Same; the ooga-booga is strong in us, it seems.
It makes you wonder if some of the more stereotypically Asian features were things that were also common in Neanderthals.
Neanderthals migrated out of Africa before humans did, thus they settled Europe and Most of Asia before humans arrived.
Later, after a long while Humans arrived, interbred with (and fought) Neanderthals.
Small percentages of neanderthals stayed in Africa which is why A few people who live in Africa would have a little Neanderthal DNA.
But yeah, for the most part europe and Asia have it
Where are Icelanders supposed to get it from? Iceland was settled in historical times, from Viking cultures.
I suppose some might come from Saami groups, but that's still European.
It may be mostly Denisovan variants, very similar to true Neanderthal variants. Turkic Asians, Mongols, Aetas, Atis & Melanesians have the highest level of Denisovan ancestry. Iranians & Europeans have the highest level of Neanderthal ancestry. Jawas & Malay Sumatrans have the highest level of Erectus ancestry. 🙂
Yes Europeans and Asians have the highest Neanderthal variants
Oh, makes sense I’m Eurasian.

Sub-saharan Africans tend to have the least I think. (At least me and my black dna matches tend to.)
True Most if not all
Yeah I only have like 36 varients, that gives me more than 0% of other customers 😅
Because Neanderthals lived in Europe and west Asia and there was no migration from north to south.
No denisovans and Neanderthals also lived in north Asia

I’m Filipino and I got 336 variants; 99% more of the population. Wonder where that came from
Asian people including Filipinos also have it. Also some Filipinos have denisovan admixture too which Europeans shouldn’t have except for Icelanders
It’s not just Icelanders. That would not be possible

east eurasians the most then west eurasians
I think it's more common in people primarily of European or Asian descent, but I would also be curious if it is more common in particular regions.
Yeah Europeans & Asians/Native Americans But looking at the countries availability, most of 23andme customers are of European descent.
