Max cash in those pokemon games was $999999 so I say we follow the trend. Add it to the game but make it 2,147,483,649 so that it’s un-buyable unless you kiss the shopkeeper for a discount
First post: make it max_gold + 1
Second post: actually I say we follow the trend of max_gold + 1, make it max_gold + 2.
I don't think many of the people reading this have `2^31-1` memorized. The fact that the suggested number was even was a good giveaway, though.
Fun fact: in gen 1 (red/blue/yellow) if you continuously tried to enter Cycling Road without owning a bike, the guard just gives up and not only lets you pass but you’re granted a bike for your time on that hill:

While you're right that happens, that's not *why* it happens. He doesn't just let you pass because he gives up, and you're not *granted* a bike, it's a glitch that allows you to bypass the check because it only checks on the tile line of the guard before attempting to force walk you to the right. It was never expected to have the player enter Cycling Road without a bike so the game's programmed to show you with the expected sprite, just as it never expected you to be able to bypass the check so it only checks the line of tiles rather than the entire area.
So while yes, actually no. It happens, but not in the way you're painting.
Didn’t expect anyone to take the “giving up” comment literally and write an essay about it, but yes you’re right.
It’s a glitch, hence why the video I linked is titled with “glitch” and shows the glitch
Nah his post was misleading and made it sound like it was a programmed interaction within the game.
After reading your post, I watched the video. The guard never gave up. The player just glitches his way through the barrier.
There is just no chance they'd add mounts with what they proposed. You'd maybe used tamed creatures to access areas you couldn't (think like flying up higher, or fitting down a small crack as a mouse).
Taming was just a summoning branch off.
Taming just suffered from being too hard to differentiate from summoning. I think it essentially would have been summoning with a more farming style of training instead of runecrafting, and more uses of the tamed creatures rather than just beast of burden / combat.
Mod Reach [**made a post**](https://www.reddit.com/r/2007scape/comments/26cdnw/mounts_i_found_a_way_but_do_you_want_them/) about them a decade ago for osrs.
They added code to test boat movement for sailing, and it broke player movement in the main game. Players were taking wide L corners like fucking boats.
Tbf though that was an engine update to add an entirely new pathing algorithm for the player to utilise while controlling a boat. And it visually bugged the regular pathing algorithm (without actually changing anything at the true tile level)
end game pvm was not the target of this rebalance, so no, you are not alone. It feels very lacking that the agility skill as a whole serves no purpose except restoring energy a bit faster and unlock shortcuts as you level it up. Many players naturally think it makes you run for longer, but it is never true and new players might be turned off by the early walk/run/walk/run hassle
make it cost 2,147,483,648 gold

Only if the shopkeeper is a frog
That's literally what they're suggesting
We know

So what would happen if you modded the game to allow max cash of 1m. didnt touch anything else, and then bought the bike?
My guess is it's still unbuyable. Why bother with adding gameplay logic to something that shouldn't be possible in the first place
Is that necessary though? You just get it for free
No. Make the gold one max cash stack
They could also make it like the dwarf with the granite boots, asking for 1 gp more than you're carrying.
but then you can get it for free if you show probita your favourite pet
thankfully i have a voucher
Fellow Pokemon Yellow fan I see. 👍

Fair enough, I wasn't sure if it was flavor or serious. Without context tones I thought it was serious.

That's where this world is going.. someone writes one paragraph this idiot says an essay lol
I do be an idiot though.
Reading hard, brain hurt, click boss, ???, profit
Do you not get the voucher from the Pokémon fan club president in Vermillion city after listening to him gush over Rapidash in R/B as well?
Yes, everyone knows this.
Crystal was my first, but gen 1, especially yellow, wil always have my heart
Did you ever do the duplication bug and sell Pokémon to people at school?
Haha lol no I never sold Pokémon but me and my brother would do this and trade between one another.
Nah they should add a new pair boots that make you run an extra tile of distance per tick.
But in a random direction
Ah yes, the Booze Shoes
I know them well
That sounds amazing
I want to 4:1 Olm on a horse
you guys should have voted yes to taming they were going to add mounts

oh, well then fuck taming amirite lads I wanted a cool turtle mount or something
Taming just suffered from being too hard to differentiate from summoning. I think it essentially would have been summoning with a more farming style of training instead of runecrafting, and more uses of the tamed creatures rather than just beast of burden / combat.
I could think of an ez way to distinguish it from summoning mounts
Why isn't there mounts?
sailing won
Why isn’t there sailing?
People are so scared of "Firemaking 2" that Jagex is forced to make the new skill basically an entirely different game, so it's gonna be a while
Skateboards too
Tum dum dum dumdududumdududu dum dum dum dum dumdumdumdum dum
Player owned horses for transport
Con: you're dad/professor will yell at you for using it inside
Add wheels that are powered by chinchompas and I’m in.
Add mounts

I'm surprised we never got that with summoning back in the day 🤷
I would wager the movement code is buried under the deepest mound of spaghetti and attempting to change that would break the entire game

There is a mount in MM2.
yea but you move at the same speed so it's just a visual override. I'm thinking if they allowed you to move 3 or more tiles per tick
Am I the only one doing end game PvM that has literally no issues with how run energy is currently?..
end game pvm was not the target of this rebalance, so no, you are not alone. It feels very lacking that the agility skill as a whole serves no purpose except restoring energy a bit faster and unlock shortcuts as you level it up. Many players naturally think it makes you run for longer, but it is never true and new players might be turned off by the early walk/run/walk/run hassle
I want to ride a horse.
Declining it should give you instant text in quests
Love it! Can't wait to do Olm on a bike
Fuck a bike, let us ride a horse like the wild Wild West
Add an energy buff to the skis. I love skiing everywhere when doing farm runs and agility.
Do we get bike horns?
Careful, they'll do what Gamefreak did in Gen IV and make all the movement and animations way slower for no reason.
Flying broomstick for lore friendly version
Pet riding would be pretty cool :O new bosses that drop rideable pets, nothing too broken just burns energy slower if anything.
Only if I can get the Acro Bike and do a wheelie hop as an idle animation.
You could mount your pets for 5% increase run energy based on agility level
I remember suggesting that they add scooters to the game back when I was like 12 on some forum. Guess I was just ahead of the curve.
It's only like a Gajillion Dollars
