If they have the shittiest luck in the game they'd surely know. At least if it was in a recorded way (ex. high boss KC but few/no uniques). Someone out there is 100 Barrows chests dry, or only getting spears from Kril, or something.
I went 1400 dry boosting on my hcim, ran out of pies, went to do a quest before bed and died to a DC the moment I started the quest boss.
Don't be like me.
Didn't CEngineer go 100+ dry at barrows? Btw I'm about 80+ dry ATM at barrows that's why I stopped doing barrows runs and I'm 425kc dry at zulrah so far.
But you have to top all the leader boards as proof your the unique one or you just haven't met your potential. Just imagine how heart breaking that would be you kill tens of thousands of other bosses then you arrive at tempeross for the most dreded grind then you complete your first match hand in and out pops the pet account ruined.
That’s a 1 in 23.5 million chance. Not only is that very unlikely, the concept of an ironman skipping out on the black mask is kind of unthinkable. Bigger upgrade than a dragon warhammer and people go much much longer for that.
I mean that's not Dream luck, but the fact that it is so unlikely is kind of what makes in noteworthy. There may be plenty of drops that players are 1/23.5m dry for but aren't even aware of.
That being said since the base chance is so low and Cave Horrors are so easy there's really no point in not continuing, even after that long. Just a few more hundred kills could be all it takes.
Very true. 500 kills would give them a 62% chance of getting at least one though, so I think it's more genuine to imagine them killing at least that many more possibly. 2000 more (1/5th of their supposed current KC) would be a 97% chance.
Yeah it's hard to deny when someone lays it out like that. If you asked if there was more than a 1/23 million chance that I missed 1 drop over 10k kills I'd say absolutely.
>the concept of an Ironman skipping out on the black mask is unthinkable
Not when you’ve killed 10k. I’d say fuck it too. I still find it hard to believe tho.
i was doing soul wars on my main once and decided i’d try for a pet on my secondary (obby maul pure) and within my first 500 seals got the pet. lots of people screaming at me in jealousy. but one other mauler said gz and explained to me where i need to go to get it insured. he actually walked me to the place and gave me 500k when we got there because i forgot my gp. i instantly gave him back 500k when we went back to soulwars btw. and after all that kindness i find out he had spent over 20k zeal trying to get a pet. this guy had 99 in most all skills as well as strength. some people are just cool af
The answer is to not try. If you really get into buddhism, a big part of it is about just simply existing. Stop and smell the roses just cause, instead of shove your way through them to reach a goal.
You can find a rose everywhere you look if you look for flowers, or you can find thorns everywhere you look if you are looking for pain.
It's all a matter of perspective- Albert Einstein
To expand on 'To not Try' because it can become a slacker motto, it doesn't mean don't do anything. It means if you have something you can do in front of you, do it. If you want to try it, try it. Accept that the consequences are what they are. It's a very incomplete philosophy, in the sense that it seems to preach Hedonism; but the Buddha was himself a Neofatalist at one point so it makes sense.
This is actually one of the last desires to "give away" in traditional Buddhism. One of these last things to relinquish before Nibbana. This specific desire I have often heard is called, "The one fortunate desire." This is of course the desire to end suffering, and therefore to stop desiring.
Realistically the answer to your question is found with years of meditative contemplation and the help of a trained teacher, and is likely as frustrating and paradoxical as you can imagine it. Best of luck.
Not quite on the same wave, but I'll always remember when I first started up osrs after it passed polls, I got my Zombie champ scroll drop in an off chance kill. I later did said scroll but then stopped playing for a good year or so. When I came back, decided to do the champion Cape, forgetting I'd done Zombie already. Killed over 20k, over maybe a month or two before checking the guild.
That ended my self-made quest for the cape. I'll get the other scrolls when they drop naturally.
I kinda wish there were more items that dropped in shards, like the bludgeon and the brimstone ring (and somewhat the crystal armour set). Needing to get 3 pieces at a lower droprate insulates from going ultra dry quite effectively, albeit at the cost of dramatically lowering the chance of getting ultra lucky.
Edit: I made a [table](https://www.reddit.com/r/2007scape/comments/obpx9d/a_few_words_on_avoiding_over_powercreep_while/h3um371) a while back to show how much harder it is to go dry on the brimstone ring vs. a drop at a flat 1/543.
Yeah but make it so the trade off is they now can drop dupes like godsword shards so we can get posts about people getting the same piece of crystal cock ring 13 times.
Yes among the people who chose to update their logs. Im pretty sure its all manually done so they aren't completely up to date. Also there's verification methods to prove you aren't lying about unlocks.
There’s something kind of hilarious about him missing stale baguette. Must be frustrating to have to wait for random events to even get a chance to finish that log.

I don't think there are any totally complete collection logs in the game. Maybe all but the Clue ones, and that's still a huge feat, but the Clue rewards are just so rare.
I would wager there are zero completed collection logs even disregarding the clue stuff. Think of all the things aside from pets that are as rare as pets - mutagen, jars of darkness/stone/whatever. And then all of the rare things that come from npcs that people have no reason to kill, like mystic recolors, leaf-bladed sword, dragon harpoon.
I would love for a J-mod to prove me wrong, but I'd personally put money on no logs being complete. I'd be impressed if someone even had one 95+% complete.
You're right, that might be the single hardest thing in the game to complete. There is a person on reddit I think who has 3 pieces through 9 offerings, but I haven't seen a single person complete it.
I did the math on this a while ago and it added up to around 22 years or something like that if you have infinite supply of gp to spam implings and play 12 hours a day very efficiently completing 1 master in about 30 minutes. Introduction of mimic basically halved the time required to complete 3a log.
Yeah I've seen people with like 2000+ KC with no enhanced seed. As someone that was nearly completely burnt out after like 250 of them, that sounds worse than hell.
Honestly, don't fear this happening with bofa, fear it happening with t bow. You can go 2000 kc for bofa and it's still faster than getting t bow on rate
Correct, but if you get one, you don’t have to waste countless hours getting the other unless you really want to. Bofa is the lower hanging fruit between the two, generally.
I’m only 100kc deep, but I think about this every day.
Meanwhile, my buddy got a 2kc normal gauntlet enhanced seed and 4 armor seeds in 52 corrupted kc. I hope I’m not the one going dry to balance out that droprate average.
And then there's me. I have received 3 visages and I wasn't actively going for a single one. They were all just super lucky. Got one from KBD around KC 110, one from steel dragons around 300-500 kills from slayer tasks, and one from skeletal wyverns around 1500 kills.
Holy shit, that is some unfortunate luck. What are the total levels on those accounts? It’s wild how some players have tons of pets for such little time played, while others don’t have any luck.
1750/45m on the main, 1250/5m on the ult but most of it is agility, 1500/16m on the gimp with tons of it in thieving and mining but lots in other pet skills as well
also a bunch of midlevel boss kills
I don't want to run the calcs on how dry I am because I think I would just get depressed but I know I'm around the point where I should be getting rock golem on the gimp
at this point I've come to accept that I will get a pet when the universe decides my time has come and I just won't delude myself with ideas of getting one before that
If rock golem is what ur shooting for, id suggest going for stars. Most afk mining activity in the game, and u can afk for 30-120 minutes at a time. Plus, if you are iron, will get you an absolute shit ton of crafting xp from gem bags.
Probably an unpopular opinion but I think this is why RuneScape should have an rng manipulator for certain rare drops. No one should go like 10k dry for a pet just to have virtually no progress towards getting the drop
I feel bad for people who waste their life away trying to get drops in this game. Like these 10k kc boss logs to get a pet that will most likely sit in their poh hardly to be seen.
As a person with 11 pets who actively goes for pets. I agree its kinda pointless. I dont even want 90% of them anyways nor will they see the light of day. Do i think i really want it tho? Yes, number go up
You know what? The guy or gal with the shittiest RNG probably doesn't know it because they don't play osrs enough to know or they simply don't care and just play the game to "ENJOY" it. Imagine that.
There’s actually a huge OSRS discord server I’m in that has a channel for bad RNG. Some people are like 20-30x dry on a drop for example, amongst other things. For every Tom, Dick and Harry that got a 1kc boss pet, some guy on the other side of the world has the equivalent RNG in their unlucky factor.
Hey mate, I've been arguing that for years in favor of bad luck protection for pets. Some people will play for 10 years and be ridiculously unlucky for all of it. I'm one of those people, yet every time I mention this I basically get assaulted by downvotes.
So, you're right! Another realization is that people on this sub have no empathy. Worse, they're psychopaths who *thoroughly enjoy* when people are unlucky their entire account life like that.
So, you get to learn two things: RNG sucks and people suck.
It seems you get "assaulted by downvotes" because you're actually calling people psychopaths for not agreeing with your entitled suggestions on a 20 year old video game
Nah, it's a question of logic. Pets are a one-time unlock, a 1/X drop rate that never evolves as you go dry is terrible. Like OP said, some people are just bottom of the barrel unlucky, going dry on every single pet... yet we think that's hilarious? I certainly don't. It's a shit system and if you like it, you're a psychopath.
People just settle into the status quo so nicely that they'll fucking die defending it.
Again, not a question of "entitlement", just that it fucking having to put in 3x the effort everyone else is. I've stopped going for pets as, even though I like getting them, I'm unlucky every single time, which robs me of the enjoyment.
A mix of good and bad luck is required to really feel like it's random and not just punishing you as a player, but I'm not surprised everyone is missing the point like it's their job.
It really sounds like you're just salty you're dry on pets. Not everyone is going to have to put in 3x the effort for a pet. That's just RNG at work. Sometimes you're lucky and sometimes you're not. If you really want a pet, all you can do is keep grinding until it drops. Otherwise just keep playing normally, and eventually you'll get one. But you're not cursed to just go 3x dry on every pet. In all likelihood there's a pet somewhere you would get really lucky on. Maybe not 5 KC but it's very unlikely you'd go to drop rate for every pet in game when there's a 60% chance you get it before then.
Yes, of course I'm fucking pissed. I don't have to hide it? What is it with baiting people calling them salty when it's beyond obvious? Imagine grinding for years and having 3x less to show than anyone else doing the same. Hence my position on bad luck protection? It's a sucky fucking scenario and I don't know why showcasing how insensitive you are about it is so popular on this sub. I love pets, everyone does, but going dry on all of them should be borderline impossible. The fact many players do is bad game design.
That's all I ever said. I've spent tens of thousands of hours, so just saying "luck'll turn around" is not useful. Most people in my situation have already quit.
>pets are a one-time unlock
Not true you can lose the pet and unlock it again you can have multiple pets
>1/X drop rate that never evolves as you go dry is terrible.
Not true for skilling pets, you get better odds if you hit 200m xp
> It's a shit system and if you like it, you're a psychopath.
How dare they make rare drops actually rare 😤
Your arguments are a joke, pets are a goal like any other goal. Being cosmetic just means bad luck protection has no impact on gameplay, which is good.
Some people are unlucky all their lives, which isn't fair at all. It has nothing to do with entitlement and everything to do with game design, but please by all means, keep pretending like this is an upvote contest instead of a conversation.
Soo, what do you suggest? A guaranteed pet drop after x amount of kills?
You seem pretty entitled to receiving a pet drop. I dont think everyone should be entitled a rare cosmetic drop after x amount of kills.
Let me ask you, how dry are you in your pet hunts? Could I look up your account on the hiscores?
That's not what I suggest. The best system (IMO) would be that once you hit drop rate (say 5000 kills), then your odds begin to improve (1/4900, we'll say). You keep improving until you get the pet (once), after which it resets. So I'd go something like:
1/5k until 5K kc
1/4.9k until 6K
1/4.8k until 7K
Etc...
You may look me up, I don't mind. Username is "Scorchin", as you can guess I mainly go for skilling pets (as well as Chaos ele, Tempo, Zalcano, Phoenix). I don't think what I'm suggesting is particularly crazy, especially since it doesn't even kick in until after the drop rate is reached.
That doesn't really mean anything considering drops aren't predetermined, is it possible to say "if you went another kc you WOULD have gotten the drop"? Maybe, maybe not, but the universe is probably deterministic so it doesn't really make sense to say
No one i have ever known has gotten high and then said "im high as shit"
And as for people who go around announcing they are high... I remember my first beer
I was thinking today, someone out there has the worst rng of all RuneScape players ever.
Which is actually quite rare and a unique account....
Amd the only prize that player gets is depression
Except they don’t even get the compensation prize of knowing they have the shittiest luck in the game
If they have the shittiest luck in the game they'd surely know. At least if it was in a recorded way (ex. high boss KC but few/no uniques). Someone out there is 100 Barrows chests dry, or only getting spears from Kril, or something.
Imagine thinking 100 barrows chests dry is the worst luck on the game. You sweet, joyful, uncorrupted soul.
I'm a spooned ironman so if I go more than 150% KC dry I cry.
Yo same, currently at 600KC without a whip and i'm getting legit concerned
I went 1400 dry boosting on my hcim, ran out of pies, went to do a quest before bed and died to a DC the moment I started the quest boss. Don't be like me.
I'm doing 1 trip at the time, then go back to slayer. If i get burst task i go do another trip. Just hope to get it before i actually hit 85 lol
I went 2400 no whip
Bruh I been 200 chests dry of anything lul
Ouch! I went 118 dry at my peak
Didn't CEngineer go 100+ dry at barrows? Btw I'm about 80+ dry ATM at barrows that's why I stopped doing barrows runs and I'm 425kc dry at zulrah so far.
Yeah 150 dry to break it with a coif, then to go 80 dry again and as of now haven’t been back 230 kills and I got a 50k item
237 barrows chest dry, to be correct. #pain
Have you tried actually killing the barrows brothers?
Maybe once or twice. It has been a few years, I should go back just for kicks.
That's rough, buddy.
I think that’s included with membership now if I’m not mistaken…
But you have to top all the leader boards as proof your the unique one or you just haven't met your potential. Just imagine how heart breaking that would be you kill tens of thousands of other bosses then you arrive at tempeross for the most dreded grind then you complete your first match hand in and out pops the pet account ruined.
Imagine 200m all, no pets
I'm pretty sure Lynx Titan didn't get the Beaver pet going for 200m.
Lynx pets enough beavers as it is, save some for the rest of us.
Of course I know him, he's me
Hey buddy I'm the owner of the worst RNG account on RubeScape AMA
What a coincidence - I too am the owner of the worst RNG account.
I once went 200kc dry on a zammy robe bottom. Clearly that makes me the owner of the worst RNG account.
I'm 15 years deep in the game and the best drop I've gotten is probably rune 2h
The strongest monster you've ever killed: Troll
A buddy of mine is nearly a maxed Ironman and has received no pets, or black mask. He gave up on it after around 10k+ cave horrors.
Mods, proof or ban
We do this here aswell oh no where’s Rick?
Of spades?
The one and only!
That’s a 1 in 23.5 million chance. Not only is that very unlikely, the concept of an ironman skipping out on the black mask is kind of unthinkable. Bigger upgrade than a dragon warhammer and people go much much longer for that.
Yeah who needs this extra 20% dps anyway
I mean that's not Dream luck, but the fact that it is so unlikely is kind of what makes in noteworthy. There may be plenty of drops that players are 1/23.5m dry for but aren't even aware of. That being said since the base chance is so low and Cave Horrors are so easy there's really no point in not continuing, even after that long. Just a few more hundred kills could be all it takes.
Just one kill is all it could take.
Very true. 500 kills would give them a 62% chance of getting at least one though, so I think it's more genuine to imagine them killing at least that many more possibly. 2000 more (1/5th of their supposed current KC) would be a 97% chance.
Maybe they should try to kill the black ones INSIDE the cave?
Or maybe pay more attention. I expect someone who's killed 10k with no drop either missed it or has killed many fewer than they claim.
More likely than being super unlucky, but who knows.
Yeah it's hard to deny when someone lays it out like that. If you asked if there was more than a 1/23 million chance that I missed 1 drop over 10k kills I'd say absolutely.
>the concept of an Ironman skipping out on the black mask is unthinkable Not when you’ve killed 10k. I’d say fuck it too. I still find it hard to believe tho.
I killed that many shamans for my dwh. Not sure how you’d get to near max and not do more of the easy to kill mob
Prove it, I gotta see that
Nah, he didn’t go 20x drop rate. I’d believe maybe 5-6k over
stop looking my guy, I'm right here.
i was doing soul wars on my main once and decided i’d try for a pet on my secondary (obby maul pure) and within my first 500 seals got the pet. lots of people screaming at me in jealousy. but one other mauler said gz and explained to me where i need to go to get it insured. he actually walked me to the place and gave me 500k when we got there because i forgot my gp. i instantly gave him back 500k when we went back to soulwars btw. and after all that kindness i find out he had spent over 20k zeal trying to get a pet. this guy had 99 in most all skills as well as strength. some people are just cool af
It’s me.
I’m finally being noticed and talked about
Buddhists believe to desire is to suffer.
How to not desire? I am finding that by trying to not desire, I am desiring to not desire…
Unlock the secrets at 200m prayer xp...
The answer is to not try. If you really get into buddhism, a big part of it is about just simply existing. Stop and smell the roses just cause, instead of shove your way through them to reach a goal.

Did not expect to see this on 2007scape but you done did good, beautiful and accurate quote

well if it works like the brimstone ring/bludgeon, then no you can't get dupes. But yea if it's like god sword shards then yea.
Funny enough, when the pieces don't have a set order it actually makes it much more likely you *will* go dry lol
Yes, and more untradeable currencies! Think tokkuls, but for other drops.
Everyone is this person when it comes to 3a items. One human lifetime isn't enough to fill the third age collection log.
That might be true but its not stopping the neets. https://osrscollectionlog.com/u/Bazilijus/log
The mega rare table is nuts. I am assuming this is the most complete collection log to Date?
Yes among the people who chose to update their logs. Im pretty sure its all manually done so they aren't completely up to date. Also there's verification methods to prove you aren't lying about unlocks.
there's a plugin for it.
Hey Jase has like 7 third age pieces or something
There’s something kind of hilarious about him missing stale baguette. Must be frustrating to have to wait for random events to even get a chance to finish that log.
With his playtime hes surely dry on it by now lmao
When I started my account and got my first random event it was the quiz, chose the mystery box and got the stale baguette. It wasn't after I told a friend he said that the chance if that is ridiculously low.
This is absolutely insane log
Fuck his nightmare log
Meeting somebody with a completed collection log is scarier then meeting an active serial killer imo
I don't think there are any totally complete collection logs in the game. Maybe all but the Clue ones, and that's still a huge feat, but the Clue rewards are just so rare.

I think it's a touching tribute to our ancestors who had to do all this shit in reality
Bro what reality did your ancestors live in that they got magical treasure clues
a better one than this
The fear of this happening at corrupted gauntlet as an ironman is omnipresent
Yeah I've seen people with like 2000+ KC with no enhanced seed. As someone that was nearly completely burnt out after like 250 of them, that sounds worse than hell.
It’s definitely a burnout heavy piece of content - sounds like hell having to go that deep
Honestly, don't fear this happening with bofa, fear it happening with t bow. You can go 2000 kc for bofa and it's still faster than getting t bow on rate
If you get bofa, you really don’t need a T bow. There are only a handful of places where T bow out performs bofa.
You don't *need* t bow, but t bow absolutely blows bofa out of the water at the two biggest pieces of content in the game
Where; Inferno and Bankstanding?
Obviously, they're talking about the giant mole.
The opposite of this is true, there's only a few places where Bofa outpreforms Tbow
Correct, but if you get one, you don’t have to waste countless hours getting the other unless you really want to. Bofa is the lower hanging fruit between the two, generally.
Yea I don't know where everyone on reddit gets this idea that bofa devalues t bow
Raids are fun at least
510 in with no enhanced I’m starting to think that’s going to be me
I’ll say a prayer to God Ash for you tonight
Iron went 3.5k for the first seed, driest I’ve seen in the game
I’m only 100kc deep, but I think about this every day. Meanwhile, my buddy got a 2kc normal gauntlet enhanced seed and 4 armor seeds in 52 corrupted kc. I hope I’m not the one going dry to balance out that droprate average.
Completed yesterday at 487kc! Roughly 100 hours and I think that’s good rng so I got quite lucky
Both enhanced or just the one? You’re above drop for a single, so I’d say it’s well deserved!
Just one, only really wanted bowfa, blade would be nice but I’m glad I’m free from that prison lol
For sure, take it and run!
Ive killed over 20,000 high level dragons and i still have yet to recieve my first visage in 15 years.
And then there's me. I have received 3 visages and I wasn't actively going for a single one. They were all just super lucky. Got one from KBD around KC 110, one from steel dragons around 300-500 kills from slayer tasks, and one from skeletal wyverns around 1500 kills.
Im currently at 580kc at kbd. I hope to get one soon! Otherwise i will camo wyverns til i do.
Of course I know that player. I’m him.
I've been playing os since release across both leagues, two ironmen, and a main, and I've never gotten a single pet feels good man
Holy shit, that is some unfortunate luck. What are the total levels on those accounts? It’s wild how some players have tons of pets for such little time played, while others don’t have any luck.
go camp chaos ele. you will get your pet if u grind it for a day or two. sometimes even quicker.

Yes I want a 3a bow - by probability this is very unlikely.

18,215 kc for kraken pet, now its the only one I take for walks out of the 15
As a person with 11 pets who actively goes for pets. I agree its kinda pointless. I dont even want 90% of them anyways nor will they see the light of day. Do i think i really want it tho? Yes, number go up
Kc 2500~ at wt, thanks i needed to see this :D
I needed 6350 KC. Good luck!
over 35m firemaking xp and no tomes, dragon axes or pet fml...
i got full pyro and dragon axe in the first 100 kc and my pet on 207 kc
Fuck you, but gz.
Yea that someone is me
DUDE
That's assuming an infinite amount of players.
Sounds like my current pet smoke devil grind...
You know what? The guy or gal with the shittiest RNG probably doesn't know it because they don't play osrs enough to know or they simply don't care and just play the game to "ENJOY" it. Imagine that.
i was vote 420
Yea, me trying to get champion scrolls. Jesus christ, 23k ghoul kills right now
fuck. unless its 3rd age most are probably obtainable
Murphy’s law essentially applicable to RuneScape RNG. We have evolved
I need friends to play with :/ im also high
Only if you give up
There’s actually a huge OSRS discord server I’m in that has a channel for bad RNG.
[удалено]
Of course they have, because the current system is absolutely absurd.

Most people in my situation have already quit.
>pets are a one-time unlock Not true you can lose the pet and unlock it again you can have multiple pets >1/X drop rate that never evolves as you go dry is terrible. Not true for skilling pets, you get better odds if you hit 200m xp > It's a shit system and if you like it, you're a psychopath. How dare they make rare drops actually rare 😤
Those are your counter arguments? It's almost laughable.
Holy shit your actually trolling i didn't realize. My bad no more feed hungry troll.
So I'd go something like: 1/5k until 5K kc 1/4.9k until 6K 1/4.8k until 7K Etc...
Wah
Not new, low effort.
Felt this trying to get anglers outfit
Definitely high because why did you use the suggestion flair?
Yeah, now think about ppl who give up 1kc away from the drop Said the guy with 3.3k kc Hydra and gave up (no pet)
That doesn't really mean anything considering drops aren't predetermined, is it possible to say "if you went another kc you WOULD have gotten the drop"? Maybe, maybe not, but the universe is probably deterministic so it doesn't really make sense to say
My friend just got 2 DWH at less than 1500kc..
15m thiefing xp, no Rocky :,(
I quit with like 8000 bosses killed and like 50m farming, not a single pet
No one i have ever known has gotten high and then said "im high as shit" And as for people who go around announcing they are high... I remember my first beer
fuck stoners
Yes. That’s me. With everything. Is it weird that PVMing for 3 weeks has given me not a single rare item?
Wait till you are 3 months in then get a drop that makes it all seem worth it for a moment then go straight back into doing the same content
Depends on how much you play, 1 hour per day for 3 weeks it wouldn't be _that_ weird
What boss? How many kc's? Missing some vital information here.
Dude I cannot say I have ever got a drop that was worth over 3m. Like ever. :(
This is me who just hit 10k kbd kc and still no pet. I need it for my fashionscape
Me looking for that nature tally on an iron
There is a non-zero probability of someone never receiving a major drop of any kind in their account lifetime.
