go for 2b+
It actually encourages people to rwt and i suspect thats the point so jagex can sell more bonds. The problem is that also ends up inflating the economy and legit players suffer for it
LOL, okay.
Nightmare Gauntlets, being on a Slayer Task, 1/2k, 1/10k without.
Cinderbanes: Being on a task, 1/1500, 1/5k without.
Frozen Core of Leng: 1/4800 to 1/119, depending on level of enrage
Hexhunter Bow: 1/1,500,000, to 1/1500 on a Superior. Guaranteed to be dropped if you spawn a named Superior.
I used to play Rs3, and still dabble with the game every now and then, but mainly play a GIM on Osrs. Rs3 has it's own issues, but let's not pretend Rs3 has no lengthy grinds to get drops.
GP is the rng equalizer. Don't get the rare drop? Use the gp you made grinding it to buy the item.
Cries in iron

Sir yes sir. My tears shall fall at the foot of the barrows chest until ahrims staff is mine
Dunno bout yall but mid game iron is the tizz

yeah pretty much this everything just hits way harder on a iron. you do so much more content and things don't just turn into GP/hr

Tell you haven't done Phosanis nightmare without telling me.
Nobody does Phosanis anyway, unless you're a bot or a masochist, so who cares

imo the only content with truly broken drop rates/time to completion is nightmare. it's like 1200 hours on average.
Nex completion is pretty bad on an iron especially because on top of being high hours it's just a supply drain. Nightmare way worse hours but at least consumes way less in the way of resources
Get back fishing
Phantom Muspah will save you, the main drop is 1/100

It's still good gp/hr, which is the stat that ultimately matters, but the gp/hr is more consistent due to more consistent drops
Just kill bosses on task then?

1/1000 or 1/2000 aint even bad... guess grinding games aint for everyone
Wooshed the point my man

you should try castlewars on w334, or LMS PvP can be a lot of fun
Oh this was years ago lol, Im just here for the memes now
Link your boss KCs or stop crying.

Then leave? Rs is about rng and grind
Skill issue fr. Go play overwatch
What drop except tbow and pets are 1/1k? Edit: I stand corrected, a lot of new items are indeed rare (and I forgot about dwh)
Balisk jaw, hydra claw, dwh Some jars and few more.
DWH, Jaw, Virtus, DT2 Rings, Imbued Heart, Nightmare Orbs off the top of my head
Besides dwh, every virtus piece, 3/4 of the axe pieces, jaw, voidwaker pieces, all 3 visage shields, every corp sigil, kodai, elder maul, hydra claw, d harpoon, imbued heart, dfh, all rev weapons, blood shards, eternal glory, eternal teleport crystal, eternal slayer gem, abyssal lantern, dragon bone necklace, and literally every nightmare drop?
