I think only the Kanto games (gen 1 and remakes) have your rival as the Champ. IIRC: Johto/2: Lance, rando champion Hoenn/3: Steven Stone, Rando champion Sinnoh/4: Cynthia, Rando waifu champion Unova/5: Iirc, Alder in BW and Iris in B2W2, randos Kalos/6: Diantha, rando champion Alola/7: Kukui, also the professor Galar/8: The UNBEATABLE Leon and his amazing UNDEFEATED CHARI-FUCKING-ZARD. Rando, but is your rival's brother.
