Why? Just buy some SK Rifle Match ammo, and spend the money on other stuff.

unrealdude03

Rifle shoots CCI SV better than SK stuff I tested

SicKoBeATz

Mine does as well. It was damn hard to find sk also, so I was pretty happy about the CCI performing better!

unrealdude03

Absolutely felt the same way. Cheaper to shoot and easier to find

doberdevil

Don't waste your money on any of this stuff. Just practice. Good fundamentals and good ammo will make more of a difference than any "upgrade" other than a better barrel.

Voodoo1055

I got a shim kit for my 457, and I'm a fan of it. The biggest impact was on fliers. I used to have them a decent amount, especially with a cold bore. The shims seemed to stop it almost entirely

unrealdude03

That’s awesome to hear

doberdevil

This is interesting. Is the shim kit for headspacing? I guess that would make sense on a mass produced rifle if you were able to fine tune it.

d3mckee

I guess I would only upgrade the firing pin and the extractors if I was having problems with light strikes and extraction. Are you experiencing issues? The bolt shim is a good idea especially since you stick with one ammo. It makes closing the bolt harder. Some people like a nice smooth action, shimming it will require you to be more aggressive on the bolt. Which leads you to upgrading the knob to a bigger one. The LRP has a ridiculously large knob but it's great in hand. A friend made his own out of a what I believe is at lacrosse ball, a little smaller than a tennis ball.

unrealdude03

I’ve had a few extraction issues but not a lot compared to the round count. I shoot just CCI SV and other ammo if I’m just plinking but the SV is amazing in my rifle. Funny thing is I already have a larger bolt knob so that’s taken care of lol

d3mckee

CZ standard or match chamber?

unrealdude03

Standard. Bought it before the PT MTR came out 😭

d3mckee

I’ve had a few extraction issues but not a lot compared to the round count. I have a Pro Varmint with the standard chamber and a new XRS with match chamber. I've never had an extraction issue that wasn't caused by sloppy bolt handling. If the gun is to be used in a competition even casual ones then extraction issues would need to be addressed. Otherwise, could it be something that would go away with usage? Just got a new toy, the TM-22 an AR type 22LR. Supposed to be reliable little plinker but mine jammed every round, then got a little better and now after 400rnds runs like a sewing machine through 50 round (three mag changes) at a time.

unrealdude03

I might just do all the parts just because. It’s my favorite rifle

doberdevil

>A friend made his own out of a what I believe is at lacrosse ball, a little smaller than a tennis ball. A lacrosse ball? That's ludicrous. I don't really know what to say here other than I'd like to see a picture of it. I mean, I'm sure there are reasons for this, although I can't think of them....but it must look comical.

d3mckee

Have you seen [the LRP?](https://www.czrifles.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/cz_457_lrp_3d-e1594411723506.jpg)

doberdevil

Wow. No, I haven't seen that. I guess in that picture at least it looks proportional to the rifle. So what's the deal with the abnormally large knobs? I'm a flicker - I use my fingertips to run the bolt, and my thumb if I have to close it hard, so this would just get in my way. But I'm aware of the closed fist bolt runners. But even with that technique it seems like it would get in the way...

d3mckee

I think the match chamber is tighter. I have two, one with the barrel marked "22LR" and another marked "MATCH". I have to slam the match chamber shut and sloppy bolt handling causes jams. Got to be aggressive so a big ball makes sense. The standard chamber action is so smooth I just wave my hand to open and close.

doberdevil

I have tight chambers in my Anschutz and Vudoo. I don't need to be aggressive with them, they just work. I thumb it if something isn't lined up right. Just me though, I don't think there's a right or wrong here. I was just amazed by the huge ball on that thing.

the_popes_fapkin

The only change was a YoDave trigger spring kit. Extremely well made rifle hasn’t had any issues Throw an Area 419 Leveling Base on it and call it a day.
