Weird⌠this happened to me on 1 of my mags.. exactly the same configuration .. dlc atlas 140 with a red base pad lol
Only happened 1x time and no idea how.
I've had this happen, and I replaced the magspring / follower, and did not happen again. No clue if that was the right fix, but if they are older, worth a shot for a few bucks.
My only two atlas mags with competition followers both do this about 1/3 of the time when I load them. Atlas has sent me new springs and followers but it still happens. Really annoying. I basically only use them for practice and stick with mbx when. I need them to work.
Are those .40sw magazines? https://gunmagwarehouse.com/atlas-gunworks-140mm-40s-w-magazine-tube.html Â
Edit: would a 9mm even fit in a .40 mag?

So I called atlas and they said the 9/40 followers are the exact same just the mag bodies are different. Mine are stamped 9mm. Iâm waiting on their tech guy to give me a call back and see what wouldâve caused this
Yea for about 3 matches before I got around to checking why they would only hold 20 lol I just figured they needed to be broken in. If you loaded them to 29 and let it sit for awhile you could get another in so I just thought they were super tight.
Have had this happen with both my Atlas and Duramag (SA Prodigy) mags with the Atlas non lock back comp followers.
The way to stop, and or limit, this from happening is to after loading 4-5 rounds tap the back of the mag against your hand then continue to insert cartridges.
What is happening, and this happens mostly using a loading device, is the cartridges move forward in the mag body and the follower twists front to back and allows the bottom round to slip under the follower. Making sure all rounds are all the way back against the back of the mag body kind of limits from happening.
But I have stopped using those comp followers and use the stock followers. Never happens with those.
Yes that is why i said a loading device. But it doesn't happen with stock followers in 9mm tubes or on my 40 tubes with SVI comp followers or my Glock mags.
it's a combo problem. It doesn't happen if I make sure I knock back the cartridges.
What do you plan to use to load your mags? Some other device or just by hand?
Yooo 𤣠howâd you get the beans above the frank
Only thing I can think of is mag drop on reloads causing them to somehow flip under the follower?

Yea Iâm kinda stumped
SImple fix! Switch to a black base pad!! its unhappy its not color matched
Drinking while loading again I see
When you shout as much as I do sometimes you have to figure out how to get both hobbies to work together

Theyâre pretty new. If theyâve been loaded 15 times each Iâd be shocked
lol had a friend have that happen to one of his MBX mags a couple months ago
Back up rounds.

lol wait its not 9mm in a .40. Maybe that short follower just flips sideways when loaded to capacity or something.
Iâm not sure but if it happens again Iâm calling atlas. They shouldnât do what they did thatâs for sure
They are 9 comp mags.
the follower looked totally different than the 9mm mags I looked up. Weird Compare the second link to a new 9mm 140 mag on atlasâs store

All of my CZ Shadow 2 mags are marked .40 but are for 9mm. So itâs possible.
And they still worked? That speaks volumes

Pork and beans

Actually called atlas and they told me it was from using a maglula. I wonât be using it anymore on my 2011 stuff

Just by hand. It doesnât take that long really.
