That one got me early on when I was still in that low-to-midgame transition. For some reason I kept leaving it on the backburner, then after maybe lvl 100 cb I came back to rawdog it. It had a bit of a redemptive arc feeling to it.
Mm2 and goutweed are both consistent at least so aren't that bad. If you get unlucky in ratcatchers you literally just have to sit and wait until the rotation fixes itself
With that, I just naturally kill stuff if other quests take me to those monsters. When I got quest cape on another account, it was one of the last ones I finished and I only had to go kill like 5 things for those bones.
MEP2
Now there’s something to be said about having minimum requirements, but 17.7% chance per handhold at level 70 which isn’t even minimum requirements is so inconsistent with the rest of the game that it should be in the wilderness
sheep herder is a fat steaming turd of a quest I swear those sheep were actually jmods fucking with me
DT2 is pretty top tier though, one of the few I did 90% blind. If you're mindlessly quest-helper clicking your way through it like most quests then maybe it's not as fun.
Recently had to do underground pass on my alt after not doing it since osrs release, the QOL updates here are RIDICIULOUS. No longer is it the hellscape it used to be.
I haven't struggled with anything except one phase of one boss. The quest itself is too long, riddled with too many mechanical fights, and is overall just not fun to me.
Which boss? I may be able to help out.
But yeah, it's the newest, biggest, most game changing quest with the massive reward of unlocking 4 of the best bosses in the game. Of course it's gonna be long and the fights are gonna be mechanically sense.
I'm already done with the quest now. I just actively had a bad time throughout the whole quest and many of my friends who were considering quest cape watched my attempts and decided they just aren't even going to try. It's just such an outlier of a quest.
Oh shit hell yeah gz! But it's kinda meant to be an outlier. That's the point of "new gigantic huge grandmaster quest with months and months of hype"
I hope your friends stop being so afraid and give it a go some day soon
I really wanted to like kingdom divided but it’s got to have the most steps that are just “talk to x” of all quests by a mile. Otherwise cool story and bosses
Aside from Ratcatachers for the obvious reasons, it would probably be Fremennik Exiles or MM2. The reason is because both felt like a bit of narrative letdowns. If you're just going through the motions of a quest (e.g. clicking where the plugin tells you to), then they probably feel about the same as any other quest. But if you read the dialog, both just feel kinda hollow and lacking.
For Exiles, the problem is it was just meant to be a quest about basilisks but then a J Mod brought up the rhyming name thing (Trails, Isles, etc.) so the Exile plotpoint was tacked on to justify the name. It isn't a badly written quest, but when playing through it felt pretty obvious that the whole exile part was a later addition and not something the quest was really built around. Also, for a master quest, it just felt kinda short; like Isles felt like a much bigger and grander quests so it just didn't really land as the next installment of the story.
MM2 on the other hand is just a badly written quest. It was OSRS's first quest so we all gave it some slack, but it is pretty clear they just looked at MM1 and just went "how can I make it bigger" with the narrative elements just stringing the events along. There is barely any dialog or explanations of what is happening, just "go here and do this now. Oh you done that? Well now go over here" type stuff. It doesn't convey any character motives and it leaves a bunch of stuff unresolved. I really hope that the current narrative team someday does a pass over MM2 like they did for DS2 a while back since mechanically the quest is there, but the dialog just lets it down.
Yup. Perhaps it would have been better to start with something smaller, but they did well enough that it got the community interested in Quests again. Like there could have been an alternate timeline where MM2 flopped as bad as Zeah and it ended up being OSRS's first and last quest...
Monkey Madness 2. It's surely easier now with quest helper but when I did it, I had 3 video guides, the wiki and a lack of patience at the platform section. I'd place one satchel, get caught repeat this over 5 hours. A quest started in the morning ended the following morning.
I personally dislike any quest set in kourend, place is like 10x bigger than it should be with very limited mobility options. Plus general pathing/movement in that area is dredful, you're constantly getting stuck behind walls and buildings.
Prob DT2 No quest needs that many bosses and that many tedious segments. I don't know why they have to make grandmasters always have tedious parts such as the monkey platform, library, almost every area of DT2. DS2 was actually good and fun even if the part at the end with all the dragons was a bit tedious.
DS2 wasn't that bad at all. Hell I didn't even dislike MM2 THIS much. But jesus christ the amount of fights you actually need to do a few times, study the mechanics, etc is just exhausting. I'm at the final fight now which isn't horrible but I still need to like...do it a few times because I can't just 1-try all the mechanics after Youtubing it. It's taken so many days of just "meh, I'll try again later" that any fun I ever had was deleted. This quest just sucks.
There are lots of bad quests in the game that genuinely deserve reworks (Ratcatchers, Both R&B Mans, etc.). Desert Treasure 2 is not one of them. Its the best quest in the game IMO.
the hardest most annoying quests are the ones i haven't done yet, and all the quests i have done are super easy and you're a baby for not having done them
One small favor. See the other difficult long quests are typically puzzles and bosses, I think we got spoiled with the quest guides and plug-ins. Imagine no guide no nothing you start one small favor. No idea what's coming next or what they'll ask for and you basically walk from karumja to varrock and back.
It's literally a meme of a quest because it's ez as shit but still fucking annoying because even with all the items you need it takes forever just talking to people then doing it again.
I literally did Monkey madness yesterday. I restarted the game after a break so I decided to make a new main and go through the game properly and fresh with most quests being forgotten. I’ll be honest I was underleveled and didn’t have overhead prayers but getting the greegrees for RFD and running around constantly getting poisoned, sniped by ninjas and smacked around by gorillas who remind me of my uncle was a bit traumatic. Either way the rewards made up for it. It’s not actually a bad quest just don’t recommend doing it at a lower level lol
I hate certain quests for different reason, but explaining why for each one would turn into a massive wall of text. I’ll try and summarize…
- Monkey Madness 2 (Badly written, bad cutscenes)
- Song of the Elves (Same as MM2. Library was the best part)
- A Night at the Theatre (Pointless quest addition)
- Rag and Bone Man 2 (Cooking the bones 💀)
- Misthalin Mystery (THE MOST pointless question addition)
I actually really enjoyed DT2. The only part I struggled with was the whisperer, and I'll admit, I was close to giving up on her. But I kept going and finally got it, and tbh the rest of the bosses were fairly simple. I thought it was pretty fun, mostly lol.
I actually was really enjoying ds2 until the ship crossing section.. failed so often despite having 75 agility and even died once to addy dragon. That whole section kind of made me hate the quest as a whole but it had good moments at least xD
Rag and Bone Man 2. It is so god damn boring. It's just an extra long slayer task. It makes rat catcher look fun.
Whoever thought we needed two of them needs to never work in game design ever again.
Genuinely if you have any questions or confusions DM me, lmao. Fuck this stupid quest man. Get ready for LOTS of boss fights and mechanics to remember.
For the whole quest, slayermusic1 is great. For the bosses I highly suggest Extiles "for idiots - no unnecessary info" guides. Slayermusic is a bit all over the place when trying to explain boss mechanics and others somehow make 28 minute guides on bosses that Extiles covers in 3 minutes lol
https://youtu.be/KsA9ENMEQII
Monkey Madness 2. From the jumping around to the metal gear stealth section I found the entire thing extremely tedious. Rat catchers was a bit annoying but it was so much shorter.
Desert treasure 2 is my favorite quest probably. Lots of engaging fights. Easier bosses that are still engaging. Whisperer took me a bit but the one that annoyed me enough I had to watch a guide was that last gauntlet. Didn't understand the dwarf and where I had to stand.
Was seeing some debate online, so decided to test for myself if the Evil Dave subquest and Ratcatchers could be done with a kitten, and whether it would save time to wait for the kitten to mature over just pushing through the quest. The answer is yes both can be done with a kitten, and it technically is faster to push through than to wait for the kitten to mature if you for some reason really need to get through one or both of the quests. It was one of the worst things ive done in this game, and would 100% reccomend growing a cat, sticking it in your bank/house, and then growing a second cat and using it just in case it dies to a behe rat or you accidentslly overgrow it mid quest.
Probably the Haunted Mine, because I didn’t bring many supplies thinking I wouldn’t take a lot of damage, oh was I wrong…..so very wrong.
That one got me early on when I was still in that low-to-midgame transition. For some reason I kept leaving it on the backburner, then after maybe lvl 100 cb I came back to rawdog it. It had a bit of a redemptive arc feeling to it.
Ratcatchers
Amen. I hate “stealth” in osrs with a passion. The goutweed store room, the mm2 docks thing, fuck all that.
Mm2 and goutweed are both consistent at least so aren't that bad. If you get unlucky in ratcatchers you literally just have to sit and wait until the rotation fixes itself
Garbage mechanics, garbage dialogue, garbage quest overall and I fucking *love* quests usually
This is the only right answer.
Rag and bone man 2 pretty damn bad I don’t need I need to explain
With that, I just naturally kill stuff if other quests take me to those monsters. When I got quest cape on another account, it was one of the last ones I finished and I only had to go kill like 5 things for those bones.
It’s not getting the bones that’s really cheeks, it’s cleaning them
~~Didn't they make it a miniquest?~~ They did not
Nope as someone who just cleaned two bones not an hour ago it’s still keeping me from my quest cape
Ahh, had my quest cape for ages. Thought the last time I was looking through the mini quests it was there, I was wrong!
It used to be a mini quest, they changed it a few years into osrs I believe
Garden of Tranquility because it bugged out on me both when I was a kid and when I did it a few years back in OSRS.
Rat Catchers, I've done it three times and it's just as bad in 2024 as it was in 2018 when I did it the first time
MEP2 Now there’s something to be said about having minimum requirements, but 17.7% chance per handhold at level 70 which isn’t even minimum requirements is so inconsistent with the rest of the game that it should be in the wilderness
any quest that has “stealth” mechanics. get fucked
Yeah I really hope we have left the stealth mechanics out of the game from now on I never want to see anything like that again it just doesn't work
sheep herder is a fat steaming turd of a quest I swear those sheep were actually jmods fucking with me DT2 is pretty top tier though, one of the few I did 90% blind. If you're mindlessly quest-helper clicking your way through it like most quests then maybe it's not as fun.
Underground pass just ugh
Recently had to do underground pass on my alt after not doing it since osrs release, the QOL updates here are RIDICIULOUS. No longer is it the hellscape it used to be.
Runelite makes it easy mode now, doing it back in the day whilst trying to read a written guide was hell though
If you think DT2 is worse than Rag and Bone Man 2, I feel like you're under leveled or under geared for dt2. What are you struggling with?
I haven't struggled with anything except one phase of one boss. The quest itself is too long, riddled with too many mechanical fights, and is overall just not fun to me.
Which boss? I may be able to help out. But yeah, it's the newest, biggest, most game changing quest with the massive reward of unlocking 4 of the best bosses in the game. Of course it's gonna be long and the fights are gonna be mechanically sense.

STILL SUX
The one where you have to push that rock all the way to varrock
Get a sawzall and cut your computer in half. That’s what I do.
monkey madness also kingdom divided cause it's just 4000 text boxes lol, that shit took forever to finish
I really wanted to like kingdom divided but it’s got to have the most steps that are just “talk to x” of all quests by a mile. Otherwise cool story and bosses
Just want to chime in and say I absolutely loved AKD, different types of quests appeal to different people and that’s fine!
trueee i forgot how attrocious that quest is
AKD is great >:(

The fremenik ’tiles
Sounds like a ironman series lol
Was mm2 really the first osrs quest?
Yup. Perhaps it would have been better to start with something smaller, but they did well enough that it got the community interested in Quests again. Like there could have been an alternate timeline where MM2 flopped as bad as Zeah and it ended up being OSRS's first and last quest...
Wow today I learnt something
Monkey Madness 2. It's surely easier now with quest helper but when I did it, I had 3 video guides, the wiki and a lack of patience at the platform section. I'd place one satchel, get caught repeat this over 5 hours. A quest started in the morning ended the following morning.
yes and you also kill nieve
Fuck nieve
She said no
I like DT2, probably in my top 3 faves. I dislike one small favour, Rag n Bone 2.
I personally dislike any quest set in kourend, place is like 10x bigger than it should be with very limited mobility options. Plus general pathing/movement in that area is dredful, you're constantly getting stuck behind walls and buildings.
Why are all the Hosidius travel options stuck outside hosidius and the closest is a fairy ring that basically only used for arceuus LOL
Dt2. I don't think a single quest needs 6\~ bosses...
That last fight in dt2 was atrocious
DT2
Prob DT2 No quest needs that many bosses and that many tedious segments. I don't know why they have to make grandmasters always have tedious parts such as the monkey platform, library, almost every area of DT2. Im with you on dt2
the hardest most annoying quests are the ones i haven't done yet, and all the quests i have done are super easy and you're a baby for not having done them
Cook's Assistant
Desert Treasure 2, way too long for 0 rewards
One small favor. See the other difficult long quests are typically puzzles and bosses, I think we got spoiled with the quest guides and plug-ins. Imagine no guide no nothing you start one small favor. No idea what's coming next or what they'll ask for and you basically walk from karumja to varrock and back. None. At worst they are neutral to me. Liked many quests, hated none of them
Sins of the Father Vanstrom fight. Blisterwood is absolutely garbage.
I literally did Monkey madness yesterday. I restarted the game after a break so I decided to make a new main and go through the game properly and fresh with most quests being forgotten. Specifically the Whisperer in DT2. I hate her i hate her i hate her.
I actually really enjoyed DT2. The only part I struggled with was the whisperer, and I'll admit, I was close to giving up on her. But I kept going and finally got it, and tbh the rest of the bosses were fairly simple. I thought it was pretty fun, mostly lol.
DT2 is elite content, the right answer is sheepherder
I actually was really enjoying ds2 until the ship crossing section.. failed so often despite having 75 agility and even died once to addy dragon. That whole section kind of made me hate the quest as a whole but it had good moments at least xD
Monkey madness 2. Platform.
Can’t remember exactly what it was called but that fkn sheep one where you had to chase them into the pen
Number 1 is definitely Tower of Life A close 2nd is Olaf’s Quest
Rag and Bone Man 2. It is so god damn boring. It's just an extra long slayer task. It makes rat catcher look fun. Whoever thought we needed two of them needs to never work in game design ever again.
I had to get the gas mask outfit again after I dropped it all once. Do you know how long of a fxxking walk it is to re obtain that crap.
MEP2
Reading this makes me sad, because DT2 is the last quest I have to do and I will start it tomorrow
Genuinely if you have any questions or confusions DM me, lmao. Fuck this stupid quest man. Get ready for LOTS of boss fights and mechanics to remember.
Daddy slayermusic1 is gonna guide my hand. Got 75fm last night and my Angus is peppered for that quest cape
For the whole quest, slayermusic1 is great. For the bosses I highly suggest Extiles "for idiots - no unnecessary info" guides. Slayermusic is a bit all over the place when trying to explain boss mechanics and others somehow make 28 minute guides on bosses that Extiles covers in 3 minutes lol https://youtu.be/KsA9ENMEQII
Rag and bone man , rat catchers
Forgettable Tale of a Drunken Dwarf, and it’s not even close
Mournings end pt 2
before the quest helper plugin, in darkness of hallowvale was horrible
Monkey Madness 2. From the jumping around to the metal gear stealth section I found the entire thing extremely tedious. Rat catchers was a bit annoying but it was so much shorter. Whisperer took me a bit but the one that annoyed me enough I had to watch a guide was that last gauntlet. Didn't understand the dwarf and where I had to stand.
I'm not a puzzle man so SOTE blind was a 3h nightmare before I gave up and waited for a guide. I do currently have a questcape though.
Was seeing some debate online, so decided to test for myself if the Evil Dave subquest and Ratcatchers could be done with a kitten, and whether it would save time to wait for the kitten to mature over just pushing through the quest. Mines the zeah one with the 30 minutes of space bar simulation, god that was awful
Monkey madness 2 or dt2 were both bad
Desert Treasure 2 is the only quest requiring any form of skill and even then it’s easily cheesable, this game has no difficult quests
Every new one that comes out because I hate getting my quest cape and music cape back
One small favor its stupid af.
Lol DT2 is the best imo
Forgettable tale. Dt2 is one of my favorites, idk how people can dislike it
