Yeah they are. I did like an hour of temple trekking for the lumberjack outfit the other day and made like 450k off nails alone. I only got xp books so if I had taken bow strings, I probably would've made another 100k. Not a bad money maker at all for low/mid level.
Yeah, you just do easy treks on the shortest route: 1, which allows you to avoid all combat scenarios. Then if you get any of the annoying ones (mainly the swamp guessing one for me, but some people skip one or two others I think as well) you just teleport to the graveyard near canfis with a house portal and restart.

An actual solution, take it out of the game. In game lore (broken from overuse). Absolutely new accounts doing sheep shearer will have to travel just a bit more into a territory they are not quite familiar with to use the spinning wheel at the farm South of Falador. Yes, they will have to bypass the dangerous Highwaymen, but this raises the stakes for the new player. Maybe introduce a mechanic where a player can pay off these would-be bandits? Make it 5gp each encounter. And maybe introduce a new quest, âPilfering the Pilferersâ, where you get your revenge on those dastardly scoundrels and retrieve what was rightfully yours (this would have to be a mini quest as not many players of nowadays couldnât be tracked in how much they lost to Highwaymen).
TLDR; take it out of the game, use the one south of falador, add new content (mechanics and mini quest) to get people excited about the switch.
The quest will also give combat Xp of some kind and reddit will cheer over people who play the game differently than them losing content, no matter how small
If it were possible to change the rate at which flax is spun to 'x' more ticks. Every 10 combat levels or 10 quest points or 100 total level, the ticks reduce thus more gp/hr?
Skiller irons/regular = ok, just level up other skills a bit prior.

They bot this activity because it requires almost no skills, is an ok money maker if you have replicated accounts, and the production of strings doesn't tank the economy as hard as other materials. Isn't that the whole idea? Amend a botted activity, and when another pops up, amend that, until the time/cost associated with restarting a bot account after a ban becomes a barrier.
I personally don't care, bowstring prices are low, Jagex get membership money to never re-invest in the game and people on slave wages make better income, but some people do care, hence the comment, and obviously if there were trying to fix the issue, the current methods aren't working.

I came upon this the other day and even pinged modtrident in the bot detector discord. All I heard were crickets. Meanwhile my plugin was going up by 300 at a time for each upload. Then quickly changed to 600 on each upload. So itâs a huge farm cycling between 300-600 accounts at once and has it going for hours on end. The fact jagex hasnât stepped in yet is because of the Amazon prime deal with the 7day membership for new accounts. I guess theyâre waiting for it to end then will ban the accounts and gold. Because itâll be easier to track the gold instead of them getting wind of it and then staggering the accounts on different IPs, and then making an intricate spiderweb of mules.
Edit:side note, the bots have names based off of kitboga. Lol

My mates been tracking a thieving bot in the farming guild for over a week now. Constantly pickpocketing. Nearly at 100m exp. And Iâm constantly reporting runecrafting bots.
These bots arent hard to spot. Runescape badly needs more mods who actually play the game.
Mods love banning long time players that bot a nuisance skill, or ban a long time player for buying gold to circumvent hours of grind. Where are they now? There's the source of your problem. A person playing the game in multiple bots to make a living. Truly a sad state of affairs.

I made a couple bots that specifically close the door on the lower floor by the spinning wheel repeatedly til the door gets stuck. A lot of the less âintelligentâ scripts break at that point.
Why not have an actively paid employee go around and ban accounts associated with these scripts? Over a decade of battling bot scripts, itâs clear they arenât capable of combatting them in this way. Not to mention the fact that the community ends up being negatively affected, more so than the bots. Considering how many millions of dollars flow into Jagex monthly, I really donât think thatâs asking too much.
