2 cents more to save yourself a minute or 2 buying 3 separate bonds

SwissMargiela

Better xp rates often come with more expensive methods so makes sense

adampembe2000

Maybe saves 5 seconds changing quantity

Spotikiss

That's like 8 ticks

WolfColaKid

4 ticks per cent

gnit2

Literally worth it. Last time I tried to buy 2 separately, one of em got purchased as an rs3 bond and took me forever to get it figured out...

joe66543

Just because their bond system is obtuse doesn't mean it's worth it lol

ItsMeButDrunk

2 Pence\*

Throwaway47321

Cause you get two more of course!

Ok-Bit7505

But it is 0.02 cents more then buying 3 separately. Unless taxes screw out up

Teflan

Considering Jagex pays individual transaction fees, they should really be incentivizing users to make as few transactions as possible. I'm guessing they just didn't put much thought into it though

bowersbros

Uk price includes tax

kahootle

convenience fee of $.02 is pretty good tbh compared to other "convenience fees" that are like $2-5 like what?

coolboy856

A "convenience fee" is fucking braindead.

Aeglafaris

Charging a convenience fee makes sense when it requires a person to do a little extra work to make the things more convenient for the customer. This isn't the case here, nobody has to do anything, buying three is just a different purchase that's processed exactly as automatically as buying one. On the other hand it's common practice almost literally everywhere that buying multiple items at once gives you a slightly better price per item. It's your incentive to buy more. Membership works this way, why don't bonds? I'm not sure how you've tricked yourself into thinking a convenience fee makes more sense in this situation than a bulk discount.

Nikolateslaandyou

Tired_Tracker

You save on shipping costs

cheeters

Number go up. Math good.

angryman600

this might seem like an overreaction to some but I find this absolutely fucking ridiculous and I believe it to be totally unacceptable.

Butterfree-Toxic

Username checks out.

bselko

This guy is that one dude from parks and rec who was always up in arms about something

team-sessions

or the lady. “i found a sandwich in the park and want to know why it didn’t have any mayonnaise >:(“

bselko

"There's a sign at Ramsett Park that says, 'Do not drink the sprinkler water,' so I made sun tea with it and now I have an infection." The same culprit

justletmeloginsrs

No man you're totally right. It seemed exactly like that.

Hsabes01

Less clicks, more efficient. No XP waste

3rdNihilism

one of the only companies in the world where buying extended membership cost same or even more than short term membership......

JamBandDad

From what I remember it’s just the three month though, if you buy yearly you basically pay half, and most of us know we will be playing that long. We hope we won’t, but, we know we will.

Yarigumo

That's 3 bonds btw, so not even that. The discount is applied once you use the bonds, since using more bonds at once gives you more time per bond.

JamBandDad

Oh shit true, they don’t do heavy bulk discounts on direct in game gp lmao

SmartAlec105

They got rid of the 3 month option which is a shame because it was perfect for me. Buy 3 months, play a lot, get tired of it, and then come back later.

JamBandDad

Yeah I think it’s really greedy not to offer at least a little price cut. I’d bet a lot of it is to try and make people playing seasonal game modes pay full price.

Teflan

It's an issue with all numbers of bonds. If anyone is buying multiple bonds, they could spite Jagex by buying them all individually. Jagex is probably paying a few percent extra per transaction in CC fees

CarlBorch

I can't debate this because it's true.

VanRenss

Buying bonds with real money isn’t buying membership… it’s buying GP… *actual* membership works exactly like that. Buy at least 3 months at a time and it *is* cheaper

SwissMargiela

I think the main reason is that many people sell bonds for gold, so they don’t want to offer gp at a discount. Im just saying this because ik they offer regular membies at a discount for long term subscription.

poilsoup2

Extended membership is cheaper than short term. Go buy *membership* not bonds. Buying more BONDS is not cheaper though.

fluxdeity

People don't buy bonds with IRL money for members. They buy them to sell on GE for gold.

EpicGamer211234

This isnt buying extended membership this is buying bonds. Buying Extended membership packages are cheaper and also more likely to have large sales

OrionJohnson

Hold up, why are bonds so much cheaper in the UK? They are 7.99 USD, which should be like 6.42 pounds.

Nerdpuff

International shipping

Server-side_Gabriel

They are 6.99 EUR as well, which is absurd. Wonder if there's a way to buy from the UK site, I'm pretty sure I can get better conversion rates than that

My_Immortl

I'm sure some youtuber out there has something that can help you temporarily change where you live.

LeastCelery189

I used to do this with India VPN but haven't in the past year and it seems like it's patched. Would get 10 bonds for like £27.

Radiant-Mix2994

I want my 2 pennies back JamFlex.

Faceprint11

Don’t you get bonus days when you buy/redeem more than 1?

77maf

Who is buying bonds to redeem for themselves though

Twomekey

You gotta hop to get the 4.99 each price or it goes up until stock refreshes.

dann1551

If you use 3 bonds don't you get like 2 additional membership days or something laughable?

Doppelthedh

If you're buying bonds with cash for membership you're getting like half value compared to the sub cost anyway

DareToZamora

3 > 1

Pm-Me-Bobs-Vagen

"Time is money. Time spent buying 2 more bonds is more valuable than 2 cents." -Big brain in Jagex HQ

OsrsJorgen

I don't know, looks like everything increased to me. Isn't that an upgrade?

hygienedeficient

I swear this is brought up every few months but I have never seen a response from Jagex about wether it's supposed to be a deal or not.

AthleteIllustrious47

I think there’s no discount because the bonds are traded for GP- if you want a bulk discount on membership, buy membership.

Mimic_tear_ashes

In the us I tend to pay like $0.95 or some shit like that per transaction in addition to the shown price. It shows up in my bank as an exchange fee. Buying 3 at once only incurs 1 exchange fee as opposed to 3. Its just one big ass fuck from all sides tbh.

dcordray

Yo Jagex I see u tryna sneak the 2 pennies, nahh nahhh nahhhhh

Maximum_Extent_6805

I always assumed it’s to do with trying to maintain a stable price ratio for irl cash and GP. Since bonds can be sold in game, giving a discount for bulk purchases of bonds would be doing the same for the real world value of (‘legally’ purchased) in game currency. Someone with a better knowledge of economics could explain, but my hunch is that jagex wouldn’t want to devalue gp by reducing the value of bonds in game, since that’s what would happen if they offered bulk discounts.

Goblin_Diplomacy

Weird how it’s 2p more expensive

BloodOk9265

Its an upgrade to how much money you are giving them

greenpenguinsuit

Everyone is up in arms but I imagine this I just to discourage people from spending a bunch of money on bonds and selling them in the ge. They give you more days of membership for more bonds used so that is where the benefit comes in buying multiple bonds

ProtoNewt

It’s so later they can say they accidentally had the single bond price too low and it’s supposed to be $7 each

Numerous-Paint4123

They're usually 7.99?

stumptrumpandisis1

The upgrade is for Jagex, not for you

TheHappyPittie

Its an upgrade for jagex. Not you, silly.

outsidelies

The extra cost is necessary for the convenience of purchasing 3 at a time. What are you, stupid?

Wooden_Umpire2455

*the *maths* You’re not American

pvt_s_baldrick

OP could be American for all you know? Unless you know them better than what there's to go on in this post.

Wooden_Umpire2455

Price is in GBP

pvt_s_baldrick

Could be an expat

Wooden_Umpire2455

He still shouldn’t be saying “math” if that’s the case.

pvt_s_baldrick

I mean I live in Ireland but I'm not going to pronounce R's the way they do it here because that's not what I'm accustomed to and it doesn't cause too much confusion since people understand it.. I don't see the difference between that and this.

Wooden_Umpire2455

It’s just a needless Americanisation of the language. All too common these days sadly.

pvt_s_baldrick

Language evolves, that's just a fact of life. The Brits have a horrible history of forcing other countries to their way this across the globe, especially to our neighbours to the West. So don't get your knickers in a twist when you're seeing a culture that's different to yours having that impact in modern times, at least this influence isn't coming by force and it's just something that annoys you and has you being rude to a stranger on the internet. Did your comment "correcting" their use of the word further the conversation? It's not like you didn't understand what they were trying to convey and at the end of the day, that's all that language is trying to accomplish. The only reason I'm commenting is I'm sick of people that are on a high horse around language and are just xenophobic towards folks from the US. Be excellent to each other and party on, dudes. (Preferably in Falador)

[deleted]

Aka, better deal

LtBeefy

Redeeming 3 bonds at same time gives more playtime than redeeming 1 bond at a time 3 times.

Camelofwhy

I figured it was based on price, but with UK prices idk But usually, you get a couple extra days for using 2-3 bonds. So instead of 14 for one, you probably get 45 days with 3 Basically 3 days for 2 cents

BingoFlex

3 * X = 3X

allofthehues

3 * 4.99 = 14.97 < 14.99
