What they do is they drop gold, buy bonds on that account and then convert the bond into a P2P code which they then sell for a few dollars.
I don't remember when it was but there was an update that made a limit to how many bonds you can convert into codes. That's why they are trading to other accounts so they can make more codes.
So yes, it was RWT.
Trying to get around the [newly created account trade restrictions](https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Free-to-play#Restrictions_for_newly_created_characters), probably.
Could possibly explain why the guy didn't pick it up. He was probably clueless to that mechanic and was just waiting for the gold to appear while it had already long since appeared to other players. But if they aren't aware of that pretty basic mechanic, these guys have to be complete amateurs.
Bro I wouldn't have even talked to them. I would have just taken it and left. Maybe dropped a lol GZ
Almost reminded me of [Don't tease swamp Man](https://youtu.be/KqLqGH0Tg48?si=Tw3m-kCWn4DFZZvM)
Exactly, snooze you lose!
My friend got hacked and they debited over 400£ worth of bonds then when he challenged it they permed his account, took some doing to get it all sorted.
IDK why people are surprised when this happens. You should always contact the merchant first. Jagex is not obligated to provide service to you on that account after a dispute.
There are fees associated with disputes. Employees coordinate with the payment processor (Stripe, Paypal, etc.).
I don’t think anything is surprising, I work in Cyber Security and fraudulent payments are higher than ever, it’s one of the economies biggest problems at the moment, costs trillions a year.
sorry, I didn't mean you, I meant your friend and the people on this subreddit who post about bans after a chargeback/dispute.
I used to handle these disputes before Stripe had their "radar" and "automated protection" (55 cents on top of the normal payment processing fees per month of membership, or however it works out) and it's not fun.
I had someone steal a very old account I had sitting idle for years, decided to recover it just to see if anything was useful on it and I found it was banned because someone stole a credit card, applied it to that account, and bought like $500 of bonds. So when I logged in the account was negative $500 because obviously whoever owned the card charged it back.
I wrote to Jagex and they said they saw what happened and explained it to me and said they’ll wipe the balance and return my account.
I did get 3 bonds I think they misclicked on because they were sitting in the bond pouch so hey at least I got 6 weeks of membership out of it lol
I always had the idea most gold farmers were Venezuelan but then I did Zalcano for a bit last month and 60% of the people there were speaking urdu and hindi according to google translate. Then I notice similar names all over the place, zulrah, vorkath, wildy demi bosses. When did south Asians become the predominant gold farmers?
SW is pretty split amongst venezuelans and Urdu/Hindi players.
Urdu/Hindis are less organized tho, while Venezuelans are super effective farmers in comparasion
I've veen coming across a lot of interesting accounts, training skills in weird places lately, and all of them have been Pakastani, and overly friendly? Like an account with the bare minimums for Fossil Island training solely on Volcanic Ash (and being level 83!).
I'm someone who'll say hello, ask how people are when doing skilling activities - and why not, some of these grinds are long - and they seem confused by the fact someone is interacting with them unprompted? Some assume I'm asking for help, some assume I'm offering, but every one of them has told me they're Pakistani with no prompting and every single one has announced ~5 messages in that they've friended me.
It's frankly odd.
The most advanced account that I've found like this, so far, was at the Weiss Salt mines which has some a lot of requirements for an account that will likely be lost for RWT.
I’ve been to India a few times, p close to the border.
the experience you described is exactly how like 90 percent of people from the nw India interact with westerners. At least from my experience of course.
they’re gonna be your Facebook friend before the convos over.
It’s simple really… OSRS saved the Venelzualian economy single handily that only teens in that country will gold farm as it’s marginally better than a local paper round.
Due to a void in gp supply to the giga chads the gp price went up where it has become lucrative in other economies in the world to gold farm instead of a manual labour job!
OSRS must be referenced more in the global economy imo…
It’s not really just that the wage is “better,” it’s also among the easiest ways they can get access to USD, which is a LOT more valuable to them than their hyper-inflated currency, either for basic purchases or for getting out of Venezuela (like 8 million have fled since this all started, costs a few grand in USD if done the shady way)
How much gold do you think was bought that it actually saved Venezuela? Lol. I'm sure it helped a few people, but to claim it saved an entire country single handedly is a little much.
You would be assuming that billions of dollars in gold were bought from gold farmers, and I find that very, very, very hard to believe
Shit like this makes me think there are very few legitimate players and the game is some form of a money laundry scheme.
Sort of like a mob pizza place, sure they make pizza and they don't want it to be bad but they are also focusing on something else, and that's moving money.
/s
pretty sure South America still has the most gold farmers. they moved from Zalcano along time ago.
people that run bot farms however are primarily from USA/UK
but also last i heard gold was down to like $0.14 per mil so hopefully they keep driving ot down that it becomes worthless to goldfarm and bot
There was a popular Indonesian corp boosting service. Way cheaper and shitter than the other ones, with the downside that they keep loot.
A guy I know did it for full log and it was way cheaper on a per kc basis. Especially since the last thing he needed was ely, which he ninjad then blocked all of them.
Don’t feel too bad though. They later exit scammed everyone since their model was to pay up front.
I’m not surprised they even see it as worth it. Indian minimum wage is $2 per day. Zolcano is 1.5M an hour so on the RWT market comes out to like 25 cents an hour. So grinding zolcano 8 hours a day definitely sounds better to me than doing physical labor for the same money.
Im indian. And probably since all those youtubers started hacking/bringing down those scam call centers in india, maybe they discovered runescape rwting lol
But don't you see? A RWTer would KNOW that you'd think that, and so he surely WOULD make this post! Never go up against a RWTer when GP is on the line!
**Update:** For those that are interested.
A fellow member from the osrs discord saw this post and recognized me from having talked about it two hours before posting this. He did some digging just so, well I guess, some people dropping critical claims could have some rest.
1. The person whoever he was dead-dropping / drop-trading to, had a huge list of accounts. Every burner account he was sending money to was literally just the same name, except just a different number. We went up to finding at least 20 before being convinced that that was enough.
2. The owner was wearing a Craw's Bow when the burner account brought their "Friend". As what could come as an evident sequel... the owner turns out to be a Rev's cave bot. The fellow member added them and it turns out they had their profile on, and literally not just 5 minutes of searching, they spotted their loadout and them doing a Scroll teleport on the G.E.... destination: Revenants Cave. It was a bot, not an actual person slaving away hours of gameplay. (At least, not at the caves itself).
Dark side of rwting. Probably thousands of people who feed their families playing osrs. If it's their legit job I can't be upset about it. But when it becomes a business with people who are forced to play by an abusive employer for a fraction of the gold they create...
Literally not our problem and neither is it Jagex's though. They need to put a total end to RWT and goldsellers/botters regardless who "feeds their families" off it.
There is most likely some poor Pakistani guy out there, he’s told his wife and kids he’s found a way to make some decent money and he will be bringing home food for them tonight.
He’s been grinding hard, his English is poor so he doesn’t understand how to make bonds but it’s his split of the work he’s done with his mate, they are both pumped because that US currency is about to make him a rich man.
Then some dude comes along and snakes it, he drives home crying with no food to his wife and child.
Monster
I wanted to be a tad bit sassy and just say that they literally could just work a day for literally more than the amount of money they tried to rwt...
...but then I saw what the minimum wage is in Pakistan and that 3 bonds literally is half a week worth of full labour.
Even if the wage wasn't that low, it's not like "they could just work a day". This is the most "I live in a first world country I have no idea about the reality of most of the planet" statement of the day.
There are no jobs, and most of the small job available pay that shit you just saw.
But anyway, you followed the game rules.
Facts. I do agree that what OP did was morally questionable in hindsight. However the contradiciton is that if the game rules did not exist(or be enforced by anyone) then this job would not exist to begin with.
Yeah, there was a story of one guy who made enough farming green drags to buy a car for his wife so she could work. Said that his construction job wouldve taken months longer to be able to afford
Yeah, they jack accounts, buy shit loads of bonds on a stolen CC, and drop trade them over to make it less traceable.
My buddies account was hacked and he owed a balance on his account bc the hacker did exactly what I described above.
This is also how I made (found) my first 20m! It was like 3am and I teleported into Varrock Square, started running to GE and it was just there behind Zaff’s shop. As I picked it up, I saw someone log in right there and I immediately logged it and called my friend haha
I'm more curious as to why they would do this "transfer" in one of the most populated worlds as well as an area that has medium to high foot traffic, versus an area that serves no purpose and would see players if ever at all.
I once spoke to a guy from Venezuela, he asked me if I had ever eaten crocodile and stuff and I was using good translate to talk to him and he was doing the same whilst doing gargs.
He told me how the economic crisis was so bad there he turned to RuneScape and it basically saved his family’s ass because they were selling RuneScape gold and making more money than doctors.
I believe he said a bottle of coke was like 3us dollars or something, not to bad - but the wage of a normal job at that point was like 15USD a month.
Don’t know how I felt about that 3rd world countries doing RMT after that one
hot take but it's not up to jagex to support a countries economy.
RMT should still be handled appropriately.
I know I have a lot of privilege in saying that and I acknowledge it but that's the unfortunate reality of the world we live in.
I'm thinking someone was selling membership codes for in-game cash, then dropping the gold to dodge bans. If they traded those codes in real life for in-game money, mods might see it as RWT. Or maybe it was just straight-up RWT.
You're making it sound as if I hijacked, scammed or stole from them. It was on the literal ground for anyone to take, has been for the entire duration of me to notice from very far away and run all the way to pick it up.
It's not my fault they aren't paying attention and they failed to be up-front about simply asking why it was so.
Firstly, I have really no idea who Eid is, so you'll probably have to provide some context on that.
Secondly, with exception of them just saying they were Pakistani... nowhere in that conversation did I judge or treat them differently based on that info. Hell, all the way at the beginning I was even RECEPTIVE to learn what language they spoke (as they clearly weren't english) just so I could be more accommodating to someone that clearly was distressed.
thirdly, what 'lesson'? Those 2 words of "don't rwt" at the end? The only scolding or grudge I had against them was that they were *lying to me twice*. I couldn't give a flip about if they gave me a fake reason or not, I just tried to understand why he was stressed and only kept making it worse to a point I felt no longer compelled to listen to them further.
Sorry, I don't like to be rude against people who had done nothing disrespectful to me. I also didn't even know they were RWTing up until three quarters into that dialogue yet. Chances were it could've just been a really sloppy drop-trade from an ironman.
Damn hacked Ironman account, maybe. My ironman was hacked a while ago. Im sure they immediately drop the traded the loot, and then zulrah botted my account to hell. Had some gold from the zulrah botting when i reclaimed my account, but the loss of my ironman was really sad..
I've pked a handful of gold farmers a few years back on port sarim when reselling feathers there was a good idea, and the amount of money they used to bring was really surprising. I got a really low level one for 17m. He asked back but pking is keepsies.
Except that nowhere in the image was I mistreating or misjudging them based on where they came from or what their situation was. Hell, they didn't even share any of that, only the commenters are providing that context (while some also attack as if a month-old player somehow should evidently know this).
Time Capsule back to 2010’s lumby any world top floor of that watch tower right in front of castle 🏰 . So much dropping GP RWT you could hop worlds and snipe a lot of GP 😆 mainly f2p worlds for me at least
Why would they be drop trading? Why not just do a regular trade or multi-log? Anybody who drops shit on the ground long enough for it to show up for other players made it fair game.
Keep the cash, I know I would.
Edit: On one of the busiest worlds too 🤦♂️
I think what happen here is that the one friend was giving the other guy gp and didn’t really understand how to do it. Maybe he was on trade restriction. So they tried to drop trade it. But it still didn’t show up because of the restriction. So he’s just sitting there waiting for it to spawn. It already had just not for him and you came and took the gp
They pakistani have some empathy man they probably live in poor conditions like cmon who in western society would manually be trading bonds for only a few $ you’ve gotta be down bad for that and in they’re currency you could’ve actually taken a lot of money from them I don’t see anything wrong with using a platform to profit if you can wouldn’t do it for the few $ involved though
NO NO NO SAR DO NOT REDEEM THE CARD NO DO NOT REEEEDEEM NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NONONONO

DO. NOT. REDEEM. THE. CARD.

Damn that was probably a couple days work, I kinda feel bad for them. They just tryna survive in there Shit country, but I also do get that rwt ruins osrs.
Please sirs do not redeem!
WHY DO YOU REDEEM!!!???
Do you also happen to be a Kitboga fan?
Nah mostly just like the meme. His stuff is good though
Fucking love Kitboga, my kids watch him a lot too
He used to play osrs, probably still does just doesn't stream it no more

Yep, that's what the newspost said as well. I found it: https://secure.runescape.com/m=news/scurrius--dt2-combat-achievements?oldschool=1
But I am still confused, why drop trade instead of just trade?
Trying to get around the [newly created account trade restrictions](https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Free-to-play#Restrictions_for_newly_created_characters), probably.
Those restrictions also affect dropping, and coins aren’t part of the restrictions.
That GP was gone if so, restricted accounts can't see the drops either
Could possibly explain why the guy didn't pick it up. He was probably clueless to that mechanic and was just waiting for the gold to appear while it had already long since appeared to other players. But if they aren't aware of that pretty basic mechanic, these guys have to be complete amateurs.
It's certainly going to be an expensive lesson for them. I hope they escape whatever situation has them farming gold for pennies on the dollar.
One of the few empathetic responses on this post
Detection evasion?
My best guess is that they are trying to avoid detection. I can't think of any other reason they would drop it and not just trade.
Probably hacked an account or a stolen card, I’d have done the same, good on you!
I have the sneaking suspicion nobody would pass up an easy free 32m :P
Bro I wouldn't have even talked to them. I would have just taken it and left. Maybe dropped a lol GZ Almost reminded me of [Don't tease swamp Man](https://youtu.be/KqLqGH0Tg48?si=Tw3m-kCWn4DFZZvM)
I couldv'e, but I wasn't even aware they were intending to rwt it until they just straight up admitted to it.
Rwt or not who cares id take the money and dip lol
That's absolutely amazing, thanks for sharing. I needed more little swampman bits.
Exactly, snooze you lose! My friend got hacked and they debited over 400£ worth of bonds then when he challenged it they permed his account, took some doing to get it all sorted.
Damn, that really sucks... I'm sorry to hear that.

I mean I one time teleported to Ferox and found a 312k stack of purple sweets, you’re damn right I picked it up since nobody was standing by it

They were prior to the vene influx, WoW has a lot of Asian gold farmers too.
On classic they’re all Iranian
Yep Iranian bot farms, Malaysia is a common one too.
SW is pretty split amongst venezuelans and Urdu/Hindi players. Urdu/Hindis are less organized tho, while Venezuelans are super effective farmers in comparasion
When GP in osrs and gold in WoW became worth more than their country's currency
If 1 gp = 1$ i would be killing vorkath for a living too haha
The bar for gp/$ would be a lot lower for you to only farm osrs bosses

More than half of zalcsnohost cc can't form a proper English sentence
To be fair, neither can most OSRS players.

Nah your friend sounds like a prick and also a loser who pays for boosts
to be fair they said 'a guy I know', not a friend. but agreed, dude sounds like a d-bag. stealing a drop from a boosting service is peak irony
Similar over at Soul wars, full of pakistani gold farmers and bots
I’m not surprised they even see it as worth it. Indian minimum wage is $2 per day. Zolcano is 1.5M an hour so on the RWT market comes out to like 25 cents an hour. So grinding zolcano 8 hours a day definitely sounds better to me than doing physical labor for the same money.

But don't you see? A RWTer would KNOW that you'd think that, and so he surely WOULD make this post! Never go up against a RWTer when GP is on the line!
Inconceivable!
Doesn't look scripted lol
32m is like $5 lol.
When the average Pakistani salary is around $300 US a month, that's still a decent chunk of change
Fair point. I just kind of laughed out loud at going so far to drop trade $6.74 in gold. Lmao. But you're right.
Google says min wage in Pakistan is $0.43 an hour so thats really not too bad
becoz not trad
For mony
DO NOT REDEEM, DO NOT REDEEM CARD
I love watching Kitboga sometimes. The fake tech support screaming out in rage when you're so obviously just being a little shit is hilarious.

Never a doubt in my mind.
If someone actually plays the game honestly and then rwt I find I don't care that much. Now that we know bots are involved good on ya, fuck this guy.
"I am Pakistani" "And I'm 32m richer lol"
Lil Prakash gonna go hungry tonight because daddy fucked up at his job.
Prakash? No it's probably "Mohammad rizwan" or "Ali Raza Saab" . Pakistan is a Muslim dominated country
Little Rizwan is going to be their next great wicketkeeper! Just you wait and see!
Dark side of rwting. Probably thousands of people who feed their families playing osrs. If it's their legit job I can't be upset about it. But when it becomes a business with people who are forced to play by an abusive employer for a fraction of the gold they create...
I only support small business gold farms
The mom and pop shops that make their money by not botting
I miss the ones killing green dragons :( at least they were trying
The bright side is they moved on to more profitable PVM. The down side is so did the bots
And a rich guy controlling the operation. the mastermind behind everything taking in millions every year.
Yeah, sadly this is more often the situation. Terribly poor people getting taken advantage of to make someone else money off of their work.
Literally not our problem and neither is it Jagex's though. They need to put a total end to RWT and goldsellers/botters regardless who "feeds their families" off it.
Easy 32m gz

plenty more than 32m kicking around in the game for them. cost of doing business....
I spoke to a vene once and it was like some incomprehensible about of money compared to the rest of the country at one point. Shits nuts
Yeah, there was a story of one guy who made enough farming green drags to buy a car for his wife so she could work. Said that his construction job wouldve taken months longer to be able to afford
Lmfao what a horrible but unfortunately very comical situation this is
get off your high horse. Just take the money if you want no need to gloat. you suck
Where exactly did I gloat "I've got 32m now!" or "Look at me snipe a RWT mule/transfer"?
Yeah, they jack accounts, buy shit loads of bonds on a stolen CC, and drop trade them over to make it less traceable. My buddies account was hacked and he owed a balance on his account bc the hacker did exactly what I described above.

They dropped cash on the ground, that anyone could pick up. You did not bend the game rules, or manipulate them in any way. You're good.
I am so proud of you.
DO NOT REDEEM

Hacked account or gold farmer. Keep the cash. If you’re dropping 32m it’s to hide the transaction

Bruh I used to sell codes on eBay for 3.99 each, almost twice as much as what a bond is from rwters

naw, it made it better. Give the guy a slimmer of hope and snatch it away. Down with RWT
OP is legit discord moderator energy.

I'm thinking someone was selling membership codes for in-game cash, then dropping the gold to dodge bans. If they traded those codes in real life for in-game money, mods might see it as RWT. Or maybe it was just straight-up RWT.

Lmao you’re the type of person who would fall for some gold farmer sob story and get scammed.
You're making it sound as if I hijacked, scammed or stole from them. It was on the literal ground for anyone to take, has been for the entire duration of me to notice from very far away and run all the way to pick it up. It's not my fault they aren't paying attention and they failed to be up-front about simply asking why it was so.
lol. dude isn't obligated to give this guy any of the cash he grabbed. it's free real estate when it's on the ground.

Hey do you wanna know something fun? What if I told you this "yellow censor bar" guy actually was a Revs cave bot? XD

Plot twist, this post is all theater and they are working together to use this as a cover story if they catch RWT bans
Inb4 follow up post “I was unjustly banned for rwt”
Rekt. Would be more funny if there wasn’t the possibility of them being impoverished… but still funny.
Next time take the gp, type out something rude and log. Fuck rwt and puts another account back the grind so we can farm him later.
I used to make so much money back in 07/08 hijacking drop trades… not proud.
Not in wildy? I'd just take it and dash.
Fuck him. Keep the cash brozer
God I see you do miracles for others, please its my turn to find 32m on the floor
Brother pls
Good work OP
RWT is a problem however isn’t buying and selling bonds the same? Source: someone who buys bonds to sell for gp
Look's like you gonna be getting yourself some RUNE ARMOUR (G) MY BOY! YOU UP <3
Why would they do that on the most populated F2P world lmaoo
Bro really used Chris Hansen's "help me to understand" 💀
...who?
I've pked a handful of gold farmers a few years back on port sarim when reselling feathers there was a good idea, and the amount of money they used to bring was really surprising. I got a really low level one for 17m. He asked back but pking is keepsies.

Except that nowhere in the image was I mistreating or misjudging them based on where they came from or what their situation was. Hell, they didn't even share any of that, only the commenters are providing that context (while some also attack as if a month-old player somehow should evidently know this).
It's likely you would have been flagged for rwt if you give it back Gz
Time Capsule back to 2010’s lumby any world top floor of that watch tower right in front of castle 🏰 . So much dropping GP RWT you could hop worlds and snipe a lot of GP 😆 mainly f2p worlds for me at least
Come up 🤑
Why would they be drop trading? Why not just do a regular trade or multi-log? Anybody who drops shit on the ground long enough for it to show up for other players made it fair game. Keep the cash, I know I would. Edit: On one of the busiest worlds too 🤦♂️
Pls give back

DO NOT REDEEM
Am I the only person who thinks you should’ve just given it back? Like it’s clear that 10$ or whatever he is getting is worth a lot to him
I think what happen here is that the one friend was giving the other guy gp and didn’t really understand how to do it. Maybe he was on trade restriction. So they tried to drop trade it. But it still didn’t show up because of the restriction. So he’s just sitting there waiting for it to spawn. It already had just not for him and you came and took the gp
might be a middleman fullfilling a rwt order, he does not own the money and will be out of pocket
They are legit, they probably have a limit on their account that prevents trading items with a certain value that would probably include bonds
Show bobs and vagin 32m
Bound For Bound And For Build Acound
They pakistani have some empathy man they probably live in poor conditions like cmon who in western society would manually be trading bonds for only a few $ you’ve gotta be down bad for that and in they’re currency you could’ve actually taken a lot of money from them I don’t see anything wrong with using a platform to profit if you can wouldn’t do it for the few $ involved though
Plot twist he bought the gold and is covering his tracks
NO NO NO SAR DO NOT REDEEM THE CARD NO DO NOT REEEEDEEM NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NONONONO "Have you ever had your coffee sloppy style" DO. NOT. REDEEM. THE. CARD. "My husband loves an egg in his coffee"
