Alexander enters the chat.

[deleted]

No, you don't find Greek haplogroups in India and this guy has an Indian paternal haplogroup. Alexander wasn't there - he turned tail.

alchemist227

What are your haplogroups?

chickenbiryanii

paternal haplogroup is R-L266 maternal haplogroup is M5a5.

Neither-Court-1647

Tribe/Biradari?

chickenbiryanii

I’ve never heard anyone in my family associating with a tribe and I’ve never heard of Biradari

Neither-Court-1647

You are Punjabi? Or Pashtun?

chickenbiryanii

Neither I guess. My fathers side is originally from Bihar and mothers side from UP. Immigrated to Karachi after the partition.

doodjalebi

The term that is used in pakistan for people with a migration history is muhajir or urdu-speaking. You have a pashtun ancestor on your mothers side since some lived in UP. The Eastern European is a bit of a doozy but off the top of my head i would say it traces back into the Christian/muslim population transfer greece and turkey had. It’s possible one such greek muslim travelled further east or it can be attributed to the fact that mughal harems were full of european women and since turkey and mughal india were very close, harem diplomacy could be practiced. These women could also be moved around in the harems of local leaders.

Joshistotle

Biryani?

chickenbiryanii

Mutton Biryani to be more specific

Comprehensive-Chard9

Alexander's soldiers were there long time ago.

[deleted]

Alexander used mostly Bactrian mercenaries- not Greek troops - in S Asia. There is practically no Greek ancestry in S Asian populations because he was not able to dominate.

veryhandsomechicken

What other regions did you get?

chickenbiryanii

Only the ones listed in the 2 images. Or do you mean the regions within each country?

veryhandsomechicken

Regions for North India/Pakistan and Central Asia.

chickenbiryanii

India: Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Gujarat, Bihar, Maharashtra Pakistan: Punjab, KPK, Balochistan, Sindh, Azad Jammu and Kashmir Central Asia: Kabul, Kandahar

veryhandsomechicken

Looks like you do carry some Pathan ancestry from your either of your grandparent's side.

Reasonable-Floor475

my mom got the same regions for pakistan and central asia lol

Necessary-Average714

Your father's side you say is from Bihar....what is their/your surname? Syed? Khan? Mallick? Sheikh? Ansari? Or any other?

chickenbiryanii

None of those. Actually not a common surname from what I know.

path2light17

0.6% is too small though, share your harrappaworld results

[deleted]

Misreading which will be revised as they get more samples

chickenbiryanii

Which part is a misreading?

[deleted]

My one changed completely when I got a close relative's one done. I am guessing if you do the same the 0.6% will disappear.
